Patrolling by yourself was no fun, honestly. Machholz's heels clicked as she wandered through a park, the summer's air hot and thick. Fall was right around the corner, but lately she hadn't felt the chill she so loved. The pale Senshi wasn't even trying to hide herself. It was more like she was out for a late night stroll than anything at all.

Gloved hands were behind her back, eyes forward, but not really focusing on what was going on around her. She knew at this time of night this particular park would be completely empty because she lived around here. What got her out of the house tonight was a pit in her stomach like something bad was going to happen. Though what it was...? Well, that was simply beyond the short teenager. Instead of worrying about it, Machholz's thoughts were on a certain civilian girl she enjoyed spending her time with. She was thinking back to the date they had recently and couldn't stop the girlish giggle that escaped her lips.

One hand came to her lips and she bit down on her knuckle, embarrassed about the noise. Life was good. Since discovering she was a Senshi, nothing too wrong had happened. At least... not yet. "...It might change tonight," she murmured to herself, dark painted lips pulling into a frown. If she got injured as a Senshi did that mean she'd be injured when she powered down?

There were so many unanswered questions.

(I finally started it! ....and this is what I came up with. I'm sorry.)

Sessrumnir had never thought of powering up as a chore. It was something he felt was necessary now that he knew he had the power to make a difference, even if it was only with one person. If he could somehow stop someone from getting hurt or worse then his efforts were not in vain.

The same went for that night — although his original intention was to stop by a bar for a drink and piece of pizza, he ended up getting his food to go and made his way across rooftops, trying to pick up some sign that someone might be in trouble or need his help.

A very faint aura of energy had drawn him to the park, under the assumption that the strange feeling might be a youma. Instead, he found there was instead a senshi nearby. Perhaps she’d been drawn there for the same reason?

“What might…?” he wondered out loud in response to the comment the young woman made, entirely aware that she was probably talking to herself. Maybe she was too lost in her thoughts, or maybe her magical senses were malfunctioning… or maybe she’d just ignored his approach, but he doubted there was any way one could really surprise another with the way their auras electrified the air.

She didn't think of it as a chore per say, it was still rather new and fun, but every time she did, Machholz got a heavy weight in her chest. Training hadn't happened. Meeting up with other senshi hadn't happened, but neither had fighting any evil. So she was lucky, in a sense, but she knew she'd be horribly crippled once she got into a fight. She had no fighting experience. Something in her head tickled. Not in her head, exactly, but there was an odd feeling inside of her that she couldn't pin point. Frowning deeply, she continued walking until she heard a voice that scared the tar out of her.

A scream came from her and she jumped back, holding her arms out in front of her like that would help anything at all. Part of her wanted to scream she had mace, but that would be a lie. Where had this one come from? Her pale eyes focused on the man in front of her, brows knitting tightly. Was he a friend or foe? She didn't look trusting at all.

Machholz hadn't felt him approach her at all, and that mad her chest tighten and her stomach sink. "...Nothing. Who are you? Why are you here? Were you following me?"

”Whoa, easy does it, Tiger,” he said with somewhat exaggerated nonchalance, holding up his hands to show that he was unarmed. “I’m a knight of Jupiter, my name is Sessrumnir. I’m not a Negaverse officer, and I’m not a Dark Mirror senshi.”

Since his last encounter with a senshi, he wasn’t taking any chances at some kind of cosmic misunderstanding. It was amazing how few people knew about knights, despite the group being around for at least two years. It was fine, though… as long as he wasn’t punched in the face, or had an attack thrown at him again.

“I wasn’t following you, I just happened to be in the neighborhood. There was something I felt around here… I guess it was you,” he said with a frown, sure that there had been something just a moment ago. Maybe whatever thing giving off the chaotic energy had slithered back into subspace…?

Her eyes narrowed a bit as he introduced himself and slowly, ever so slowly, did Machholz 'relax'. Something in her stomach still felt off about this. What were the chance of both of them being in the same area? He said he was drawn here, that he was a knight, but she just didn't know. Being a new Senshi, the pale girl didn't know the first thing about knights. "Maybe," she murmured, when he said it was just her he felt.

Her arms crossed under her chest as she shrugged a little more. No, she wouldn't punch him in the face, he didn't feel evil. She didn't quite trust him yet, but that was because first meetings and all that. "I'm Sailor Machholz. ...I don't know why you're here, but maybe you can answer a few questions I have like... What is it I'm supposed to be fighting? I haven't seen anything worth fighting. That's another thing, how do I fight?"

Maybe it was a sign on him getting old that had Michael thinking about how young this senshi must be. In high school at the most. She had her whole life to live and yet she was stuck wandering around Destiny City, not knowing what she was doing.

“Oppression,” he offered as a suggestion as to what she could be fighting. “The darkness in human hearts, the ‘man’?” Sessrumnir shrugged lightly, hoping she realized he was just joking… or half joking. If she wanted to fight those things then why not?

“Oh, as a senshi? That’s a complicated question…”

But he wasn’t able to go into details, because at that moment, the energy that he’d felt before and had drawn him to that place had come back in full force. Apparently the youma was only waiting dormant and got tired of their chatting… Or something. Who knew how youma thought?

