Ripley was at a cross roads, except not really. He was standing in the middle of an intersecting hallway, looking from rght to left, ahead and behind him, trying to figure out where he was going. Where he came from he knew, but to get anywhere else...? This place was a mess as much as it was flawed on principle.
The new trainee frowned, brows furrowed in concentration, and a gloved hand raised to muss with his own hair as if it would jog his memory.
"I wonder if it would be easier if I brought a sharpie next time..." He muttered under his breath, now seriously pondering the idea of writing little notes to himself on the walls. Wandering eyes spotted someone else, and he turned to look at them, giving them a hopeful, but not too hopeful, stare.
"Hey, do you know this place at all?"

Finn had no idea where he was going. Really, after having been living on the island for nearly two months now, it should not have been at all possible for the moon hunter to get himself so turned around and downright lost within it's facilities halls. Sure, the lights were all out, making it a bit dark to see by in the evenings, but in the daytime it was not so bad. Muggy though. Ugh, the heat was impossible to escape! Stopping to shrug out of his jacket, he deftly tied it's arms in a knot around his waist, revealing a simple blue t-shirt beneath. Then, taking a deep, calming breath to quell his irritation, he began studying his surroundings a little more carefully in an attempt to regain his bearings. Everything looked the same. This was not helping. He wandered on ward, crossing an intersection of halls and going straight on through, determining that if he just kept going straight eventually he would find a doorway that led outside, when a voice halted him in his tracks. Turning, he eyed the other man with open appraisal, before he gave his head a shake while letting out a long and frustrated sigh. "No. No apparently I do not. Why? You lost or something?" Great. Maybe they could be lost together. Wouldn't that just be fantastic.

"Or something, yes." Ripley answered as pleasantly as he could, schooling a smile onto his lips. He really, really hated not knowing where he was going, or what was going on. Then again, who did like to be left in the dark? Nobody, he assumed. Not that he had ever taken a poll on the subject, anyway.
"I'm trying to find the library." The frustrated sigh had him thinking that maybe, just maybe this man was just as lost as he was. "Where are you trying to go? Maybe we can help each other out." He knew where a few places were, anyway. Hopefully this could be a quid-pro-quo thing.

"Or something would imply that you aren't lost, but something else." He pointed out. "But whatever the case is, me too. I can't seem to find my way around this ******** place." He listened to the other man's plight, his simple need to locate the library, and shook his head. "Normally, if I knew where I was, I could probably help you out." As for where he had been going himself, well that was the real pain in the a** and the cherry on top of the proverbial s**t cream. "I was actually just trying to map this place out a bit better in my head. Thought I could do a bit exploring and then you know, not get myself lost anymore." Guess that completely backfired on him. "But hey, you happen to know a way to get out of here? Like an exit to get outside?" There was some hope in his eyes at the thought.

Ripley's head tilted as he gave the comment some serious thought.
"I suppose you're right...but while I am lost, it's not lost so much as don't know where to go from here, so I think I can still feel okay with my answer." He nodded, more to himself than to his new companion. "Regardless, this place makes about as much sense as a teaparty under water." It was a serious lament to him, and his shoulders even slumped the slightest bit. "I don't think I've ever had this much trouble finding my way around a place." And some areas he had been to were doozies in terms of layout.
"Oh, yes, I think so. See, I've been making this little map..." He trailed off, fishing the old piece of paper from one of his many pockets, holding it out for the other man to see. It was less a map and more akin to a bunch of lines that happened to intersect in areas; if it was a map, it was an extremely basic one. "It's not complete, but it helps. I might be able to get us outside with it. Maybe that'll help?" He offered, using his free hand to push his glasses back up his nose.
"Ah, I almost forgot. I'm Ripley, by the way. Ripley Crowell, Death Division." He held out his hand for a polite shake.

