Zecora awoke with a start, pushing herself up off the ground as quickly as possible. What had happened? She had been so busy gathering all the new plants she was learning about, and the next thing she knew... no that had not happened, it was impossible. Yet, she recalled experiencing the oddest of sensations, as if she had been over the forest instead of under it. Again, impossible.
Zecora brushed herself off as she steadied herself to her feet, she wasn't taking in her surroundings yet, lost in her own thoughts. None of it explained how she ended up asleep? She didn't recall going back to camp. Finally, Zecora looked around herself, hands flying up with wide eyes as she bounced from one leg to another. What was going on here?! She began to fan herself, overtaken by the heat brought on by her panic, made worse by the humidity. The fauny female saw her two bags nearby and felt a relief over at least that much, but where had everyone else gone? Surely they wouldn't have left her behind? Her mind filled with some fear, perhaps she had fallen behind, just as the fairies had warned.
Lying on the dirt a short distance from where she awoke, she saw another pae still passed out, face down in the dirt, covered with two large leaves, that must have fallen on top of the poor pae. "Hey, hey. You!" Zecora walked over to the pae, and began to lift the leaves off the pae. It turned out to be a more difficult task, the leaves weren't coming off. They were attached! Zecora inspected the pae further, the familiar stripes. "Dat you Enki?" She questioned the pae as she poked his arm solidly with an index finger.
[They have water, and do not need to search for it]

One minute he was picking stuff up, the next he was out cold, and then the next moment someone was pulling on his wings! "YOUCH!" The Earth Angel jumped to his feet, covered in dirt and dizzy. What had happened? What was going on? Was he still dreaming and those insane fairies were ripping off his wings because they thought it was undergrowth? The male put his hand to his head as he tried to steady himself...Someone was talking...He knew that voice. "Zecora?" Ok, now he WAS dreaming. What was she doing here? With him.
Enki lost his balance as he fell back down on his butt, groaning as he did. His sight was still blurry as he tried to look around. "Where are we? What happened?"
[They have shelter and do not need to look for it.]

"Oh, dat is you Enki!" She exclaimed as Enki jumped up in shock. Now that she could see all of him, she knew it was him. Zecora winced, realizing those were his wings she had pulled on. "Oh dear, you have all me apologies."
Zecora's eyes widened, and she quickly held out her hands to help the fallen pae, "I do not know. What I remember... it was de strangest of tings." Zecora said as her eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "Were you on-de nature hike?" She asked. The zebra hadn't recalled seeing him, but she had been quite busy gathering things, and lets face it, there were quite a few pae in the group going through the jungle.

Enki's sight finally settled back to normal as he slowly got back to his feet. Nature hike? "Yes. I was on the nature hike...Since I was still in the area and you know..Learning about the island and such...Seemed like a good idea." He rubbed his back by his wings. He knew she didn't mean it but...It still hurt none the less. He looked back and just seemed to become worried. "Are you ok Zecora? You look flushed..." The humidity hit him like a tone of bricks. This was a jungle after all. And it was...Getting dark? Oh no, that wasn't good. He didn't want to worry her but...Well this was bad. Really bad. "The sun is going down, we can't sit around. We have to start figuring out what to do.."

Zecora was trying to make sense of everything, they had both been on the nature hike, with the others, and now it was just the two of them. Zecora looked around the clearing again, the spot didn't have any particular sense of familiarity. Zecora snapped back to the present with Enki's question, she had certainly worked up a sticky sweat at the least. "Hm. Yes, I am ok. I am just unsure of what to do. Should we try t'find te otters?" Zecora started walking around the clearing, eyes on the ground, trying to check for hoofprints or any sign that might have told them how they had gotten here or where from. Of course, Zecora did not find any because they hadn't walked here. She did however discover the flint and tinder as she perused the jungle floor. "Perhaps someput-e [somebody] forgot dis?" Zecora said as she picked it up and added it to her bag for later. "It might be useful for later." They had things to start a fire, things to cook food in, but they needed food and at the rate they were sweating they really needed water as well. Perhaps some shelter would be necessarily at the rate the sun was setting.

