DestinyCon is Now Open!

Discarded streamers lined the sidewalks just outside a gargantuan building, upon which hung a plethora of posters and fliers advertising the event held therein. Two large glass doors marked the grand entrance, if the large plastic banner advertising the event did not tip one off from a great distance. The frosted glass lining the majority of the building prevented onlookers from spying on the wares without having purchased a pass, but the booths adjacent to the entrance provided plenty of opportunity to remedy the situation.

Two individuals lounged across from each other, each running a purchasing booth, and awaited any and all strangers to flood the place and flash their badges or claim their tickets. The booths themselves sported loud, warm colors, with a large banner supported overhead to advertise the ability to buy a door pass. Those who manned the booths were clad in typical DestinyCon uniforms - an orange polo shirt adorned with an ornately-written DestinyCon logo, and a name badge pinned just above the breast. On the back, printed in bold black lettering, was the word SECURITY - thus denoting their position and inability to tolerate shenanigans. Black slacks completed the look, though they were not visible to passersby.

With just moments left until the grand opening, the main doors to the building unlatched with the turn of a key, and one of the raffle attendants poked his head out to give the signal to the booths outside. He lingered just for the breadth of a second as he took in the vast expanse of crowd that awaited her - all manner of individuals, young and old, dressed in their favorite cosplay outfits solely for this occasion.

All these people... They simply purchased their passes to indulge themselves in time-honored hobbies and interests alike. This was a bonding experience for all of them.

And Adrian started to regret his decision to partake in the affair. However, as a hand jerked him back inside, he was given little time to contemplate such frivolous philosophies. He had a job to do - and no one was going to stand idly by while he gawked at the crowd and blocked the door.

Afterward, he and the short blonde slipped into their respective booth, which sat directly in front of the opening doors with ample room to divide the crowd. The word RAFFLE was advertised heavily - the sprawling letters spilled over the vibrant paper covering, as well as the banner. Even their name tags advertised their duty. Nevertheless, he drew a deep breath, donned his most charismatic smile, and waved toward the first people who drew past the threshold. "Got a dream, honey?" He purred to the nearest girl, clad in a stunning cosplay of Blue from Wolf's Rain. "Buy some tickets; you might like what you win." Despite his clever wink, she went on her way.

And the girl approached the absolutely vast sprawl of booth after booth, table after table, of wares and vendors alike who offered such diversity in their sales that she could barely pick where to start. Each booth had a theme, and every one was aptly decorated to suit their fandom. She was surprised at just how many different types there were - from ikebana to Syfy t-shirts, from Shoujo manga to videogame music CDs - how would she pick where to begin?

Even the walls sported so many different posters and advertisements and artist's drawings that her vision practically swam in processing all of it.The majority of the posters advertised the raffle, as well as the rules for purchasing or redeeming raffle tickets, and others advertised possible prizes for the aforementioned raffle. However, there were also a majority of fandom posters spanning all the major affairs, like Star wars or Naruto or the Final Fantasy series. Intermixed were various artist's drawings, of original work and fanart alike, all with prices placed neatly atop the cellophane encasing them. But as she watched the posters stretch high, it drew her gaze to the ceiling.

It was at that point that Sirsce picked up on the layout of the tables, cleverly offered by a hanging poster near the center of the unconscionably large room. The tables were arranged in such a way to direct traffic to visit all of the booths, so that each vendor got equal face time as the rest. It was a clever idea, really. At least now she'd know where to begin her explorations within DestinyCon.

But it felt a little chilly in there... Maybe it was just her costume.

Bischofite felt the sudden drop in temperature as he finished packing the last set of stuffed animals into their respective bins. Already enchanted to drain energy, he marked them with a purple tag before stacking the bin against the wall, just outside the keycard door to the actual convention area. He despised falling in line like this, but he understood that he had to assume these duties regardless.

With a sigh, he scanned the room to gauge what the other officers were doing - those who opted out of facing the public or filling frivolous security roles to do the grunt work. The majority toiled over enchanting product laid across a variety of tables, each with a corresponding bin sporting the number and letter to denote booth location. The room itself stretched long and narrow, and turned in a ninety-degree angle down a hall that he couldn't see from his vantage point. Down there, he knew, were the locker rooms for staff to change into their respective cosplays or power up without being seen by the general public.

As he watched, two individuals emerged from the hallway in full cosplay, and each claimed a bin that had been stacked against the wall, after swiping their keycards, they exited onto the convention floor, where they would deliver the fresh merchandise to their incognito cohorts. Yes... They were the booth assistants, those who received the mundane task of running product tirelessly through the day.

