When you didn't know what was going on in your life anymore, and find yourself at ends with what you believe, what else do you do other than look for the answers? Hypnos didn't know if she would find a solution here tonight but it was better to seek your answers than to simply hope for them to fall upon you, right? She would be proactive about it, and find some light in the darkness tonight.
Her journey brought her to the town square, and when she caught a glimpse of herself in the reflection of the fountain she couldn't help but stop. She couldn't escape these feelings, and her hands raised up over her fuku and fell over her chest. Why did she feel this way? She shouldn't feel this way about her appearance when she worked so hard to be presentable. Her skin was delicately handled, hair was perfectly groomed, and she made sure to brush her teeth at least three times a day. Why did her chest size matter?
Upset with how the day turned out, Hypnos' face distorted into a frown and her hands slashed at the reflection of her in the fountain. She watched with unease as the ripples formed over and away from the area her hand touched, causing her image to distort. Even though the ripples, Hypnos could see what caused her grief and turned away from the fountain with a sigh. What would the fox say about this? Well, just like the other animals it looked at her with its bright blue eyes and asked her not to eat it. It seemed that despite all her attempts, she simply could not escape her feelings as Ainsley even as Hypnos and vice versa.

For Merlinite, things were a bit more simple. He knew where he belonged, his only trouble was finding a fight he could win. He was not strong enough yet to do anything big and important, but in that same vein he could not get stronger without winning some fights. So he had to find some kind of a balance, some how, to push himself farther without biting off more than he could chew.
There had to be some way for him to become more powerful, so he could prove himself worthy of being promoted in this fantastic second life of his.
What that could be, though, he had no idea.
Tonight, he was out looking for his own brand of answers. He needed starseeds and energy, and he would at least continue to drain those that he could take out, the civilians he met on the dark roads, and collect as much energy as he could for the Negaverse.
He felt the aura of a senshi nearby, though there was something strange about it, and he made his way toward it. He was hoping he would find someone he could actually fight at the other end of this aura trail, but he was beginning to doubt it. He spotted Hypnos at the fountain, arching an eyebrow.
"Well, well, what have we here?" He'd met chibi senshi before, but he was bad at discerning which ones were and which ones weren't. The whole aura thing, and visual differences, were lost to him for the most part.

Hypnos had sensed the chaos signature prior to Merlinite getting close to her but she was hoping that it would pass on by. When it didn't and she heard a voice come up from behind her, she slowly turned her body around. She was fairly tall, already 5'5", with a lithe body. She didn't have anything in the way of a chest but it was almost just as hard to judge age off that as it was height. Her eyes though, her icy blue eyes, stared intently at the lieutenant that was unlike most twelve year olds.
"The name is Hypnos, how can I help you?" She asked softly, brushing her hair over her shoulder.

"Hypnos, eh? Well. I'm Merlinite. In case you're confused, we're not on the same side."
He grinned at her, standing with his head cocked to the side, his hand gripping the weapon he had been granted when he became a negaverse lieutenant. A small baton, good for smacking and swatting but little else. He loved it, despite how flimsy it could sometimes be.
He knew it could have been a lot worse for him. He saw a lot of pathetic weapons from other Negas, and even worse from knights.
Clearing his throat, he pondered the senshi over, trying to decide what she was. He couldn't tell, but at the end of the day, he didn't care. They were all supposed to be enemies, right? So anything White Moon was liable to get smacked around.
"I'm going to take your energy and starseed back to my bosses, if you don't mind."

Healing cuts from Wolframite's blade burned at Merlinite's accusation that they were enemies. Wolframite said the same thing and she had argued against him until a fight broke out between them. She didn't want to fight with people simply because of a power signature difference between them. If she liked someone, or wanted to help someone, why should that stand in the way? Why did a power signature become more important than the people themselves?
She sighed, shaking her head at Merlinite.
"I'm afraid I can't allow you to do that," she said solemnly, her hands raising up protectively in front of her chest. She wouldn't give up her starseed to anyone.

