When Milo had been informed he would be gaining a weapon, he didn't imagine himself going down a flight of stairs to go retrieve it. Perhaps another room just as the one he had woken up into, creepy with its mad scientist flair. Or perhaps even something a little more traditional like a treasure trove of arsenal, or racks even. Nope, not exactly like this. It was something completely different and despite his eagerness, the brunette couldn't help but place his palm on the wall to help guide him down into the darkness. Was that other room where all the power went?
It kind of did remind him of when Nito Kosuke came upon the Chimera rings in the dark cave though, but the character had been spelunking and was doing an archaeology expedition. (Not stairs, and not for this purpose). A bad example, but probably the freshest in his mind (It also made him momentarily stop on a stone step and hang his head; he was probably so behind on Kamen Rider Wizard and Kyoryuger. Weep). Maybe thinking about Boukenger would be better, they'd gone on missions into caves to retrieve Precious (and he'd seen the end of that one).
Those places were at least a little better lit, regardless that they were made for television purposes. Natural lighting or perhaps a few scattered torches would have been nice on the short descent down - oh wait, there was one! At the bottom, on the opposite wall, all by its lonesome in a small little cover. "I had something for this," he mused to himself as he took a step into the room proper, for the moment unable to dredge up a reference from his beloved series.
It was small, it was still dark and it didn't take too long to have a look over before he found himself in front of the large wall of small tablets, the only other thing illuminated in the place (if one would really call it that, glowing perhaps a little better word). They were stone just like the rest of the place, though different in feeling. Like they hummed and weren't simply dead rock. Milo held out his hand to lightly trace one of the glowing runes of one, a pair of pistols. Which was next to a larger model of gun, surrounded by a few more weaponry symbols; swords, bows, knives, blunt objects and others he wasn't sure what they could do. They were different in touch as well, as if... alive. So, this was where he was supposed to go for his weapon, to become a true hunter, a champion of justice. But which one...
< Finally! >
The voice faded in like an echo trying to be heard, invading the back of his mind before it ebbed. Milo blinked suspiciously for a moment before spinning himself around, with a little bit of a flourish, his hands up and ready to grab who was there. There wasn't anyone. "Right," he drawled before pursing his lips and stuffing those hands into his pants pockets. Green eyes scanned the room again before he spun himself on his heels back around to the wall of little squares. A hand left his pockets to tap at his chin in thought, looking at each of the little symbols before him. A gun would be cool, it was kind of a sentai staple. Swords were pretty cool too...
< Don't you DARE ignore me! I've been waiting too jackin' long for this! >
Milo paused again, his eyes widening as the voice became a little more solid than just the whisper from before. Clearer in the back of his mind. Booming, loud and angry. And female.
"Kind of hard not to ignore you when I don't even see you," he told the voice as he side stepped to another section of the wall. Was that a katana?
< Its because you're not lookin' in the right place, baka yaro. >
Oh hey, "that was Japanese," he grinned. But still, that didn't really answer his remark. Milo held himself upright, looking around him once more but this time for an irate looking female. Still, he was alone in the small room. It wasn't like there was a place to hide.
< Here. >
It was a stern sounding, almost a command and pushed him to finally look to his right. It was then he noticed one particular tablet, like it had more of a glow and more of a hum and more of the voice. The one he was supposed to choose. Milo took a determined step forward, a twinkle of excitement in his bright green eyes as he looked upon the symbol and then reached for it. It seemed to spark at his touch, resonating that he had chosen wisely and so he pulled. It came off with relative ease and was light in his grasp (and was it his imagination or did he feel a breeze?)
"So, you're a-" but that fell on his lips as the flat surface of the tablet shifted and changed, elongated in his hands in a familiar shape. Milo stared down at the pole arm, as light as it had been in the other shape and spun it briefly to feel the full weight of it. "a naginata." Ryu Ranger's Dai Rod transformed into one of these (there was also some Japanese history, blahblahblah). "So, you're the naginata?" Simplest explanation and all that, even he could come to logical conclusions. So that was now two things Szczeosny hadn't mentioned, cove and talking weapon. (Couldn't say he was mad though, it was kind of awesome. Like in Abaranger and Go-Onger).
< I don't ..... yes. >
She had sounded a little unsure about something before she had just flatly responded. "So, what do I call you?" Pushing the subject forward, "Or do I get to name you?"
< No. > Again flat, edging into irritation again. < My name is Koume Shizuka, you do not get to call me anything else. >
"Oh, that's rather pretty," the brunette smiled as he spun her around once more. Oh, she had a charm at the end, it was hard to make out what it was exactly though. Still dark and all. "Name's Milo Hale." And for good measure, "Aloha."
