He had tried to swim, tried to save himself, maybe he would have even saved others too, but Dysmas was unable to fight the current. The water angel had been shocked into awakening enough to realize he was in the water, but that had been it. The next thing he knew he was coughing up sand, his throat burned from it, the stuff was caked all over him. For a moment Dysmas thought of his mother and understood why she hated the stuff, but in that moment he had believed he was at home. Dysmas lifted his head, realizing he was lying face first in the sand. That was odd, how had he gotten here? He rubbed his face against his shoulder, trying to find some clean skin to wipe the sand from his eyes so that he didn't make the situation worse. Finally he opened his eyes. The sun blinded him for a moment, making everything around him white, but as the world came into its proper setting Dysmas found himself staring at an unfamiliar beach. That threw him for a spin and he was forced to try to remember where he had been before. As he looked around and saw the bracelet, the bottle of wine, and finally his eyes rested on the circlet, triggering everything that had happened the day before, at least the things he had been aware of. He crawled clumsily in the sand towards the circlet, making sure it was alright, he had to keep this safe. There was someone he wanted to show it too. Was he... Dysmas looked out into the ocean and could see nothing in sight. He was lost, he was certain, and there seemed to be nobody around. Wait a second. A second glance down the beach and he saw another body lying in the sand. Dysmas flew up and ran towards the other, all identity-caused shyness cast aside in the moment, "Are you alright?" Dysmas asked as he tried to shake the other. [they haz food]

Sweetie drops had blacked out so much of the storm. She didn't want to remember it. She'd banged her head so much throughout the entire ordeal that she couldn't bring herself to remember what had caused it. The faunie groaned a bit, finally coming to. Her head hurt, there was sand everywhere. Her hair was coated with it, and she could taste salt on her tongue. Was she stranded out here in the middle of the ocean?
The faunie tried to crack open an eye, wincing as it refused to open. Why? It felt mostly like it was crusted shut? She reached up to rub the offending crust when she heard another voice. So she wasn't alone? Sweetie grunted her response to his question. There was sand in her mouth. Landing so roughly on the beach, it wasn't agreeing with her in the least.
"Wha happn?" She slurred, trying to at the least open her eyes. Now there was at least a little less crust and sand in her eyes. She just hoped it wouldn't have seriously damaged her eyesight.

"Uhm..." Dysmas' mouth moved from side to side in thought. He wasn't sure how to answer her question, he wasn't sure what the answer was himself. "I don't know..." he finally answered. There just wasn't anything else to tell her, no softer way to put it. "Are you..." Dysmas paused unsure of how to ask, "Were you on the boat?" the angel asked her with a gulp. Dysmas stood up, deciding to glance down the shoreline to see if he could see any others. From what he was starting to remember, he had overheard a fight that he probably wasn't supposed to hear, and after that he couldn't hide in his room anymore because no one was bringing him any food. That was the last thing he really remembered. Did he ever go to sleep? Well he must have because he woke up somewhere else.

She nodded slowly, still trying to pry her eyes open. "Where are we?" The fauny hacked, finally coughing up that lungful of sand she was nursing. Oh Celestia she was not happy about that. Her throat was raw and now it hurt to breath. She could only wonder where else she'd gotten sand.
"Boat... We were on the boat together?" Great, that meant the whole thing had sank didn't it? The faunie winced, finally getting her eyes open. Oh my, at least he was cute. That really didn't matter though. She was more concerned with figuring out how to get off this island.
"I didn't see you on board?" was all she could think to ask

"As far as I can tell... we're on an island." It almost sounded like a joke, but he was serious. That was all Dysmas knew, he wasn't even sure if it was the same island they had stopped at or another one altogether. "Are you okay, do you need something?" Dysmas asked the female, giving her a look of concern, the cough had not sounded good at all. "Uhm, yeah the boat. The uh... relaxing cruise, or something like that..." Dysmas tilted his head to the side. There really was no way that they would be on this island if something hadn't happened to the boat. Were all those pae drowned now? A sad look crossed Dysmas face... he could have saved them... maybe. Dysmas hadn't even saved himself as far as he knew, he was just lucky. "No? Oh I was around." he was the reason they all had left the island so early. Dysmas looked down at the wound he had gotten from his exploration, bright red, but dry. Dysmas became suddenly conscious and pulled his wings in tightly.

