User Image As the merriment died down, Dameon decided to retire for the night himself. It had been another exhausting day, and he was more than happy to rest up. When Starry eventually joined him, he wrapped an arm around her to cuddle throughout the night. Unbeknownst to all however, a storm was beginning to brew outside.

His dreams were relatively sweet - filled with days of a time lost. When life was simple and right. Time passed quickly, the demonic fully enjoying his slumber. But it couldn't last forever. Dameon gave a sharp shiver as he pulled his wool blanket a little closer to him. Above the sunlight struggled against the clouds to try and warm the land. It was unsuccessful. Bitter this morning... He groggily thought as he slowly rose to consciousness. The more awake he became though, the colder it seemed. "So cold..." He murmured, finally opening his eyes to...sky? A large, gaping hole flapped above him from the tent. Or what was left of the tent. He quickly sat up as he tried to grasp what was going on.

Starry hadn't lingered when Dame had gone to bed. She'd been just as tired as he was that night. The blue demon had been quite happy to rest her head on his arm while they slept. Even better, she'd slept so soundly. A nice solid sleep. Something she hadn't really done since well before her family returned.

She shifted, hearing him mumble something about cold... It was kind of chilly this morning wasn't it? Starry yawned, stretching lazily as she decided it was time to wake up. Something was wrong, Dame normally woke up after she did. Worse, he seemed to be really tense... Grumbling to herself, Starry rolled her torso to get a better look at the male. "Wass goin on?" She mumbled, not yet realizing there was a giant hole in their tent. Was it really a tent at this point? She groaned. This wasn't good.

"What the..." She trailed off, shocked that between the two of them, they had slept through what looked like a monster of a storm. There was snow everywhere! "Are you okay Dame?" She asked, intending on making sure he was alright before locating anyone else. There had to be one of those gruff fairies nearby, right?

( Water and Shelter. Sounds like a good deal )

"Well...uhh..." He started as he heard the female rouse herself. He wasn't sure himself at what was going on. It seemed though that both he and Starry were unharmed, which was most important of all. "I'm fine...but that might not be true for everyone." He frowned deeply as he looked down at his love, giving her a quick look over to confirm that she was unscathed. "Someone might be hurt out there." Was it an avalanche? Or just a huge storm? Why hadn't anyone raised any sort of alarm? He quickly pulled his pack to him to pull out the 'wussy kit' before standing up. Everything inside had made it, but what was out side of his 'tent' was still unknown. "I'm going to run outside to assess. You..." Out of his protective love for her, the words 'stay here' lingered on his lips. But this was Starry. He'd have better luck telling the ocean to stop moving. "Should come help if you want." The male wisely finished.

Dame had no idea either? Starry felt the frown trying to worm its way onto her face. She knew there were children on this trip with them. They had gotten lost in this mess of a storm too. There was no way she was going to let Dame go out and search on his own. At least, not until he offered the exact opposite of what she was thinking.

"How about you assess and then we both look for someone else?" She offered, knowing he'd rather have her safe and protected. Starry was more concerned about the children on the trip than herself. They did look well protected, but still, she couldn't help but worry.

"It would probably be best if we stuck together anyway..." Survival of the storm and all.

He slowly let out a breath he wasn't aware he had been holding, beyond thankful that she was letting him go first. With a quick nod, he ducked through the large tear that remained of the tents side. The first thing he noticed was the crunch of frigid snow beneath his feet. The second, was pure...emptiness. Unbroken snow seemingly for miles stretched out from the gradual path leading up and down. They were on a wide ledge of sorts, the mountain towering above them. Slowly he moved closer to the edge, and got a dizzying glimpse of just how high up they were. He quickly moved back. Obviously there was no pae around with the snow being untouched. He didn't see any remains of anything or anyone either. Perhaps if they followed up or down the pathway, they'd meet up with someone? The demonic moved back to the...'tent'. "Starry, it's safe. For now." What could have moved them?

