Entry mission

Will hid from a distance, around corners, on top of buildings, trying to keep up with some Cipher members. He was judging them and their Pokémon. The Snagem leader had entrusted Will to snag his own Pokémon by letting Will borrow an Absol and a pokéball. By judging the Cipher members, Will would be able to pick out a weaker target. He didn’t want to return empty handed and with a severely damaged Absol, assuming he’d be able to get away.

Will had been watching the Cipher members for at least 2 hours. They were just hanging out around alleyways mostly, sometimes arguing over something stupid. Sometimes they’d just stay quiet. Will was hoping to hear any amount of information on their Pokémon. If it wasn’t for how loud the Cipher members yelled when they argued, Will probably wouldn’t have been able to hear any of their conversation from the distance he was watching.

Eventually, one of the Cipher members had brought up how “awesome” his Croconaw was. He made sure to mention how many people he had beaten with it. Another member had brought up his Zorua while the other was talking about his Aron. Will was thinking about snagging either the Zorua or Aron. The Croconaw sounded nice, but a bit too powerful for him. It was probably just big talk and lies, but Will couldn’t take the chance.

They really didn’t ever split apart, must be a gang mentality. Will was getting really bored tracking them down for so long. He almost thought it’d be easier to just find another Cipher member somewhere else. But then, his window of opportunity came. The guy with the Croconaw was leaving the other two in a rage after yet another argument between the trio. Will waited until he was out of sight before making his move. Then he went out into the open, Absol in hand.

“Hey!” called out Will. “Up for a Pokémon battle?” He couldn’t reveal that he was actually trying to snag their Pokémon, he needed the element of surprise. He tried his best to not reveal the Snag Machine that was under his shirt. He wasn’t used to having it on just yet. The glove part of the machine was unequipped and tucked away under his sleeve, ready to be pulled out at any moment.

The two Cipher members looked at him with smug expressions on their face. “Do you have any idea who we are, kid?” asked one of them.

“Of course, you’re Team Cipher,” responded Will.

“Then you’d know to stay away,” said the other one.

“Well, I guess if you’re scared, I’ll just have to tell my friends that Team Cipher are frightened of a teenager …” Will was trying to stir them up, get them to send out their Pokémon.

It worked, they both reached for their pokéballs. “Alright kid, we’ll humor you …” They each threw out a pokéball. Two Pokémon appeared in a flash of bright light. Aron and … Aron? Surely one of them is Zorua. Will was only given one Pokéball, so he had to make the catch count.

“Absol, go!” Will sent out the Absol that was given to him. Will hasn’t ever had a Pokémon battle, but he watched a lot of the League broadcasts. He just hoped to not slip up.

“Aron, use headbutt!” commanded one of the Cipher members. The Aron rushed toward Absol, head down.

Will hesitated for a second, not knowing exactly what to do. Then he just shouted something. “Absol, get out of the way! Then use flamethrower!” Will was positive the Absol would have dodged it anyway, it looked well trained. The Absol sidestepped the Aron and then let out a blast of fire. Direct hit. The fire had almost hit Will, he could feel the warmth to his side.

“Fury Swipes!” commanded the other Cipher member. The supposed Zorua was already at Absol, ready to strike. Absol started every swipe thrown at it.
Will stood there, astonished by the quick movement of the Absol. Then he heard another command. “Headbutt!” The hurt Aron rammed itself into Absol’s side. Will heard the clunk from the iron smashing into bone. How did the Aron still have strength after taking a flamethrower? Absol recovered from the hit, still waiting for a command.

“Absol, night slash!” Absol quickly slashed at both Pokémon. One of the Aron turned into a Zorua after being hit. Aron was struggling to stand back up, Zorua was already back on its feet.

“Now Absol, use-“ Will was cut off by another command.

“Water gun!” a voice came, followed by Absol being pinned to a wall by a blast of water. Will looked and saw the Cipher member that had left earlier.

“Absol, use thunderbolt!” yelled Will. The Croconaw ended its water gun attack to not allow the electricity to follow the stream. Absol shot electricity from its body, aiming it toward the new enemy Croconaw. The Croconaw dodged bolt after bolt. It didn’t seem like the kind of Pokémon that could move that fast.

“Croconaw, Ice Fang!” The Croconaw rushed up to Absol, still side stepping the thunderbolts.