There was a loud screech that sounded like some kind of monkey and a lion, and Sessrumnir grimaced, pulling his weapon from subspace. “Well, you’re in luck. It looks like I’m giving lessons tonight.”

She stared at him like 'are you being completely serious right now?' and just arched a brow. Those painted black lips pursed and she kind of just put her hands on her hip, shifting her weight to one foot. Fighting the man? What was that even supposed to mean? Machholz had never understood that stupid phrase. However, the darkness in human hearts was helpful to some degree. Very little, actually. ...Not at all.

"Complicated or not, I want an answ-" then some kind of energy stopped her and her eyes narrowed, swallowing a little. Nerves built up in her stomach and caused it to do flips and flops.

Pale eyes watched as he pulled his weapon from no where and she... Well, Machholz didn't have a weapon. Biting down on her lip, she put her hands up in the best offensive stance she knew. Basically from movies she'd watched. "...What is it? What's that noise?"

”Well, there can really only be one thing with that energy,” he explained, nodding towards the wooded area that now shook with heavy footfalls. “You’re new at this now, but you’ll get used to the differences. For instance,” he said with grin, although his eyes remained serious, “Senshi, you can tell are Order aligned because of how they feel… When you sense my presence, does it feel dark and suffocating? It shouldn’t… the thing in the trees, though… it’s obviously Chaos, but you should be able to tell the differences between Negaverse and Dark Mirror Senshi…

“This though,” he said as a roar from the trees grew closer to where they were, “Is a youma. A typically mindless monster who attacks civilians and senshi and knights, and takes their energy or tries killing them. They look like animals, but when they’re killed, they turn to dust. They are embedded with Chaos and feed off of human life…”

Sessrumnir’s ironic grin slowly faded as the youma drew closer, and while he was glad it wasn’t in the same class as the one who had landed him in the hospital recently, he was still wary of them.

“What kind of magic do you have? Don’t just stand there, get to higher ground,” he told her, leaping back to give the youma enough space to show itself, taking up his position perched atop a street light, his storm glass held out and ready to stop the monster in its tracks.

She followed him as he ran towards the energy, stomach completely twisted in knots. She'd have to fight, wouldn't she? Ugh, this was the worst! Serenity was obviously not the kind who knew how to fight, but she supposed some training would help. After all, this was her job, wasn't it? To protect the planet from evil forces? That's what ********* told her. Her first encounter with an evil thing and all Machholz wanted to do was high tail it out of there.

She felt the suffocating darkness and it made her clutch a hand to her chest, as if that would help it at all. Then the roar sounded and Machholz actually let out a yelp and tried to hide behind the knight. "S-so this is what... ********* said I'd have to fight.." She swallowed thickly and sighed a little more before whimpering. This was just not good. Not her day. Why couldn't she have stayed home in bed?

When he lept up like that, the Senshi of Poison just backed up, scrambling to get up to a higher position. What she managed to do was get on a higher branch of a nearby tree and looked over to him. "I-I'm the Senshi of Poison," she called out to him, answering his question about what kind of magic she had. "But I don't know how to use magic! This is my first encounter with a youma!"

”You don’t know??” he nearly sputtered, but was focusing on the energy of the youma more than her obvious lack of knowledge. “You’re lucky if this is your first. It’s not advisable to fight them on your own, especially when you’re new. Even when you’re more experienced, some can be dangerous.”

He spoke from experience of course, but he also didn’t want to let this girl think that she could just rush in without any plan. Sometimes there wasn’t time to plan ahead, but this? This was enough. “You should have magic. It’ll be latent but if you concentrate, you’ll know what to do. Try using whatever magic you have on the youma when it appears,” Sessrumnir suggested, his stormglass at the ready to at least stall the creature.

Sure enough, a mutated rabbit creature (one that could have easily come from some zombie animal movie, but much bigger) appeared with a grunt and hiss, obviously able to detect their energy just as well as they could detect its aura.

Sessrumnir immediately held up the glass, watching as the rabbit was suddenly caught in the illusion of a storm. But Machholz and anyone not looking through the glass with him would think it was just suddenly confused and frightened of shadows.

“Try it now while it’s distracted,” he offered, glad they’d had time to at least get out of its way.

"Why on earth would I know?!" She asked, her voice taking on a high pitched tone. She was frightened, terrified, really. This didn't feel like another human she was going to be fighting. Letting a shiver roll down her spine, Machholz whimpered and just listened to what he had to say. "I've only been told about them, I've never actually seen one! Let alone try to fight!"

Dangerous. Wonderful. Just what she needed. Why couldn't she have been a normal girl? Then again, most senshi would have thought that at some point. Taking a deep breath, she tried to do as he was told. Machholz focused, trying to hone in on that warmth in her, her magic. It... felt familiar and completely foreign at the same time. When the zombie creature thing appeared, Machholz whimpered and shook her head. She had to focus!

As Sessrumnir distracted it, Machholz jumped back down to the street, landing with a latter of heels. Her body was acting on instinct, autopilot, if you will. Her hands were put to her chest and she looked straight at the youma before she uttered the words Hazardous Gas. With that, she took in a deep breath and extended her arms away from her, spreading them out as she exhaled through her mouth. A thick, green fog escaped her mouth and surrounded her, washing over the youma. It would be harder for it to concentrate, make them slightly dizzy, even. Hopefully the wind wouldn't blow it away.