"Well, that's the thing," Merlinite said, confident for a Lieutenant that did not win battles very often. He thought he could take this kid though, since she was at least very obviously younger than him. Which was not saying much as most of his opponents seemed to be younger than him.
It was fine, he wasn't going to worry about things like that.
He grinned and he charged for her after that, not really waiting for any further signs or conversation. He attacked her outright, swinging his baton at her and hoping, finally, that he could actually win a goddamn fight. Even if he didn't get a starseed or any energy, he just really wanted to win one.
He was starting to feel like he wasn't good enough for this job, and he hated that feeling. He hated it, utterly. He also needed to remember that he was on the information team, and that meant actually doing something more than fighting.
"What's your name, kiddo?"

Unfortunately for Hypnos, she'd had experience with baton and baton-like lieutenant weapons. They hurt and she wasn't exactly planning to get whipped in the face again so when Merlinite got close enough to her to swing his baton, she opened her fists and spread the sleep dust all around them as she moved to duck away. As a chibi senshi, she was quick, and as an eternal senshi she was strong enough to make sure that when she moved back she properly blocked the baton with her hands.
"We don't have to fight," she said softly, watching the lieutenant. He was probably starting to feel like he was going to pass out as the sleep dust tried to get a hold on him. However, when he asked her what her name was she found herself tilting her head awkwardly. What? She had already introduced herself!
"You've already said my name so I do not believe you've forgotten it quick enough to ask again, Merlinite. Is something wrong?"

"Of course we don't have to fight," he laughed, shaking his head. "But there are plenty of things I do that I don't technically have to. It makes life a bit more interesting that way, don't you think?" He grinned.
He watched her, thinking he could easily win this one. But then, he had thought that about literally every other fight he had been in, so there was every chance that he was lying and this was pointless.
"Not that name," he said, shaking his head, "your sphere name. Who are you, Hypnos? Senshi of... creepy staring? Fountains? Questions?" He was the one asking questions, but hey. There was no need to split hairs here, he was just trying to gather a little information for himself. Most of the time, anything he found out the Negaverse already knew, but he'd keep trying.
He hadn't really noticed the dust, thinking it some silly sand trick, until he started feeling heavy and sleepy. What the hell did she do to him? Had she just used her magic on him without even calling her attack? What the hell was that?
Clearly he knew absolutely nothing about senshi, which made the whole Information team thing pretty pointless.

Hypnos frowned at his words. Why would you fight when you didn't have to? She shook her head at him, disagreeing with his question.
"I don't. I suggest you go find someone who wants to fight then," she said with affirmation, watching his eyes carefully before deciding this might be a good moment to leave. She turned away from him quickly and began to run in the opposite direction from where he stood. He didn't have a ranged weapon like Wolframite did so if he wanted to get her he'd have to chase her.
Her thoughts couldn't help from race back to earlier in the day though. Why did nothing go how she wanted today? She would have liked just one thing to go right. She needed something good to distract her from all the crap that was filling her civilian life. Right on time, her stomach growled unpleasantly at her and she winced a bit. She really hadn't eaten much today thanks to all of that. It probably wasn't good to patrol like that.

Merlinite felt very wobbly and sleepy, but he was not very happy to have been duped by the little senshi. If he had any sense he would have realized that she was more powerful than she looked, but he was really bad with auras for some reason.
"Damn it, why are all you senshi impossible to fight?!"
He was ranting a bit, flailing his arms angrily, but it was mostly impotent. He could chase her if he wanted to but now he didn't feel like it: he was very tired and he wasn't sure why. All he really wanted to do was just go home and take a nice nap.
But one day he would find a senshi that he could beat, and maybe he would figure out how these auras and power levels worked, so he would finally be able to pick his fights with some kind of sense to it. Right now he was just doing it like a moron, and that was not going to get him anywhere close to what he wanted.
To be the goddamn best, of course.
