This is a new idea I'd like to have various times during our main RPs. The idea for these 'campfire' topics is for people to post quick, short posts that are primarily dialogue between your character and other people's characters. This will give you a chance to have your character interact with other people more and strengthen bonds.

This topic will not be open for very long, closing on Saturday at the latest.

Around the Campfire #1

The group continued on their route with relative ease. They did not encounter any other bandits, though the last remarks of the bandit boss still hovered over their shoulders, uncertain of what it could mean.

It was around sundown that they arrived at the rendezvous point, where they were to unite with Songhua's troops, but there was no sight of them. Lance, leader of Cloak, who had been sent ahead, appeared and informed that there had been no sign of any of them, meaning they had not yet been there. Somehow, despite their delay, the Learanians had arrived before their Adlian allies.

With the light of day gone, they had no choice but to stop for the night anyway, so the group went ahead and set up camp, hoping that their allies would arrive in the morning. The soldiers, sentrians and guild members sat around campfires, eating, telling stories, and singing, while the vice captain sat off to the side by a fire of his own. They all knew war was soon to come and they had to enjoy their moments of peace while they had them.

It was a strange mixture of fatigue and pride that kept Amon calm. Though his wounds had been magically healed, the healed areas were still rather tender and his body was still very sore from the battle. He didn't want to move or leave his company. It was the first time he had seen their new allies in action, and seeing those same, diverse faces around the campsite in the warm firelight was almost surreal. He now knew how a good number of them expressed themselves through movement in battle, but was only just beginning to put faces to names.

Amon looked across the fire to the people before him. What would he allow himself to say...

Velkan sat near Amir. He'd stuck to the back of the fighting, defending the healers with a few of those Sentrian mercanaries... well more accurately standing around scared shitless wishing he were somewhere else. Did all battles have so much blood? When the boss had stumbled past his group, he'd jumped backwards to frightened to even transform, the mercenary standing beside Velkan had ended up driving a sword right through the enemy leader. Velkan sighed quietly to himself at the memory, wishing he could have been as brave as that guy.

Velkan had stuck Amir's side ever since, some Cloak member he was, hiding behind a member of a different mercenary group...

The cat let one hand rise to the harmonica dangling about his neck and fingered it nervously as the silence around the campfire began to border on plain awkward.

"Amon, how're you feeling? All healed up?"

Ramla approached her companion, sliding her hands down her backside to keep her robes close to her as she sat down next to him. The Sentrian mage was mentally fatigued, having exerted a lot of magical power manipulating those rocks and assisting her allies with her abilities. She would have liked to get some sleep, but this was probably going to be one of the few times she could get to know the Learanians. After all, if her lord was going to ascend and take back his throne, they would be indebted to these people who helped them. She wanted to know what these people were like, but she was too exhausted to get up and go to them.

They were supposed to be interesting Sentrians, right? Someone come on and talk to them already~

Otherwise she was going to fall asleep on Amon's shoulder, whether he liked it or not!

Roy didn't contribute much to the events at the bandit fort. While the others were gung-ho to see who could get bragging rights by killing the bandit leader, he focused on the small fry. That was why it didn't look like he did much. Because no one cares about the little guy. They found someone Cloak, the mercenary organization currently traveling with them, was looking for. Aside from that, there were also some prisoners that they had found. One of which happened to be a friend of Rath's from Elibe, meaning it might have been someone his father knew as well.

The young lord poked at the fire with a stick to keep the flames healthy. It seemed like everyone was keeping to themselves. Were they tired from today's battle and march or something?

Well. Hadn't this day been quite the unanticipated adventure?

FD has missed the second half of it all, guarding Leena, but the bandit drama in general was an unfortunate start to the journey to Sentria. Nonetheless, it all seemed to be resolved for now.

The current environment also provided the Fire Dragon an opportunity to converse with the Sentrians in their company; a quick review of the preparation thread for this event would remind any readers that the reason FD had decided to come with this group was because it was bound for the desert. Read FD's post there for further context (it's on the first page and very much a TL;DR post).

Everyone's favorite dragon approached Ramla and Amon, seated next to each other and formally introduced himself to the pair. "Our sentrian companions; I'm called FD, the Fire Dragon of this ensemble." FD reached out his hand to them to extend his camaraderie to the pair. After the introductions the Fire Dragon took a seat adjacent the pair.

"I was hoping to learn of the deserts of Sentria from you, if possible," he explained. Indeed, since learning of the paradise Arcadia hidden in Nabata, deserts captivated the Fire Dragon in a way.

For a good while, Amon sat in silence, allowing his companion to lean on him as they both recuperated. Out of the corner of his eye, he shot a glance at Velkan. He didn't know if it was out of shyness or not, but the catman had been tailing Amir since the beginning of the attack on the bandit fortress. No matter the reasons, he would keep an eye on him, without restraining any interaction. This was a communal event, and everyone was allowed to speak. Amon knew his place.