He also understood that, to avoid suspicion, they were discouraged from enchanting goods from outside vendors, such as those who contacted the convention hosts to obtain a booth. At least in that manner, they might shirk any sudden suspicions from people fainting due to lack of energy. Not everyone sold the same tainted merchandise.

Soon the dull roar of the audience breached the door, and the agents therein would have to endure the cacophony. And as much as he would prefer to slip out for a drink from Jade's refreshment stand, he was required to stick around in case one of the lower ranking officers scampered up to him with a dozen burning questions. The likelihood of that? Nil, or at least he hoped. With a sigh, he returned to the makeshift card table set up with a host of merchandise. No rest for the wicked - not today.

Welcome to DestinyCon!
Thank you for signing up for DestinyCon! The doors are now open, and everyone who signed up is welcome to begin roleplaying in this environment! Though staff and booth positions are no longer open, anyone is allowed to enter their characters as visitors until further notice!

Since this is a convention full of cosplay, quote me with your character and their cosplay so I can make a note of it on the front page! This will amount to an easy reference sheet for different characters to spot and interact with each other due to the cosplays they're wearing. It also makes it easier to ferret out other characters of similar fandoms.

As you may have noticed, in the plot thread is a list of characters as well as their assigned task for DestinyCon. Below you will find the rules for participating in your respective positions! Please, don't hesitate to PM me if you have any questions!

Be sure to check the list in this thread to find your character's duties!

Visitor Rules
Visitors are only required to have fun! Any visitor may visit the various booths, or even come up with an NPC booth for the purposes of roleplay, and spend money or interact with the booth owners.

- If a visitor spends money at a booth, I ask that you keep track of your purchase amounts throughout the roleplay so the character can redeem raffle tickets. However, participating in the raffle or making purchases is not required.

Booth Rules
Any non-Negaverse character who runs a booth is subject to these rules!

- You may spend as much time as you please manning your booth, but you must make a post about manning your booth at least once during the duration of DestinyCon.

- Please list the merchandise and pricing in a spoiler at the bottom of your first tag in a quote to me. I will update the front page with your booth name and merchandise for easy tracking.

- For purposes of RP freedom, every booth has a partner character, whether that is a character played by another player or an NPC created on the spot. This is to ensure your character has the ability to visit other booths, go to the bathroom, or hit on the ladies. Use this to your advantage if it suits you!

Security Rules
Any Negaverse agent given the security position is also assigned an orange polo shirt with DestinyCon written across the front and SECURITY written across the back. They also have a name tag listing either their real name or a legitimate-sounding pseudonym. Everyone will be required to wear black slacks as well.

- As a security agent, you are not given any weapons or means to subdue any unruly citizens. Mainly your job is to wander around, interact with people, and stare angrily at anyone who looks like they might murder someone, shoplift, or otherwise hit on your significant other. Really, any reason to look intimidating is a good reason to look intimidating.

- You will be required by your superiors to make rounds about the convention and keep an eye out for senshi activity. If you suspect anyone to be a senshi or knight, you are instructed to pass into the staff-only area (which you have a keycard for) and inform your superiors. They will issue further instruction.

- If anyone faints, you are the go-to person for immediate first aid. You may not know anything about it, but you are instructed to put on a brave face and act like you know what you're doing. Anyone that collapses from exhaustion should immediately have their items taken to the raffle desk (which doubles as a customer service booth) and then escorted to Lt. Amethyst or one of the other on-site First Aid administrators. They will address the problem further.

- You also have a walkie-talkie to contact other security agents, the back room, or any of the on-site First Aid administrators.

- As a security agent, you cannot cosplay. Sorry! However, should you decide to turn in your security outfit on your lunch break and have a cosplay outfit in your locker, you are more than welcome to don that while you mingle with the crowd on your lunch hour!

Raffle Assistant Rules
Raffle Assistant characters are all crowded into the first booth at the front door, and each one is highly encouraged to cosplay as a means to draw the crowd.

- As a raffle attendant, you will be expected to interact with a lot of people! After the initial surge of people, you are free to leave the booth and seek out random cosplayers to advertise the raffle or sell tickets. You should also emphasize that showing a receipt will also qualify them for tickets!

- The conversion rate for purchase amount to tickets is $5.00 for one ticket. Otherwise, tickets are on sale at the rate of $2.50 apiece.

- At the end of the night, all raffle assistants will be called to the front stage, located behind the plethora of booths, to announce the raffle winners! Please keep your ears open for the announcement, as you will be expected to head to the staff-only area and change into your DestinyCon uniform to read off the winning list!

