He would always be hungry, whether it was physical or otherwise depended on his mood, but TK found he was significantly more inclined toward a figurative hunger than a physical hunger for food. It wasn’t as if Halloween denizen needed food to actually survive. It was merely a habit gained over time, a habit that provided no benefits other than pleasure and a hobby for some to enjoy. To him, he found no reason to eat, but still he sometimes found himself wandering toward the creepateria in order to find something to munch on. Sometimes he would eat quietly with a book in his hand.
The skeleton boil nestled into one of the corners of the room, a quiet area that wasn’t very populated and contained other like-minded students. Some had flashcards in their hands while others softly scribbled in words into their notebooks or worksheets while empty plates gathered next to them. Nibbling on a sandwich, TK seated himself and flipped his textbook to the latest chapter his class had covered.kuumeii it's short i'm sorry LOL..

It rumbled and roared and whined - and she was getting tired of it. Mea was sprawled over a table in the creepateria with her head down on the table. Next to her were the leftover remains of lunch. A crumbled bag had been torn open and strewn apart over the table as she had clawed at it getting the last bit of food at her. To her other side was a tray she had bought, now empty and she tapped an ear against it curiously.
Never enough. The ghoul's stomach made a high pitch squeal and she placed a hand down in the empty pocket. Did she have snacks in her room? Naturally, but that was so far away and she was already here. Sighing she rolled her head slowly and sat up, sniffing around and glancing at the emptying area. Licking her lips she had picked up something that smelled good.
Skittering around slowly she tiptoed past a group of large boils who were laughing obnoxiously. With her small frame she could barely see over them and there was no chance they'd share a lunch with her. Bouncing back and forth on her heels as she walked she managed to spot a quiet corner with a few boils and ghouls with scattered notes and books.
Moving through them her ears bounced excitedly as she passed by a few. To her dismay most of them seemed to notice her intrusion and she pouted. Until she reached a table with a single boil sitting with his nose down in a textbook. Sniffing the air she felt herself slightly drool and tiptoed near him, ears bouncing up and down. Something smelled good and she tentatively moved over to the table.
Preoccupied with his book he didn't seem to notice the small ghoul. With a grin her ears bounced and she moved over a hand, taking one of the small sandwich pieces nearby she bit into it. With wide eyes she made a loud happy gasp sound with sparkles in her eyes and she finished it down, her ears happily bouncing at her sides and herself moving up and down. "Delicious!" She made a satisfied wine and glanced at the one she'd taken it from with a hungry look.
"Do you have more maybe, huh?!"

There were times when, even as he read, TK paid constant attention to his surroundings. Even as he found himself engrossed in the text, he would leave one ear open in case he picked up any interesting sounds. Maybe tidbits that would tell him more about the ghoul behind him or alert him to any oncoming students that decided to prey on him for one reason or another. There were a number of explanations for his divided attention, but today he was especially taken in by the book in his hand. He couldn’t remember when, but he had long known that offensive fighting was never going to be part of his repertoire. He would know enough to keep himself afloat in a fight, but support and defensive suited him so much more. Everything about it fascinated him, especially strategy and defense. The idea of forming strategies to maximize the chances of victory and outsmarting the opponent was intriguing. Without looking over, he slowly reached for his sandwich while he continued to read about blitzing.
But found his plate empty. Actually, the first thing he noticed was someone exclaiming about how delicious his meal had been. “…” He straightened up, no longer hunched over his book. It was difficult to decipher the emotions flashing across his face as it wasn’t much to begin with; it was always restrained. TK’s brows furrowed as he took in the other student’s appearance. Very small compared to him. Rabbit features. And she’d eaten his sandwich, which meant he was a big eater. Was her ravenous appetite specifically to her only or to her entire clan?
He propped one elbow onto the table and leaned gently against it. TK smiled, half polite and half amused. “Perhaps. Would you like more?” Her question made the answer quite obvious. “If you introduce yourself I might consider.” Not that he had any other snacks on his person at the moment, but the ghoul didn’t know that. Besides, he could always return to the creepateria line and get something else.

Mea was licking her fingers and blinked awkwardly back at him as he shifted. From being hunched over Mea had no sense of how tall this student was and found herself looking up at him even though he was sitting. Outwardly her ears bounced once or twice and she tilted her head to him. Was he angry with her? Frankly Mea couldn't tell with his expression and she bounced again with a wide grin his way, as a partial act of apology.
Not that she was really going to say sorry, perhaps she had gone a little far.
"Of course!" She hummed back, rising to her tippy toes and back down. "Oh!" She said and moved back down and shot out a hand towards him. "I'm Alamea though most people just call me Mea, or at least they did before." There was a pause and she rubbed the back of her head. "I'm new..." she said with the slightest hint of somberness. It was fleeting and she muscled in on the bench next to him, still holding her hand out for greeting.
"Well who are you then?" Her red eyes were bright and she watched him carefully as if to observe some sort of prey. "I mean, what's your name?" She revised. After all it was different to ask who someone was rather than just getting their name. Mea watched happily and licked her lips, her arm wavering just a bit.

