Akakios stared ahead in silence, watching the students going by on the path from under the tree he'd taken up hiding under. The world seemed a rather confusing, vast place to him. He didn't dislike it of course, but... he barely understood it.
He'd woken up to a voice, a door, and being told his enrollment papers for a school were accepted. So he was a student, he knew that much. They'd given him a dorm room and he'd managed to get a few things for it, but he didn't fully understand it all. He'd been told by that voice to protect people, to guard them. How exactly did that work when he was still learning things? He suspected his enrollment at the school had something to do with that, but...
He cocked his head to once side, fingers running through the grass he was sitting on as he looked down at it briefly, then back up at another pair heading for the classrooms. He'd found he couldn't make hind nor hair of the written things they sometimes gave to him, a few characters he could recognize as meaning a sound in his head, but so much seemed foreign. Nor did he speak the same as everyone else, it was really hard.
Was that because he'd only just woken up? He frowned, ears drooping a bit. That had to be it right? Sadly, he didn't have any real answers for all of his questions, so just ended up shaking his head as his tail flicked a few times back and forth.
It wasn't a bad place at least, everyone was smiling, friendly. They seemed nice. He just wasn't sure how to approach them, some seemed confused when he spoke with certain sounds not coming out as they'd formed in his head, and... well he didn't like that he'd been failing at meeting people. In truth, even if it was only a few days, he was a bit lonely. He really didn't like being all alone he'd found, it left some hollow feeling. But there was only one solution to the problem. Trying again.
So... well he would! Pep talk of sorts done, he slowly got up, dusting himself off as the chains hanging from his wrist and waist clattered a bit before looking between the various forms around. Seeking one who didn't look like they were in a HUGE rush at least. And then quickly darted forward, lifting a hand to wave at them. "Ah hahlloh!" Tanita had been striding away from her dorm room, trying to decide where to go... To get something to eat, or to see about getting some supplies. She really hadn't gotten all the far with much of anything yet. Things were so different from home, with her mother. She knew everyone there, and didn't need to worry about meeting people, or getting things organized for what to do when. Her mother handled that, usually. Now... well, 'Nita still was figuring out what classes she wanted and needed. She was so pleased to be here, with all of the other creeple, but... still. So she figured that a task like feeding herself or getting THINGS might not be too difficult. She made it down the stairs, and out the door without incident, and without banging into anyone. She really disliked the stairs, she felt they were cramped and enclosed, not designed with some one bearing wings in mind... but she also had a sneaking suspicion there were places in this school she wouldn't be able to fly up or down to, and so was making herself get used to the blasted things. She could do this, she was certain of it. Even if it currently made her twitch some. As she was heading down the path, still a bit undecided, she was startled by a sudden clattering of chains started for a moment. She tried to identify where the sound had come from, but before she could, a boil suddenly darted towards her and spoke. She blinked at him, confused by the unexpected approach for a very long moment, then she broke out into a smile. Some one approached her! Awesome, maybe she was about to make a new friend... or wait... maybe she'd done something wrong, what if she was... She held onto the smile, forcing herself not to go into worries. It was so odd, having all these feelings. It made her attempts to control her temper even harder... Well! She'd better respond before the fellow thought she was ignoring him. "Ahm... Hello... Can I help you, sssir?" She rarely, if ever, betrayed a bit of reptilian hiss but nerves WOULD betray her. Raja RL HAPPENS. Is cool! And eee he's so adorable!

Help her? Oh darn it! He'd been misunderstood, or well, he hadn't been clear to begin with. Not that he'd mind helping or maybe asking for help if he needed it, but that wasn't the point at all. She'd done nothing wrong and it was his fault for not being properly clear about his intentions. And... and oh this wasn't any good.
If Tanita had let out a hiss of sorts it went unnoticed as the internal concern she felt dawned in a rather visible manner on his own face as he waved his hands. "Ah... nah!" He quickly babbled, trying to pick out some simple way to explain it all while still shaking his head. She'd even gone so far as to call him sir, that had never happened befo-
Wait had it? He really wasn't sure. There'd been that moment he thought he remembered something, right as he opened the door, but it was to brief and unclear. He couldn't be certain. So he was left once more a with nothing to go on as the boil finally took a breath and gathered himself. Calm, calm this was not how you did things. How was it? He quickly extended a hand, deciding there was a single word usually summed up most of these sorts of conversations. It was a good place to start if anything, and well... she'd understand, right? Besides, she was a dragon. Something told him they weren't bad. Actually, it felt familiar even if he didn't know why... but dragons were good, right? And she was another student, so... so...
"Frendsah?" Yes, he'd put a hand out to shake, though his palm faced the ground much more like if a dog was trying to shake than an actual Halloweener should have done, and... well hopefully Tanita understood it was meant in good will. Really.

Tanita tilted her head, watching the play of emotions across his face. She wasn't sure what was going on in the boil's head, but he seemed to be very concerned about it! At least it seemed she hadn't done anything wrong, based on his response. She just didn't know what he wanted at the moment When he put his hand out, she blinked at it for a moment, and her brow furrowed as he spoke. Frendsah? What did that mean? Frendsah, Frendsah, had she ever heard... Wait. He did seem to be pronouncing things a LITTLE bit odd, so perhaps... "Friends? Is that what you're asking about?" She controlled the hiss this time, and put her hand out to shake his. "I... apologize if I misunderstood, but if you DO mean friends... Well. Yes please! I haven't met anyone else, really, yet. I'd love to be friends!" She stopped there, controlling the urge to cover her mouth. She had begun babbling, how utterly mortifying! But perhaps he wouldn't mind, he certainly seemed to be worried about things for himself. She wondered who he was. Oh right! Introductions are good! "My name is Tanita... what is yours?" She gave him another smile, this one not needing to hide her nerves, so it was rather brighter.
