"Bye!" Evie called out to the last coworker who left the bakery for the night. She drews the short straw on the night shift, but she didn't mind so much. It was peaceful and quiet and she didn't have to worry about class scheduling conflicts while she kneaded dough and worked on cakes for the morning display.
And she had a lot to think about. Her encounters with Iris and Asclepius both left her rattled and with Dana off to board at school, she felt like her whole world had fallen apart. And she'd quit the only support system she'd ever known to stem the destruction, but it only seemed to accelerate things.
Milling around the closed little place as she tied her apron on and rolled her shoulders, she prepared for a long night of being covered in flour, and wallowing in guilt.

If Evie were to look, she would see a face pressing against the outside window of the bakery. For whatever reason, Annie hadn't gone home. She was simply taking a stroll around the city, peeking into all of the storefront windows of all the buildings she passed by. By now Annie knew how ********* felt about food and she definitely knew how ********* felt about cake. It was no surprise Annie felt herself compelled to look but what she found was not something ********* could eat. No, it was quite the opposite.
Eunomia! It was Eunomia! She was dressed differently than normal but Annie would recognize that face anywhere. It appeared to her during her trips to Psyche, in her dreams and now in this storefront window! Those deep blue eyes pierced Annie's very soul, a small blush crossing the girl's face as her hands slid across the glass. She wanted her to look at her the way she remembered her but how could she get her to notice her here?
Annie shook her head, making a very awkward face as she pushed her head back into the glass. If only she could pass through it. Why did it try to stop her from reaching her beloved Eunomia? Curse this glass! She began to tap on the glass, tilting her head and twisting the already awkward face as she tried to look at Evie while she did.

Evie stopped in mid motion as she tied her apron and stared with a fairly strained expression of confusion and disgust when she saw some idiot making faces and tapping on the glass like she was a fish.
And even worse, she recognized that face, framed in distinctive silver balled hair.
And then when it fully sunk in, she frantically shook her head no, while also yelling the word no, and pointed her arm out in an instructive gesture for Annie to get the hell away and go home.
It was just unfortunate that while she was intending to point down the direction of the sidewalk, there was the bakery door between there too.

Shaking your head no? That sure didn't look like a no! Yelling the word no? Sorry, Annie can't hear you through that glass! However, she did notice the gesture and her face pulled off the glass to look. For a moment, Annie disappeared from the view only to reappear in the door where she immediately came inside. Like a tiger, Annie lunged at Evie. Was Nickeline back? It sort of looked like she by the way Annie was flying at Evie.
"EUUUUUUU-JA!" She squealed with a heavy accent. It was probably undecipherable to Evie.
Upon getting closer, her eyes lit up and her arms spread open to go in for a hug.

"Nickel-- no, whatever your name is. No. Nonono-- NO!" Evie thought she could talk her way out of an Annie hug but ended up ducking at the last second. Which was hard, because Evie was kind of big.
"Where's Ellie?!" She demanded. Ellie was supposed to be keeping a handle on this b***h, right? Maybe later Lydia could teach her how to say 'go the ******** away' in Greek.

No one stopped. No, not until Evie ducked at the last second and caused Anemone to topple right over her. In an ironic twist, this was exactly where Anemone had wanted to be. It wasn't the manner in which she imagined it happening but feeling Evie's body under hers just felt right! Memories of their time together in their past lives and the heat from Evie's body made Anemone blush before she tried to take advantage of the situation. She would hug Evie, and maybe then Evie would reward her with a kiss!
Where was Ellie?
"No here Ellie," she said happily. She wasn't wrong.

Evie shoved Annie away, taking full advantage of her size as she tried to get steady on her feet again and pulled out her cellphone, scrolling through the contact list.
"I'm calling Ellie," She said sternly, obviously annoyed by the frequently invasiveness even after she'd gone and quit this stupid team.
"Get ou-- wait." Actually sending a half crazy girl out into the street with no present day memories was probably a bad idea. Just get Ellie to answer the phone and come get her should be sufficient. Yes.

