Anyhow, I'll just be posting some very general information (of which I'm not too clear myself
xd ) and a site link.
Chinese astrology can be divided into two catergories (I think, haha), Ba Zi (Eight Words) or Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star).
Ba Zi are the eight words signifying the time in which you were born, and um... stuff can be derived from them. Each word specifies a time period (cycle, month, day, hour etc), and each one represents an animal and its respective element. Each element has its own yin or yang polarity. The words each have their own "stems" as well, where there are other elements found within the word and other things such as "hidden" elements. Of the eight words, there can be auspicious combinations as well as inauspicious ones. Ba Zi can be used to paint a picture of someone's potential, products and property in body and spirit. There's a lot more stuff, but I'm not bothered to type it out... do a google if you want to know more, yes o__o.
Also the other one, Zi Wei Dou Shu (or Purple Star as I'll call it now on), is based on a star chart, much like the western astrology we're familiar with. I'm not too sure about how this works, but I'll try x)~ The purple star system has 12 houses and animals, and I think that the position of the houses work the same way as in western astrology, as in different times of the day will define houses with different animals. I could be wrong though. Anyhow, with purple star you have the major planets, as well as many important stars. The planets and stars are given names and qualities, depending on which house and where they are placed, they will either be benefic or malefic, but I believe we're all familiar with this already.
