There was a certain code that was meant to be followed in any organization or group, and Captain Buddingtonite was certain that everyone had to have known this. In the Negaverse, they were given several orders all at once, but all of them were very crystal clear. The Senshi were their enemy, and if one could not be corrupted, then they should be killed. Buddingtonite firmly believed this, though he was gearing more towards the 'corrupt' part of the spectrum. Let someone else do the dirty work. Not that he had any problems with killing a Senshi on the morality part, he just lacked the physical ability to do so for now. The one Senshi he tried to starseed fought back and the wounds he suffered for it made the endeavor not worth it. So, Buddingtonite had a healthy respect for those not only willing to kill, but capable as well.
But there was a code to follow, and Buddingtonite felt that it was violated. Someone else had not only tried to trick his target, but tried to kill her! Medea's cries were still ringing in his ears as he found himself standing in the park, just outside of the dim light of the lamppost, and that made his blood boil.
Who was this Mariposite? And how dare he impede on his territory? Medea was his Senshi to corrupt, his bread and butter, his ticket to the top, and Mariposite nearly RUINED it! That was the story he told himself to mask the truth from himself as to why he was so livid about this, and that was the story he would tell Mariposite. This was simply a conflict of interest and he'd set things straight with him... even if it resorted to a few harsh words being exchanged along with black eyes.
He pulled his crystal close, deciding it was best to give him a call instead of exhaust himself looking all over the city for him. He already wasted too much of it bringing Medea to safety. "Captain Mariposite, this is Captain Buddingtonite. I'd like to set up a meeting... I have a certain matter to discuss."Orangeish Sherbert I hope this is an acceptable start.

Mariposite wasn’t used to getting calls. In fact, when the crystal that spent most of the time in his jacket pocket started speaking to him, he was confused. And concerned, and. Well. Maybe he even thought himself a little crazy…but that just wasn’t something that crystals were supposed to do.
He pulled the purple thing out and stared at it, turning it around in his hand. Sure. He had been told that it was a communication device. But he hadn’t actually believed it.
Finally he put the thing close to his mouth, clearing his throat and going into his best trucker voice. “Ten-Four. I copy. Mariposite here. Where would you like to have this meeting? And what is the thing that we will be discussing? Uh…over.”
So he wasn’t a trucker. That didn’t mean he couldn’t try to act like one. Maybe he could toot his own horn and everything. Toot Toot!

Had Buddingtonite been aware of Mariposite's confusion, it might have helped to diffuse the situation by tenfold, and yet, Buddingtonite was oblivious. He was waiting, and waiting, and he never usually got to the point of tapping his foot in classic sign of impatience, but today he was going to make an exception. This was beyond annoying. This was downright insulting, but he tried to hold on to his anger, even when the voice that replied back did not seem to be taking this entire situation seriously.
And why should he? To be fair, Mariposite had no clue what he had done wrong, or who's territory he had unknowingly was stepping on. For that, Buddingtonite was willing to cut him some slack, and part of him admired that certain quirkiness and sense of humor that he had to respond in such a way. For that, he tried to stifen as much anger as possible as he addressed the other officer, because he certainly didn't want to scare the poor fellow away or invoke his wrath. "The park, if that's acceptable to you. You can't miss me- wearing red on my uniform and I'm certain you'll feel me when you arrive."
Then it came to the second part of his question, and Buddingtonite mulled over his words, but only for a moment. Had to pick them right. "A little birdie told me that you tried your hand at starseeding a pretty little maiden recently. I merely wish to discuss this event, if that's okay with you?"
He tried to keep his tone professional as possible, not wanting him to think him as enraged as he truly was, nor congradulatory to this feat. He'll know his intentions once he arrived. As angry as he was, he didn't want to break into a fist fight... not unless he was certain he could not only win, but get away with it. No need for both of them to die this evening. Just a friendly dispute... they were all adults here, right?