Meeting new people was always interesting. It gave him an opportunity to put his observational skills to the test. Golden eyes carefully watched the ghoul’s ears bounce. He took in her subtle expressions, the way she bounced while grinning widely. He pondered over the gesture. Did it mean something? It felt like some sort of apology, although it was obviously lacking.
She rocked her feet back and forth as she hummed. She was drowning in a never ending supply of energy that almost made him wonder if all of her excitement was siphoned from the food she ate, but Halloween creatures didn’t exactly work that way. “Mea.” TK tested out the name, which was easy enough to pronounce. He smiled pleasantly, his head tilting slightly before stretching out a long arm to grasp her hand in his. “It is a pleasure to meet you. Oya.” He raised a bony hand to cover his mouth lightly. “Since you are new, if there are any question you have I will be more than happy to answer. I am a second year and resident advisor for the undead, after all.”
Obligingly, he scooted over to allow the petite ghoul more room on the bench. “My name is Taiki, but I would prefer to be called TK.” How many times had she licked her lips and hands now? It was almost as if food was the only thing that was ever on her mind. It reminded him of his own siblings. “How about I buy you something from the lunch line? Do you see anything that you want to eat?” he offered tentatively.

At the feeling of his hand in hers she grinned, shaking it with quite a bit of force for a small ghoul. "You've got a good grip!" She released his arm and watched him intently with her red eyes widened, giving him her full attention - which most of the time was hard to grasp. "Second year?" Her eyes seemed to widen further and she nodded. "That's good to know, I get lost sometimes but I think I'm figuring it out. At least enough to get to class and here." There was emphasis as she glanced around the creepateria. "I think it might be my favorite" That was no mystery, as she figured he probably could tell.
She liked the look of him though, he seemed nicer and inviting, unlike some of the other boils she'd come across since she'd been enrolled. Then again half of that time had been spent trying to figure out whether they had some sort of treat on them. At the move she smiled at him and sat down next to him. She found that even sitting she had to look up at him to properly look him in the eyes. "TK." She said tentatively. "I LIKE IT!" She roared happily, kicking her feet.
"That's kind of big question." She said with a small pout before nodding. "But yes, there's lots of stuff there I like!" Mea paused for a moment. "Oh! I would that that a lot actually." There was a giggle and she nodded to him again. "Erm." Something seemed to click as a thought came back as her stomach's whining had been silenced for a short time. "If you want to, I mean."
This was how you made friends, right?

Sometimes he forgot how appearances could be deceiving. He himself failed to match up with the stereotypical image of a gashadokuro. TK acted far from a starving skeleton. As gangly and skinny he was, he failed to match the same height as his family nor was he plagued by the near constant need for physical sustenance. Food was more of a luxury than a necessity, especially when it was FEAR that truly kept Halloween denizens going. He tilted his head slightly when he received quite the powerful handshake, but it wasn’t bad. Sometimes big strength came in small packages.
“Thank you.” He smiled. “I am glad to hear that. If you ever require my assistance, you can often find me in the undead dorms or library.” The skeleton brought up a hand to cover his chuckles. “I see. Somehow, that does not surprise me.” TK leaned back slightly as she roared and kicked her feet. What a lively bundle of energy. It was powerful, loud, much like his master. It was almost comforting.
His expression turned quizzical. “Is it?” He gave it further thought and silently admitted that if it was her, probably. “My apologies. How about I offer some recommendations instead?” Another smile as he stood up and held out his hand toward her. “Of course I want to. I would not have offered otherwise. Is there anything you happen to want to try first? Perhaps a type of food you feel like trying right now?”

There was a curt nod as the rabbit seemed to be almost salivating over the prospect of more to eat. She snapped out of it a moment later. "Undead dorm?" Alamea wasn't sure where that was, or where the library was. Classes, her dorm and where to get food had been her initial focuses and she had yet to explore outside of that. Or if she had there had been some sort of snacking to occupy her attention so that only vague memory remained.
"You're nice." She commented candidly, taking his hand and standing with him, hopping out from behind the bench. "I think I have an idea!" Gripping onto his hand still she pulled him along towards the long line of foods sitting out to grab. It was a strong grip and she felt him follow. Surprisingly with ease which she was happy for, last time she'd pulled someone they ended up dragged across the room.
This time she had a far more graceful friend in tow and stopped short of the bustling line. Words were something she wasn't good with but standing and facing the different selections her eyes were quick to pick up a section filled with savory foods glistening with different variations. A gut wrenching feeling came over her and she looked up to the undead student with a pained look.
"There's so many choices, what if I pick the one that isn't the best?" She gave him a curious tilt with her head and put a finger to her lips, squeezing at his hand to the point she could crush it before letting up. "I want to try some, but which would be best?"

