User Image "What are we missing Emrick?" Jethro inquired, leaning over the rail to gaze down at the young mechanic who'd just been cussing down the mother of blood and sacrifice herself and earning himself a barrage of frustration in answer. Somewhere amid the cursing, crude analogies and copious insults, the captain managed to decipher that they needed a new valve guide. That made his nose wrinkle, if only because for such tiny parts they tended to be exorbitantly expensive. Even more so if you had to hire on someone to exchange it.

"Can you manage the turn over?" He inquired, causing Emrick to give him such a look in reply that he quickly grinned and held up a pacifying hand. "Alright, alright, no need to toss me to the eels man. I'll get you your piece," He assured loftily. "We may as well book in for a full repair job while we can - we've a long sail ahead of us after this port."

Emrick just swished his tail in response, angry as a cat with its paw in a trap and best left alone until his temper settled. There wan't a man aboard the Vangaurd save the captain himself who was attached to the vessel as Emrick was, and in truth even Jethro was far from the younger fellow's dedication to keeping her tip-top.

Shaking his head, Jethro flicked some of his hair from his good eye and gazed at the port for a time, before turning his head back to bark an order at his first mate. Once that was settled, the captain vaulted himself off the ship and over the rail, failing to double check that the ground remained clear. Had he done so, perhaps things would not have gone quite as they did.

Realizing his mistake mid-air, Jethro shouted a warning, though it was too late to spare the fellow below him from a most undignified landing. Twisting himself as best he could, Jethro grabbed his poor victim and used himself to take the brunt of the fall in the best method of crash-apology he could think of.

Stuck beneath the fellow, Jethro gave a slight huff. "Well now, that could have gone better. You alright there sir?" He asked, loftily enough.

Rolaiin was very rarely out before full on night, but this was one of those rare occasions. He picked his way lightly through the underbrush around his home. He was out of something, something rather important and he needed it. See being this beautiful and keeping beautiful was not exactly an easy task and it required work on his end. It wasn’t too much work, nothing so overly complicated as he simply would not, could not, bring himself to do such a thing. Work was for… well… ugly people. Those that couldn’t get ahead in life by simple looks alone, and thus it was not the life for him.

He had long ago, back when he was much too young to truly remember, taken up potion making of sorts. It had been his mother’s hobby, something she had done as work to get by in the world. Poor soul she had not been blessed with his beauty. She had often told him this that he was beautiful and that he must use that to his advantage for this world was a harsh and relatively unforgiving one. She had also imparted to him the knowledge of how to brew several different potions, so that he could have some way to support himself should he need to.

This was of course all well and good but he hadn’t found a need to. Not really, the potions he did brew sold quite well and thus he was left with little reason than to do more than he did. He lived a life of relative luxury and was doted on by the surrounding people. Thus it gave him little reason to branch out. Never mind all that though, today was a special day, for he was out picking some extremely important flowers for his bath.

His ears flicked forward at the sound of a shout, strange, he was usually alone here. It was quite a ways into the woods and most didn’t venture this far. He was glancing around for a moment when the most ungodly thing happened. He found himself flat, on top of the broad chest of what could only be another male and smell was heaven forbid what was that smell. He scrambled to his feet, moving quickly to dust himself off. Dear lord he hoped that smell had not rubbed off on him and oh how hideous would it be if he smelled like work.

Sharp blue eyes shot to the other and they lowered into a glare. Of course, that tail it was a Kir’in! What was it with that breed? Were they all so very… lacking in manners? He wrinkled his nose and took another step back. “I’m quite alright; you should watch where you are going, however!” He stated his tone snappish and prissy. Rolaiin turned his nose up ears back in indignation, how dare he and he didn’t at all seem apologetic enough. “Scoundrel.” Ro muttered under his breath.

It appeared, from the frantic way in which he was disembarked and brushed off, that he had landed upon one of two sorts. Either the smaller male was a frightful sort with a skittish nature, or he was a proper sort with a condescending nature. Considering the way he was addressed, the captain immediately filed the lad off to the left.

Moving with an innate grace of his own, Jethro rose to his feet and gazed down at the smaller male with a mild expression. He was a spritely thing, lithe of musculature and bearing some interesting markings. He was an exotic little thing to be sure, though it didn't take Jethro long to recognize he lacked the strength to be of any true use beyond the decorative.

"Do pardon me," The captain returned, his deep voice hinted with laughter. "I had hardly anticipated a civilian so deep in these woods. I did give warning though," He added pointedly - though he supposed this precious little prince had never darted aside for anyone in his life if that stiff bearing was to be accounted for.

His tail gave the slightest twitch at the scoundrel comment, muttered though it was. The captain's ears were often considered the sharpest on the ship, particularly tuned to muttering. Now, a good man would let that sleeping dog lie and pretend they had heard nothing at all.

Captain Jethro, however, was most assuredly not a good man.

"Quite the assessment, prancer," He purred idly, referring to the indignant way this little fellow had scrambled off him. "Pray tell, however did you come up with it? Was it the ship?" He looked up, admiring the infamous Vangaurd from below a moment, before flashing a grin toward the other male that held far too many teeth to be strictly friendly, "Or was it this dashing patch of mine? Not very charitable of you, judging a man by his looks. Tut tut sir."

The captain laughed, shaking his head. "No matter. You're hardly wrong." He gave the pretty thing a wink. "I'm a scoundrel of the most scandalous of sorts after all."

