The knock on the door pulled her from her books.
She had been sitting at her desk, legs crossed and arm propping up her head, gazing down with near-boredom at a textbook she was sure she had read at least twice. For a few long moments she considered not answering, pretending she wasn't home, but that all went out the window as a voice called through the wood. Amrita, it said, with an odd sense of urgency. Well now, that she couldn't ignore.
"One moment~" She hummed out, taking her time getting up, fixing her coat to make sure it was zippered to her throat, and crossing the room to the door. Upon opening it though, she was pleased by the sudden flash of recognition at this boil. Finally, someone she remembered!
"Calder." She greeted sweetly, leaning in the door frame. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

Calder did not look great. There were a few bruises lining his jawline, and his ribs had been singing with each movement he made, which meant that even standing was uncomfortable. Still, that didn't mean he was going to lay at home (even though it had been tempting). No, he had heard a few things about Amrita. Not only had she been saying a few things to Sammy, but she had been acting strange to Christof. It was time for a visit.
Frowning at her, he took note that she recognized him enough to say his name. "Amrita, we need to talk." He told her, trying to stand as best he could without bending over. He made sure to keep a lot of weight on his one good leg.

While Calder responded to her, Amrita was able to give him a good look over from head to hoof. The bruising was obvious, the stance suggested he was injured pretty badly, and the way he spoke to her...well, it wasn't good. Had she done this to him? Somehow she doubted it, but who knew at this point. Still, her brow knit together worriedly and she stepped into the hallway to stand at his side, offering herself as a crutch.
"You can tell me anything, Calder, you know that...but first, lets get you looked after, hmm?" One way or another she guided him to her bed, and subsequently tried to get him to either sit or lay down. "What in Jack's name happened to you?"

"I'm fine." He told her, but when she started to direct him, it was hard to hide a limp. Being directly punched in the leg did not help him, and the welling had not gone down. Leaning more on one side, he moved over and was glad that he could sit. "You were saying a few things to Sammy. She came knocking at my door accusing me of the worst. Then when she wouldn't back the hell off and get off my dorm, I had to make her." Well, he tried.
He sat down, wincing a bit but trying to shaking it off. He wasn't that bad off. Really. Just as long as he didn't run...or walk up stairs.
"Your b***h friends can't take a joke. I'm glad I get that much credit." He looked over at her.

"You don't look it." She insisted, helping him to her bed and staying nearby until he sat down. With a friendly diligence she listened to his tale, her thoughts whirling for memories of this so called chat with Sammy. While she listened she kept her eyes down and focused elsewhere, if only to hide the way she searched her thoughts. When a couple of vague memories surfaced, she let loose a soft sigh.
"I'm sorry, I didn't think she'd go after you. All I said was that you acted cold." Amrita sank to her knees in front of Calder's legs, her gaze on his injured legs. "You know Sammy, though. She'll make a mountain out of a molehill." She touched an injured spot briefly, just a brush of her fingers as if to see how bad it was.
"I'll go get some bandages."

His leg hiked up just a inch at the brushing touch, the spot slightly warm and swollen. He reached down quickly to touch her shoulder. "No. I don't need bandages." He glanced about, as if they were in public and not in the privacy of her room. "I don't need people thinking I'm lame. I'll be fine." Though he did remember a long ago problem along the same lines, where Malodore eventually found him in the woods and had to help him with medical attention and bringing back to the dorms. "And no talking to Malodore. It's a bit of a p***k right now anyways."
Moving his leg away from Amrita's hands, he took the hand at the shoulder and brought it up to her chin, lifting it up to cause her to look away from the injury and back at him. "I thought I was rather warm during the dance. If you had a problem, I think that you would come to me to talk about it. We talk about everything else." He let a thumb brush her jawline, and he glanced down away from her eyes to her chin. "I just wanted to have fun with you..." His grip tightened. "And instead you go yammering to Sammy as if I haven't been there for you and send her coming into MY TERRITORY to cause s**t."
He glared at her. "You don't know how wrong that was. That's my land. I don't need people getting into there and starting stuff on MY land." It was the only territory a monster had, their dorms. Even worse, Sammy had invaded his and beat him in a fight. Not only was it humiliating, but it hurt his pride as a territorial creature.