"For now? You don't sound so confident about that Dame..." She frowned a bit, looking around for herself. Starry's assessment of the situation was roughly the same as her mate's. Safe. For now. Nothing was around them for as far as she could see, which meant they had gotten lost somewhere. Where did they wind up at?

"Nevermind, I agree with you Dear." The female kept frowning, wondering exactly what their situation was. Well, at least they had the tent, no matter how shoddily pitched it was. They might have water if they could melt the snow... Was there any food in their bags she wondered? Oh guardians, they might have to go hunting...

Besides the fact that they were unharmed and were on a snow encrusted ledge, Dameon wasn't much sure of anything else. This was quickly becoming a very troubling situation. "I don't see any trace of ...well, anything. It's probably best if we get moving now while we have daylight." Already his feet were beginning to protest the snow. "We can break the tent down and take it with us. Maybe we'll find something along the way to patch it up with." As he spoke, the male reached inside again and pulled out his large pack. He opened it to put the wussy kit back in, and caught sight of the single, old boot. Why would they only give ONE boot? "Hey, Star." The demonic held it out to her. "Does your pack have a boot? We can take turns wearing a pair." He really wasn't the 'leader' kind of pae. That was his brother Raken. But if there was anything that seasons on a boat had taught him, sitting around doing nothing would accomplish exactly what one would think. Nothing. If he was more assertive because of it, so be it.

Starry frowned more. This was turning into a situation she really didn't want to be a part of. It was a little sad that Dame had forgotten that she was able to help them see in the night, but it was probably best to move while it was still warm in any case.

"I'll start breaking down the tent if you want to go through what supplies we have. Make sure we still have everything and if anything is missing, aside from the handaxe and lantern I lost to that stupid fairy, let me know? There's probably something we could use between the two of us." She offered, digging her pack out of the snow. Now that he asked, Starry did remember seeing one old boot in there.

"Yeah, I think there is. Not sure though." She shrugged, tossing her pack towards him. With that accomplished, Starry started working on the tent. If they were to get anywhere and have to spend the night, they'd have to make sure that the tent was packed properly. There was already some damage to it from the storm and Starry wasn't 100% sure how to fix it. She knew she could, it'd be like fixing her fishing nets, but this wasn't a net. It was fabric. The thought was more than a little sad.

"Is there anything in there to sew with?" She asked, curious. If he was going through their packs, he'd see if there was twine or something similar in there.

Seeing at nightfall wasn't his concern. Temperatures dropping while trudging around in snow? Troublesome. The vicious animals that night brought with it? Worse. His fight with the fairy showed that he still wasn't quite battle ready yet. The male took the pack from her before crouching with both knapsacks and taking stock. Everything appeared in order...even found her one boot. Really. Why pack ONE boot? Thinking for a moment, the male took both their flasks and started stuffing in the snow. "Well...there's some thin yarn. Might work if we double stitch it. Can you sew with a hook?" Tall order to give considering he didn't know how to sew at all. Dameon set aside the now pair of boots for her to wear first. "We've also have a map, thank the Guardians." He gave a little shiver before walking over to the break down of the tent and getting his wool blanket. "Up is probably the way back to the caves we saw earlier, but down is the best shot to get off this mountain. Which way do you think we should go?" He knew how intelligent Starry was, and valued her input. He himself wanted to leave the mountain, but staying for rescue was just as good of a strategy.

Starry pondered that thought for a moment. There were hooks and yarn... If there was rope she could fish. They'd have something to eat in the case they got stuck out here for too long and managed to find a river or lake or something. That was amazing news.

"Lets stick here for a bit, I can sew with a hook I think... But let's make sure that we have everything together before we leave?" Starry offered, pulling the last of the stakes out of the ground and letting the tent fall in on itself. They had seen caves earlier... With greater height they'd see more of the isle, and the mountain. By going down they'd very well get lost... She pondered that for a moment.

"If we go up, we might be able to reach a cave or two. They're good for shelter. If we go down, we'll probably get lost on the way, but we'll get off the mountain. Height means view, which means we can check those maps against the landmarks on the way." She tilted her head, pausing in the folding of the tent. She'd left the rip at the top. "I think we should go up. We can use our wings to glide back down the mountain." At the very least, those caves looked interesting.

