The signs had been everywhere.

Fliers on the bulletin boards, gnomes chattering in the hallways, notes in the Cafeteria food which thankfully ended after a few reported cases of choking, but the biggest sign was probably the most obvious. Out side of each occupied room appeared a glow in the dark arrow on the floor, pointing down the hallway and eventually down into the common room itself. No matter how you found out about it or how long it plagued you, the message was clear:

Quote:
Mandatory Ghost Dorm meeting in the Common Room on Curseday at 7pm!
Be there.
Bring a pencil...or six.

Curseday came and Amrita could be found in the ghost dorms. At first she was loitering in the common room, quietly watching the passer-bys. As time wore on she started to get more active, and eventually she could be seen rearranging the room, pushing furniture against the wall and making a nice wide open space in the middle.

When the allotted time rolled around, there was a table and a piece of paper in the middle of the room; Amrita was still there, talking to three students: Amarus, Frost in the Storm, and Lattice. "-So that's the plan." She ended her conversation, and as a note of finality she turned away from them to view the group of Ghost Students that had gathered in the dorm.

"Thank you all for coming." The Patchwork started, her voice rising easily to silence the conversations in the room. "First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Amrita, and I am your Student Council Vice President. Behind me are your Dorm Resident Assistants, - or Dorm R.A.'s - Amarus, Frost in the Storm, and Lattice." As she introduced them she gestured to them, each in turn. "They are here to help you adjust to Dorm life as well as to moderate, so if you have any noise related complaints, interpersonal issues you would like to discuss, or even just need someone to talk to, be sure to see them. They would be happy to help." Yes she was volunteering them, but really...someone had to. They had yet to announce the RA's, and this seemed a good a time as any. "Let's give your RAs a little round of applause!" Her applause was a little less than enthusiastic, but the attempt was there.

"Now, down to business." She paused for a moment, looking out into the crowd of ghosts. "We have been asked to get you together as a group and have you decide on what Colours, Mascot, and Motto you would like to represent you and your Dorm in an upcoming event." The Patchwork's twisted, backwards hand gestured towards the table and paper in the middle of the room. "The House Colours will be decided by vote, please fill out this form and drop it in the ballot box. The Mascot and Motto however..." This time she trailed off, gesturing vaguely.

"If you have any suggestions, now would be the time to speak up."

OOC
PRE-TRIAL: TEAM BONDING EXERCISE

The common room of your dorm has been rearranged. Any furniture has been pushed back against the walls and more had been added to line the room perfectly. In the middle of the now open space rests a table with a sheet of paper and a pen. Nearby stands your Student Council representative and two or three probably familiar students, each wearing an intricate little badge.

It looks like something's brewing...and the Student Council wants to make sure you're properly represented!

At the end of this ORP, the dorm will have Two House Colours, a Mascot, and a Motto to represent them in...something.

gaia_crown [ STEP 1: VOTE FOR HOUSE COLOURS ] : This is the first - and easiest - thing to do. Have your student approach the ballot box and submit their votes for their Dorm's House Colours. Please copy and paste the form below into your post; these will be tallied at the end! You may do this once per character, so long as they are enrolled into this dorm. Be sure to remember that this is based in Halloween and suggest colours accordingly. Dorm RAs are not allowed to cast a vote at this time.

Student Name:
House Colour Vote: (Please choose two i.e. Black and Blue. You can vote for one colour twice instead!)
gaia_crown [ STEP 2: GIVE SOME INPUT ] : Once you have voted for your colours, there are still two things left, and these will be decided as a group! Brainstorm some ideas for a Mascot and Motto to represent your dorm. It's okay if you can't think of an idea, you're welcome to back someone else's. This is for you and your Dorm mates to decide and hash out together as a team. After all, whatever decision the group agrees on will represent your species as a whole in the future!