Negaverse Booth Rules
Negaverse booths have very similar rules to regular booths, but with a few tweaks.

- If you have a mix of enchanted and unenchanted merchandise, write the enchanted merchandise in purple for your quote to me. This way I can denote which items are meant to drain energy - and you will want to use that color coding if someone purchases an energy draining item from you!

- If you find yourself running low on product, flag down one of the patrolling security agents to relay that information to the back room. They will bring out a tote with extra merchandise.

On-site First Aid Rules
As a first aid tech for this occasion, you don't have a whole lot that's required of you until an emergency strikes, so be prepared to enjoy the con!

- You will be supplied with a first aid kit as well as a walkie-talkie. If any security agents spot a downed civilian, they will radio you so they can pass off the civilian to your superior first aid skills.

- You also cannot cosplay while you're working first aid! You must wear a green shirt with the DestinyCon logo on the front, and FIRST AID on the back.

- If you spot anyone with a potential medical concern, you are encouraged to confront them - even if it's just to flirt. The more welcome you can make people feel, and the safer they feel, the more likely it is that they'll stick around and purchase more enchanted merchandise.

Orange wasn't really Po's color. She didn't mind it, but if she any say in the matter, the shirts wouldn't have been orange. But alas, it hadn't been her decision, and she was a veritable expert at rolling with the punches. At least the shirt fit well, really well, and with the black slacks she had to admit she she didn't look half bad. Of course, being security, looking good wasn't really the point.

After a quick couple check to make sure she had everything she needed--Keycard, walkie-talkie, name tag with 'Poe Allen' embossed on it. --she shut her locker with a firm snap and made her way around towards the door that would lead into the bustling body of the convention itself.

She did pause though, gunmetal grey eyes landing upon a certain general, and altered her path slightly to so she was heading instead towards the small card table he was currently linger bay. "Never to suffer would never to have been blessed," she quoted at him, a sly smile cutting across brightly painted lips. He just looked so terrible enthralled with the whole thing, she couldn't resist needling at him, if only for a shadow of a chance to see him smile.

"You've been busy." She didn't mean the convention. The last she was aware they'd been on equal standing, power wise. At some point since their moonlit tussle he'd managed to impress the powers that be enough to honor him with a promotion. Given what he'd told her, of his plans, she wondered if congratulations were in order, or condolences.

All seriousness aside for another time, another talk. She flicked an avocado painted nail towards the cascade of dark feathers falling at his back. "I'm not usually one for capes, but that's pretty slick." Another attempt to pull some manner of humor from the general.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Stroud liked fan culture. She didn't generally indulge herself, but the energy and effort the subgroups expended in creatively celebrating their collective obsessions was undeniable. She liked the atmosphere of it- frenetic and desperate, often clawing for some 15 seconds of attention and recognition by peers that ended out with some fascinating efforts in art of many media.

Cosplay was one new to her, but having signed up for the event she wasn't going to slack in meeting the requirements. It had been the work of an evening to go to a DCU Anime Club meeting and chat up the otaku regarding likely subjects for herself. She'd come away with a couple interesting names of characters she could pull off- some Jeanne from a game called Bayonetta, some teen-magical transforming girls (Ha, imagine such rot), a few 'cross-plays' if she felt like chest binding. The list had stopped dead at Integra Wingates Hellsing. She was signing on for that one as soon as she heard the word 'cigar'. Perfect.

As a public event, she couldn't actually be smoking, but having the thing to bite on was a plus. Besides, she liked the scent of them when they weren't burning just fine. The name badge was an image breaker, but there was no use asking for everything. She affixed it firmly, looking boredly around at the other waiting officers while the doors were still closed. This couldn't get started soon enough.

Something to do.
Other than enjoy the localized eyecandy. Not bad, not bad at all. At least the other warm body representing the illustrious raffle is worth the 10 cent view. But their attention was then pressingly needed by the opening of the doors, the lines of con-goers and the selling of tickets.

"Support the Protestant Knights, pet? We're recruiting with tickets~" She didn't smile, it would be out of character, but she motioned at a passing patron with her cigar. " Well, not really. But if you're buying at the booths save your slips and come back. Five dollar's a ticket, so you might as well try your luck. "

A con was not normally a place Delilah would have placed herself as she really did not follow any of the anime/manga craze and even less of the popular movies out there. However, her interest had landed her on google where she realized that this could work in her favor.

In the days since she paid for her ticket and marked her calender, Delilah had been busily at work on her costume. She had decided to use this chance as an ability to try something new.

