She clutched the small plastic container of home made truffles to her chest as though it were a shield, scarf wrapped around her fore arm, and her other hand clutched around a large, old and dented thermos as though she were looking for someone to hit with it.

...Honestly she sort of was. She had been coming out here, around the park, having discovered that many Senshi came through here, uncorrupted senshi... and knights...

...Tonight she wasn't so lucky, and the only reason she hadn't powered down to be harder to track (and warmer in her current favorite giant sweater), was because it would also remove her ability to track the corrupt energy signature that was sending anxiety fluttering through her digestive tract in waves and unpleasant cramps.

She was not ready for this. She was not ready to deal with another agent of the Negaverse. She. Was. Not. That. Strong.

Nope... nope... not going to panic. She knew some of the basics from Akido. She could throw a punch. More importantly, she could throw an attacker. She'd stood by her Princess once, and Chronos magic only created a protective sphere.... in which she could be rolled about like an undignified gerbil by well meaning people who forgot that she was the same princess who had, without the aid of offensive magic, helped to fight shadow youma in the garden, and moved stones with her bare hands.

...Her damn Princess could do it. She could do this. She wasn't going to panic. She wasn't going to panic.

...Ok maybe she would panic justalittle.

...Could you placate Negaverse agents with Oreo truffles?

Maybe she'd find out.

He had been drawn to the park but the unusual energy signal just as he had been the night he met the Parallel Guardian Cat Zirconia. A mere babe in the ranks of the Negaverse and being shoved out to attend to his duties with little direction, Lieutenant Aluminte often found himself wandering around the city in his powered state. Miraculously, the newbie officer had yet to encounter a proper member of the order faction and spent his days trying (and somewhat succeeding) in obtaining energy orbs from the unsuspecting civilians.

After his botched attempt back in August, he only targeted slightly intoxicated women who approached him. He no longer made attempts at mingling with the surging crowds at the clubs he frequented because he really didn't want to end up pressed against the wall with an arm against his Adam's apple. But he was a slave to curiosity and the adventure within him could not stray from the unknown.

And that was how the young adult found himself in the midst of the park slowly, leisurely, approaching the green-haired woman dressed in an attire that could resemble a monk's garb. He slowed, hands pushing back the tail of his coat to slide into the pockets of his pants.

He watched her curiously for a minute, taking in her pale pink and dark green uniform. He was intrigued by the shawl wrapped around her shoulders and the truffles pressed tightly to her chest but what captured his attention the most was that she looked vaguely familiar. There was a tugging sensation in the back of his mind urging him to search his memories to place her but he ignored it, pushed it back and stepped forward.

"Have we met before?" He asked, forgetting the fact that he was in his powered state, a recent development, and naturally she would have nary a clue who he was. "I mean, you look familiar. Do you just have one of those faces?"

He had no intentions of engaging her in a duel for the thought hadn't crossed his mind. He still hadn't placed the origins of her energy signal, something still so very foreign to him, so it had not occurred to him that she was on the other side of the war and therefore and enemy.

"I-I..." Freezing was the worst possible idea she could think of, but happened anyway, at least briefly, remembering the sea of chaos they'd faced at the surrounding, only now she was alone. No other knights, no princess, no senshi standing shoulder to shoulder with her.

He wasn't attacking though. No wraith, no assault...And although her heart banged at her ribs like it was trying to escape, she managed to slowly unlock her limbs from the locking effect of raw terror, though she was still alive with fear at every nerve.

"I'm Hara Berezaiti, Page of Chronos."

She could hardly tell them her other name, but... but she was supposed to be able to take pride in being a page, right? She just... wasn't sure quite where to go from here. He was not the strongest force of chaos she had ever felt, but still chaos, and she wasn't sure how this would end as a result.

"I was..." She floundered, pointing vaguely in the direction she'd been walking. "...Looking to meet people?....truffles?" Her voice trailed off into a quiet, considerably less confident sound.

"....O-oreo truffle?" She added, meekly, watching him cautiously as she held out the box of home made truffles as far as she could with her outstretched arm.

I'm Hara Berezaiti, Page of Chronos.

Her words echoed in his mind for a moment while he continued to stare at her, perplexed. It didn't sound familiar, no that wasn't quite right...Chronos sounded familiar. The word created a pang in his heart, like something was off. "I don't think I know you, sorry. My mistake," he told her, sounding very disappointed. He couldn't shake the idea that he had seen her before, something tried to nag him from his memory banks.