Enki shook his head. As much as he wanted to find everyone else, it was too dangerous. "With the sun setting and no clue of what's out there...It's probably safer to stay here until morning." He was really wishing he had grabbed some bananas from the walk but now was not the time. He looked around for things he could use and spotted a dense wine growth near the edge of the clearing. "These." He said as he moved towards them. " I can make a hammock out of these..." He looked up to the leaves on the trees and then to the ferns on the ground. "And I can already spot several large leaves I can use to make a sorta roof, if it rains you know?" He looked back to Zecora and let his ears fall, he felt bad. "If I knew everything about here we could go look...But night is not a safe time. I couldn't put you in any sorta unneeded danger. You're my friend after all Zecora." He could never live with himself if she got hurt on his watch. Friends looked out for each other after all.

Zecora nodded her head solemnly, "I 'ope t'others are alright." She said, perhaps it had just been the two of them that had somehow gotten separated from the rest. If so they were probably a good team to have to brave the jungle alone... it did seem fortunate that Enki was separated with her as well. She felt that even more so when he started talking about shelter. "Dat is a good idea, Enki. I am most thankful dat it is you here wit' me." Zecora shared her thoughts. Glancing around their clearing, the zebra faun decided that she should look for other things they would need to make it through the night. Listening to what Enki had said, "You are most kind Enki." Zecora smiled, pleased to have made a friend. Zecora was quiet for a moment, letting Enki work. When the world had finally gone still, she could hear the faint sound of a stream. Zecora's ears twitched as she tried to follow the sound and quickly came across the tiny stream. She spent some time observing the water and examining it closely to make sure it was clean and drinkable. There was no noticeable odor or color to it so she deemed it safe. "I have found water." She shouted to Enki as she begin searching for food.

As the sun sets, the sounds of the jungle become alive. Different wildlife becomes active, to hunt for their meals. In the ferns surrounding the clearing, there are eyes watching, studying the pair of zebra-colored Pae'il.
Is the shelter strong enough? High enough? To protect them from the predators of the night?
((You can choose which jungle predator is there, how they handle it, and if their shelter provides enough protection.))

Enki had found himself a branch to sit on, working on the vine shelter mid way up the tree. His ears flicked up as he head Zecora call out. Water. Well he wasn't too worried about water really. This was a jungle, the air was full of it. So the last thing they needed was...
He looked up and looked around the area. It was getting hard to see as the sun got lower in the sky, the shadows seemed to take over everything. He frowned. He didn't know what was out there, nor did he really want to find out...But all he saw was trees and plants, most of them he didn't know. Sure they could have fruit on them but what if they were poisonous? It didn't look like there was much in their little area as it was. He wasn't too sure they would find anything, at least tonight. The Earth Angel shook his head and got back to his work. At least they'd have shelter, water, and with that flint and tinder Zecora had, they'd have a fire. It wasn't much but it was something after all.
Enki always had the policy of sleeping off the ground, tonight would be no different. It may not be....Heck it wasn't even that strong, but strong enough to keep them off the ground. Once he had selected an appropriate height he tied the hammock between two trees. He had them at least two bodies off the ground. He normally slept up higher but he wasn't too sure how high Zecora could climb.As long as she is safe it doesn't matter. He mumbled to himself before hoping back down to the ground and looking for rocks to make a fire pit in. The muggy air was going to prove it difficult to find suitable fire wood as well. This was going to be a long night.