Anemone fell back from Evie's shove and immediately she looked hurt as her facial expression shifted and her hands clenched by her chest. Why wasn't Evie happier? Was she doing it wrong? Maybe she was doing it wrong! Not one to simply give up, Anemone got back up and tried again. This time she went at it a different route and instead of trying to get Evie to kiss her she went right in for the kiss instead.

Evie was trying to process a plan. Something. There had to be a logical solution to this. Obviously she couldn't just send Annie out on the streets with no memory and poor English skills. That was bad.
She also couldn't have her bumbling around her work place trying to-- wait. What was she doing?
Evie stopped and stared at her with confusion until it sunk in, and Annie planted a messy kiss on her face that ended up being poorly aimed thanks to Evie's knee jerk reaction.
"Oh! GOD! No," She sputtered, turning her head trying to push Annie back by her forehead and chin. What are you doing?! What's wrong with you?"

Evie moved and that brought a confused expression to Anemone's face. Did she do something wrong? Her aim wasn't that terrible, was it? Definitely not! If she did something wrong then she would do better! Fighting against Evie's push to try and get her away, she tried to lean in to kiss her again. In her head, Anemone was asking Evie the same questions.
Why are you fighting so much? What's wrong with you? Was this a rough play day?
"Euuuuuuuu-ja, kiss! We do!"

"What?!" They had never kissed, or at least Evie was pretty sure. She went through all her interactions with Annie's face in her mind, including the ones from back when she was Nickels. That was when she had the most contact with her stupid face, she figured.
She tried to punch it, kick it, grind it into asphalt... She remembered trying to bite her a few times. Maybe she was remembering some mouth on body action out of context?
Either way, kissing from your ultimate nemesis was unacceptable.
"No! We don't kiss! My name is Evelyn and your name is Annie and we definitely don't kiss."
Seriously, Annie. If you could not call her Eu-anything, that would be fantastic.

"Evelyn?" She questioned, although with the accent it definitely sounded more like 'Euvelyn' instead. She was pretty sure this woman was her Eu-ja so why was she asking her to call her something else? And what was she saying? No kiss? That was not true! She seen it with her very eyes! She experienced it! It definitely happened!
"Lie no," she said, shaking her head as she placed her hands over her heart. "Love! Kiss do!"
And then she tried to kiss her again. Maybe she wanted her to prove to her that she still had these feelings!

"No," Evie stated firmly, but found herself under another kiss attempt. She tried to push her back, but the force of that push had been tempered with her understanding that Annie was having kind of a rough time from her mind ******** and it was hard to fully physically beat down on a person like that. No matter how willingly you would when they were whole.
She did turn her face and jerk her head back with a 'EEEEEYAH, NO, ANNIE, STOP. BAD."

Anemone wasn't turned off by the force Evie pushed her with, being used to rough and rowdy behaviour all her life. However, when Evie started jerking and yelling at her like Ellie would her dog things shifted a bit. She didn't like it, and her happy face from before turned to scorn. She wasn't a dog, although it gave her a good idea! If Evie was going to treat her like a dog then maybe it was a game? Either way, Annie used her tongue this time to try and get Evie.
The expression from before left and she smiled.
She definitely knew what she was doing.
No, Annie, Stop and Bad all were words Anemone knew but she did it any way. Evie, stop playing hard to get. She gets it already, you're upset that she didn't meet up with you behind the tent like you wanted. She was here now though, that counted right? WHAT DID SHE HAVE TO DO TO MAKE IT UP TO YOU?

"Uggggh," Evie let out a long, anguished groan of contempt. She didn't know what the ******** this chick's problem was or why she was so fixated on her. Maybe purification messed up your head enough it reversed all your feelings with some really hard gear grinding because last she checked, she wasn't trying to date Annie.
She was trying to rip the skin off her face with asphalt.
Maybe it was all a trick and she was just messing with her. Maybe it was all a ploy to infiltrate the enemy. Maybe she was still Nickeline and she was a devious and horrifying b***h and she should have never trusted Ellie's dumb a** to handle her. Either way.
She pushed on Annie's forehead with the flat of her palm with one hand and fished out her cellphone with the other, found the button reserved for Ellie on speed dial, and desperately prayed for the rainbow b***h to pick up.