Now as she stood in line to pick up her badge, Delilah felt both a sense of pride in her work and shock that she was out in public dressed like this. Adorn in what would be called 'Steampunk' by those who knew it better than herself, took in a deep breath. Maybe she should have added all the bells and whistles. Maybe she shouldn't have been so simple. Maybe if people liked it she would try and start designing them for others. It was worth a shot.

Ian wasn't necessarily the most intimidating security guard, but in his polo shirt and slacks, he knew that he'd be able to do the job. And he would do it well. He did one last check, making sure that he had his walkie talkie, keycard, and name badge. He did.

He adjusted the badge, and then made his way out of the changing room. He had his cosplay costume stashed in there for later, for his lunch break, and he smiled briefly. This was going to be fun.

There was already a decent crowd inside, many in costume, and he smirked. Perfect. He started on his rounds, heading towards the booths. That would be a good place to start.

It was time to get this show on the road. Boaz mused to himself, going through the contents of the first aid kit so that he had a good idea of what exactly he had at his disposal should anything more than the expected fainting spells were to be directed his way. They had a pretty decent set-up right over here in anticipation of that at the very least, with enough able-bodied people to bring those who were already out cold back on a stretcher so that they could rest up till they had recovered enough to rejoin the crowd.

Those who were merely feeling lightheaded had the option of being escorted back to the on-site first aid area if they needed to lie down for a bit or taken to the side to sit with a drink and some light refreshments so as to help them regain their strength following the episode that was brought about by simple dehydration or a low blood sugar level. That was the arrangement that he and the other first aid techs had come to a consensus on as they went about the last bit of preparations before the con started proper.

Putting the first aid kit aside, he did a quick check on the walkie-talkie he was supplied with then reached for the phone that he carried in the pouch attached to his belt. It wasn't like him to mix business with pleasure but he figured that there probably wasn't any harm in asking Mel out if this happened to be her kind of thing. Besides, it would be another two hours or more till they started getting called in to handle their first cases. If something happened to catch her eye, he would really like to get it for her as a gift to commemorate their first date together. Preferably before he had to be called away to tend to his duties later in the day itself.

Richard Moreau found the whole concept to be peculiar, strange, but smack full of good potential. He had never gone to a convention before, though he had heard many stories in regards to these social gatherings. It was a bizarre experience, to say the least, and he thought that surrounding himself in a city where people donned costumes on a nightly basis would have prepared him for the chaos that was around him.

He thought wrong.

Not that he thought ill of those mascarading in costumes. He himself enjoyed getting into costume from time to time, depending on the party or event, but he opted out of it for the moment if only because he wasn't sure peopke were prepared for his Frankenfurter costume. He was here to sell t-shirts, not dazzle people with his beautiful legs. He looked down at his booth partner, looking over the t-shirts that he was putting out and unable to hold back a scoff as he chided him. "You know, it's rather conflicting to be selling merchandise for what you openly admit is bad movies... and since when was Godzilla considered a bad B-Movie?"

Normally he'd be flustered when someone else was opening mocking him, but nothing could get Scott Erlea down. He never had the chance to go to a convention before, given the limited funds and the scarcity of it in in Destiny City. Even though this was funded by the Negaverse and he would be forced to work, Scott was simply too estatic to care what Mr. Moreau thought of his passion and his wares.

However, for the sake of respecting a senior officer, he addressed him, hoping that by explaining himself and being obedient would be enough for him to put a good report in for him when all was said and done. "Well, sometimes people like bad and hammy when they watch a movie. Gives them something to laugh at and enjoy when things get rough for them."

Then he pointed to the Godzilla t-shirt, careful not to touch it just yet in fear that would trigger the charm, or make it undesirable for guests. "And though he's the best Kaiju ever, there's still a certain ham and charm to the movies, especially the old Toho films. He's sure to sell! If he doesn't, I'll eat my homemade King Ghidorah hat!"

Without further delay, Scott grabbed the hat from his booksack, placing it on his head snuggly, where his face poked through the middle head and the other two sort of flopped on the side. He looked to Richard with a longing for approval, and asked, "You like?"

Richard was seldom left speechless, yet this little one found a way. But he could not deny the notion to laugh, and he turned away, but not before pointing to his own lips. "You look fabulous. Got a little something on your lip there..."

Melinda Reese wasn't normally into these sort of things, but she actually heard about this convention and it sparked her attention. So when Boaz asked her to come meet him, she didn't turn him down. Glancing around, her green eyes went sightly wide do to the sights. This wasn't anything she was honestly expecting. Giving a small tug on the hem of her jean skirt, she glances around again.

