Lydia went to Crstal, Dana remembered. She remembered the uniform, ad maybe Evie had mentioned it once or twice. That stupid school Evie had been so special to attend on a scholarship that had been out of Dana's reach. Now she was stuck boarding at St. Mags.
But considering her grand theft henshin, that was probably safer than residing just across the hall from her controlling older sibling.
She was on a mission, one that involved mostly stalking and creepy investigation into Lydia's comings and goings and routines.
And now, she was going to strike.
She looked around for purple braids and she crept along the route near Crystal, hoping to get her as she was leaving. Maybe to patrol or walk around. Tara said find a higher ranked senshi? Well she was going to. And she was certain she could bully Irene into telling her what she wanted to hear.
"GOTCHA!" She yelled and ran into body tackle mode.

Irene was on high alert. Sort of. She was focused on unraveling what felt like thirty different puzzles, at least. Talking about teams to the teamless, about peaceful solutions with the Negaverse, about lessons with chibis. She was ready for power signatures, but she wasn't really paying attention to her surroundings. So when something tackled her- something without an aura- she was startled to say the least.
However, she didn't scream, or cry. Iris had taught her better than that. She let the move carry her, focusing more on falling without injuring herself than on escape or retaliation. Once they were on the ground, and she had only suffered a scuffed knee, she grabbed onto her attacker with both hands and rolled over, hoping to pin them under her. She was in the moment, ready to fight-
"Huh?"
- until she saw who was attacking her. "Dana? What are you doing?"

"Hup," Dana coughed when she suddenly found herself on her back and pinned, and then when Irene said her name, she just lifted on hand between them and gave her a thumbs up.
"I need you for a thing!" She announced, getting right down to business and pushed her butt up a bit to dig her henshin pen out of her jeans back pocket, waving the super pen in Irene's face.
"********* broke it, I think. How do I use it?"

Even once she realized who it was, it took a moment for Irene to pull away and let Dana up. Because really, what was this girl trying to pull? It was nice to hear that she was needed. It would have been nicer still if they could have done this without physical assault.
"********* did what?" She frowned, until she saw the pen that Dana was waving in her face. Once she managed to get a good look at it, she couldn't help but grin. It looked a whole lot like hers, and that could only mean one thing. "It seems that congratulations are in order. I'm proud of you for reaching this level!" Not that Irene had been the best teacher ever, but she liked to think that she was at least somewhat responsible for Columba's success.
"The pen isn't broken. Quite the opposite, in fact." But something still wasn't right here. "********* did this, you said? It's odd that she wouldn't explain what she was doing. That doesn't sound like her at all." It was possible that ********* was only so helpful with the Asteroids. Possible, but not likely.

Dana waggled her eyebrows the entire time Irene kept her pinned, mostly just trying to provoke some kind of reaction, but when she examined her pen, she got a bit more serious.
"She said it was a gift and then-- Oh, you didn't hear? Evie walked in on the whole thing and flipped a b***h. Started screaming about quitting and being normal humans who aren't senshi. Screamed at me, screamed at *********. Sucked."
She rolled her shoulders in a shrug. "Anyway, I got my pen all fancied up but my old make-up yell thingy isn't working. Someone suggested finding a higher leveled senshi and bam! I thought of you. So how's it work?"

"A gift," Irene murmured. She was about to venture a guess, when Dana went on and dropped the bombshell. "She what?!" Evie had quit? Quit the team, or more than that? How could that happen? What was going on? "I hadn't heard anything." That made her sound ignorant. "I mean, I've been busy with work lately," she added defensively. Just because Dana knew about her nighttime excursions didn't mean she needed to know the details. Like how Irene was avoiding her team a little bit, so that they didn't find out.
Without Eunomia, though, were they really a team? Sure, there were still plenty of senshi that she could count on. But Irene had always felt particularly close to Eunomia, who was both strong and graceful, fierce and encouraging. So was Iris, but Iris could be harder to deal with. After the captain, Irene admired Eunomia the most of her teammates, and was very unsettled to know that something was wrong.
"Is Eu- Evie's distress the reason you can't ask her about this?" Irene had a pretty good idea of what ********* had done to the pen now, but it would be rash to explain without knowing more of the situation. She had already been foolish by avoiding news. That had to end here.

"Eunomia said we're done with the senshi stuff," Dana huffed. She didn't seem to care about Irene's lack of knowledge over the situation or her extreme reaction to finding out, but when it came down to the fight she'd had with her sister, she could feel the rage heating her face again, and she pursed her lips tightly to avoid saying anything too antagonistic.
"Irene, come on, do you know what's up with the pen or not? And don't even think about lying to me."
The thought had occurred to her, and she wondered if she should've maybe waiting until after she got answers to tell her about Eunomia.
"It's not fair that she's trying to make my choices for me. I have every right to my identity as a senshi as either of you two."

It seemed that Irene had found herself in an even more uncomfortable situation than before. Hiding the fact that Dana was a senshi from Evelyn had felt wrong even before she knew the consequences. To hear that Evelyn had reacted so negatively was confirmation of that wrongness. It was also jarring. Eunomia had been one of the most balanced members of the team, at least in Irene’s mind. What could have made her so upset?
And, if she ever found out what part Irene had played in this, would they be able to continue being friends?
That thought was almost enough to make her walk away without sharing anything. But then Dana had to go and be right about something. It was every senshi’s right to make their own decisions. If anyone tried to keep her from her senshi identity, she'd go ballistic. She might not like having children fight, but she would never try to take Hygiea’s pen away, or Egeria’s. Neither would Eunomia- or at least, she hadn’t so far. Besides, taking away the tools they had to fight with wouldn’t necessarily take the fight away. Irene had no doubts that if she didn’t tell Dana how to use her pen, Dana would go and find a way to wreak havoc without it.
“It seems I need to have a word with Evelyn, then.” One that had nothing to do with Dana, or at least very little. If Eunomia was abandoning the fight, that affected more people than just herself and her sister, and she needed to know that. In the meantime, she had to handle this situation. She leaned forward and grabbed Dana by the shoulders, her expression unusually serious. “Listen to me. What ********* did to your pen was give it more power. She gave you more power, because she felt that you would be able to handle it. So prove her right by making sure you don’t do anything foolish. You may have reached this level, but if I see you abusing it- and I will be watching, I assure you, since somebody has to- I am still capable of teaching you a lesson.”
Maybe. Probably. Irene didn’t really have any size on Columba, and now she didn’t have power either, but she did have experience. Hopefully that would be enough.
“Now, to access this power, say ‘Columba Asteroid Power, Make-Up.’”