“Absol, double team! Keep using thunderbolt!” Before Croconaw had reached Absol, Absol disappeared, then multiplied, surrounding the Croconaw. The real Absol shot the Croconaw with a bolt of electricity. The Croconaw stretched in pain.

“Croconaw, water gun!” the Croconaw got up and shot a stream of water at the Absol, knocking it back a bit and destroying the double team illusion.
Will was feeling more confident about being able to own that Croconaw at this point. He just needed to weaken that Croconaw a little bit more …

“Zorua, use Faint Attack!” The Zorua disappeared into darkness, then reappeared behind Absol and struck it.

“Croconaw, Water Gun again!” The Croconaw sent out another stream of water, hitting the Absol.

“Absol, Thunderbolt, now!” The Absol quickly shot it’s electricity through the water stream, electrocuting the Croconaw from the inside. The Croconaw fell over, knocked out.

Absol was looking pretty weak, Will wasn’t sure how much longer Absol could take all the abuse. He had to do something and get out. Will moved the glove part of the snag machine down, around his hand. The Cipher members looked shocked.

“You’re part of Snagem?!” yelled one of them.

“Not yet …” Will said, holding a Pokéball in his hand. Each of the Cipher members brought out their Pokéballs to recall their Pokémon. “Absol, quick attack!” commanded Will, pointing at the Ciphers. He wasn’t about to let them ruin his only shot at capturing something. Absol knocked the Pokéballs out of each member’s hand in a split second.

“Aron, Metal Claw!” yelled out one of the Ciphers. It was no use, Aron couldn’t find the strength to run, much less stand up without wobbling.

Will took aim at the Croconaw, then threw the ball. As it soar the air, the Absol blocked the shot with its horn. The ball continued to travel until it met a new target, a Zorua.

“Absol! What was that about?!” yelled Will. The Absol just looked at Will and shook its head. The Pokéball shook once … twice … three times … and then it clicked. Will had captured the Zorua. The Absol brought the Pokéball back to Will as the Cipher members were yelling at them and started to give chase. Will just ran, Absol following him. Will ran until he couldn’t anymore. He either outran the pursuers or they just gave up. He didn’t know. He was just glad to have made it out.

“Absol,” Will started. “I don’t know why you did that, but please bring me back to the base.” The Absol started walking off, Will following.

Interesting Trees

Have you heard of the Entree Forest in Unova? No? Too bad, because that's where you're going. I want you to go out there and do a bit of research. The people of Unova say that dreams materialize within the forest and I want to know the hows and whys behind this belief. Go to the Entralink, and stake it out for a while. I want you to collect a few samples of foliage and soil from the area while you're there, as well. And if you can, bring me video footage of this materialization. You might be there for a few days so bring plenty of supplies.

Objectives:
---Bring me back a sample of Entree Soil, Entree Leaves, Entree Bark, Entree Blossoms and some Video Evidence, if possible.
---Stay and keep a record of what you can discover for me. I want to know anything that might help me understand this phenomena.

Opposition:
---There's not likely to be much since Pokemon don't normally live here. The ones that do, however, are said to be extremely friendly and join trainers without so much as putting up a fight.

Pokemon:
---If you happen to catch video evidence of dreams materializing, you may witness the birth of a Pokemon you've been looking for. Feel free to catch it if it's your dream.

Rewards:
---2-4 Snag Coins depending on mission quality.
---A special Pokemon Egg from me for an exceptional mission and if you didn't catch one during your expedition.

Will could see it. His target location. The Entralink. It was right in the middle of the Unova region, clearly visible from the plane he was arriving on. It didn’t look to have any paths leading to it. The land mass was surrounded by a giant pit. Will detested doing this mission. He wanted to do something more serious. Something bigger than gathering a bunch of dirt and sticks. Despite these feelings, he had to. If he didn’t do his assigned missions, he’d probably be kicked from the team, and he needed this.

The plane finally made its stop in some city east of Mistralton City, just over the mountain. The flight from Johto to Unova was long. Will double checked his bag to be sure that he had everything he needed. A tent, containers for the plants, his SNAG to capture video, a few days’ worth of food … his snag machine, just in case. He probably wouldn’t need it, but he’d rather know it was with him than left back at the base.

