It had been a long time waiting for himself to gather up enough courage to even think of approaching Dr H's office. But Jason knew he had to if he wanted to become better at his medical skills. Using a runic bandage could only get him so far, and considering he had been studying even before coming to Deus ex, he was hard pressed to continue in this profession.

However, it still required him to find out what he had to do exactly, and that involved asking someone who knew what to do. Which left him standing outside of the Life division leads office, holding his fist up and prepared to knock on the door.

He stood there for a few moments before quickly walking away, thinking that tomorrow..might be a better time to go ask. Yeah, another time.

Jason then spent the next few days repeating this, until he came up with most brilliant idea ever of asking someone other then Dr.H, and then went to Stephens office instead.

"E-excuse me, i-is there a-anyone in?" He knocked on the door gently as he cursed his awkward stutter.

The door swung open, and Stephen, resident Doctor Sexy MD, leaned against the door way with a charming, flirty smile. "Hello," he drawled, "...you don't look particularly wounded, so what can I do for you this fine and lovely day?"

The reception he received was...confusing, but it was not intimidating, so Jason felt more confident in dealing with Stephen. Though his smile made him feel...uncomfortable.

<Oh my>

"A-ah, hello, s-sir" He said, trying his best not to look nervous. "My names Jason Kenneth. Moon intermediate Trainee."

"I-I'm here to ask if you c-could point me in the right direction, about learning first aid, perhaps even branch off into more advanced fields such as surgical practices." He managed to keep his voice even, with only a hint of a stutter at the beginning. "I know I'm only a intermediate, but any advice you could offer me would be invaluable"

"Business, then." Stephen's expression gentled and he nodded, stepping back from the door to let Jason in, and taking the seat at the desk. "Well I do always like to see a few good Moonies in the infirmary. Ya'll are a bit more practical than the Life bunch, and Edy tries to encourage good heads in her division, rather than big ones." He scratched at his chin for a moment, eyes bright and lively, "Do you have an idea of where'd you like to go with this? Most Moons intend to be field medics, but if you're thinking surgery may be in your future, that's a mite bit different."

Jason briefly glanced around the interior of the office, before settling on Stephen himself. His demeanor now seemed more business-like which was a welcome change, and he hadn't thrown him out upon hearing his request which was even better.

"O-of course." He replied. Being arrogant wouldn't do him any good, nor did he want to appear as such and then screw up. This was a field where mistakes would not be tolerated, he knew that much.

It didn't take long for him to answer the next question. "I feel surgery may be a more suitable roll for me. It holds a different sort of weight compared to what a field medic is expected to do." It was something he felt more prepared to take on. He had been conditioning himself to try and take on said role for years. And while he doubted he was any closer to being able to take on such a role, he was a lot closer then, say, taking on a zombie dragon without fainting. In the middle of combat.

Leaning back, Stephen loosened the cuffs of his shirt, eyeing Jason with a smile and eyebrows raised. "That it does. What kind of medical experience do you have? Need to know where to start ya out." He rolled up his sleeves and turned to the filing cabinets, plucking out forms here and there.

"N-not much I'm afraid." he confessed. "I've done the usual high school experiments. I've dissected a lab rat, a cows heart, and a sheep's kidney. Besides that I did a few months study at college, but that was only theory based..." Jason could feel his palms sweeting underneath his gloves as he watched Stephen pulling out various items. Where they lecture notes? Or maybe even contracts?

"Soooo...we're starting at the bottom of the bottom, just about?" Stephen gave him a sympathetic smile. "Out in the real world, it can take well over a decade to become a surgeon. Fortunately for you, our patients tend to have a much more forgiving healing factor than the average human being, so we're a bit less stringent. Still, it's gonna take a few years to get ya up to a decent enough level to be considered a surgeon."

He slid a stack of papers over to the trainee, "Just fill those out and we'll get ya on that road, sure enough. But let me tell ya right now, this isn't gonna be a very glamorous start. Mostly mopping, cleaning, inventory, and bedpans to look forward to for the first few months. Then we'll start with sit-ins and the like before moving to hands-on work. And all the while, you'll need to be studying your little heart out. Think you can handle it?"

Jason couldn't help but focus on the table instead of Stephen and his smile. "Y-yes sir..." He was right of course, but it still did not deter him from his objective, and he looked up soon after. "O-of course, I wouldn't expect anything less. I understood even before I was a hunter just what a surgeon would entail. Colleague, medical school, placements...it's a very long and difficult road." Though he couldn't help but be intrigued. He wasn't aware that being a hunter made you heal faster.

Taking the papers he glanced at them briefly, listening still to what he needed to do first and nodding to himself. The studying part was to be expected of course, but the mopping, cleaning...he hadn't thought of that.

"Yeah, I can handle it." He replied. It would be shitty work (literally), but to him it was far better then zombies. Anything was better then zombies he thought to himself as he pulled out a pen and began signing on the spot as he read them over.

"Good to know, we always need capable bodies in here," the speculation was back in his expression. "I'll have Sunny pencil you into covering the infirmary for most of your duty rotations starting tomorrow."

"T-thankyou, I'll strive to live up to your expectations, and to prove I can be capable."

Meeting Stephens gaze, Jason gulped, hoping that he hadn't just done the stupidest thing ever and end up screwing everything up for everyone else.
