Jett had not forgotten how wonderful it had been to be able to power up whenever he'd liked. Whenever he was in a hurry, wanted a shortcut, wanted to beat something up.

Wanted to get away from a youma.

Which were every bit as vile as he remembered.

More so, in fact, now that he couldn't power up to beat the s**t out of one. Though, if he were powered, maybe he wouldn't have been having this issue in the first place.

Jett had been out on a walk, as he was want to do on these evenings. Even while not powering up, he wanted a bit of fresh air.

Which would have been great if a youma hadn't gotten in his way.

Jett had never had his energy drained, nor was he keen to experience such a thing anytime soon. He was not the sort to stand idly by why some monster attacked him.

The youma wasn't the most intelligent, nor was it as fearsome as it could have been. It was almost as tall as him, though it was thin and gangly with skin like bark. It liked to flail and twist and kick—which had been a bit of a nuisance at first, and reminded Jett very badly how he needed to get back to the gym.

The thing was damned elusive until he had it pinned against a tree, but even with it trapped, he wasn't doing enough damage to it. Six hard punches to what he assumed was the face had done more damage to himself than the youma—despite the almost-deafening screech it released into the park. His hand was scraped and bleeding, but stubborn as anything, Jett wasn't going to give up until he did something.

It was difficult to ignore the aura of a youma, especially one that sounded like it was already in a scuffle. Valhalla had only recently made it into the city and powered up, surprised that he located trouble so soon, but very glad that he’d decided to show up when he did.

Should he not be there to help, who could say a civilian would be able to survive on their own?? What if it was just a child??

The knight of Jupiter found the location in question fairly easily, drawn to it by both the creature’s aura, as well as its screeches. There was a sickening sound of something hitting something else, and it made him sick to his stomach to think it could be someone in trouble.

Sure enough, he got a glimpse of the youma, and the civilian… was beating it up?

Startled by the sight, Valhalla approached slowly, his compass only half raised as if he was ready to help, but… not sure if he needed to.

“Uh… are you okay?” he wondered with a grimace at the youma’s shrieks, eyeing the creature before looking back at the guy about his own age, wondering if he should be surprised he could hold his own, or if that would just be considered insulting.

"You... don't need any help... do you...?" Valhalla shifted awkwardly on his feet, wondering how it made him look when this guy was clearly just fine on his own.

Jett thought he recognized the voice and only very narrowly escaped responding as though they were familiar; he glanced at the male and had opened his mouth to respond before he had to do a double take.

Oh. Oh, great, of everyone he could have run into, Valhalla?

…Well, actually, no. This could have been a lot worse.

"No," he snapped in response, as he would have done to anyone. Now, pride was involved. It wasn't meant to be rude, but Jett was insistent on finishing the task..

There was a sort of satisfaction in assaulting the youma without the boost of being powered up. It was reassuring to know he didn't need it to take care of himself.

Remarque knew the difference between knights and senshi. 'Jett' did not. He wasn't about to chase the knight off; on the contrary, it was good to see someone powered after so long. Though it had only realistically been a few days, he missed it.

"You're a senshi?" he asked as he continued landing punches. The youma was hardly putting up a fight anymore—and it only took two more good blows before it turned to dust.

Which would have been great had he not already been throwing a third punch, and without the youma's face there, his knuckles scraped against the bark.

He hissed and wanted to swear, but not with an audience. With an audience, he had to contain himself. Instead, he bit his lip and pushed away from the tree, shaking his hand as though that would ebb the pain. He tried to hide how much that had actually winded him as he eyed the knight. "Or are you just indulging in a little late-night dress up?"

Valhalla held his hands up to indicate that he wasn’t going to get involved if this guy didn’t want him to. He just, you know, thought he would offer to help. It wasn’t every day that he saw a normal human taking on a youma.

“No, I’m a knight,” he corrected, wincing as the youma burst into dust and the young man still managed to hit the tree now that the youma wasn’t there. “You okay?” he wondered, stepping forward to try and see the man’s hand.