Will walked around the city a little bit. He still wasn’t used to cities. After growing up in Solaceon town all his life, even the smaller cities felt massive. A girl looking like a trainer was starting to pass him up. He decided to ask her directions. He could make it there himself on foot, but maybe there was a way that didn’t involve climbing the pit.

“Excuse me, miss, do you know how I would get to the Entralink?” asked Will.

“Entra-what?” replied the girl.

“Uh … nevermind, then …” Will continued searching the streets for people who may know how to get to the Entralink.

Every response was the same. He started asking more people like shop owners and businessmen, desperately looking for an answer. Each response with the same amount of confusion.

This didn’t help Will’s attitude toward the mission. He was pretty much just expecting a camping trip for a night, two nights maximum. Instead, he just wasted half a day trying to locate a way into the grounds.

After hours of questioning people, when the day had turned to night, Will decided to give up his search. He needed to find a hotel or something to stay in. He’d just walk to the Entralink first thing in the morning and see if he could climb up that ditch.

Will had settled on a hotel named “The Keirrith Hotel”. It was several stories tall, between a Kanto foods restaurant and a sports goods store. He walked through the double doors to greet the guy at the front desk with a heavy sigh.

“Room for one, please …” said Will. “One night stay.”

The man handed him some paper work. After filling everything out, Will was handed the key and walked to his room. At least it was on the first floor. He was happy to finally drop the bag he was carrying the entire day. He washed up and was able to lie down on a nice, soft bed. Normally he had trouble getting to sleep. Will was always worried about his mother, the extra stress of not being able to do this mission didn’t help. But the bed was so soft, he drifted right to sleep in no time. Was it the bed? The exhaustion? Didn’t matter, it was just time to rest.

Will dreamed the same one he always had since learning of his mother’s cancer. It always started out kind of nice. Him and his mother just enjoying the activities they used to do together. Watching the Pokémon League tournaments to cheer for their favorites, sometimes they’d visit the Solaceon daycare center just to visit the elderly couple that lived there. Then, his mom would just vanish. Gone from the reality his mind had created for him nearly every night. His dream self would always feel so much grief.

Will woke up in a sweat. Every night, the same. When would he be free from the nightmare? It couldn’t last forever. He checked the Paras themed clock in his hotel room, 5:49 am. Will pressed down on one of the mushroom buttons to prevent the alarm from going off, then slowly departed from his bed. Grabbing his bag, he walked out of his room. Will left the keys to the room in the hotel key deposit box. After walking outside, Will checked the SNAG map. He went east, towards the forest. Just past it would be the Entralink. The pit, anyway.

Hiking through the forest took much longer than Will had anticipated. The forest didn’t seem that large on the map. The sun was already halfway through the sky. Will didn’t know why he was using the sun for time, he could just have easily looked at his SNAG and seen that it was 12:33 pm. Will tried to not stop walking, but he had never moved around this much before. His feet were aching.

“Just a little farther,” Will told himself. Sure enough, he finally saw it. After passing through another clearing of trees, Will found himself tumbling down a giant pit. He regained balance halfway down, only suffering from some bruises and cuts. Nothing too major. Will carefully slid the rest of the way down the steep hill until he met with the bottom. He gazed up at the cliff in front of him. Straight up and smooth, there was no way he could climb it. But maybe one of his Pokémon could help …

Will chose the pokéball from his belt that held his Natu and pressed the button, making the ball increase in size. He threw it out, and his Natu appeared in a flash of light. “Natu, use teleport, bring us to the top of this cliff!”

Will grabbed on to the small, green bird, expecting to be instantly transported upward. His Natu disappeared in a flash and reappeared, flying not even a quarter of the way up the side.

“Natu … can you only teleport yourse-“ the Natu was already nodding to his question before he could finish it. Will let out a sigh and recalled his Pokémon. Maybe Zorua …? He knows it can transform into things. Will pulled out his other pokéball, sending out his Zorua.

“Zorua, can you transform into a rope? A giant ladder? Something?” the Zorua smiled happily and disappeared in a puff of smoke. In its place, a ladder stood tall, leaning on the side of the cliff. Will smiled, maybe something would go right for once on his trip. As he attempted to climb up the ladder, he passed right through it. Of course, it was coming back to him now. Zorua could only create illusions, they were never a reality.

The Zorua transformed back, happily wagging its tail and barking its name. Will gave the Zorua a pat on the head and then recalled it. Looks like the whole trip was a waste.