Finn couldn't help but agree with everything Ripley had to say about the layout of Deus, and nodded his head to show this as the other man went on and on, and even barked a laugh at the teaparty under water comment. "Well I feel like I don't have much of an excuse since I've been living here for two months now." Two months of trying to come to terms with the fact that he had signed up for this, that he would willingly jump aboard the supernatural slaying train. He remembered doing it, now, though it had been hazy for the first few days. He remembered his reasons for saying yes. But for a while, for the first few weeks, all he had the energy to do was hate his decision, and wonder how long it would take before they figured out he was completely unwilling to learn or cooperate, that he was slacking, and that he was spending more time in his room then out training or bettering himself. Trynt had goaded him, had told him that it was unacceptable that his partner would be so useless, so jacking lazy. And then he had finally smartened up. And then The Tear had happened, and it had opened his eyes in many ways. He still, occasionally, felt like he had made a terrible decision, but he was trying, and a willingness to try was at least better then nothing at all. At the mention of a map, Finn's interest was piqued, and he waited until the other man fished it out before leaning forward to have a look. It was just...lines. No labels. No landmarks to go by that he could see. But...well, if the other man knew where they were on that map, then he would just have to trust that he could get them outside. "Finn Conner, Moon." He replied, eyes flicking over towards Ripley from the map. "How about this; How about a little bit of exploration time? We can get your map filled in, and the both of us will hopefully be better off for it. And of course, we'll find your library in the process."

"Two months, huh? Is the layout that bad?" Or perhaps Finn's sense of direction was terrible? Ripley didn't want to assume and thus kept that thought to himself; more flies with honey anyway.
"It's nice to meet you, Finn." He said pleasantly, taking his hand back and drifting his gaze elsewhere in thought. "Moon...that's Front-line Defensive, right? I think Abbi is in moon. Do you know her? Short girl, orange hair, purple eyes?" Underaged Teenager, he added mentally.
< Exciteable. Unassuming. Eyes like dinner plates~ > Wilhelm added helpfully, in his special sarcastic and lazy drawl.
Yes, thank you. Yet he didn't say either of those things out loud, which made the weapon sigh in disapproval. So much for helping~
"But yes - Exploration sounds like a good idea! Did we want to start from here or...do we want to go outside and come back in? Sort of like...getting lost on purpose?" He wasn't so sure that was a good idea, but hey...whatever helped them figure it all out.

Finn's sense of direction was terrible. Absolutely terrible. Ripley should have just asked him because he probably would have freely admitted it. If he didn't have a GPS, he was completely and utterly lost. He was lucky he knew his way to the common rooms or the communal bathrooms in the dorm area and that was just one long hallway with a room at either end. At the mention of what Moon's did, and whether or not he knew Abbi, he smiled in his oh so common manner, a baring of teeth that left his eyes dead cold. "Ah yes, I know that one. Met her on her first day out of the pod, actually, and helped her find her way around a bit after that...to the places I actually knew how to get to. She's an absolute little darling, that one." He couldn't help but for have his voice warm up just talking about her. There was no romantic feelings from the man for his fellow moon hunter, but more of an almost brotherly instinct. "And ya, I guess. Get too watch everyone else's asses and use our bodies as meatshields, as I've so eloquently heard it put." And on more then one occasion, in fact. "Uh, I don't know man just pick one or the other. I don't care really as long as we figure out our way around this ******** place." He let out a small sigh. "Okay, outside first, get our bearings a bit, then had back into the labyrinth."

Oh, so Finn knew Abbi? That was nice! Then again it would probably be difficult to not know everyone on the island after a while.
"She really is a sweetheart. I don't know where she gets her energy, though..." He murmured, scruffing a gloved hand through his pale hair. That girl was so animated it was incredible...and almost exhausting. "Well then, I'll do my best to not need you to defend my a**, then. One less person to use you as a meatshield, at least?" Maybe that would help? Either way he offered a lopsided grin to his new friend.
"Okay so...outside first." He murmured, mostly to himself, and looked down to stare holes into his little paper of lines. The map unfolded for what it was in his head, and he looked around him at their four hallway options presented to them.
"This way." He pointed the way he had come, sounding quite sure of himself, and turned on his heel to head down the hallway. As he walked he looked at the walls on either side of them, looking for landmarks that could probably help him. Making a fool of himself wasn't something he really wanted to do, but at least now he had the benefit of being tailed by someone who shared about the same sense in direction.
"You've probably been asked this about a hundred times, but...what made you enlist?"
