It hadn't taken long for Sam to grow bored with Ayr once again. Especially when left alone. Sure, having a second cave was nice and all, but he didn't have a clan to share it with... Maybe he'd start looking for a mate more actively. Even his brother was already settling down, so maybe it was time for Sam to do the same. Sure, he loved the freedom to fly anywhere, anytime, and do as he pleased, but there was something about the idea of a pretty young Drakein for him to n** at that was just... appealing. Maybe they'd even explore together for a while before raising any little Keinlings of their own. That could be fun! Sam would love to have a partner in crime!

This was the pattern of his thoughts as he glided on back to his own home. Already, he'd almost forgotten about the young Vlidean that had taken up a perch there. And as he landed in the safety of his nest, he scarcely noticed how few of his clan mates dared to linger outside. Sam nestled in his lair, tired from the long flight, but not wanting to disrupt his sleep schedule by falling asleep too early. He lay on the edge of his rock, claws crossed easily over each other, and closed his eyes to really feel the sun shining against his scales... Ah, to be back in the comfort and peace of his own home...

And then there was screeching.

Sam cracked open in eye in pure and utter annoyance. That blasted beast! Sam growled and watched it flit about. Apparently, in the past few days since the Drakein had contained it, the Vlidean had taken to jeering and taunting his clan mates. It set Sam into a boil, especially since it lingered near poor Crowell's lair. The Dactyl always held its ground in between the Keindred and the menace, but even the tamed creature didn't want to tangle with the flashy bird. It was when the thing sauntered into the cave and pecked at the poor creature that Sam dove for it viciously. He launched himself out of his cave and tackled the little beast. It shrieked in alarm and backed off, quickly fluttering back out the entrance. Sam followed, roaring, growling and hissing at the young creature until it backed far enough away. It's responding shrieks were agony against Sam's ears, but he pressed on, eager to chase the Vlidean away for good this time.

The little beast was quick. And it was eager to stay within the Gaili nesting grounds, fluttering back and forth just out of Samael's reach. Frustration boiled deep inside of him, and he was starting to wonder if this beast's life was worth sparing... As it tauntingly flashed his wings at him and zipped by while clawing at his side, Sam decided that, no, it wasn't.

With a roar, he called on his earthy power to meet him in the sky, summoning a mid-sized boulder that crashed into the Vlidean from below. Once it was stunned Sam grabbed it by the neck and shook it until he heard bones snap. Releasing it with a growl of approval, it dropped to the crevices below. The boulder Sam summoned followed it down, crashing down to earth and flattening the flashy creature with the sickening sound of mush.

Sam was just happy the boulder hid much of the mess from view.