"I am--" he stopped, frowning because he almost offered her his actual name. He kept forgetting that his civilian identity was something that needed to be hidden. "Aluminite, of the Negaverse." He told her, after he cleared his throat. He listened carefully, straining to hear the words she mumbled and couldn't help but smile and laugh. "I don't know if trying to meet someone this late at night is the best idea," his words spilled from his lips before he could stop them. He hadn't meant to be rude.

"Ah, I'm sorry. I don't mean that poorly, but with everything that happens around the city it doesn't seem safe for a lady to be out by herself." He still apparently didn't understand that they were on separate sides. Oh well. Then she offered the truffles and not wanting to be rude again, he stepped forward and plucked one from the box. "Thank you." He popped it in his mouth, chewing thoughtfully before grinning at her again. "They're very delicious! Did you make them?"

Hara felt as though a slow creep of ice was slowly forming around her rib cage, layers of slowly building ice making a cage through which it felt like it was almost impossible to breathe. Even the slight jostle of his fingers pulling a truffle from the container made her feel like she'd shatter, like one of those flowers dipped in liquid nitrate.

"I... I did."

God, she was being so... so...

"Sorry... I guess I just... have one of those faces."

He was dangerous, they were all dangerous, the people of chaos, but he just looked so... hurt.

"...Are you alright?"

Why was she even asking when she should run and run and run and not stop until she found someone who could protect her? She'd learned so brutally how incapable she was against chaos... she couldn't imagine yet why the universe had called her back unless it was to humiliate her further.

When he tried to think about his adventures in space--and his death and sequential return as a ghost-- he was often hit full force with a nasty headache. It ached from the back of his skull to his temples, blurring his vision and rendering him unable to focus much which was exactly what was happening now. He grimaced and tried to brush the page's concerns away. "I'm okay." He winced, unable to conceal the pain in his head.

"Just...suddenly got a wicked headache," he admitted attempting to provide her with a half-smile. "It happens when...I think about space." That was a safe, calculated answer. He tried not to think of the Surrounding often, but something about Hara sparked a memory. Or what would be a memory if he could remember.

"You reminded me of space," he paused, biting the inside of his cheek in thought, "and zodiacs."

Aluminite talking about the Surrounding made her feel like she was being simultaneously frozen and electrocuted, sparks dancing over her nerves. Had he been fighting against them there, or had he been one of the people they'd tried so hard to defend? It made her heart ache to think that someone they'd defended might have been corrupted.

"...You were at the surrounding?" She asked, tentatively, still tense, but curious. "...I..." She wasn't sure how to start. "I... Chronos is the princess of the surrounding. I was awakened there to help protect the civilians that were summoned there." She twisted her fingers tightly in her scarf as she pursued the question warily, sympathetic of his headache but also the danger. "I stood with her there against the Negaverse.... as best as I could."

He swallowed, raking his hand through his messy hair, as he looked at her. He probably stared too intensely, because he was focusing on her face and then her uniform because he was trying so hard to put all the pieces together. It didn't help and he groaned in aggravation. "I don't know," he told her, breaking the blanket of silence that had settled over them. "I," he stopped, grimacing as his headache pounded at his temples. "I think so."

At one point in time he had remembered it so vividly - the events had haunted his dreams so vividly he would wake drenched in sweat from reliving his memories - but now his memories were coated in a thick haze. So thick it couldn't be cut even by the sharpest knife.

"I can't remember, not properly but I think so," he repeated, sounding more certain this time. "I remember death." He knew he had died at some point after some strange space whale gobbled them up. "And I remember light, but I don't remember where it came from." He assumed the Negaverse, because they were the good guys.

She didn't even know how to feel now. It was just a combination of too many emotions, bottled up and banging around and she was the bottle.

"I... know about that. Something... kind of like it happened to me." Would he beleive her? Was it lies? A trap? Even if she told him, would he tell her she was lying?

He might. But the only way to know was to hope that terror stayed in the bottle, and that she could actually explain instead of collapsing in a useless screaming heap like she kind of wanted to.

She used to be stronger than this. Of course then she'd never died before.

"I died too... in the surrounding."

More hand wringing, until the scarf almost cut off the circulation to her fingers. "Youma came, bigger than I've ever seen in the city, and stranger, and they were attacking everyone, killing the others. One crashed into the room we were using as an infirmary not long I guess before everyone was brought home. I tried to stand with the senshi and knights but I wasn't strong enough and it crushed me. The Surrounding brought me back, it brought all of them back, though only a few of us awakened as Pages."

She took a deep breath and offered. "I could... tell you more... but I don't know if you want to hear it."

"I was dead for most of it," he sighed, idly playing with one of the tassels that hung from the corners of his hood. Being a ghost had been interesting though boring. Not nearly as adventurous as he had once believed. "My memory is hazy," he admitted, shifting his weight.

