Class *** Titan HP: 75/75 Description: An agile creature that is weaker but can fly, quickly and steadily. Attention must be paid to its movement patterns, as it will always descend after a small period of time, as its body is too heavy to remain in the air. Watch out for it's tail, which will jab at anyone nearby, and its venomous spray that it will spit. Upon defeat: Has a 75% chance of dropping Insanity remains usable for the R & D. Each player rolls 1d100. If 76 or higher, you find remains (for that player).

Jordan had checked Robert's room, but he wasn't there nearly as often recently; he checked the Infirmary second, because that was the most likely place he was going to find Robert. He got a deeply suspicious look from Sunny for asking, but he got the information, if grudgingly.
He leaned in the door of the room where Robert was currently working. "Hey, bro, how's it hanging? I've got clearance to kidnap you for a patrol," he announced, grinning widely.

Every single sterilized instrument that Robert was carefully cleaning went clattering to the floor when Jordan opened the door and called on him, and he turned around, clearly not phased by the mess he'd just made. "Oh thank GOD." He cried out, walking past the mess - without cleaning - because he was terrible - and striding over to pick up his best friend in his arms. "YOU. YOU ARE MY SAVIOR. MY SHINING LIGHT SHINING DOWN ON ME ALL SHINY FROM THE HEAVENS." A baby started crying in the other room, and he automatically assumed it was from his booming voice, quickly hushing himself as he led Jordan out of the room. "Yes, yes I'm ready. No wait, no I'm not, let me change." He was already pulling off his booties. "Be back in five minutes, don't leave me JORDAN DON'T LEAVE ME." This request was a scream, accompanied by another ferocious hug, that lasted only a second. Then he was barrelling off to the changing room.

Jordan winced when the instruments tumbled to the floor, but even the mess and waste of work couldn't kill the smile at seeing Robert so thrilled to be given an excuse to get out of the infirmary. He oofed but didn't struggle as Robert swept him up, and thumped the big man on the back, laughing a little when he could get his breath back. "I'll take that as a yes then," he called after Robert as Robert whisked off to change. He spent the five minutes quickly gathering up the dropped instruments and piling them on a tray. Someone was probably going to get in trouble for that, and it was more likely to be Robert than him, so if he could minimize it, he would. He grabbed a piece of paper from a dormant printer and scribbled a quick note to let whoever discovered the haphazard pile know that the instruments had been on the floor; weapon-assisted healing and immune boost was excellent, but risking contamination from non-sterile instruments was still dumb. By the time Robert got back, he was leaning against the wall in the hall again, his grin of anticipation back in full force. "Ready to go get some daylight and maybe some hitting things in?" he asked.

Robert was still pulling his shirt over his head when he hobbled quickly back to his best friend. His head popped out from the hole and his hair stuck up oddly from static. "I'm ready to get out of this place." He clarified with relief heavy in his voice. "I mean, I love helping, I really do. This place is ******** awesome, and I've learned so much. But God, sometimes it just.. the smell. You know? I need a break. And sun sounds pretty good right now." He reached over to the front desk, took his clipboard off of the top, and shoved it away. "So how'd you score a reprieve for me? Usually Sunny's got me by the balls in here, cleaning up the s**t - literally." He yawned wildly, and shook the cobwebs out of his head. His eyes were back to being dark with circles of exhaustion, but other than that, he looked happy.

"I hear you, man. I hate hospital smell. Even aside the whole bedpan thing." Jordan waited until Robert had gotten himself signed out, then led the way out of the infirmary. The smell of hospitals was associated with nothing positive in his life, and he was always quietly relieved to get out of the infirmary area. "Let's go grab our patrol gear. Unless you need a quick break before we get going." He gave Robert a concerned once-over. His friend looked tired, but there was something alive in his expression that reassured Jordan. He laughed. "I told her I was worried about your mental health and suggested that you'd be able to work with renewed energy and effectiveness if you spent some time on another task to give your mind a rest. And hey, I had a patrol on which I needed backup from a Life division member, unless she had someone in mind who was doing a less vital task. She thinks I'm up to something, but that's nothing new. I think she mostly let me grab you because she wanted me to go away. I'm just fine with taking advantage of that."

Robert shrugged with agreement when he mentioned being worried about his mental health. "Sounds about right. She probably let me out because she agrees with you. I'm losing my mind in there." Or what little of it he had. But escaping, and heading out into the fresh air, had him giddy and light-headed. Once Jordan was done talking, Robert wrapped his big arms around him and practically picked him up off of the ground in a hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking advantage of that." He gushed out. "You're the best friend a guy could ever have. And if you're gonna go out there and get in harms way, I am so ******** glad you gave me a chance to be there and make sure you're all right." His hug tightened from bearlike to crushing. "I can't lose nobody else." Before he broke Jordan in half, he let him go. "I don't need a break. This is my break! I'm ready to go, let's do this! What are we doing again?" Briefing had gone flying over Robert's head, much like most information did.