Will walked back through the forest, following the SNAG’s map/GPS. It was only 1 am when he had returned to the hotel. He wasn’t even sure if he could book a room this late. He walked into the hotel lobby, the same man from before at the front desk. Will walked to the front desk and requested another room for another night. He’d come up with a way to get to the Entralink in the morning.

“I’d like … a room … for one night, please …” said Will, completely out of breath.

The man gave him a certain look as he was pulling out the paperwork for Will to sign. “Son, if you don’t mind me asking, what is it you’re doing here?” asked the man. “You come in two nights in a row, completely exhausted. You’re even all bruised and cut up today!”

Will hesitated for a moment to grab the paper from the man. Why was the guy so concerned about Will? Will just didn’t expect it. Wondering these things, Will took the papers from the guy and responded.

“I’m trying to get to the Entralink.” A very short answer.

“Is that all? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Will looked confused for a second. This guy knew how to get there when everyone else in the city didn’t? “Come back here tomorrow morning, I’ll show you how to get there.” He handed Will the key to his room. The same one, like he had been reserving the room, knowing Will would return.

Will washed up again, this time cleaning out his cuts. None of them were very deep, surface scratches at most. He reviewed his food rations. Only enough to last him one more day. Will walked back to the lobby and took a few of the packaged muffins. They weren’t much, but he needed to be able to stay in that forest until he got everything he needed. He packed the muffins into his bag and laid back down on the bed.

Will dreamt the same dream again. Night after night, it wouldn’t stop. He woke up, the Paras alarm was going off. It shouted lots of Paras cries. Will pressed down on one of the mushrooms to stop the alarm. Then he noticed the time. 7:12 am. Will grabbed his bag and walked out to the lobby. The man was at the front desk, saying a goodbye to another one of the hotel’s residents.

The man noticed Will and motioned for him to go to the desk. The visitor left and Will walked up, giving the man back the hotel key.

“This is your ticket to the Entralink,” said the man. Will looked at the object in his hand. It looked like a watch.

“Are you kidding me?” asked Will.

“I know, but just trust me when I say this thing has what you need,” the man was fidgeting with the buttons, trying to turn it on.

“Listen, mister … uh …” it just occurred to Will that he didn’t know the man’s name.

“You can call me Kerry,” Will could see that he had successfully turned the watch on.

“Kerry, you can barely turn the watch on. How am I supposed to trust that this thing has any use to get me to the Entralink?”

“I suppose you can’t. But all you have to do is press this button here,” he pointed to the yellow button on the touch screen that said “Entralink”.

“What, and that’s supposed to magically teleport me to the Entralink?” asked Will. “It’s just a watch …”

“Young man, this is called a C-Gear. A customer left it here years back. I’m not going to pretend to know how it works, but it does.” Kerry kept talking before Will could get a word in. “Now, the way I see it is that you can press this button and be taken to where you need to be. If it didn’t work, you’d have nothing to lose pressing it either way.” Kerry slowly started to move the device forward, toward Will.

“Well …” Will couldn’t believe could actually work, but he might as well just press it to prove the man wrong. It couldn’t possibly work, right? Will outstretched his finger to press it on the screen.

Kerry snatched the C-Gear away quickly.

Will looked a little angry. “So you urge me to press it and then won’t let me press it. What exactly are you accomplishing here?”

“Before you go, there’s some things you must know.” Will listened, but didn’t want to sit through the lecture in the slightest. “Well, one thing really. The only exit out of the Entralink is a portal. You’ll see it when you get there.”

“Okay, okay!” Will was getting impatient to press this button. Kerry placed the C-Gear on the counter and Will slowly pressed his finger to the screen.

Will all of a sudden felt … odd. His entire body felt … fuzzy. He was getting dizzy. He was starting to fade out, but also felt as if his body were rising. Like if it were flying. He closed his eyes and passed out.

Another dream. This one was … different. He saw a house. On a floating island. Was it for him? There was a garden to one side of the house, a … shelf on the other side? There was also a long rainbow which seemed to lead to a strange land. Strange in a good way. It looked natural and clean. He could see many different kinds of Pokémon frolicking, flying, swimming, whatever they were doing. It was nice. For the first time in a while, Will was enjoying his dreams.

