There are a lot of things dividing the church today... political views, denominations, liberal vs. fundamentalist, beliefs on homosexuality, cultures, the list is practically endless. Many of these things are simply man-made ideas which fall into the grey area, some of them are not, and many things have to do with Godly issues of right and wrong.

So please share some of your experiences, your own opinions on some of the controversial issues that we are faced with, and Bible verses concerning conflict among believers.

I try to deal with all ideological conflict in more or less the same way, whether the person I'm butting heads with is a Christian or a Satanist or anything else. I do the best I can to understand a person's beliefs and their rationale behind it, politely state my feelings on the matter, and then either try to find some common ground with the person in question and/or respectfully agreeing to disagree.

I'm not arrogant enough to believe that everyone should think exactly the same way I think, nor insecure enough to need constant validation and pats on the back from others.

I fully realize that I'm on a hippy-dippy spiritual path that don't lock into any particular denomination and not everybody likes that. I don't discount the people who disagree with me. I came to my particular conclusion for a reason, just as they came to theirs. I try to listen respectfully because I am here to learn, after all, and if Jesus chooses to talk to me through that person, I would like to hear the message.

For the people I do disagree with, though, I sometimes struggle with not judging them. I have very strong ideas about what is and is not justice, and I tend to make decisions about people based on how gentle I perceive their spirits to be. It's something I need to work on.

As far as conflicting beliefs go, I like to share my beliefs and here other Christians share their's and I find noting wrong with having different beliefs. If they believe something that seems logically unsound or doctrinely confusing to me, I explain why I believe differently and ask why they believe that instead. Sometimes I don't agree with their explanations, but to each their own.

As for how I decide on my personal beliefs amidst all the various differing Christian opinions: I believe in modern revelation and the book of mormon, which means that I believe that all doctrine is clarified by God, so I don't have to try to choose which interpretation of man is correct.
