As Sailor Celemorrow walked to the parking lot where Sailor Chariklo had agreed to meet him, he reflected on his reasons for coming here.

While his tendency to go for nature hikes left him in decent shape, he only recently had reason to be involved in a fight. His few chances to do battle made him realize just how little he knew about how to handle himself in a scrap.

Then, there was the matter of Sailor Avior....

Sighing, Chariklo leaned back against one of the many trees decorating the lot. As far as privacy went, it wasn't too bad. The out of the way, dingy little shop that the lot belonged to had been closed for hours. And to the best of her own ability to ferret such things out, the shop's owners didn't believe in security cameras outside.

Perfect for meetings.

Drumming her fingers against the concrete curb, she tilted her head up slightly to watch the stars above. Then, she felt the familiar aura flicker that meant her kind and smiled. Without bothering to lower her eyes from the heavens above, she let out an amused drawl.

"You're late."

"I apologize."

He had been kept late in an evening seminar, but he didn't feel it necessary to give excuses.

With a glance around the parking lot, Celemorrow familiarized himself with his surroundings.

"Thank you for agreeing to meet with me. Where do we begin?"

Keeping her eyes on the stars for a another moment, Chariklo waved a hand dismissively.

"Hey, I got time to kill and you're the one who wanted this meeting. So what's on your mind?"

Now she looked directly at him, sunset eyes bright with curiosity. Privately, she thought that they could not be more different. Celemorrow seemed so... elegant? Was that the right word? Whereas she was rather barbaric looking and she reveled in it. She'd have to make some time later to really think about it. In the meantime, she simply gave Celemorrow a lazy grin and moved to her feet.

Taking a moment to stretch out, she tilted her as if mildly puzzled.

"I mean, I know you mentioned training, but it can't be for Mirror Walking. That's like... Dark Mirror 101 there. And I'm no good at using words to convince. So that means... what? You want a battle buddy or somethin'?"

"Battle training, yes."

He placed a hand on his stomach, remembering his battle with Luxor.

"Until joining the Dark Mirror Court, I have not had much experience with fighting. I can't help but believe I've been merely lucky so far."

A tiny smile played about Chariklo's lips at Celemorrow's confession.

"Don't totally discount luck in this. There're times when all the planning in the world won't yield you half the results that a little luck can."

The tall blonde began to circle her teammate as if studying him, looking for some indefinable quality only she could see. Celemorrow hadn't yet had all of the shiny newness rubbed off yet. And it almost broke Chariklo's heart to think of anything bad happening to him. Hell, he was giving her a chance to make sure that he was prepared for this war. Could she really afford to squander this opportunity?

No. No, she couldn't.

"Tell me about your magic," she ordered in a thoughtful voice. "And tell me about any basic fighting, self defense s**t you may know. If I am gonna do this, I need to know what I have to work with."

As she spoke, she backed off slightly, watching him carefully. She was reasonably certain that he was not going to like what she was about to do. But he'd come to her for training and he could suck it up.

As he opened his mouth to speak, she flew at him, fists and feet jabbing in, all looking to land blows upon his tender flesh.

Experience was really the best teacher.

His magic? Celemorrow had used his magic twice so far and he still wasn't sure what it was good for. He was about to say as much when Chariklo assaulted him.

"Celemorrow Tepal Gale!"

The words were out before he could think about them....or maybe because he was already thinking about them. Though it was not fast enough to avoid a kick or a punch, the attack called forth a blast of magnolia tepals designed to convince entities in front of Celemorrow to back off.

He realized, a moment later, that this was probably part of the training, but that didn't keep him from being a little pissed off. Attempting to avoid further kicks and jabs left him too distracted to answer Chariklo's questions for the moment.

Maybe another person would have fully backed off after that burst of magic. But Chariklo wasn't other people and she was laughing gleefully as she recoiled for a moment before pressing back to ramp up her attacks.

"C'mon, newbie!" she snarled. "Don't just try to avoid me, fight back! Are you going to just let me run you into exhaustion?"

As she spoke, she swept one long leg out, intending to hook it behind Celemorrow's knee and bring him down. Poor guy was going to have some bruises in the morning, but better a couple bruises than broken bones or being dead.

And then, just to make it clear that she could and would use everything at her disposal in this bout, she shrieked out her own magic.

"Mobbing Cry!"

Effects - Same as Mobbing Call, only now the call seems to come from more than one throat and it feels as through a small swarm of wings are attacking. Able to perform three time per battle if needed. The attack is now able to encompass 2 to 3 people if they are not standing too far apart (about a 5'-7' radius). The targets are now in danger of being knocked silly as well as painful bruising around the head and shoulders. Also, the wings take on just the barest, tiniest shimmering definition of shape. Attack duration is now 30-45 seconds. Also, should the main target of the attack try to escape, the attack will follow them for about 5 seconds.