An island?! She groaned to herself, they were stranded in the middle of the ocean on an island. Sweetie barely knew how to find things on her own much less survive an ISLAND!
The faunie tried to contain her inner turmoil at this discovery, looking to the being before her. Was he a Pegasus? No no, she had never seen him before, so that meant he was something normal out here. She smiled weakly to the male helping her out.
"Do we have water?" She asked, voice dry and raspy. She was doing her best to look to the bright side. There wasn't much of one right now. "I think... We can..." Her head was so jumbled. Sweetie couldn't think straight. He was on the boat then? At least she wasn't rescued by some merpony or something. The thought made her choke out a laugh. A merpony saving her would be silly. Everyone knew they didn't exist. Did they? But she had met another pae with funny wings, who knew what else was out here.
"Why did you do that?" She asked, trying her best not to rasp when she spoke. He'd moved something. Sweetie Drops couldn't really tell what it was, but he'd moved something for certain.

It almost seemed like a silly question to Dysmas, 'do we have water'. Yes, they had a lot of water they were surrounded by it on all sides, likely. Dysmas couldn't see the other side of the island. After a moment, understanding dawned upon him. Of course... they couldn't drink the sea water. "Right... I... you do sound like you need water..." Dysmas did not immediately see any water that would be drinkable, "Perhaps I should head into there and see if I can find anything useful?" Dysmas said looking at the jungle behind them. He felt pretty helpless looking at her and looking at that jungle. Maybe he would find others in the jungle... other pae hopefully, he thought with a large gulp. Who knew what he might find in this place, basically foreign to the boy who hadn't wandered far from his lakebed. The male looked back at the female, tilting his head, "Do what?" As he looked at her, he realized they hadn't been well introduced. "My name is Dysmas, by the way," he supposed if they might be the only two on this island they should probably know each others' name.

Sweetie Drops grimaced, trying not to think about how dry and sandy her mouth was. She could see water all around them, but was it safe to drink? At the very least was it safe to wash her mouth out with?
"I think I can... Wash my mouth with the ocean?" She suggested, trying to get up. Okay, that didn't work well. She'd fallen straight on her bum again. With a dry laugh, she attempted a smile.
"You moved something on your back." Sweetie added to the question. She wasn't going to press if he didn't want to talk about it, but whatever he had done was certainly with a bit of curiosity.
"I'd say it's nice to meet you, but..." She looked around. "Actually, it's great to meet you Dysmas. I'm Sweetie Drops." They were the only two pae she could see. It was amazing to have someone else there. "Can't imagine what I'd do if we weren't on the same beach right now." The faunie tried to smile, trying to make light of the rather grave situation.

Dysmas raised an eyebrow at her, was she making a joke or had she never tasted ocean water. He had gotten enough mouthfuls of the salty water than he ever cared to. Despite how much he loved being in the water, he could live without it coming in his mouth. "That might not be such a good idea... I don't think you would like it very much." Or maybe she did, but that would certainly be odd. Dysmas jumped towards the female as a reaction to catch her, of course he wasn't fast enough. He gave her a hesitant smile when she laughed. He was just being overly on the edge now, it wasn't as if sand was the worst surface to fall on. Though perhaps he should be concerned that she fell... The water angel had hoped the female didn't notice his wings at all, unfortunately they stuck out quite a bit more on land than they did under water. "Oh, those are just my wings," he tried to say as nonchalantly as possible, but that wasn't something that was possible for him to do. The male grinned uneasily, as much as he stuck to himself most of the time, he was kind of relieved to have someone else here with him, especially being so far away from home. How far away from home was he? Dysmas looked off into the distance, but saw nothing but water. "It's nice to meet you Sweetie... Drops." The male looked into the jungle again, "would you be alright if I went in?"

She certainly never had tasted the ocean before. That was why she'd thought it would be alright to rinse her mouth out with it. She wasn't intending to drink it of course! Well, maybe she was. Girl was thirsty. Sweetie shrugged it off, blushing a bit when he told her it was a bad idea. At least someone knew better.
"Ack!" She squeaked, her rear royally sore after falling like that. It didn't feel like it was the first time she'd landed on her rump. "So you are a Pegasus." She nodded. He must be, having wings and all that. Sweetie didn't put much thought past that. He looked different, but so did most of the pae around here.
"I don't think it's a good idea to go alone..." She offered, looking up to him. "If I can get off my butt I'd like to go with you? Just in case we get lost or something." In truth, she was just afraid to be alone right now. They were shipwrecked on some random isle in the middle of the ocean. Sweetie didn't like the thought of being alone, and if he left her, that's what she'd be. The jungle behind them seemed like the best idea right now anyways. Far better than being alone.