Mariposite continued to stare at the crystal in his hand, waiting for the voice to speak from it again. The park? He could do that. No problem at all. “Ten-Four good buddy, I’ll meet you at the park…” He trailed off when the person on the other line mentioned his attempt…and failure of procuring Medea’s starseed. Oh. Oh well. This could turn into a very awkward situation.
What if he was questioned? What if he was accused of being too close to her? Of being weak and unable to take it? Of course, these accusations were completely correct. He was too close to her, and he had been too weak to take the starseed. Damn.
The captain put the crystal into his pocket and seriously contemplated just powering down and going home. This didn’t need to happen. None of this needed to happen. Hell, maybe if he really didn’t want this to happen, he could just go to Camelot and beg for some way to purify.
Oh hell.
Grudgingly, the captain teleported to the park, feeling the other negaverser almost at once. “Buddingtonite, I presume? I’m Mariposite. Nice to meet you.”

When others called him "Buddy", Buddingtonite didn't really mind so much. In fact, he adored it. It was endearing, and he often encouraged others to call him such. After all, it kept up the appearance that he, Buddingtonite, was an approachable, a dependable ally, a friend. And he wanted to think that 90 percent of the time, he was.
Yet Mariposite was one of the few that found a way into that rare 10 percent, and as childish as it was for Buddingtonite to want to strangle the crystal right now in place of Mariposite, he couldn't deny the thought from crossing his mind. He put the crystal away before whispering with a sneer, waiting for the other officer to arrive. "Not your Buddy..."
He wasn't sure what to expect when he finally arrived, but he could see how Medea, or anyone, could be pulled into a false sense of security around this fellow. Just by looking at him, he could assume that he had used his devilish good looks and some charm to lure her in, and as angry as he was with him, he found himself respecting him, which only made this easier for him, surprisingly.
"Indeed. Normally, the pleasure would be all mine, however, I have a little issue to discuss with you," Buddingtonite said, his face wearing a pleasant smile even when his body told a different story. Hands in pocket, shoulders stiff. No, Buddingtonite wasn't too happy at all, and yet he still kept his voice pleasant and professional, even if it was a farse. "A little birdie told me that you made an attempt at a Senshi's starseed fairly recently. One named Medea. I'd like to know if this is true... please, spare no expenses either. I'd love to hear everything."

Mariposite flashed a smile and held out a hand, feeling increasingly worried that he was seriously about to get chewed out for not being man enough to take her starseed. This was just not what he wanted to deal with right now! Seriously.
“Ah. Yes indeed. I did try to take a starseed from a senshi…I suppose her name was Medea. A pretty thing, with purple hair? A fluffy fuku?” He tried to keep his voice light, uninterested. He really didn’t want to be accused of being soft for a senshi. What kind of a fool would that make him? Oh, his stomach felt like it was in knots. This was not a good thing. Not at all.
“I almost got it but I suppose she bested me. It didn’t work out the way I had hoped…I had never been taught how to take one properly, you see, so I guess I did something wrong.”
No, he did it right. He just…couldn’t keep it, that was the real issue. He felt bad. Couldn’t stand to hurt her. Couldn’t take the sight of her being in pain.
He was so weak.

Buddingtonite may have been angry, but he was still a gentleman, and it would have been far too damaging to his reputation to not accept the hand that was offered to him. Part of him wanted to grab it for the sake of pulling him closer so that he could drive the point home, and nothing would have done that better than a knee to the gut. But, he was a gentleman, and this man was his comrade, so he merely gave the hand a squeeze before pulling away.
On the inside of his brain, he was considering his words and just how much of a verbal thrashing he would have to give the other captain, but on the outside, he merely continued to stare at him with a forced polite expression on his face, the corner of his lips a weary twist in an attempt to hide the scowl. "Yes, that description rings a bell. I know this senshi personally myself, which is why I've come to give you a fair warning."
He heard his excuse and it was hard not to want to laugh at the poor fellow for his supposed blunder. Knowing nothing of the whole event or what was going on inside of Mariposite's conscious, Buddingtonite decided to waste no more time in the matter. Now his smile faded slightly, and there was an edge to his voice that, no matter how much honey he'd tried to coat it with, it would still tear the innards of anyone trying to swallow it down. "What you did wrong was encroach upon what's mine. You see, I am in the process of recruiting her over to the winning team, and it's vital that she remains quite alive when she inevitably makes the cross... which, you see, is why I can't allow anyone to take her starseed."
There was also a possessive tone in his voice, and when he feared he was too blunt with his approach, he took a step back and added, "However, I understand that there's no possible way for you to have known this... hence the warning."