Running his opponent into exhaustion would have been nice, but that wasn't his plan. He wasn't used to attacking and defending simultaneously. No, that isn't accurate. He wasn't used to attack or defending at all. He'd only recently had limited experience in either and trying to do both at once was a bit overwhelming. He couldn't reply as it took his entire focus just to pay attention to this spar.

And then Chariklo's leg was behind his knee before he could notice it and he was down on the ground. Before he had a chance to get his bearings, he heard Chariklo shout her attack and the following chorus of squawks which was the harbinger of the sudden battering he received to his head and shoulders.

Celemorrow held up his arms to protect his head and tried to roll away, but the attack was relentless.

To be nice or not. Chariklo watched as Celemorrow tried to roll away from her magic and couldn't suppress a tiny smile. No, being nice at this point wouldn't do him any good. He wasn't being anywhere near ruthless enough yet.

Before he could even try to stand back up, she was on top of him, one of her hands flattened out like a blade and slicing through the air directly at his face.

Only to stop mere centimeters from the bridge of his nose.

"If this is the best you can manage, you're in for a very unpleasant time," she lectured in a perfectly polite and cool voice. Getting to her feet, she stretched and extended a hand to help him up. "Okay, greenie. What've you learned so far?"

Sailor Celemorrow glared over the faux-blade of Sailor Chariklo's hand. He had a lot to work on to get his reaction time to a level where he could contend with this woman.

When she offered her hand, he was suspicious whether or not it was a trick. If it were not, he wasn't certain if he should take advantage of the situation or not. Ultimately he decided against it, took that hand and stood up.

"You're better at this than those I've fought," It reassured him that Chariklo was a member of the Dark Mirror court. "I need to work on my reaction time, at the very least. To answer your questions from earlier, I don't have any self-defense or combat training. If I get the chance, I know to kick at the knees, but that's about all and punches are easy enough."

In reality, Celemorrow didn't know any technique about punches; he would just flail his fists as if he knew what he were doing.

"I can sign up for a class next semester - maybe karate or something - but that won't help me in the meantime."

Hoo boy! This was going to be more work than she'd thought. Shaking her head in amazed pity, she began to circle him again. There was potential there, but buried deeply, she'd decided.

"I knew how to fight and improvise before I was ever awakened in the Court," she said drily. "You, my elegant friend, need to learn to think outside the box. And to aim for more the the kneecaps."

This time when she attacked, she purposely slowed her moves so he could see what she was doing and how. And much as it galled her to do so, she pulled her punches slightly. She didn't want to land Celemorrow in the hospital, but she wanted him to have bruises to help him remember the lessons.

The first flurry of blows were aimed at his upper torso.

"Well? Don't just stand there! Duck the blows, weave under them, use your arms to block me, try and grab a wrist, pull me off balance! C'mon, greenie, get creative!"

Slowing her moves certainly helped. Celemorrow had more time to register what was happening. Following Chariklo's suggestions, he ducked a few blows. Certainly not all of them. Celemorrow was usually a quick study in the classroom, but learning to move his body in this manner was going to take a little longer.

He looked for a chance to grab at Chariklo's wrist and, after one or two false starts, made a much more pronounced effort of it, intending to....well, he didn't know, really....shove the wrist away from him after he caught it? No. That sounded dumb. Smack Chariklo in the face with his palm? That sounded dumb too, but better than the first idea. He decided to go with that.

Well, he was trying, Chariklo thought as Celemorrow managed to avoid some of her blows. Practice would make him better. But she was determined that he would have to learn to fight dirty.

And, much to her surprise, he managed to get in under her blows to land one of his own near her eye. Staggering back a little, she winced, but decided that any injury would be fairly mild.

Still.

"Not bad. Next time, try it with a closed fist. Save the open handed s**t for bitches, uppity hoes and if you ever feel a need to cuff ears. Which is actually a good trick if you can managed it."

After a moment to shake her head, she took a step back and appraised him. Well, he wasn't the best ever, but he wasn't the worst either. With enough practice, he'd be able to hold his own.

"You'll do," she drawled and offered up a small smile. Glancing up, she eyed the moon and seemed to make up her mind about something. "We will be continuing this later. For now, I want you to practice against a punching bag. Work up your strength and try to learn some punches."

Grinning suddenly, she gave Celemorrow a wave and darted off, vanishing into the night. She had a puppy to feed and walk and she didn't trust him to not destroy her couch if she stayed out any longer.
