Golden sunset. Golden lilies. Water dripped off their stems. The woods on the edge of campus looked butter-yellow. Rarely did she stop by the greenhouse, but Medea felt like she needed a break, and plants induced happiness, right? She clutched her cast. Her tiara gleamed. Sparrows flew overhead. She normally strayed from campus buildings on patrol, but she craved normalcy so badly. She only wanted consistency, and no one stopped by the public greenhouse at sunset anyway. They always wanted plants in daylight, but at sunset, they retreated to their homes to read or browse the internet or feed their cats and dogs. Not Medea, not tonight. She closed her eyes and leaned against a shelf. She wanted to watch them shut off with the close of day--to reflect on that awful night.

She couldn't believe it. Civilians dead. An accident, of course. He forced her, but how much force was really present? She could have taken the chakram, but then, maybe he would have killed them anyway? He seemed crazy. In the end, would any of them have walked away?

She shook her head. Probably not.

And then, a signature. A strange one...like Remarque's? Aurora's? Orpheus's?

She studied the greenhouse. Plants covered the shelves, blocking her vision."Hey. Is someone there?" Gently, she added: "I can feel youu~"

All that came in reply was a sudden scuffling noise, followed by a couple clangs, a muffled cry for help, the sound of a spray can and then one, final crash.

Should Medea choose to investigate the cacophony, she would find a black-clad senshi checking the pulse of a man crumpled on the ground. The unconscious man was still firmly grasping a can of spray paint and there were remnants of a potted plant (and its pot) strewn about the vicinity. The senshi appeared dispassionate despite the lurid streak of neon green spray paint across his chest, neck and chin.

Medea ran to the crashes and oh--oh dear. A Senshi covered in black and green. She chuckled. "You have a little something on your--" A shrug. More laughter. "--well, everything, actually." She stepped toward the unconscious one. "Everything alright here...?"

She felt quite nervous, but maybe the Senshi defended himself against this unconscious man? She couldn't tell. Perhaps this was a misunderstanding. Perhaps he attacked the Senshi! Yes! People always struck against terrorists. Medea smiled. Was she any better than them anyway?

She killed a few people, on accident, but still, by her hand.

Did that make her bad?

Maybe he never killed or hurt. Did that make him better? Even if his faction seemed questionable?

"Who are you, Mirror Senshi?"

The black-clad senshi glanced down at his uniform as Medea laughed at his condition. He touched the streak of wet paint experimentally, getting it on his gloves. With a grimace, he stood up.

"He'll live."

He pointed to a shelf high above the unconscious man where some potted plants were stored.

"A pot fell and hit him on the head."

It wasn't the whole truth, but it was the truth. A pity. The man wasn't any good to him like this. Vandal or no, Celemorrow didn't want to risk energy-draining an unconscious man. Besides, a White Moon senshi was here. He couldn't risk letting his guard down.

"I am Sailor Celemorrow. Who are you?"

"Oh did you startle him?" There. A perfectly reasonable explanation. No malice at all. Celemorrow simply startled the man, who sprayed all over him and knocked over a pot. No biggie. "Perhaps we should call an ambulance?" She brushed past. "My name is Medea, Senshi of Enchantment."

The roses in the corner blossomed full and ripe with color. Yet, she plucked the white, ignoring the thorns as they scraped her fingers.

"So what brings you out here, Celemorrow?" She moved one of the pots and slid onto the shelf. "Flowers?" She nodded in the direction of the unconscious man with a smile. "Messing with some vandalists?"

The sky turned pink.

"I'm glad he'll live. Living is good. Good to know you're not a killer. Yes." She nodded--a bit on-edge from the encounter in the woods. "Always good not to associate with murderers, don't you agree?"

"I...interrupted him, though I guess I did also startle him."

He looked down at the man.

"I would rather not be here when the ambulance arrives," the agreement that an ambulance should, indeed, be called was unspoken, "Perhaps the police should be called as well. He was about to paint all over the roses."

The fact that most of the White Moon senshi he had met had carried themselves with a fairly lackadaisical attitude (with the exception of one) perplexed him.

"I did come here for him, but he's no use to me now."

He refused to drop his guard, even after Medea sat down.

"I have no intention of killing over some spray-painted roses, but I have no qualms killing to protect myself. What brings you here?"

"Came for him?" She muttered, dialing for an ambulance and the police. She finished the call and shut her phone. Did she want to know? Did she want to fight tonight? With a broken arm and broken spirit? Not really. She smiled. She wouldn't respond to that. She could easily conjure up an explanation. Maybe he needed something from the unconscious one. Like asthma medication. Yes. Obviously. Celemorrow looked quite faint of breath. She slid off the shelf. "They'll be here shortly."