I miss her too, Jordan didn't say -- he didn't have the air and he didn't want to upset either of them any more than necessary -- but he returned the hug, nodding. He understood. Once Robert let go, he hauled a grin back onto his face. "Titan patrol," he said. "Hitting giant monsters repeatedly until they explode. We get jetpacks," he added coaxingly, just in case this deal needed any sweetening.

"Jetpacks." Robert whispered, his gaze suddenly distracted as he looked off into the distance and started daydreaming. "Gotta love this job sometimes.." He wasn't particular happy about the idea of fighting titans, however. He still glowed rather impressively from being consumed by the beast they'd discovered days before. Even his hair had a glowlike quality, despite being clean. "I got a tip for you okay? If you think you're about to get their gunk on you, protect your face. You do not want this s**t on your face - you will never fall asleep."

"Right? For all the crap we put up with, some of the perks are amazing," Jordan laughed. "Got it. Don't want to need extra sleep aids," he answered, mostly seriously, though his eyes glinted with poorly hidden amusement. "Let's go pick up our gear. We might not even find one, who knows. It could be a totally boring and uneventful patrol. Except, you know, for our innate awesomeness, that's never boring." He clapped Robert on the shoulder. Unlike his friend, he wasn't reluctant about the idea of fighting titans; this was a chance to have a serious fight without any moral grey areas, a simple exercise in blunt-object problem solving and a chance to get the adrenaline going and feel useful. Being able to rescue Robert from painfully boring and repetitive tasks to keep him company was an excellent extra bonus.

"BAHAHA-" Robert bent forward and barked loud with laughter when Jordan clapped him over the shoulder, letting the boisterous sound keep his spirits up. "Ahhh, ********, I missed you man, I am making a mental note. Anytime something is wrong, I am gonna come and find you, grab hold of you, and just hang around you until everything feels good again. Don't know why I don't remember that s**t, I already knew it." He breathed a long sigh of relief, and nodded to the destination. "Lead the way boss, let's grab some gear and innate some awesomeness." He did not know what innate meant.

"Sounds like a good plan to me," Jordan answered. "I probably ought to remember it myself." He gave Robert a faintly inquisitive sidewise look, but didn't press the matter; if Robert had something he wanted to talk about, he'd get around to it when he was ready. Once they'd picked up their gear and gotten strapped into it, Jordan led the way out towards the dunes; they'd be doing a long circuit, and he set a pace that was neither slow nor fast. "Man, I didn't know how much I missed the sunlight," he said conversationally.

Robert kept fiddling with his straps, testing them for strength. He already knew what it felt like to go flying without being properly strapped in - he never wanted to feel that way again, even if he wasn't necessarily the one flying. His straps, and Jordan's, both had to be secured, or else he was just walking right back to the dorms. "I know, right?" He huffed out, his head tilting up to let the sun soak in. "The other day I did some farming up on the top of the mountain, God, I think I actually got a tan, but I was so high on the feel of sun and warmth buried deep into my skin again that it almost made me cry. My whole life I spent in the sun. Now more than ever, it's painful how dark life has become." He slumped, just slightly, and then checked his straps for the umpteenth time. "Hope this never goes away. I'll fight a million of these monsters if it means the sun's always out."

Jordan had checked and rechecked his straps and buckles, and he was sure they were well secured. Confidence or no confidence, he was as aware as anyone of the importance of having your gear well taken care of and at hand. Carelessness with your equipment could kill you just as dead as an attacking monster, and more embarrassingly. "Farming, huh?" he mused as they walked. "I could use a chance to get my hands into the dirt some. Where do you sign up for that?" Ferros stirred grumpily, objecting to the idea of getting dirt all over his ring; Jordan soothed him with a promise that he'd be well washed afterwards. Robert got another concerned glance at his comment about how dark life was. "I don't mind fighting these things," Jordan said. "Sunlight, yeah, and a chance to get a good fight in without having to worry about whether you're doing the right thing. It's pretty clear-cut."

Robert brightened considerably when Jordan expressed interest in farming. He stopped for a moment, and grinned that old, familiar grin for the first time that day. "Really?? You don't gotta sign up! Just come up with me, I'm up there every Sunday morning now, I used to go every other day but.. well, back to work, you know." He chuckled, and got back to walking. He smiled at the idea of not having to worry. Jordan was right, after all. Fighting like this was guiltless, thoughtless, and freeing. Suddenly, he was looking forward to it more than ever. He wrapped an arm around Jordan's shoulder and pulled the man into a formidable hug, even as they walked. "And I get to do it with you. Ain't nothing better."