"My room, my rules. You can take them off before you..." She trailed off there as he took her chin in his fingers. There was a flash of something dark in her eyes at his audacity, but in the interest of playing her part it was smoothed over, her brow knit in what she hoped resembled concern, or perhaps even regret.
"You need lessons in talking to ghouls if you think that was warm. There's nothing wrong in asking a friend if you seemed off. It could have just been me." She fixed her gaze on him, unblinking. "Clearly it wasn't." The Calder in her memories never acted like this, never grabbed her chin and certainly never tightened his grip. "You have a twisted sense of fun." She hissed at the pressure on her chin and stitches. "I didn't send her anywhere, Calder. If I had a problem with you, I would have gone myself." Her voice dropped bluntly, her lips setting into a displeased scowl despite the grip he had on her.
"Let go. You're hurting me."

He flinched, pulling his hand back. "...sorry." He said, before setting his hand on his lap.
"I'm not off. I just came over to.." He had wanted to dance with her, lure her away, make the other boils upset with his privileged and the trust he built that let him be close to her. "...dance."

He let her go and she was quick to lean back again, rubbing her jaw. It didn't hurt as bad as she acted, but it never hurt to put on a show, or so she imagined.
"There was something 'off' about you." She insisted none-too-sweetly. "Next time you want to dance? Don't start the conversation by implying your potential partner is a bad friend. You get more flies with honey."

He remained silent, not addressing her little advice. He thought he had been rather persuasive, but Amrita was already dealing with two other boils for her attention. Apparently he didn't amount to much in that race.
Speaking of, he glanced over at her and the high, zipped collar. "Speaking of off, I talked to Christof. Care to explain?"

Her gaze narrowed almost instantly. Christof. That lumpy thorn in her side, still causing her troubles. Maybe it would take more than torn stitches to get through to that one. Her expression eased and she heaved a sigh, shaking her head.
"What is there to explain?" Without waiting for an answer though, she picked a bit of fluff off of his kilt. "More importantly, why didn't you just ask to dance with me? I would have, you know. Without hesitation."

"If you couldn't enjoy the type of fun I was talking about, I doubt you would have been up for the dance I wanted. I guess it's not your type of fun." He glanced at her as she picked at his kilt.
"Could you not stay on your knees like that?" He patted the seat next to him. "And more importantly, what is there to explain with Christof? You tore him up."

A slow, twisted smile formed on her lips.
"And what kind of fun would that be, Calder? Is it why you don't want me to keep sitting like this~?" Amrita mused, the pitch of her voice carried an innocence that was betrayed by the look in her eye. She got up anyway, leaning down to dust off her knees before taking a seat next to him.
"It was a warning shot." A small pout replaced the smile on her lips. "He hurt me first, I was not going to let that go." Which wasn't technically a lie; she only lashed out at him when he pulled at the lock on her chest.

Oh, it seemed Amrita had grown a bit. Was that a naughty thought flashing through her eyes? Now the previous concerns didn't really matter.
"He didn't say that. He was awfully concerned you had forgotten about him." Calder scooted just enough towards Amrita so that their hips touched. Then, turning, leaned a bit towards her. "So about that fun, have you been having some with Aymet? Still a one ghoul gal?"

"I remember him, we just didn't agree on certain topics. He insists they happened, but I am positive they did not." There was a spot on her mind that was itching, a memory too close to the surface. She didn't want to know, didn't want to let go of what she had now all for the unknown.
Her gaze rested at the spot where their hips pressed flush together. From there it moved, trailing up the line of his torso as he turned towards her and leaned in closer, but her eyes never met his. They stayed on his chin, but focused on nothing in particular; it was now clear to her what he was after. While she was indeed a one boil gal, she could make an exception under certain circumstances. If she could benefit from it somehow, for example; all she had to do was try and keep the upper hand.
"Mmm~ A lady doesn't kiss and tell." She tsked softly, reaching up to playfully tap his nose. "Don't you have a boilfriend?"
