Photo AlbumKeanu's past and present stage(s).
 Keanu's feather/fluff stage.
Feather and fluff combined. Though Kami wasn't around for these previous two stages, she finds it important to keep the pictures in her album.
Keanu has emerged as an adorable little gryphon. He's so cute!
Keanu's not so little anymore! He's such a handsome little boy, and just look at those stunning yellow markings.

~Kami and Keanu's House~ Kami's home is plain and mostly identical to the others on the island, on the outside, for the most part. She is going to start a small garden soon, and spruce up the front, at least. The inside is quite plain, still, and vaguely furnished, but that will change over time. Kami has a room near the back of the house, while Keanu has the room that looks out into the front yard. She's painted the walls a soft sky blue, being bored with the beige color they started out as. And, instead of the random flowers she used to like to keep around, most of them have been replaced by Keanu's growing herb collection, many of which are nearly fullgrown(some have even been moved out to the garden).
~Posessions~ Coming soon.

~Family and Friends/Aquaintences~Where pictures and info will be kept on everyone Keanu has met(whether they be friend or foe XD), and the people/creatures he lives with.
Kami Kami is a quiet, friendly sort of person, for the most part. She is affectionate and loving to those she's close to, and strives to make her friends happy. She is, however, somewhat shy, and sometimes has trouble making new friends, and can be a bit short-tempered at times. She tries her best though, usually, and generally enjoys trying new things. As keanu's new caretaker, she's sworn to herself that she'll do her darndest to make sure he leads a happy life. Mazin Mazin, or Mazi, as Kami likes to call him, was found when Kami was unpacking her suitcases. He is a friendly creature, and warmed up to Kami and Keanu almost at once. Kami is happy to have him because he is friendly towards Keanu, and is sure the two will make good playmates, for now, at least. ~Friends~ Lucius is more like an aquaintance to young Keanu, as they have only met once or twice. Lucius is special to Keanu in a vague way though, as one of his feathers helped Keanu to enter his child stage. Nehanda is a very good friend in Keanu's eyes. She's sweet and fun, and even has a garden, just like him. She helped provide him with pumpkins for halloween baking, and sent a very pretty valentine's gift, both of which impressed him greatly. Osusuki! Even as gryphons, Osu and Keanu got along well, and Keanu sees Osu as an excellent playmate. He often finds himself wishing, on lonely afternoons, that he could play more with his orange friend. Keanu met Chata a long while ago, when he was still a little gryphon. They got along fine, but unfortunately they have not met since. Keanu has met Delta very recently, after the volcano disaster. He holds curiousity over her, she being only the second girl he's ever met, and hopes to see her sometime in her new dress, when it's finished being made.

~Species Research~Quote: Keanu is, how shall I say, 'comprised' of two creatures, the badger, and the peregrine falcon. While the bird species in him is distinct, I cannot be sure what species of badger is mixed in. I'll include a couple of guesses, though, after researching a bit. Quote: Name: Peregrine Falcon Binomial Name: Falco peregrinus Habitat: Primarily along coastlines, mountain rages, in river valleys, and in or near cities. They are found on all the continents save for Antarctica. Status: Endangered, due to the overuse of pesticides, which caused thin shells in eggs, reducing the bird's ability to reproduce. Size: Adults are about crow-sized, 15 to 21 inches long, with a wingspan of roughly 40 inches. Interesting notes and facts: + Peregrine falcons have the fastest diving speed of any other bird on earth. The speeds at which it dives are estimated to be over 200 mph. + In the sport of falconry, female falcons are known as falcons, while the males are known as tiercels. + Peregrine falcons are prized in falconry, alongside the prairie falcon, the goshawk, and the harris's hawk. + Peregrine Falcons rarely nest in trees, and prefer to settle in cracks or scrapes in shear cliffs, or even in the ledges and eaves of sky scrapers. + Peregrines mate for life, and defend their nesting area and chicks ferociously. + They often prey on other smaller species of birds, such as pigeons, starlings, songbirds, and ducks. Quote: (European on left, American on right)Name: Badger Binomial Names: There are 9 species of badger, with 3 subfamilies, which include Melinae(Eurasian), Mellivorinae(Ratel/honey badger), and Taxidinae(American). Habitat:The American badger( Taxidea Taxus) ranges over the greater part of the western and central United States as well as northern Mexico and southern Canada. The Eurasian or European Badger( Meles Meles), can be found in most parts of Europe and many parts of Asia, and is particularly abundant in Ireland and britain. Status: Common; Not endangered, though badgers that live close enough to civilizations can be and are often regarded as pests, and are gassed or shot. Size: Full grown badgers(both European and American) can grow to be from 52cm-90cm. They can weigh in at 4-12kg, but their weight often depends on seasons, and location. The average badger's life span is from 10-14 years. Notes and Facts:+ Almost all species of badger are nocturnal, and they are rarely seen in the day. + European Badgers live in burrows that lead to series of underground tunnels that are called setts. These setts enable them to survive extreme temperatures, and they often use them for hibernation. + As opposed to the American Badger, European badgers can be social creatures, and live in groups(called clans) of up to twelve animals. + American badgers live, wander, and hunt alone, only coming into contact with other badgers for mating, or territorial reasons. They usually live in temporary burrows, which are often left behind by other types of animal, instead of having a permanant sett. + American badgers are more carnivorus than their European cousins. Typical badgers are omnivorous though, and their diet consists mostly of earthworms. They will also eat insects, smaller mammals, lizards, frogs, eggs, young birds, and a variety of plant matter. + Male badgers are called boars, while females are referred to as sows. Baby badgers are known as cubs. + Badgers, if they survive their first year, can live anywhere from 10-14 years, and in some cases, 16(if kept well in captivity). The most common cause of death in badgers today is by traffic.