Dysmas winced as he heard her cry of pain, he felt bad that Sweetie Drops was struggling so much, and he wished he could do more to help. He offered her his hand to try and help her up this time. A pegasus? Dysmas had no idea what that was, but it hadn't been a question, it was a statement that she had said with complete conviction. It had sounded perfectly normal when she said it as well. "Yeah," he agreed, he liked how it sounded so normal coming from her mouth. Although to be honest, he wasn't quite sure what she was either, no wings, no fins, no antlers... Though, he was so self-conscious about his own 'what-am-i', that he would never ask her. The male nodded his head, he didn't think it was a good idea to go in there alone either, but it seemed like it was what had to be done. Dysmas thought she might be safe on the beach, perhaps there was a chance that she might get rescued even... if help was coming. Dysmas wondered if anyone in the world even knew where they were. His mother and father would certainly notice he was missing, but would they know where to look? Dysmas' eyes softened as he thought of what his mother would be going through when she figured out he hadn't made it home. He was just going to have to make it home then.

Sweetie was still blushing for falling in front of him. It was never a fun moment when one fell. Even more so in front of another pae. "Thank you" She gratefully accepted his help. This time, she managed to keep upright and not even wobble! A very nice improvement, she thought.
"You look a little confused." Her head tilted to the side. Maybe he wasn't really a pegasus. She didn't really mind though, he looked like he should be one. "Didn't you come over with the rest of the faunies?" she asked, curious.
Another glance at the jungle. They really should go look for anything in there. Shelter, food, maybe a drinkable water. She didn't want to be left alone, but someone had to scout for boats right? "I don't think anyone will be coming for us... At least not yet." She frowned, looking from the jungle to the ocean. "I'm afraid of being alone." The female blushed, trying not to look at him while she admitted that. They'd just gotten stranded on an isle together, it made sense right?

Dysmas' poker face was non-existent, so he hadn't been doing so well at hiding anything from the stranger. As he helped pull her up he came clean, "I'm not sure exactly what a pegasus is, but you sounded so sure, I thought it was just another name for what I am." He tried to recover as he shook his head in answer to her next question. "No... faun...ies?" Dysmas narrowed his eyes thoughtfully, this time not trying to hide his confusion. He could understand her fear all to easily, he was feeling surprisingly less fearful himself. Perhaps it was the fact that he felt he needed to be strong for the sake of the other who was with him, it put a good kind of pressure on him. "Alright, I won't leave you then. I promise." He added for good measure, they were stuck with each other for who knew how long, so it would probably be a good idea to trust each other, even if they didn't know each other at all really. "C'mon," he said softly as he started walking towards the jungle, he stayed close to her side, just in case she needed more help. They'd look for water first and foremost, but if they found anything else... that was good... all the better. He just hoped they didn't find anything else.

He had no idea what a... Really? Then he wasn't anything she'd ever seen before at all. That was... That was really cool! It wasn't like she got to see new things a lot while she was in the tree. Sure, everything was new and different, but all the pae who lived there sorta looked the same. Different, but they almost always had antlers or hooves. Sweetie was grinning big time at the thought.
"Thank you." Her smile widened. He wasn't going to leave her on the beach. She wasn't going to be stranded and all alone on this island. It was getting better by the minute. Okay, not really. It was just her outlook getting better. The female still couldn't shake the good feeling about this. They would survive this so long as they could stick together.
"Do you know how to make a campfire?" She asked, keeping pace with him. Her balance was a little wobbly, but overall, she was doing just fine now that she wasn't flat on her bum.

Dysmas smiled as the female smiled, it was a beautiful smile, and somehow comforting. The boy shook his head quickly, he needed to focus, it seemed like a lot was falling on him right now to be the strong one. "Not a problem," he said as he walked. Looking into the jungle, he was now grateful that he wasn't going in there alone. "Yes, I can make a campfire." He answered her, or at least provided he had the right things. In the primitive hut they lived in by the lake, his family had to use a fire for warmth, and cooking if they ever had anything that needed to be cooked. Though that was less often. However, they still had the technology of flint back home, and that was something he did not have here. Realizing that, he sighed. All of a sudden, Dysmas went flying through the air as he tripped over something hard in the sand. On all fours in the sand, he muttered something incomprehensible as the pain seered through his stubbed toe. The pain was just a burst though, and it wasn't long before he got up as if nothing had happened.
