Night swept across the city like a cloak, and this one was exceptionally thick and heavy. Captain Buddingtonite didn't really hate the warm weather but he could not wait for the chill of Autumn to take the streets of Destiny City. Not only did the world just look better in a hue or orange, yellow and red, but it would make the heavy coat he wore when he powered up worth wearing and make his energy gathering and recruiting missions all the more tolerable. But his duties as a Negaverse captain didn't care for such insignificant things such as personal comfort or luxury, and so he trudged onward, in a quest for an easy victim.

Well, besides his mother, anyway. She had already offered him so much energy but he didn't want to risk killing the woman. No matter how cruel her jabs were, how much times she broke his poor father's heart and continued to tap dance on his heartstrings like a tourrettes-ridden harpsichord, or how much she constantly reminded him that he was the inferior child, that was still his mother.

Now, if someone else wished to drain her until she was nothing more than a deflated skin sack or pluck her starseed from her body, then Buddingtonite wouldn't stop them. After all, that'd be the best way to gain her inheritance, so long as he wasn't the one getting his hands dirty.

So tonight, he was merely looking for another victim, or perhaps a future companion. Or would, if this heat would just leave him be! He gave a groan, as he snuck into a rather quaint looking garden and hoped that maybe, just maybe, the sprinklers would be on to offer him some kind of refuge. "Hurry it along, Autumn... Summer's overstayed his welcome!"

Eden stood in the center of the garden, lost deep in her own thoughts... She had awoken the first time in this very garden. Her fingers flexed and gripped the golden handle of her latnern even tighter, a slight tremble running through her as her mind wondered through the memories of that night.

She had almost died that night, had come so very close to it that for weeks she had been unable to even come back to this place, avoiding it as if it held a gate to hell, instead of a place filled with many hours of lovingly tending the soil and plants that lived here. This is were the past few months of hell had started...

She hadnt bothered to turn on the flood lights that were worked throughout the garden, she had come here to collect her thoughts. It seemed the best place to do it. So she stood there, contemplating so hard she didn't even hear the agent's words or sense his aura. The candle housed in its little golden cage flickered, the beads attached to it clicking delicately, disrupted by her shudder.

It felt to her that every time she took up the lantern and turned herself from Evalia, to Eden, horrible things happened. People tried to kill her. Other people were murdered. She was so horribly useless that she honestly wondered if her even attempting caused more damage then good. She was so very much NOT a fighter that it wasn't hard to think so. She was willowly, with a wealth of impossibly long white hair that shimmered with rainbow colors in the light. She had no definitive muscle build on her, and fit overly well into the willowy vegetarian stereotype.

Apparently no one had informed whoever was in charge of this stuff that she wasn't suited for the super-hero life. It put a frown to her face, her brows creasing with the though, letting an arm, clad in a long draping sleeve reach out and brush the leaves of the nearest plant, in full lustor thanks to the chokeing summer weather.

To his rotten luck, not only were the sprinklers and mists turned off (likely to conserve water or keep the bills low, both of which he understood as a business owner himself), but it appeared that a faint Order aura was picking up on his radar, and he couldn't help but give an annoyed grunt. Was there anyplace he could go to avoid running into them? To be fair, his suspected that he was improaching upon what they'd consider their territory, and he was in uniform, so whoever it was had every right to be aggressive with him. And while he knew he should have bucked it up and took to the fight with some amount of pride and dignity, he simply didn't feel like fighting tonight.

But he also knew that he couldn't simply walk away. With the new orders from the top brass expecting more results, either it be in potential recruits, energy, or starseeds, Buddingtonite knew that he couldn't just turn the other cheek. Besides, maybe it was someone that could be lured over, and heaven knew how much cushioning Buddingtonite needed right now should things fall apart. Besides, maybe it was someone he could take home and snuggle with? Or maybe just an easy target?

Either way, he couldn't just walk away and not expect some kind of earful from his senior officers, so Buddingtonite took a moment to straighten up and make himself presentable before stepping deeper into the community garden, preparing to work his charm in hopes of coming out of this little meet-and-greet without any bruises or his starseed missing from his chest. He was told that they were getting exceptionally cunning these days, but he'd believe that when he saw it.

"Good evening, whoever you might be!" Buddingtonite called out, making his way around the garden and just barely spotting the beauty with the long, flowing hair, and he was certain that there was nothing to hide how his smile deepened just as the mere sight of her. Oh yes, this was certianly someone he wanted to bring home with him, so he slowly approached her, suspecting that she had felt his aura and had to have known he was there. "Pardon me, madam, but you wouldn't happen to have a moment to talk, would you?"

Just a friendly meet-and-greet. That's all he wanted.

Poor buddy... shes still a little traumatized.

Unfortunately for poor Buddy... She had recently had her starseed fondled by Natron. And he had been JUST as cheerfull and conversational, right up unto the point were he had plunged his hand into her chest. Sure, that wasn't the kind of fondling Buddy was interested in, but SHE didn't know that...

Eden let out a quiet little gasp. and clutched her lantern to her chest, turning to face the voice in a whirl of hair. Her eyes were wide, chartreuse colored orbs reflecting the hectic light of her candle. She had been deep in thought, and in all honesty, hadn't even felt his presence.

This was the first time she had come back to this place, powered, sense she had awakened all the way back in spring... It had taken her that long, that long to recover Leto nearly killing her, and the murder that had prompted her own awakening... and then her meeting with Natron... More murder, another close call with death. And now, there was ANOTHER agent of chaos here. Now what she was aware, she could feel the aura that surrounded him, the same that had been around Natron.

It was probably very obvious to buddy that she had gone from deep in revere to scared and wide eyed. After her run-in with Natron such a short time ago, one really couldn't blame her. She didn't even respond to him, just eyeballed him like a rabbit would a coyote before she was sure if it was going to pass by or eat her.

Buddingtonite was no mind reader and perhaps that was for the best. He had only seen the movie What a Woman Wants once in his lifetime, but it was enough for him to know that it was never, ever a good thing, despite how easily he could manipulate the gift to suit his own selfish needs. But he didn't need to be telepathic to know that he had startled the poor thing, and his immediate response to that was to take a small step backwards while taking off his cap and placing it on his chest. His expression may have been exaggerated, but his apology was sincere. "My apologies, dear. I didn't mean to startle you, not at all."

He kept what he felt was a safe distance, the way she brought her item to her chest making it hard for him to judge the range on it, but he was certain that if he kept his voice soft and sultry that she'd understand his intentions and there'd be no confrontation. Not at all aware of her recent run in with Natron, he poured on the sugar, hoping to attract the little skiddish hummingbird closer to his blossoming, seemingly harmless petals.

"Allow me to introduce myself! I am Captain Buddingtonite of the Infiltration branch, and I couldn't help but admire your stunning beauty, so I wanted to come and have a friendly little chat with you. I assure you, I'm a fairly harmless gentleman, so you have nothing to fear from me."
