What Of Your Past: Jay was
a boy of strange origins. He was one of three children, the middle child. He had an older sister and a baby brother, no older than ten months. His mother was a kind but distant woman. Since they lived in poverty she worked for hours on end to support their family. Despite her efforts what she did was scarcely enough to keep them under a roof. They were soon forced to leave and live in the streets. Without a home or family members to turn to, Jay and his eldest sister turned to thievery to get them what they needed. Jay was only 5 and his sister was 7. They lived in this pattern for a year; their mother would go to work and they would leave to the streets to steal.
Jay and his siblings inherited the abilities of shadow manipulation from their anonymous father, whom they knew nothing about since their mother refused to say anything about the man. Jay and his sister discovered their abilities shortly after they began stealing. It was exhilarating, and they quickly adopted their shadow abilities to their stealing methods. They'd use their shadows to sneak fruits out of stands, wallets out of people's pockets, and clothes from clotheslines. Their mother never objected since they needed it desperately. It was a survival which honesty had no place.
As they grew Jay and his sister realized they could take their abilities a step further to earn even more money. That was when they learned about the wonders of bounty hunting. Jay and his sister started off with small fry, capturing petty thieves, which was very ironic. Then as they gained experience, expanded to catching more difficult prey. The money was great, better than ever. They were finally able to afford a home(still terrible but it was something) and food. Life was great, the best it had ever been for their family. Until their mother fell ill.
Their mother suffered from a terrible illness, coughing blood and vomiting anything she ate. They realized they needed a doctor, but they didn't have enough money for one. So they made the biggest mistake of their life to make the money. They made a deal with a drug dealer, to deliver some of his cargo to another dealer at the end of the kingdom. It seemed simple enough, but the temptation of money was too great. Instead they sold the cargo themselves, and used the money to hire a doctor. The doctor helped their mother greatly, was able to fix her back to her health. But consequentially they were being hunted by the man they stole from. It took a week for him to find their trashy home. He raided it one fateful night with his group of armed men. They killed his mother first, torturing he before ending her. Then was his olde sister. And finally, the baby. Jay was forced to watch it all. Defenseless to do anything about it since they tied him up and forced him to watch the massacre. They beat him after they were finished and left him in the house among the corpses as a reminder that they should never be defied.
In that night, a despicable rage was born within Jay. His heart turned to stone, and he vowed to someday end them. Losing his family was a terrible shock for a child to handle. Only six years old, Jay didn't have the money for the funeral. So he left the home as soon as he unbound himself and set out to search. In a few years Jay became an accomplished bounty hunter. Having hunted dozens of criminals by the time he was 15. It was at the age of 16 that he found the men that killed his family. He brutally ended them, inflicting all the pain they put on his family. He had exacted his revenge. By then he earned himself a notorious reputation, identifiable by his shadows. Jay continued to bounty hunt without a purpose for years now, and lives simply because he has to.
What Are You Able To Do: Jay is a shadow master and mild darkness manipulator. He can manipulate shadows at will, cause them to rise, bend, twist, stab, and grab. His abilities ha limitations however. He cannot manipulate another person's shadows, only his own. And he can only expand his shadows to a 60 foot radius. He can manipulate the shadows of any object within that radius. He is strongest in the night and weakest in the day. Light is his weakness.
Jay has a good physique. He is fast and agile. His attacks depend mainly on speed, therefore he lacks strength in some of his attacks. He is adept at parkour and fist-to-fist combat.
Shadow Blade: Jay concentrate his shadows into a blade than runs down the length of his right arm. It can cut like any normal blade, is swift.
Shadow Barrage: Jay's fist is enveloped in a swirl of shadows to pack for a powerful punch
Disappear: Jay sinks into his shadows for a quick escape. Lasts max 15 seconds, after that he needs to rise to use it again.
Enhancement: Jay enhances his shadows with darkness, making them pith black and stronger.
Drive: Usualy a result of enhancement. His eyes glow silver and his tattoos glow black, usin his darkness and shadows to strengthen him physically.
Vortex: Jay traps his target in a vortex of shadows, aiming to tear them
Screen: His shadows dissipate into the air as a heavy mist to stun the Target while he strikes under the dark cover
Shadow Shield: He creates a dome of thick shadows around himself to protect himself from attacks. Max lasts 20 seconds, a poor defense against light magic
Special attack#1: Jay concentrates his shadows to create shadow wings. Requires a lot of energy.