Journal Entry February 26, 2005I just moved into a house on the island today, after a night in the community center, while things were being arranged for my staying(my arrival having been unannounced and all). I'm absolutely overjoyed to be Keanu's new caretaker, the little guy is such a sweety. He seems pretty quiet for now, and I can't help but wonder if he's sad, perhaps missing Kiiato? As soon as I get the house set up I'll be able to go out more often, and take him to explore, too. I know I'd like to check out the Cetalu village, and that might be a positive experience for Keanu as well. I must say, this place is very gorgeous. It's quite smart to have people come here, instead of having the little ones raised back in Gaia(which would probably be a fairly uncomfortable atmosphere to them, providing they're so used to this warm place). I haven't met any of the owners or their Aerandir, I regret to say, but I'm sure that shall happen soon enough. It's unclear if Keanu has either, but I'll probably find out if he has, eventually. I'll make more of an effort when things get a little more settled. I'm already unpacked mostly, and I've begun to paint the downstairs to brighten things up. This hasn't seemed to affect or phase Keanu much, and he seems content to cling to my shoulder most of the time(and nibble at my hair), or snooze and/or bask on a windowsill. I don't like the idea of letting him outside alone...he's quite little afterall, and it makes me nervous to think of all the things that could happen if he wandered into the forest. I'm making sure he gets the proper excercise of course, and I do take little walks through the forested areas behind the house. I'm not sure how much activity this stage requires, but I certainly wouldn't want him to become chubby(XD) or unhealthy. And of course, the activity helps with bonding, I should think. And with that, I shall end this little update, until I have found more new things to write about, which I'm sure won't take long XD. ~Kami

Journal Entry February 28, 2005Well, everything is pretty much set up at my home now, to say the least. I'm quite thankful this house contained your basic furniture, as I don't know how I would have aquired any by any other way (are we allowed to send for furniture, I wonder?). My arrival to the island has been a pleasant one, though rather uneventful as of yet. One small incident has occured however, though I feel it shall be for the better, I'm happy to say. While unpacking my larger suitcase, I happened upon a small stow away! I haven't a clue where he's come from, but he's managed to crawl into an opened spot in my suitcase, and has been sleeping amidst my clothes for most of journey. It was a wonder to me he wasn't squashed or suffocated. Allow me to describe. I'll have his picture taken for the album soon enough. He had quite a start when his dark hiding place was opened. He's relatively small, but considerably larger than Keanu. He is, unmistakably, some sort of odd little dragon(or lizard? o.O), perhaps native to this region of islands, or something of the sort. I suppose he was in the cargo hold of the ship, because he certainly wasn't in my baggage while I was back home. He's about the size of a small cat, and is of a very light blue coloration, with differently hued wings, and a little tipped tail. He's not aggressive or unfriendly that I can see, which is very surprising to me. Even more so, he often tends to apprehend what I say. And so, I've consented to have him stay with me and Keanu. Perhaps they can become friends, and I've been thinking Keanu needs a buddy that's more his size, lately. Keanu reacted with considerable interest. He's still his mellow, semi-quiet self, though he hs seemed to gain a bit more chipper attitude. I'm happy to say that Ive caught him chirping and sort of warbling to himself in the morning on his favourite windowsill. When I opened the suitcase he practically shrieked as our new friend burst out, and it took me a moment to calm him before taking care of the other. He seemed a bit huffy at first, but now they regard each other with...what I should call indifference, most of the time. Sometimes the dragon(who I will soon choose a name for), will try to be playful with Keanu, and will often end up getting snapped, or scolded. It's rather interesting to watch, but I really hope they warm up to each other more, eventually. ~Kami