Try to keep them as relevant as possible to your particular dorm and the general setting of Halloween; so while pink and purple with sparkle princesses would be hilarious for Demons, it's not an entirely plausible suggestion. Dorm RAs are not allowed to suggest a Mascot or a Motto at this time.

gaia_crown [ STEP 3: DECIDE AS A GROUP ] : Amrita, Amarus, Frost in the Storm and Lattice are only here to moderate and to keep the conversation flowing. They are not here to decide for you. This is for you and your dorm mates to decide and agree upon. If in the end it boils down to a tie, the Dorm RA's will be the tiebreaker. If a decision still hasn't been reached, then the presiding SC rep will choose.

gaia_crown [ THIS THREAD ENDS ] : On Friday September 20th at 11:59pm PST, OR if Amrita (Enoh Love) has been quoted with an agreement! We will be checking to make sure that a decision has been made, so don't you go making an executive decision!

May the odds be ever in your favour wait wrong fandom...

Lattice had been punctual when it was time to come down for the meeting. She took the duties seriously and even brought a notepad and some pens to scribble down notes with as Amrita talked and explained the situation to her. The Engraver took this seriously, perhaps a little too seriously as it made her a little on the nervous side when she wasn't doing anything.

When she was introduced along with her other RA-affiliated companions, Lattice simply gave a short little bow while uttering a quiet monotone, "I am pleased to be of assistance to anyone that needs it."

She then waited for a second so everyone could get settled and start thinking things over.

Amarus was, for once, very punctual. She waited in the ghost Common Room, where she'd been frequenting of late, and stood next to Lattice and Frost as she waited for Amrita to introduce them to the students. Her aura was casting a strong glow around her, and she had her hands perpetually folded into a kuji-kiri as she kept silent. Her face, though poker-blank until she was introduced, was a little less harsh than normal. It was purposeful. It was the result of a lot of practicing.

"A pleasure to assist you all," she began, and bowed neatly, her bells ringing. She smiled, as best she could: "Unfairness won't be tolerated, certainly," she added, "So if you have been wronged, or you have experienced unwanted conflict please feel free to seek me out." Questionable substances would be tolerated, probably; experiments, most likely. Friendly brawls, too-- well, okay, she'd do her best.

Amarus began to eerily stare at all the students in the Ghost commons, as if willing them to suggest something terrible so that she could hunt them down later-- and have a pleasant chat with them, of course.

In actuality she was just bored and trying not to fall asleep. Occasionally she'd make eye contact for far too long.

Quote:
HELLO EVERYONE! If you want Amarus' attention or my attention, please also feel free to summon me!

The words flew in one ear and out the other. Zero had simply been there, due to circumstance and coincidence, and a large gathering around that had made him think he had finally found an elusive science fair.

Unfortunately it wasn't, unless science fair was all about Dorm Resident Assistants and colours and ballot boxes. This was a very confusing science project. Maybe they should rethink their terminology used. Zero was very disappointed in you. Frowny face.

This was a fairly important thing. Chaya scrawled down her vote.

Then she raised her hand; without waiting for anyone to actually call on her, she blurted out, "Ghost dogs! Like, like Jack's favorite minipet, you know!"

Slipping quietly into the common room and listened with an extremely serious expression. The matter of colours was her first concern, as it seemed the only question she could really contribute to, new as she was. Plus the idea of debating over mascots and mottos seemed a bit daunting. It wasn't that she was shy, so much as reluctant to start shouting out her opinions to a group of strangers. Especially after Amarus's offer both made her interested and a little bit wary of RA who readily offered to deal with wrongdoings and conflicts.

But colours by ballot? That she could do. First she picked the most universally liked and inoffensive colour she knew: pink. Then she looked around for another shade these people might like. Making a face, she just wrote down black. There was a lot of it around Amityville, so somebody must like it.

Voting! Voting was fun. Voting for colors was even more fun! It seemed important, like they were designing their very own super hero league. Every league needed good colors.

Wally clapped and let out a breath of foggy spirit in his excitement.