“I’m Valhalla… uh… yeah like the norse myth… knights usually have names of places of legend, but senshi are named for space objects like moons and asteroids and stars…” he explained, wondering just how much this guy knew about them if he knew what the word ‘senshi’ was.

Reaching up to his shoulder, Valhalla ripped the filigree pin from his cape, using the tear it made to pull a long strip of fabric from it. While it was no gauze, it would at least keep this guy’s knuckles out of the elements until he got better dressing for it.

“Here,” he offered, discarding the rest of the cape on the ground. “I bet you already know how to take care of that, with the way you were throwing punches, but still…” he said in awe. He was never the best at fighting, and when he did it was crude and self-taught. “Are you a boxer?” he offered a guess. The youma stood no chance with this guy.

Jett had to nod as though he were taking in the information for the first time; his eyes had drifted to the ground in the process and he lowered his head to help discretely catch his breath. When he heard the sound of something tearing, he glanced back up at the male. Jett's immediate reaction was to refuse the fabric, though he didn't want to make anything awkward.

Go figure Valhalla would be the sort to tear up his clothes to help a stranger.

Begrudgingly, Jett accepted, reaching out for the fabric. The back of his knuckles were fairly scraped and with all the skin he'd peeled off, the blood was no surprise. "Thanks," he said, flexing his hand before he began to wrap it. "And, yeah. Boxer. You know, you didn't have to do that. Tear up your fancy cape. I would have been fine."

If a few scrapes were enough to take Jett out of the game, he would have quit a long time ago.

When his hand was sufficiently wrapped, he looked up again. He gestured towards the tree where he'd had the youma, "You fight those things fairly often, right? Your job or whatever. That's not the first youma that's gotten in my face and attacked me. You slacking?"

”It’s no big deal,” Valhalla shrugged with a glance at the cape on the ground and taking a step back to give the guy some room. He didn’t seem to be the kind of guy to like people, especially strangers, hovering in his personal space, nor did Valhalla blame him.

“It sounds kinda silly, but it’s magic. It’ll fix itself when I go home tonight… uh, and I guess your bandaging will disappear too, but hopefully it’ll be okay for now…?” he wondered with a small grimace as he realized that it was pretty futile for him to offer something that will just vanish later.

“Honestly, I don’t know what my job is, or why I’m like this… why anyone is like this,” he admitted, then turned to the young man with a sheepish grin. “I guess that’s not really what you wanted to hear. The youma tend to be unruly, but mostly manageable. I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with them… Many of us try to make sure civilians aren’t involved in this cosmic mess. To be honest, I’m glad it wasn’t a child, or someone less capable of protecting themselves,” he hesitated and grimaced once more. “Not that I’m glad you were attacked, just… it could have been a lot worse.”

Jett watched him for a minute, only just barely managing to keep a smile from twitching onto his lips. He didn't think he could ever get tired of Valhalla, and he derived a fair bit of pleasure standing there, knowing Valhalla in a way that Valhalla did not realize. And Jett certainly wasn't going to come forward and admit that they'd met before

"No. Thank goodness I wasn't a small child or a less capable person. Or else you might have actually had to go to work, eh?" he asked, holding up his hand and examining the fabric again. "I don't like them. The youma. Where do they come from?"

It wasn't an answer he was particularly passionate about receiving, so instead of waiting, he continued, "Here, or Space? I ran into a few youma. But it was a few years ago, so I guess it's not like they're anything new for me. You'd think that with as much of a problem as they are, you senshi," he paused, and then feigned a correction, "Knights, might have taken care of it. Though, I suppose they're like rats, aren't they? Lurking in the shadows, sneaking around. You can't eradicate what you can't find. I've wondered for a while, are the police involved in exterminating them as well, or are they just totally ignorant? Or just covering it up?"

There was a hint of honest curiosity there; for a long time Jett had watched the news and wondered what sort of incompetencies must run in the Destiny City Police Department that costumed teenagers were getting more done than they were.
