Whelp.
Acubens had gotten lost.
She’d lived in Destiny City for about three years now, and sometimes she forgot what a stringent route she traveled along. Really she went to school, to work, to a couple stores, on her jog, and on her patrol which usually ran along the same lines as her commutes. That was it. Beyond that lay a whole city undiscovered and unfamiliar. It was in times like these that it came howling into stark relief just how little she knew her own city.
Something to the left of Acubens fell, making her yelp and jump away. She paused on her tentative trek to peer into the thick darkness, trying to find out what had startled her. As the shadows in the alley twisted and danced, forming newer and more terrifying monsters with every passing second, Acubens was no longer sure she wanted to know what had made the sound in the first place. But it wasn’t until something else behind her fell over that she fled, fearing whatever (most likely imagined) monster followed close behind.
This was bad. Like way bad. She was getting tired and developing a head ache and still no closer to finding her way home. Or at least a way out of this place. Acubens was made for the suburbs, and this was so very far from that, it was laughable.

Where Acubens' had found the broken down and decaying neighborhoods of the city frightening and full of things that go bump-in-the-night, Navi found them familiar, safe, a little explored haven where two soldiers on opposite sides could meet with impunity. In the years they had been meeting, only once had their affair been discovered, and the Dark Mirror Senshi was still waiting to learn of the out come, but as no one had yet descended upon her with accusations of treason of foolishness she had to assume Grus hadn't decided to share what she'd learned some nights ago. Which was a relief. Though she was still waiting for Chaonis to return to her, which was why she was spending the majority of her patrol time within the dying acres of the city. The Senshi of Chaos was no where to be found, but Navi had happened upon an order signature moving swiftly down below. Quietly she followed that bright trail with the rooftops as her highway, until she was nearly on top of the other girl and an agile leap onto the skeletal cross beams of a half finished building at the end of the street. "Why are you running, little senshi? What's spooked you so?" The words were teasing, but her tone was soft and inviting and terribly friendly.

A voice. A friendly voice. Acubens’ shoulders fell from their position by her ears at the sound of it. It was a welcome reprieve after her previous string of frights, and so took Acubens’ guard down about thirty notches. She lifted her hand to her chest in a hopelessly feminine show of relief and sighed, turning to face the figure that had materialized at the mouth of the alley. It was nice to see something that didn’t mean to do Acubens’ bodily harm, and nicer still when she recognized the gauzy overlay of her fuku. Acubens’ smile broadened as she stepped out of her own bank of dusty, brushing off the grime that caked her fuku. “Oh honey,” Acubens chirped, closing the majority of the distance between the Dark Mirror Senshi and herself. “That’s my secret. I’m always spooked.” She winked lightly and laughed at her own joke, fancying herself very clever. Never mind she’d just been running from a shadow. “But, in all seriousness, I am really lost.” Her smile faltered in her embarrassment, though she did try and hide it in her mass of red curls. “It seems like the city tries to find new and exciting ways to surprise me, you know? And it never runs out of ideas.” She was going to go into detail as to why, exactly, she was here. Something about chasing a stray energy signal that lost her… in retrospect it probably felt her coming in the first place and strung her along, which only deepened the blush on her cheeks. “But oh! Gosh! Where are my manners?” Acubens thrust out her hand, smile splitting her face in two. “I’m Acubens, of Velociraptors. And who am I calling my valiant knight tonight?”

The joke was answered with an indulgent smile. It was cute, the need to diffuse fear heightened stress. Navi understood. "Always spooked, however do you survive?" It was a light question, but the words were anything but. The DMC was truly curious. A life plagued by fear sounded tiresome. Afraid and lost, it was quite the predicament. "Never a dull moment," she agreed simply to the question on the many surprises the city lay home to. It had the girl smiling, voice catching in a brief hum of amusement. It was certainly true. Destiny City seemed a hot bed for strangeness, and they, the warriors of the night, were merely along for the ride. "Acubens, of Raptors. That is unique." The offered hand was taken, slim fingers squeezing as she offered a shake. "I'm Dark Mirror Navi, of Tumbleweeds." It wasn't exactly a sphere to strike fear in the hearts of her enemies, but she had long ago embraced it. The silent wanderer, swayed by the wind and sharp as thorns. She chuckled at having been referred to as a valiant knight, amused by how trusting the white moon senshi was. If she'd been a different person, more nefarious, it might have ended up poorly for the other girl. But Navi was not nefarious. Acubens was safe. "I can help you find your way." In more ways then one. How many other members of her court had this senshi encountered. How many dark clad mirror walkers had earned such instant trust. Acubans was a wayward soul, wandering aimless. The Dark Mirror Court could show her the way.

Acubens hadn't even known she'd been holding that breath in until she finally let it out. Getting home seemed like a fabulous idea. More than fabulous even. Hella fab. And the affirmation of the senshi's alignment only soothed her nerves further. "I've never met a dark mirror that I haven't gotten along with," she sighed happily, releasing Navi's hand. "And I hope I can call you a friend too!" She wasn't sure what the Court's policy was on name dropping, or even if her three friends were very high up on the food chain. Leto she suspected was fairly well known given that she was a the one Acubens had been introduced to forever ago about recruiting. "If I can just get back to a main street, I'll be able to find my way back home just fine." Friendly though all Dark Mirrors seemed to be, Acubens wasn't sure how comfortable she was showing any of them her home. After all, her family was still her number one priority. Maybe some day she'd show a few gauzy heroes home... "You much be the..." Acubens counted on her fingers, changing her train of thought to something decidedly lighter, "fourth Dark Mirror I've met? Not a very impressive number, but form what I understand it's a fairly healthy percentage of your court."