Journal Entry March 3, 2005I've seen great improvement lately, in Keanu's attitude and personality. Though I have no toys to give to him(yet), we make due with what we have. String(and my hair ribbons) make great toys, and he and Mazin(the little blue dragon in my previous entry) often play tug of war, or make a game of stealing them from each other. I've come to find that they are both perfectly capable of gettign along and playing, if they are in good spirits. Now let's see, what else....Ah yes. I've named the little dragon Mazin, though I've found myself continuously referring and calling him 'Mazi'. I'm glad to have him around, as he keeps Keanu company while I try to finish the painting in the kitchen(blue, like the living room and hallways). I fear this won't last long. I'm planning a trip to the community center soon, in order to meet new people, and to find poor Keanu a buddy or two. I'm glad he seems to have cheered up since our pairing, though, and I feel I must work to make sure he stays that way. ~Kami

Journal Entry March 8, 2005Quite a bit has happened since my last update, most good, a few rather....harrowing, on my part at least. One one note, Keanu and I have grown quite close. I's fairly easy to please him now, and he comes quite immediately when he's called (as apposed to the rather sluggish, reluctant way he would come during our previous week). I've come to find that he loves popcorn, and grasshoppers (there seems to be a profusion of them here, and they're quite large, too). It's very fun to watch, except when he gets too riled up.... Which brings me to the rather frightening occurence that happened the other day. We were out, walking, when the little guy just decided to well, dart off. It scared me half to death, because I was looking for an hour before I caught sight of him up in a tree, chewing on a bug. He came down after a few minutes of scolding, not looking guilty at all, and lighted onto my shoulder as if nothing had happened at all. I couldn't stay mad for long, it made me wonder. He's never been that independent, and has never run away from me like that before. I hope it doesn't become a habit, as it would be impossible to find him if he decided to wander away and get lost....

One Afternoon... The sun drifted lazily through the leaves as the afternoon progressed, leaving scattered shadows over Kami's home. A gentle breeze blew, and she had left the door, and several windows open, to take advantage of it. Keanu and Mazin played cheerily on the floor, and the girl wondered how they could be so energetic in such heat. Sighing, she was content to watch, until Keanu decided to dart out the door. She got up to follow, and called his name. "Come on, Kea, don't run off, 's too hot today..." she said, and wandered out to see where he had got to. It didn't take long, and she whimpered as she saw her little one ascending onto the roof. "Keanu...." she moaned, blocking the sun from her eyes with one hand as she watched. Keanu chirupped irritatedly as his caretaker glared up at him from the ground. He couldn't see what she was so frigthened of, and he didn't see his position as precarious at all, up on the roof as he was. He continued up to what he had wanted, a colorful overhanging of leaves that was draping over the roof, ignoring his owner cries, for the moment. "Keanu! Get back down here, please!" she flailed, quite panicky. Once again Keanu was going off on his own aain. At least she could see him ths time. Mazi sat on the ground near her feet, watching with much less anxiety. though curious as to why Keanu wanted up there in the first place. The little gryphon hovered, and yanked a twig down, then zoomed back down to Kami, having the satisfaction of seeing her duck as he dove, and pulled up, landing gently on the earth. Kami scooped him up, looking stern, and glad, all at once. "You little brat!" she cried, poking him. "You need to quit running off on me! Now, what's this?" she asked, taking the cluster of oddly colored leaves, which seemed to have a reddish hue to them. Keanu squawked, and crawled up to her shoulder. "Huh, weuird leaves. Silly gryph, is this all you ran off for?" she chucked as he snatched them back, and headed back into the house, Mazi on her heels. She didn't know what could have been the cause of that, he usually never went after foliage, much. Perhaps she'd ask Alyosha what it was, later...