He nodded in agreement of staying for a moment. A fixed tent would be extremely helpful until they could get into the sturdy shelter of a cave. But what she said next made him sigh. She wanted to go up, and he thought they should go down. "I'm not sure if it's possible to get more lost then we already are." He replied as he walked back to the packs. Since she was working on the tent, he decided to use the boots himself for the time being. He had been the first out of the tent after all, and thus had been in the snow longer. "And going up means going further from the way out." Dameon proceeded to put the items back into their proper places, all except the map, flasks, the blanket around him and the pocket knife. Now it became apparent why he stuffed the flasks with water as he pulled them under his blanket with him. His body heat would melt it, and they'd have fresh water to drink. "My vote was going to be cast for going down. But..." The demonic sighed, thinking back to the caves. And they could glide back down, seeing they were both winged demonics. "It might not be a bad idea to go up, for a little ways. Be able to look down at the path we can take and more readily see obstacles. Then if we don't find anything worthwhile, we turn back." Compromise.

It sounded like a good compromise. Starry was all for it, so long as she was allowed to patch up the tent first. They needed that simply because it was good to have something to sleep in.

"Have you tried flight yet?" She asked, curious if he'd managed that or not. If he hadn't, she'd be more than willing to do it herself, maybe they would be able to fly up to where they saw the caves. But then again, she wasn't sure if they would even be able to fly given the current conditions and all that.

The female demon was busily fixing up some yarn to a hook, trying to make it bend to her will so she could fix the tent. They needed that more than anything else. A quick glance upwards told her that Dame was keeping himself covered. With the tent moved from where it was originally, Starry had a dry-ish spot to sit. She was more than happy to remain in the hole created by the tent while she attempted to sew the tent back up.

Why hadn't he thought of that? He could just kiss her! Only...he couldn't. Things were awkward enough between them as it was, their relationship in a limbo. That, and they were in a life or death situation. The male dropped his blanket and items to spread his dark green wings and jump into the sky with a mighty beat. As soon as he went up, he went down. When his feet touched the ground again, he deeply frowned and tried again. Same result. "The air is...weird. I can't get lift." He tucked his wings back in and picked back up the map, knife and flasks. It was a distressing thought that they couldn't fly. What if it meant they couldn't glide down the mountain? "I'm going to scout the immediate area meantime. I don't want to leave anything potentially useful behind." Since they were going up, he was going to walk down for a few minutes before returning. There wasn't any evidence of pae'il, but there may be something from camp that followed down with them.

Starry grinned a bit as he got excited. And then it died off, he couldn't get very far off the ground. He had way more wing power than that, why was he having such a problem getting air? And then... Oh guardians he admitted it. There was something terribly wrong here.

"Be safe, yell really loudly if something goes wrong?" She asked, looking up at him from her work with the tent. Thank goodness this wasn't going to take her long. Starry kept getting distracted worrying about Dame. He was perfectly capable of taking care of himself, why did she worry about him so? Probably because she loved him more than anything else in her life. Why did she keep coming off as horribly mean to him? "Please?" The female pleaded, wanting to make sure he was okay no matter what.

He flashed a reassuring smile while making sure she saw he was taking the knife. The pack he'd leave behind for now since he was coming right back, but he was taking the items he had taken out. The map to see if he caught any landmarks, the knife for protection and the flasks to continue heating. "I will." Then he heard the afterthought 'please'. His smile instantly softened, as it was a rare glimpse into her vulnerable side. He hadn't seen it since he returned home. "I'll be careful Star." Dameon spoke the nickname with warm fondness. Love. With that, he started down the path.

The sight before him was picturesc, the snow an unbroken blanket upon a sleeping ground. It almost caused him hesitance to trounce through, destroying the serenity with his movement and footsteps. But necessity dictated that the area had slumbered long enough. He walked through, grateful for the boots protecting his toes. Meanwhile his steel blue eyes scanned for anything unusual that could be a landmark.
