Bix was still working on setting up the tournament. He'd had Taym help him rope off the arena areas and now he needed a 'base' of operations and some signage. This of course didn't require help but he'd seen some shiny new, freshly hatched faces and it was always fun to order newbs around. So he was rummaging through a closet on the trainee level of the dorms while he waited for someone new to hijack.

The sound of rummaging caught his attention from the end of the otherwise empty hall. While it might not be something to worry about, it certainly seemed like something that would be worth investigating on the off chance that it lead to something interesting. He twirled his keychain idly around his finger, whistling to himself as he made his way down the hall towards the common room. He then paused, giving a quick glance around.

Bix heard jingling and popped his head out from the closet door. With only the backlight of sun behind him, his white hair and pale skin made him glow like a beacon. "You! Newb.. uhhh.. Mike Tyson.. c'mere." Hopefully the guy didn't get offended by that. "Important ummmm MISSION." He winked a few times sneakily.

"Arland Essex, actually, but close." He managed a smirk, tucking Tivadar back into his pocket before heading over to where he was being so subtly summoned. "Something in your eye? Or is this a special Dues code language that I haven't picked up yet? Because if you need help with something, all you have to do is ask." He was grinning now, thumbs hooked in his pants pockets as he tried to figure out what the other was up to.

"I need help making signs!" Bix tugged and tugged and finally yanked a couple of old boxes out of the closet. They were half collapsed and smooshed and wrinkled but well.. all he cared was that they were made of cardboard. "I'm running the tournament we're gonna have soon and I just need some finishing touches." His ducked back into the closet and came out with a huge box of markers. "But may have to sift through and find the not dried out markers."

"Tournament? Oh, yeah! I remember seeing the information on that. Signed up myself, actually." He nodded. "Not too sure how good I'll be, all in all, but I figure a chance to get some practice in and meet people won't be bad either way." He snagged the boxes that the other hand yanked out of the closet, moving them out of the way to give him a bit more room to emerge with the markers. "So let's get started on that. Test the markers out first? Ditch the bad ones while you tell me what we need these signs to say?"

"Awesome. Oh and a banner but I already grabbed a bunch of spare canvas for that. We'll use the backside cause the front side was a drop cloth when we did repairs in the dorms last time it got wrecked." He said it casually, as if the dorms got wrecked on a regular basis. "Arland? I'm Bix." He held out his hand. "And you are aaaaaaa..." He craned his neck. "Moon? Cool. My girlfriend's a moon. Ceres, you know her?" His coat wasn't totally on, sort of belted and hanging around his waist, but the sun logo was very visible. "So do I call you umm Arl? Land? Or do you do the 'only my full name' thing. Or do you have a nickname totally unrelated?" Cause Bix obviously wasn't his birth name.

"Ceres?" His brow lofted before he shook his head. "No, can't say I've run into her yet, but if she's a Moon I'm sure I will once we start getting assignments that involve something other than housework and basic chores." "Land, usually. Goes a bit more with the whole 'free spirit' bit and makes me sound a little less like a tool than 'Arl' might." He smirked, conveniently bypassing the part where the other mentioned the dorms getting 'wrecked', not entirely sure he wanted to press on that right now.

"I dunno.. in Dragon Age, Arl is like a title. Like Lord of Lady.. which is kinda cool but...." Did this guy know video games? How come so few people his age on this island knew any video games? "Land is good enough. Free spirit like hippy or like beat of your own drum..?" Which in his mind was just a hippy pretending not to be a hippy. "I go for the more 'talkative friendly nerd' vibe." He seemed to have it down it seemed. "Ok I think we got the stuff lets head outside." He kicked the boxes to the side and closed the closet before hefting what he could carry and walking for the doors.

"Little bit of both, depending on who you're asking?" He laughed, shaking his head as he stooped down to pick up what he could as well, ready to follow the other. "Never played Dragon Age... Was too into table-top things; imagining my own monsters based off of verbal descriptions than spending time parked in front of a telly. Socialized a little bit more that way, I think. Heard it was fun, though. One of my friends back on the mundane side of things was in it all for the relationships."

They got outside and it was clear where the arenas were by the large roped off areas. He pointed to show Land and made his way to the training fields. "I didn't know anyone near me who liked the things I did... so I couldn't really do D&D." It did rely heavily on a group setting after all. "Closest I got with people was video games and like... Toonami. Girlfriends got into Sailor Moon and stuff so at least it wasn't a total loss. But now I know what too much about magical girl things.." He grinned. "But I think the girls just liked playing with my hair." He touched his head, a sad look passing. "I had a braid like down to my knees like 6 months ago. Lost it in a fight." Skye Starrfyre Argh sorry i let this slip