The questioning tone in her voice indicated a lack of recognition, which didn’t surprise TK. The undead weren’t the most well-known group around school, plus she was a new student. “Yes. If you head toward the front of the dorm registration office, our dorms are on your right. It’s a large building with Victorian architecture. Ornate. Large cemetery in the back, and some hot springs if I recall correctly.” The mention of hot springs caused him to pause as he thought of his home. His parents were likely still working at the hot springs resort, but what of his siblings? What were they up to nowadays?
Eyes widened slightly, caught off guard by the sudden compliment. But then he crinkled them as he smiled warmly. “Thank you.” And suddenly a small rabbit ghoul was tugging him toward the line, but he was light despite his tall stature. It was easy to pull him wherever she pleased, plus he obediently followed. It was plain to see where she wanted to go. Now that the pulling had ended, TK straightened up and adjusted his coat. Smiling softly like usual, he folded his arms behind his back and lowered his head to observe Alamea while she took in all of the sights and smells of the food.
Gentle laughter. “There is nothing wrong with not picking the best. I think they are all delicious in their own right. Besides, would it not be best to save the most delicious for last? You will be here for a while, so you can take your time and taste at your leisure. So try not to fret about what to eat. How about some braincon with grave-y and rotten apple juice to start? If you want more, you are more than welcome to come back for seconds.”

There was a long squeak sound that erupted from her small frame which could only be assumed was her way of groaning. "I don't want to waste it though!" She said, grabbing hold of a nearby tray. "But I think so, how about..." There was something wiggling in a nearby platter and she put it onto the plate, proceeding to pile the rest up into a pyramid of sorts. Her lips parted and she licked them, reaching over with her mouth to take a bite before remembering it hadn't been paid for yet.
With a happy glance towards TK she picked up her tray which had been laden with enough food the pile seemed almost larger than the small ghoul. "If I keep coming back I'll never stop, this should fill me up for the next hour or so I think!" She said matter-of-factly. Mea knew her stomach well enough to anticipate its whining. "I know it seems silly maybe but it's more than just a hobby to me." It was an odd somber tone considering how she had been most of the time since she'd stolen from the boil. "Momma always did say to make it enjoyable since that's the only reason to do it, right?" It was another nod and she carried the tray slowly with her arms down, the weight of the filled tray was apparent as she wandered next to the payment area with a nod back towards TK.
She shot a smile at him with a toothy grin before taking a seat, sliding the tray up and staring at its mountainous glory before taking out a fork and stabbing into it unceremoniously, takes a few bites. Her ears shot straight up as her mouth watered. "This grave-y is amazing!" She commented, making a swooning noise before taking another bite.
It was rather astounding to see such a small figure take on such a pile. She figured until her stomach was silenced she'd forgo talking again, but even so gave TK a few smiles - some more crumbs than smile before going back to her happy chore. Beneath her seat her feet kicked excitedly and her ears bobbed up and down. Clearly her day had worked out well for her so far and she showed no signs of slowing.

He should have known that the ghoul was a heavy eater. TK took a tiny step away from the array of foods, preferring to forego any meals or snacks for the time being. As he seated himself in the background, he could only watch on with a hint of amazement on his face. The further along the line they were, the more food she piled onto the tray. In no time at all the boil wondered if the tray was enough to sustain all of the weight and mass she’d managed to throw onto it. His mouth parted lightly when she reached over to take a bite, but fortunately she managed to stop herself in time. He remained silent as they shuffled through the cafeteria line.
He looked impressed at her observation. “Is that so? Then it would indeed be better to eat everything in one go,” the undead agreed. His gaze softened as he smiled. “It is not silly at all. Everyone has something important to them, and other people have no right to judge that something as silly or useless. Clearly, eating is something special to you, and that is fine. Eating is very special to my family as well. I understand.” TK nodded his head. “Correct. Unlike humans, we do not need to consume food to sustain ourselves. Eating is only a cultural habit ingrained by society. I myself do not eat on a regular basis.”
They arrived to the payment area, and he could only smile apologetically at the cashier as he reached into his wallet to sort out the appropriate amount of seeds for the employee to take. He pressed his lips together as the poor cashier struggled to count all of the money, but eventually gestured for the pair to scurry away and with a nod, TK led them back to their original seat.
The skeleton sat across from Mea, his back straight as he leaned forward with a hand pressed to one cheek. “I am glad to see you enjoy the cafeteria food,” he mused, eyes glowing. “I know some students are not as fond of the food, and personally I would prefer to return home and eat instead, but alas.” The conversation fell silent then, but he didn’t mind it in the least. He managed to keep himself entertained between Mea’s constant snacking and flipping through the pages of his book.
