Xela’s mane blew in the winds of the field as she looked around for her bonded. Mei was running late because she had stopped at a city vender to get some treats for them both on today’s picnic. Mei was trying to keep it a surprise but her thoughts were so loud it was impossible for Xela not to hear. Snickering quietly to herself Xela was so amused by her cute little bonded. Life in the greater plains was often cold and interesting but it was one that she wasn’t ready to give up and head to the human place her bonded lived even though it had a lot of other Azrein there. Xela liked to be able to run. She looked up at the sky and grinned to herself. After having a few of those very sweet treats she might just have to run a while to burn off all the energy she would be having from the sugar. That was a great treat and whoever came up with it was a genius. Her tail swished in the gentle breeze. She stamped her hoof impatiently while she waited for her bonded to hurry up and meet her. ‘Really now bonded if you buy anything else on your way to me you won’t be able to carry it all and I’ll have to come into the city and drag you out.’ She was rewarded with Mei’s embarrassment and confusion. ‘Sorry bonded if your thoughts were any louder than the dead would be able to hear you, perhaps next time you will surprise me. Until then shake one of those legs you have and hurry up! I want to show you some flowers I found. I think you could make an outfit after them or have that other friend of yours use them in a dye if you don’t want to.’ Xela couldn’t quite picture the flowers in her mind enough to send a mental image to Mei but she could picture the hill they were near and sent Mei that. It would be a ride to reach them but she wasn’t adverse to carrying Mei so they could get there faster. There was no way Mei would be able to keep up with Xela with that load she had purchased without some help. ‘and pick up a good rope to keep things tied bonded.’ Mei’s happy mental giggle made Xela realize Mei was a step ahead of her for once. ‘Don’t be smug dear it’s just me rubbing off on you.’ Mei didn’t have an argument for that but did send lots of joy and love along their bond. It made Xela want to laugh. It didn’t matter how much Mei was teased she was always happy and joyous when it came to being bonded. Xela found that kind of joy contagious and felt secure in her life even if she didn’t live right next to Mei all the time.