He would have time to think on that later. Their Fire Dragon companion had joined their side of the campfire. After a tangible second of hesitation, Amon returned the kind gesture and shook FD's hand.

"I am Amon, and this is my companion, Ramla." He bowed his head slightly at his own introduction, and gestured towards Ramla in turn."I have many questions for you as well, FD, but it is only proper that we answer yours first, I suppose."

"The desert is harsh." He answered bluntly. "It is too large to know in its entirety, especially during these times. There are remains left behind of those who once lived there, abandoned settlements, dry oases, more still remains hidden in the sand." He only knew of what the Sentrian settlements past had been like through stories, many from his own family. The occasional patrol and trek into the desert revealed their fair shares of lifeless ruin to give them substance. If you have any specific questions, we will answer them to the best of our ability."

Wil had no idea where they were. He hadn't been this far from the abandoned cabin that he'd found shortly after appearing in the woods two years ago before. He'd explained to Rath that, that was why he had little to no information about the world he'd appeared in, not a lot of news reached the lone woodsman.

He'd traveled with the healers for the first few kilometers until he'd recovered from his time in captivity and they'd seen fit to release him, Rath had been too busy to see him much after that apart from small queries about his health and a general explanation of what was going on but now that they'd reached their destination the Sniper figured his friend would have some free time and so excused himself from Ora's company when it didn't seem rude to, as much for her sake as his own, it was clear a few of the soldiers didn't trust the latest female addition to the group and Wil had thought it'd be good for her to talk to them on her own.

It didn't take long for Wil to find Rath, all he had to do was look for the fire removed from everyone elses and yet still in earshot of the main one.

"Hey, pal... this seat taken?" he asked with a smile, pointing at the empty bit of soil beside the nomad.

The journey was exhausting, never in her life had she gone so far away from the bandit's hideout and she could see why. Like always, she staid close to Wil's side ever since they got to the campsite, but now, where did he run off to?

Ora paced around the area, searching around; learning. Where there areas she wasn't suppose to be in? Or people she had to avoid? Did they hurt those who didn't follow the rules? It all seemed a bit all to peaceful, except for those who were sparing. She clutched tightly to her bow and brought it close to her chest. It was just odd. Even odder that some of the soldiers looked at her with distrust. She wasn't the one that started the lie about her not being part of that group of bandits, why did she had to carry the burden?

Upon finishing her exploration, she noticed a bonfire with a few of of the other members. The archer was always a bit nervous meeting new people, but they didn't seem like a threat. So, easily almost not wanting to be noticed she joined the group around the fire. "E...Excuse me. May I join you?"

Regulus

Regulus had apparently gotten distracted after he entered the fort because he had not fought the leader. Maybe he had fought off some other bandits while the other dealt with the boss. Alternatively, he could have found a shiny thing on the ground. Anyways it's not important.

Regulus sat down heavily on the ground and sighed loudly. "Gods am I tired."

Hm?

Roy glanced up from poking the flames to find a nervous female archer speaking to no one in particular around the campfire. He didn't recognize her (then again, it wasn't like he knew everyone. He just happened to know a lot of people), so it was possible that she was the one of the prisoners they found. He gave her a warm smile before patting the spot next to him on the ground. "Sure, come on over." the young lord said cheerfully.

"I'm Roy." he introduced himself. "I'd be nervous too if this was my first time meeting a lot of people all of a sudden. Everything will come naturally, so just take it easy."

Ahhhh.

Oujay let out a small sigh of relief as he stood next to Roy near the fire. The warm flames felt really good during the night after a long day. He raised his head from the fire and noticed at the other side a familiar face.

He looks towards Roy for a moment to see he's addressing a new face and offering her a place to sit down. He then turns his head back and starts making his way to the other side of the fire. Soon, Oujay approaches Victoria and opens his mouth asking,

"May I take a seat?"

Rath glanced over at Wil, when he approached and spoke to him. The vice captain was unused to anybody besides his daughter asking to sit with him when they were at camp. Rath looked down at the bit of soil that was clearly not occupied by any body, and then back up at Wil. "...No." he responded, as he looked back at the fire.

The blacksmith took a glance around the fire. Lots to the group, many faces he had not met before. A perfect time to meet people. Seemed the others that were from Cloak were taking their own break so why not do so himself? There was a bunch of merry people here after all.

Glancing on over, he noticed a new face to the group that he could possibly help out. Moving on towards Roy and Ora he offered a smile. "Your weapons holding up fine?" He asked. If not, he could always do a bit of work on them.

"He's changed," Wil thought to himself. Then again, so had he, it had been ten or more years since the last time the two men had seen each other. The archer offered the back of Rath's head a sad smile as he sat down.

The two men sat in silence before Wil broke it.

"I... I heard about Lyn... I'm sorry Rath."