Rolaiin watched the male and as he began to speak his dislike for the male grew, and grew and continued to grow until it was of immense and grandiose stature. He wasn’t sure he had ever hated someone so much before in such a short period of time. This male was rude, to the point it made Rolaiin’s teeth ache.

“Screeching from the sky, as you are plummeting, like some crazed pigeon does not, my dear, constitute as a warning.” He stated his tone soft but holding a delicately concealed snap. He eyed the male up and down, delicate was all there was to say about Rolaiin. He was delicate of build but had the sharpest of tongues and an even sharper wit. “Ah yes, well I believe there is this saying… what was it again… oh yes… think before you leap.” He said with a sort of dull tone.

“As for how I came about the scoundrel comment, you are wrong on both accounts. I don’t care, nor did I even noticed, the boat. As for your eye patch, it is what it is. Tragic mind you but not what makes you a scoundrel. It just makes you unfortunate. What makes you a scoundrel is the fact you have a common lack of decency. Can’t be bothered to properly apologize for landing on someone and have absolutely no manners.” He stated his tone rather matter of fact.

“Now with that all well and out of the way. I don’t care who you are, what you are, or what you are doing.” He said and promptly turned his back on the male and went back to what he had been doing before. He carefully sifted through the flowers, delicately, almost gentle, with the way he parted them to check them over.

Such a snappish little thing. He reminded Jethro of the tiny turtles he and his men had discovered on the far islands. No bigger than a cat's paw, with a bite that would ache you for a day. Though he would hardly consider his call a screech by any measure, he had to take into account the source of the opinion. He did not further defend himself; this was an isolated woodland. Hardly the place for a civilian. He had stated as much already and so it was done, as far as he was concerned.

The only point to which he deigned to reply was the comment on apology. "Mmm," He had intended to apologize and, in truth, keeping the smaller male from being crushed had been an apology of its own. All the same, manners did dictate some manner of verbal acknowledgement of wrong doing. He did not point out the fact that had the little prince been patient, he would have received his dues. Such was not the noble way. Instead, Jethro merely stated smoothly, "Well for that I am indeed contrite. I had wished to assure myself you were well, though it appears my abrasiveness got the best of me beforehand. I do apologize for the rude landing."

He gave a cool smile and, at the dismissal, shrugged his shoulders. "Very well. Do be sure to keep your ears up for any other calls. Not all of my crew is as gracious as I." Pretty thing like this could well meet an unfortunate end through one of his men, and Jethro would as always turn the other way. Piracy was, in essence, a dark way of life.

With that, Jethro turned on his heel and made his way off, intending to make town and gather the supplies before mornings light, so help him. He picked his way with relative speed toward the gear den, as he liked to call it, hoping he hadn't landed so late that they would be uninterested in providing aid. He fully intended to pay them liberally of course, but he did understand that late night customers could be a bit of a flea-bite.

Upon his arrival, Jethro gave a few sharp raps on the door, and then waited with due patience for an answer.

Rolaiin said nothing more on the matter and simply let the other go. He didn’t have time for this and he certainly didn’t have time for the other male. He merely let the other go before picking the rest of his flowers and skittering home.

Peresus’ ear flicked at the knock on the door… that was odd. He shook his head before pushing himself to his feet. Had he actually just heard a knock on the door? He had only just laid down to sleep after quite a nice meal. He had brought home quite a feast for his brother, Daiax and himself. He sat there a moment and was about to lay back down when Daiax walked past.

“HEY!” Perseus stated standing to go and push Daiax with his nose back towards bed. “I will get it! What if it’s someone dangerous?” He stated in a huff puffing up slightly at that. Daiax merely looked at him before yawning and moving to curl back up next to Shun, the black mass vanishing almost amongst the gloom.

Perseus made his way to the door before opening it a soft growl on his maw before he saw who it was. “HEY! It’s the pirate!” Perseus stated bouncing around slightly his tail wiggling in excitement. “Daiax you gotta get up! It’s the piiiiiraaaaaatteeeeeeee.” He exclaimed motioning Jethro inside as he bounced over to Daiax and his brother.

Daiax gave a soft huff as he lifted his head from its current spot. “I can see that Perseus, must you be so loud about it?” He asked his voice rather monotone as he shifted so that he could look at Jethro. “Hello Jethro.” He said simply as he looked at the other male. “What is it I can do for you?” He asked his tone soft.

The warning growl from Perseus made Jethro hunch down a bit to appear less threatening, though it was not at all necessary. The moment he was recognized, the pleasant pink one was bouncing off to announce him. Chuckling pleasantly himself, Jethro stepped inside and followed in Perseus' wake, taking a stand just inside the door and swishing his tail in amusement as the boisterous Perseus was met with the more subdued reply from Daiax.

"I apologize for the late arrival," He began, watching Perseus with an amused expression a moment longer, before turning his gaze back to the closest thing to a gear master this region knew. "We had to make an emergency landing and, as you know, it is best we do not loiter in any place for too long."

He smiled pleasantly, nothing at all like the wicked gleam he gave to the fellow in the woods, but a rather kind expression indeed. "I am afraid I must impose upon you. I've need for several elements and, if you are willing, expertise as well. You will of course be compensated," He assured, as he always did in such matters. "And you will have my gratitude of course," He added with a polite bow, to show precisely how important this all was.
