Soft fall rain pattered against the window. Amarus traced one finger across its surface, before forcing her hand to become intangible, sliding it out into the open air, letting the raindrops fall through her spectral skin. She smiled, feeling the faintest bit of moisture, and then drew her hand back in, staring at the solidified skin. The Poms Behemoth Diamond Dust Molan had given her, whom she had named Promise, lay curled up in her lap. She smoothed a hand over its back, and looked down at the book on the windowsill. She was in the school, not exactly hiding from the rain, but enjoying a silent, contemplative day. It was, however, making her very sleepy.
She stretched a little, disrupting Promise's nap, at which point he stood up and swished his tail back and forth, gently disembarking from Amarus' lap to pad towards the door of the empty room. She stood, bells chiming, and began to follow him, book in hand. He marched proudly down hall to hall, his gold adornments glinting, and eventually they made it to the library.
"Ah, Promise, why are we here?" she asked the behemoth, tilting her head, her bells chiming clearly again as she stepped into the library. Well, she'd been reading anyway, after all-- as she entered and searched the room, she thought she saw Molan in all his easily-identifiable blue hues. So unlike her own black, pink and purple. Amarus stepped towards him, a smile blooming across her face. She paused to lean down, extending her arms to Promise, who jumped up into them and settled against her chest.
"Molan, I suspect this is the best gift I have ever been given," she greeted him. She no longer remembered the pin she'd once been entrusted with from someone she also no longer recalled, though it was buried somewhere in her dorm room.

The library was an easy guess if one was looking for the demon. Molan enjoyed the quiet peace that came with it. That and he was at school to learn something. Where better was there to study than the library itself? So of course it was common for him to find him there going over a text or two, particularly on a day that would keep anyone inside. Much as he liked the cold, he enjoyed being soaked about as much as most students(water based ones aside). Which meant not at all. He lightly flicked the page of the book he was reading, his eyes focused on the page. A guide to the Paradox of Insanity, possibly an odd title. But really, with all that happened around there, reading up on some potential person who might have been out of their skull, wasn't too odd. Though really, with some of the theories in the book, it was questionable how it had ended up published, and even more of a wonder anyone bought it.
It was an interesting enough read though. And he wasn't really intending to put the thing down until he'd finished. He didn't have a class to run to, and well... weather prevented him from heading out. With his phone silent he didn't have much to do aside from reviewing things. And wondering how long it was until something else happened. Well, he'd likely survive as long as it didn't destroy a chunk of his room again he'd find a way to manage. He hadn't seen anyone die from one of these events yet. They couldn't be THAT bad.
..and somehow he was getting used to them. That frightened him a bit more than anything.
Still, his inner musing over the events that seemed to so commonly occurred was interrupted as he heard the chime of bells behind him and glanced up curious. He was greeted by a sight he hadn't seen for a while, not since... one of those previous moments he'd just been thinking of. Curious how the world worked at times. He offered a light smile as she spoke, mentally musing over the fact that her greatest gift was a minipet. Not that he didn't enjoy them, but that made him wonder about what the rest of her time in this world had been spent doing if that was the highlight of it. "I'm honored that I was able to provide such a treasure." In truth, the things kept showing up in his room, and much as he loved them he didn't need twenty. He already had a shion infestation he was happy to keep after all. "I hope you're well this day?" He added, briefly glancing to the book before him to note the page before closing it.
It would be rude to ignore a friend, it could wait a bit of time. "What brings you to the library today?" Though perhaps it was obvious, he'd found it was normal to inquire? And he'd been practicing that.

If Promise hadn't led her there, she probably would have continued to utterly neglect the library; Amarus was notoriously not one to get along with printed words, in any capacity. It wasn't that she was too dumb to get it or anything, it had a lot more to do with that she really didn't want to-- when she tried to read, the characters became all messed up in her head and she took an extra step to turn them into something she could recognize. An overwhelming sense of unfamiliarity, probably thanks to her past, before her ghostly existence. She couldn't remember, so it didn't matter either way. Mostly she just avoided books, and was fairly happy to no longer have an eyePhone, even if it meant she hadn't checked Critter in ages. It had been pretty fun. Perhaps she could bum a phone off someone just for that purpose.
Amarus' room had been almost entirely destroyed, which hadn't bothered her at all. However, it had also meant her old pets had disappeared. Promise was part of a new family of minis, and he seemed to be fitting in alright. It made her empty room a little less lonely, though more often than not she was outside anyway. She was simply not someone who ever received presents, really; she seldom instilled that kind of affection in anyone, which was, in her opinion, a good thing. Being fettered with ties like that would only slow her down. Still, Promise was lovely and even-tempered. "What is well?" she asked, not understanding the concept. No one really asked her how she was doing, it was pretty much something that just went un-asked. No gifts, no small talk.
"Promise led me here, and I thought I would say thank you. I am not sure why he wants to be in this place, though..." she said, with a shrug, looking across the room with her vacant expression. "Do you have class soon?"

Books were a treasure trove of knowledge to him. And being that he'd always been taught knowledge and understanding were keys to life, that made books a powerful tool. Being clever and sly was all good, but not understanding how to best manipulate that knowledge was a giant hole in any plan. A slip up in a contract that could cast you into a rather deep pit of despair you couldn't break. As such, he found it ever more important to truly know the world. Even if it never came to be of much use, being prepared was important just as much.
Still, it didn't exactly prepare him for the peculiar question that Amarus offered, causing him to pause as he was pushing himself up to his feet. Then smile lightly. "A perception that varies from person to person. However, my concept of it is a state of feeling no particular ill, but a contented peace at the moment?" It seemed a fair and neutral enough example of it. Still, he wasn't entirely sure how to take her asking that question. He did at least get a more easily understood answer to the his next question, so perhaps that peculiarity was done. "Hmm, perhaps the quiet?" He offered, looking to the small mini a moment before back up to the ghoul. "No, I was merely taking my own time to study. I've no further classes today." He added, then once more noticing what had initially caught his attention.
Right, she too had a fondness for a certain noisy accessory. They did make a nice sound too, quite pleasant to listen to in her coming and goings. "I never did have a chance to ask." He lifted hand to point to one of the bells in her hair. "You seem to like them too then?" While some people did wear bells from time to time, he'd found many didn't do so daily. At least not to the level he did.