She laughed and twisted a curl behind her ear. Where to begin? Well, several civilians died because of her, then an officer force-fed her a starseed. Also, she faced increasing pressure to abandon her friends aligned with Chaos. Also, everyone who almost kissed her hurt her. Also, she couldn't game very well with a broken arm, so she couldn't gain new ranks in Tetris or her MMOs, and she felt deeply, terribly, horribly sad all the time. Ever since she started this Senshi life, she tore at the seams. Not even the roses in her room could cheer her up, so she visited the greenhouse, and lo and behold, there stood a Dark Mirror Senshi who would maybe kill her, reminding her of her mortality. Was that enough Celemorrow? Did you have enough yet?

"I like flowers." She smiled. "I've visited during the day, but I wanted to see what it's like at sunset." She opened an exit facing the woods. "Shall we?"

If Celemorrow were to be entirely honest, he had actually been in the area for the flowers as well. He just happened to notice the vandal upon his arrival and attempted to mete out punishment while gaining some much-needed energy for his mission.

It was also for his mission that he didn't leave, wordlessly, into the pink twilight. So, still not quite trusting her, he followed Sailor Medea away from the place where police and emergency medical staff would soon be amassing.

There would be other days to see the flowers.

"Thank you."

The sole comment Emry could muster for the moment was multifaceted. It was appreciation for the phone call, thanks for moving their conversation away from what would soon be a very busy place and gratitude for not attacking him on sight.

"Of course." She nodded shutting the door behind them. They stood before the woods. Deep within those woods, the bodies fell. What a terrible night. She laughed. "Dark Mirror Senshi are alright, you know?" She said it for her comfort rather than his. Her hands shook. "Just different. Like me. Right? Not all Senshi are bad." She studied him for an answer--anything to affirm she wasn't bad. "I mean, if your friends are good, doesn't that make you good? Doesn't recognizing their goodness and suggests you're good as well?"

Oaks rustled.

She reached so desperately to the poor stranger for any affirmation that she was okay. That it wasn't her fault. She used him--neglecting any of his concerns or beliefs. She only wanted to know she'd be alright.

"I'm very torn up about this, my stranger." She sighed and faced the woods."I want to be good, but--"

"Your questions do not have simple answers."

He guardedly studied Medea's own face to look for any reason why she was asking him this.

"I do not believe goodness can be merely acquired through proximity or friendship. The beekeeper and the child stung will both have a different opinion on the goodness of a bee. As will the bee itself. If you destroy the bee because it stings, you destroy the bee's life and the beekeeper's income."

"But perhaps the bee was an invasive species and threatened to wipe out all of the native bees. The bees are merely acting as their species are familiar with acting, but the damage will be done."

He paused.

"We senshi are an invasive species."

"But Celemorrow!" She teared up. Not now. Please, tears, stahp. "What if the bee has a really good heart and doesn't want to extinguish others? " She wiped her eyes. "What if the bee only extinguishes by accident?"

Sirens.

Smiling, eyes wet, she faced him.

"Closer to the woods we go--" She drifted forward. "So what does that mean exactly?" Darkness. A moon. "Who are we invading? Civilians?" She frowned. "Is it our purpose to annihilate them?"

"If the bee can learn how to change, maybe."

Hearing the sounds of the sirens, he followed Medea into the woods.

"But I think we senshi are more like...like a lily of the valley. Or maybe a mix between the two. Metaphors aren't perfect. But like a lily of the valley in that just our presence poisons our surroundings whether or not we choose it. We don't belong on Earth. This planet is suffering because we linger here."

"Celemorrow." She approached him, looking at him very seriously. "Then where should we go?" She frowned. Bright eyes. Wet eyes."I just--"

She choked and shook her head. Dead people. Dead people. Dead people. A bat fluttered from its branch. Blood sunk into the earth. Bischofite.

"--I don't want to hurt."

She frowned.

"Where do you go, Celemorrow?" An owl. "Can I go there too? I want to escape this, somehow..."

Celemorrow eyed his companion in the woods. She had grown progressively emotional throughout the conversation and he was having trouble discerning whether it was solely his words or something deeper that he wasn't aware of which brought the tears to her eyes.

"We should go back to our homes in the stars."

He glanced up to the treetops, trying to see the first stars of twilight past the leaves and branches. He wanted so desperately to see the planet he came from.

"I haven't been able to get to mine, yet, but that is where I will go."

"Yes." Her eyes widened. Tears spilled down her cheeks. "Yes. You're right. If we could just go back--" She could lock herself away and never hurt again. No one would deal with her--this monster. This terrible creature. She wouldn't pain others again. No. Never. She wiped her eyes. "Is that really why you would go?"

Her shoulders slumped.

"Do you want to leave just so you won't harm others?" She shivered. "Is it really our destiny to exterminate?" She hugged herself. "I don't want to hurt anymore--"