At some point he had found himself looking at the ground but as she spoke, and provided him with the details he'd been missing for weeks his head snapped up and he stared at her intently. "The Surrounding brought us back." That sounded right, how else would he be alive after having died in space. "Who does the surrounding belong to?"

It couldn't be the senshi, because they were the bad guys out to enslave the human race. Why would senshi magic bring all the dead back to life. "How did it happen? What do you know?" He asked hastily, stepping forward. He reached out, then jerked his hand back. He didn't want to scare her. "I'm sorry. It's just...I spent so long not being able to talk about it and once I could talk about it, I couldn't--can't remember things..." he shook his head. "But you have answers. Tell me. Please."

She jerked back when he moved forward, barely keeping from bolting, and only because of his questions, though she was clearly ready to sprint again at a moments notice.

"It..." She took a breath, trying to steel herself. "The surrounding belongs to Chronos and the Zodiacs. It was built by them, to keep out creatures larger and darker than we have ever seen in the city itself. It was only because it was damaged that any of us ended up there at all, and because it was repaired that everyone was brought back when the General Kings and Ares slaughtered everyone in their path. I saw it. Every moment of it."

"I'm... sorry."

She added, because she wasn't sure if he would believe her, and if he did... she couldn't imagine what it would be like to be in his shoes. How would she have felt if she'd been awakened as a page and it had been gentle Chronos who cut people down so freely?

She was giving him the answers and information he craved but it didn't match up with everything he'd been told and taught in the negaverse. It made his headache worsen to the point where he looked physically pained, stumbling back from the page as he tried to process everything.

He knew that the negaverse took lives, because it was necessary evil, but he became physically ill at the idea of the General-Kings and Queens, and this Ares he didn't know of, walking along and slaughtering innocents left and right for little reason. No, it didn't make sense. It couldn't make sense because it was wrong. It was wrong right? So, so very wrong. "You're wrong," he whispered, clutching his stomach as he tried to calm the nausea threatening to overtake him. "You have to be." He shook his head. Even as he spoke he knew that there had to be some truth in the Page's words.

She was a terrified thing, obviously lingering around because he asked for answers and was painfully ready to flee at the sign of any trouble. She had no reason to lie. She was apologizing. Why apologize for a lie?

"We're protecting innocents, we wouldn't slaughter them," he tried to convince himself but he knew it wasn't right. His gut told him she was right but he didn't want to believe it.

"No...I...I want to believe you're wrong," he sighed. "But something tells me you aren't. Why? Why would they do that? They must have thought they kidnapped us." Ah, trying to rationalize the evil.

She had stopped twisting her scarf, if only because she was fixed on him, waiting on what he would do, and when he said he believed her, the relief was...

She let out a long sigh, bit her lip, and tried to find answers.

"I... don't know. But I don't know why you would kill someone for being kidnapped either. I... I was there long enough to see things from both sides. It was the senshi and the knights who brought us food and supplies, tried and failed to bring us home sooner. The Negaverse and the Blood Moon Court, they had a way in at that time, and they only used it to hurt people, and I don't know why. I wish I did know why. I wish I knew why... why Mimistrobell thought it was ok to... to try and take energy from me, to try and strangle me when I refused. I just.. don't know. I really really wish I did know but... but there isn't an answer to how anyone can do what I've seen them do and with such... terrifying conviction."

She didn't mean to launch into such a ramble. Especially with him, he wasn't Aelfheim, or Pharos, or an ally, he was just... he was a sad boy on the wrong side of things and she kind of wanted to believe that there was a way to save him... or maybe it was save him again.

Had they killed all those civilians because they viewed them as tainted? Yet, he was a product of the Surrounding and he stood as one of theirs. It didn't make sense. She was wrong. She had to be wrong.

His mind was a swirl and suddenly he was struggling to breath.

He needed to find others, the civilians he recognized and remembered from the surrounding and validate his understanding or Hara's words. He needed to escape the haze that enveloped his mind. In order to be rational and know the truth he need a clear, clean mind.

And he wasn't going to get it here, talking to her made the fog thicker. It made it harder to process anything and Aluminite had always been logical. Highly logical even. "I--" He stopped, straightening himself and backing away. "No, it's wrong. It's all muddled and wrong and...no..."

He turned on his heel and fled because it was becoming too much.

This was not the result she had been expecting, and she stood in amazement as he bolted. She had no idea what she should do now, who she should talk to, but she felt that she should do... do something.

She should go. She should find someone to talk to. Someone with more experience and better advice. Someone had to know...