There! Orange and blue where great colors. When he'd turned that in he swiveled to face the rest of the residents, expression delighted. "Our mascot should be a superhero!" That way everyone would know they would save the day!

Siobhan fangirled and squealed and clapped for the RAs, her banshee level screeching drastically distracting for most. The banshee wrote her suggestions in delicate cursive writing with silly little flair before slipping it into the box.

Stepping back and floating off to the side, the long haired ghost began to panic and fret as she tried to think of a good mascot and motto.

"UHM um uh..." She started, her pitch going up and down. She made a strange humming, shrill whine as she began circling the room, her hair dragging behind her and effectively dusting the floor.

It wasn't hard to see that they would be having a dorm meeting, but it didn't stop Eira from checking her clock every thirty seconds to make sure she wasn't going to be late. When 6:50 rolled around she went ahead and made her way to the common room. It was rearranged differently than usual, but she stood their like everyone else. When she saw Frost she put her hand up and gave a little wave, but was soon asked to clap for all of the RA's. They did a good job. Eira was not disappoint in living in the ghost dorms.

It was time to vote.... for a thing? This was all a little weird and too involved for her. She bit her lip and quickly jotted down her vote and gave to the ballot hungry box.

Now they had to think of a mascot and motto!? Ugh, this was going to be awful.

Tybalt picked a spot on the floor. However, before he sat down, he yanked one of the sofa cushions down with him, claiming it for himself.

The idea of having colours and a mascot to represent each dorm was a new idea to the black dog, but it was a welcome one. In fact, he rather enjoyed the competitiveness between the students and always loved to participate in events, so why not jump at the chance to help craft one?

"I'm actually fond of the traditional colours, myself." He tapped a finger against his chin thoughtfully. "Blue and white maybe?

As for a mascot...

An idea popped in Tybalt's head and he held up one finger, before quickly getting up and darting up to his room. In a few minutes he reappeared again. This time a piece of paper in his hands, along with a couple of pencil crayons.

"Ghostly wisps can pretty much represent most ghosts, so maybe something as simple as that?" He said, holding up the paper for the others to see.

He wasn't going to mention that it was also due to the fact that wisps were easiest to draw.

Eira offered a smile to the ghost dog, crouching down beside him to examine the picture he had quickly drawn for everyone. "That's adorable!" Her uncovered eye scanning over it a couple time before saying anything else. It was a wisp, she would be proud to wear that on a shirt or have a goofy mascot running around dressed up in something like that.

"I wonder what we are doing with these designs..." The ghost paused biting her lip for the moment before turning back to Tybalt. "Do you think someone will have to dress up in this?" Her brain was racked with worrisome thoughts. "But... I think it's a wonderful design that incorporates tradition and the spirit of the ghost dorm." She gave an encouraging nodded. "Any one have another view or idea?"

Wally squished his cheeks between his hand in horror. "That's not a superhero!"

Though it was kind of cool. A little. A teeny bit.

"No clue. This whole idea is news to me."

Tybalt shrugged at Eira's question and concerns. "That actually wouldn't be that hard to make. I can easily sketch up a costume design of it. Besides, all mascots are supposed to look ridiculous." He added, grinning his usual wide toothy grin. "Or if we want to get real lazy, we can just make a mask and use our tangibility to our advantage. Or choose someone who can go completely invisible to wear it."

When Wally spoke up, Tybalt reached out and grabbed Wally by his scarf, tugging him back. "That's because we're not designing superheroes. Just mascots." Now he was leaning on him, keeping the whale ghost from escaping.

Victoria had appeared behind Tybalt after submitting her vote for house colors. Staring at his drawing, she leaned in and whispered in his ear, "It needs a mirror, good sir."

Oh no. The other boil was right. Wally had this all wrong.

"The mascot could be a superhero, though," he said weakly. He was fighting a losing battle though. There was no way he could match the confident cool of his opponent! Instead he just stood still and frowned as Tybalt leaned on him.

"Can it at least have a cool superhero name?"