Mariposite raised a brow. Interesting. So that’s what was going on. He had to admit, first he felt relief, surging through him and making him want to laugh, though this wasn’t the time to do that he knew full well. After that faded and he really took account of Buddingtonite’s words he gave just the smallest of frowns, nodding. “I see. I had no idea and she had given me no indication. Had I known, rest assured I wouldn’t have done what I did. I don’t want to step on any toes.” He gave a grin, though now it seemed he had bigger problems to worry about.
This guy…this creep wanted to bring Medea over to their side? Why would he do that to her? How could the think that they were the winning side at all? They were just a band of…jerks. Of jerks who didn’t understand what they were doing.
And he was swiftly becoming one of them. No, no. This wasn’t going to be good. He was going to have to tell her. To help save her…and maybe in the process…she could help save him. Maybe indeed.
“Is that all you wanted to tell me? Here I thought I was going to get yelled at for blundering such a simple task!” He let out a laugh and shook his head. “Good luck in bringing her over, she’ll be beautiful on our side, I’m sure of it.” Not that she wasn’t already beautiful, but hey. What could you do.
Part of him wanted to befriend this guy just to see how far he was getting with her. Maybe just to see how much he had to break to get him to lay off.

"Well, now you certainly know and so long as we reach some sort of understanding here, then that's perfectly fine with me." It was certainly a weight being lifted off his shoulders and it reflected when his expression fell into a more natural form. His shoulders slacked slightly, his brow was no longer crinkling and his smile was more smooth, and whereas Mariposite was willing to stiffen his desire to let out his nervousness with a laugh, Buddingtonite wasn't quite so willing, or able, really. His chuckle came out as trickling water and he was able to contain it before it turned into a raging river, as he spoke to Mariposite. "I just don't want my hard work to go to waste, that's all. I suppose if a senior officer gave a different order and I could not convince them otherwise, I'd have little choice in the matter, but I'd rather like to do whatever I can to keep that young woman and that investment alive."
Buddingtonite was no mind reader and on a normal day he might have questioned Mariposite's silence, but today wasn't that day. The fact that this incident wasn't intentional was enough to quell his anger and any disgust he once felt for this man was gone. With an outfit and appearance like that, it was hard to stay angry at him for too long, but he wasn't too eager to jump on those bones just yet. Not with Medea waiting for him back in their little secret hideout, anyway. Maybe that'd be a date for later.
"Pulling starseeds is no simple task, and neither is pushing Chaos into them. Don't belittle yourself over that, at least not with me," Buddingtonite said, giving a dismissive wave when he thought he was angry at him for that reason. The stitches he once wore from his attempt on Thraen's starseed was clear enough proof that the task was difficult and he wasn't too eager to show them off at the moment either. However, his offer of luck wouldn't go without notice, and he tipped his hat slightly, not realizing just how wicked or sleazy he might have been coming off right now. "Do not worry for me, captain. I'm taking this slow and steady as these things take time... soon I'll have her eating out of my hand and the Negaverse will have gained another valueable asset to our cause. I won't stop until I either have her unquestionable loyalty or her starseed..."
In which case, he hoped that it would never, ever come to that. Medea would be his... someday. Even if he had to beg and bribe his superiors to spare her life, just long enough for him to completely and utterly ensare her. "Now that we're on the same page..." He tipped his hat and turned to leave. "Captain." Orangeish Sherbert Buddy is like 'NO, MINE.'

Nicolae listened and with each passing moment the dread inside of him grew. He had to do something. Had to warn Medea. Had to just…figure out what he wanted with all of this. He nodded at the things Buddingtonite said and kept a smile on his face, but really just didn’t know. Dind’t know what on earth he was supposed to do now.
When the other officer gave a word of leave he flashed another award winning smile. “You have a good evening, Captain.”
The purple clad negaverser turned the opposite way and went off on his own, trying to come up with some way—any way to help the adorable senshi that he had somehow began to care about. What a bother girls were.
What a bother indeed. ChibiGingi TINY FIN AND IT IS ON BUDDY. >=D