How was she gonna be able to find Boaz in a place like this?

Pulling out the map given to her by Boaz, she looks it over for a moment before she finally finds where she was and where this booth was. Slipping it back into her clutch purse, she makes her way towards where she thought the booth would be. Pausing only for a moment, she tilts her head as she smiles at the figure before her.

"Boaz?" she didn't say anything else, just in case she might be wrong and it wasn't him. Though she was pretty sure it was, after all his hair was a dead giveaway.

Castille had been way too excited when she heard that DestinyCon was coming. She was a closet manga fan; many hours were spent propped up in her bed with a stack of manga books surrounding her. She found the fact that the magical girl genre was her favorite quite ironic now, but she still read them with love.

She didn't come in cosplay; it was enough of an out to her manga obsession to be here. She did however nod to vintage video games with her mushroom shirt. She felt like it was just nerdy enough to be accepted.

After much consideration, Castille had decided to leave her camera at home. While there were bound to be great picture opportunities everywhere, the thought of being in a crowded place with such a valuable piece of equipment made her stomach tie up in knots. That camera was her baby and she didn't want it to break. So instead she had a small point and shoot wrapped around her wrist, ready for action. Her purse was filled with money made from a part time gig at a yogurt shop, and she was ready to spend.

Caleb Desrosiers sighed, tugging at his jacket once more. He had no earthly idea who he was dressed as, save for the character's name. He wasn't much into anime (aside from Pokemon, something he would be snatching up the merchandise from as often as possible) but the costume seemed to fit well enough to his sense of style and he didn't have to wear a wig! Extra plus! The more comfort he could afford, the better. The boots were relatively flat and by and large, his costume was composed of cotton. What could be better?

All in all, Caleb thought this event should go swimmingly, provided everyone had the right amount of merch for their booths. That was his job for the day - wandering from booth to booth, checking supplies and greeting con-goers in his usual charismatic way. Several ladies stopped him for pictures and, when prompted, he could recite very basic information about his cosplay.

The first booth on his list was that of Scott and Richard's lovely booth of... Godzilla? At least he recognized that. The rest was rather hit-or-miss with the redhead. With a smile, he greeted the two of them. "Gentlemen! How go things so far? I've never seen quite so many costumes in one place... Ah, Scott, that's a... lovely hat. Do you two fellows need anything from the back?"

Lily was excited for this. It was the first ever convention she was ever going to and while anime was something she had to much knowledge about it was more about having fun and enjoying the day with her brother and possibly some friends. She decided she was going to dress up and she already had the perfect costume only to remember upon pulling it out that she turned it into a zombie costume last halloween, so she had to buy another one. It was no matter she had gone online and gotten a rush order on a Princess Tutu costume, which was pretty much the only anime she new, but ballet, it was such a beautiful and thought provoking show.

"Come on Xander," she said pulling her brother into the convention with a grin on her face while he just looked really embarrassed. One she had promised to up his training regiment if he didn't dress up and he hadn't been able to compromise with her and so he was currently feeling very exposed. "Seriously stop stalling you look amazing. A summer of swimming among other things lends to this costume."

Xander rolled his eyes and allowed himself to be lead into the convention, "at least I talked you out of making me run around in the swimming anime costume. Swim suits belong at the pool or the beach or some other water designated place. Do you even remember this characters name and did you have to straigten my hair?"

Lily frowned at her brother, "er ... Ara ... Abarai Renji, from Bleach if I remember correctly."

"Right right, Abarai Renji," he said before he was attacked by screaming girls asking for pictures and hugs and telling him to pose. He just looked utterly lost until Lily managed to drag him away.

"Wow I wasn't excepting that," she said laughing while Xander worked on fixing his outfit and praying the painted on tattoos came of as easily as Lily said they would. "Come on let's go find Jessie, I invited her too, remember?" She frowned at her brother, "no don't put it up, leave it alone, ugh your hair to, stop it Xander. You're so fussy, just have fun!

Anandi Rai was tickled pink.

Or, really, rather gold. In a bold attempt at Disney-goes-to-Bollywood, the little girl from India came dressed in a floor-length golden ballgown a la Belle from Beauty and the Beast. While it didn't quite match up with Gwen's costume in terms of points in the movie, Anandi didn't care. Perhaps maybe Gaston broke into the ballroom scene and stole the princess just for the convention?

Sure!

She wasn't even really sure what merchandise she wanted to buy, just that she adored any and all cute things, even if she didn't know the show the cute thing hailed from. None of that mattered now, for she hung happily on the arm of her beloved Gwenston.

"Where to first, dear~?"
