So i've never been into buying games other than PC games, but i'm getting my husband a PS4 for Christmas and am curious to know if we (the public) already know the titles of any games that will be coming out before then.
For example i know that Battlefield 4, Killzone, Knack, and Watch Dogs will all be out for the PS4 launch date and I know a few titles that have Dec 31 and January '14 dates but does that mean there will not be any other titles available for purchase before Christmas? I just want to know for budgeting reasons because as of now the only game that is of interest is Killzone.
Since i'm new to this stuff i'm not sure about how far in advance release dates are announced for games so sorry for my NOOB question crying

So to summarize this buyer's guide to next gen consoles: Don't.
Screw all of that. Get him Dark Souls 2. He could probably use the a** kicking it'd dish out.

A good few games on their way for ps4
plus alot of old goodies(the abandoned ones) are going to be revamped and released on ps4 razz
but as with most consoles it'll seem dull and such at first but in the long run worth it be

That's because they don't give game makers a lot of time to tinker to see the possibilities.

That's actually a good point, however if everyone did that....the market would sink pretty bad as they would take the no one buying it as a sign of needing to take everything back to the drawing board and cancel all current console production. It's a slippery slope.

Luckily: The will always be plenty of enthusiasts who want the newest of whatever they like, so the risk of hardware with popular branches not selling well should be considerably low. This include gaming consoles, computer parts and Apple products. Having a bunch of people reconsider to not buy a console at launch won't hurt that much. The primary income will come from the games and services sold. Thanks to the internet and conventions, the designers and marketers will have plenty of feedback on the stuff announced before launch.

Divine_Malevolence So to summarize this buyer's guide to next gen consoles: Don't. Screw all of that. Get him Dark Souls 2. He could probably use the a** kicking it'd dish out. Dark Souls 2 is coming out on PS3 and 360. Not on the next gen consoles... I THINK. He hasn't really said anything about a release past current gen.

I dun see the point in next gen consoles, really. Why even bother with 'em if there's nothing specific you know you want on 'em?

Although I have PSN+ so I'm getting a few free games when I get the console

Thinking 'bout it: Beside the PSN+ offer, there are a few pre-PS4 games that are going to be digitally distributed through the Playstation online store (whatever that is called). They are supposedly going to be runnable on the PS4. If you're interested in those games and want to take use of the internal recording/streaming functions of the PS4, perhaps getting it is something to consider. Another consideration is some of the lag/framerate issues I've heard the PS3 got. If the PS4 is going to have similar issues, wouldn't recording the playthrough potentially make the issue worse due to the extra resources needed to record?