Zecora had been busy searching for food while Enki was building the shelter, so she did not pay any attention to what he was doing. The faun moved in a very specific way so that she would be able to find her way back to Enki without getting lost. The sun was now too low for Zecora to be able to properly identify any of the plants around her, so she carefully traced back her steps, it wasn't hard to get back, she couldn't go much deeper into the jungle due to how thick the vegetation was. She was oddly starting to miss the weed-whacker fairies at this point. When Zecora returned to the clearing she spotted Enki, but no shelter. What had the boy been doing this whole time? Her eyes widened when she saw what he had been working on after a few short minutes of staring around the clearing in bewilderment. "Oh my Enki," Zecora winced, she didn't want to tear him down, but how did he honestly expect her to get up there? Zecora stared down at her hooves which were not made for climbing trees. Ironic considering she always lived in a tree, but those homes were built into the tree differently. "I do not s'pose you have a way fer me to get up ter?" she asked him hesitantly.

Enki's wood seaching was stopped when he heard Zecora speak. She couldn't get up there? He blinked slightly. He thought his dad told him that all Faun could climb trees...Then again Zecora was different from the normal faun. He couldn't help but laugh slightly before smiling to her. "I'll carry you up there if I have to, don't worry about it." Clearly he was going to have to teach her to climb if they were going to be moving in a jungle like this.
He placed the wood he had found in his makeshift fire pit, looking at it with a frown. He might as well try to light it. He hoped the small twigs he found would be good enough for kindling. He moved to where their bags had landed, picking up his own and reaching inside of it. He stopped and blinked, pulling out the sapodilla he had picked on the hike just before this all happened. He had only picked a couple of them but..."Hey Zecora." He said waving the fruit in the air. "It's not a feast but it will do for now. I only really picked them for the seeds anyways." It wasn't much but it was some sorta food for the night.

Zecora gave the male a hesitant smile, she wasn't quite sure how he was going to get her up there. However, if he said he would, she trusted him. Zecora handed him the flint and kindling she had found earlier, "Might be that dis will help you?" she offered him as she sat down beside the fire and rummaged through her bag pulling out the copper pot she had discovered. She still had nothing to put in it, the plants she had grabbed earlier were not for eating. Zecora raised her eyebrows at the male, "Oh? Well mayhaps it will last til we find more food. Dis is a jungle, dere should be plenty to eat..." Zecora was a little disheartened that she had no luck finding any before it got dark, but perhaps they would have better luck next time. "I'll be sure t'save de seeds for you." Zecora said with a curt nod. As she sat with legs folded, she looked around. The jungle had become more frightening with the setting of the sun, difficult to see, with no light from the moon breaking through the canopy.

"We just need to look." Enki replied as he set the kindling in the fire pit and started to use flint to light the fire. The male leaned back as the fire started up and relaxed a little bit. Least he could see what was going around in their little area. "It's ok Zecora, seeds are nothing compared to making sure my friend is safe. I'm not too worried about it." He looked up to the sky to see the moon, trying to think about what had happened to them. He just...Couldn't remember. "Just tell me when you are tired Zecora. I'll help you get to the vines." The male got up and stretched. "Here, give me your bag. Gonna put them up in the trees for the night. Don't want to loose though." He chuckled lightly.

Zecora understood that Enki meant well, but she still set the seeds aside for him anyways as she ate. It would be a shame to let them go to waste when they held so much potential. Zecora handed her bag over to Enki and watched as he climbed into the tree. After he climbed into the tree, Zecora stared into the fire, enjoying the warmth and the relaxation she felt as she watched the flames dance. As she stared into the flames, and through the flames, she saw something glimmer in the bushes on the otherside. Glimmering... like eyes did when the light caught them. "Enki..." Zecora whispered, her voice suddenly fearful upon her discovery that they might not be alone.

Enki's ears perked up as Zecora's voice became fearful. This was bad. "Just relax." He slowly walked over to Zecora, looking over to where her eyes were locked, spotting the glimmering. "Clearly it's time to go to bed...Move slowly and wrap your arms around my neck...Like a piggyback ride." he needed to stay calm, any real sudden moves and well...He didn't want to think of it.