Will woke up in a small field. There was a small tree in the middle. Two trees? They twisted around each other, one black and the other white. Will looked around the area. There was a portal behind him. It looked unnatural among the other things. A field and a forest. This was the Entralink that the man talked about?

Wait a second … that watch actually worked? It brought Will here? That couldn’t be. Either way, he was there. Will quickly searched his bag for his SNAG. He recorded a small video of the surrounding area. Will started talking to the video recording.

“You’re never going to believe how I got here …” he said, slowly panning across the field. There were bridges on either side of the field. Those weren’t there when he was in the pit. “I am now starting the investigation of the Entralink and the Entree forest, as requested.” He stopped the recording after showing the portal back.

Will walked towards the forest area. The grass under his feet was so soft, like it was untouched. Will had walked a few steps into the forest and then stopped. He pulled out one of the containers from his back and scooped a wad of dirt from the ground into it.

He turned his attention to a nearby tree. After pulling out another container, he attempted to take a chunk of bark off the tree. Only pulling off small pieces, Will decided he’d need some help.

Will pulled a pokéball from his belt and tossed it into the air. Zorua appeared in a flash, giving an excited yelp. “Zorua, use Fury Swipes on that tree!” commanded Will. The Pokémon started slashing at the tree with its claws, ripping off portions of the bark. When the Zorua was done, it looked at Will with a glimmer in its eyes. Will gave the Zorua a nice pat on the head and then recalled his Zorua.

Will then focused on getting the leaves of the tree. He pulled out his other pokéball and tossed it out, revealing his Natu. “Natu, fly up into the trees and get me some leaves,” said Will. The Natu just stood in the grass for a few moments. “… Natu?” The Natu stood still for a few more moments before zoning back in and following the commands. Natu flew up into the trees and returned with a beak full of leaves. After a few round trips, the container was full.

“Thanks Natu,” said Will, recalling his Pokémon. Will checked the list of things needed for the trip. “Dirt … Bark … Leaves … all that’s left is to get some blossoms.” Will didn’t mention the video of materializing Pokémon. Surely it’s just rumors, nothing like that could actually happen. The C-Gear teleporting him there could have just been a leap in technology, but Pokémon can’t just appear out of thin air.

Will looked at the area around him. There didn’t seem to be any signs of flowers. Will went deeper into the forest. Will just followed the path in, he didn’t want to get lost. He couldn’t find any signs of flowers. No petals, just grass and trees. There wasn’t even Pokémon here. Minutes turned into hours as Will walked, stopping every so often to break or have a “meal”, if hotel muffins could count as a meal. He didn’t want to leave this place until he found everything he needed. It was night. Will had set up his tent in the middle of the pathway. He felt safe in the area, he couldn’t quite explain it.

A dream. Is it a dream? It feels so real. Will was back at the floating house island. He decided to explore the ground. Instinctively, he knew to walk on the rainbow. It acted as a sort of bridge. He had no idea where he’d end up. He ended up at a mountain. On the mountain, Will had befriended a Teddiursa. They played games together. They raced each other in the sky. They piled an ice cream skyscraper. Will could feel himself waking up. The Teddiursa didn’t look sad, however. It looked excited. Happy it had the opportunity to make a friend? Will wasn’t sure he’d be back.

Will woke up in his tent, his eyes still closed. He wanted to rest just a little longer. It was such a pleasant dream. Could the Entralink be causing such nice dreams? He felt warm. Rather, he felt something warm, snuggling and sleeping with him in his tent. Will opened his eyes to check what it was. A Teddiursa was snuggling with him.

Will screamed, more shocked that he wasn’t expecting something to actually be there. The Teddiursa woke up from the scream. Will reached for his pokéball that held Zorua. The Teddiursa just smiled at him. “Go, Zorua!” yelled Will. The battle ready Zorua had frightened the Teddiursa and it ran off, breaking the tent as it tried getting away.

That Teddiursa … it couldn’t be the one from his dream, could it? No. A coincidence, clearly. But now his tent is ruined. At least Will still had his sheets and pillow. He could always do without the tent. Will recalled his Zorua and tried to free himself from the tent wreckage.

Besides the whole Teddiursa incident, waking up that morning was super refreshing for Will. He finally untangled himself from the tent that had collapsed on top of him. Will was surprised to find out what was outside. The entire path had suddenly been coated with blossoms. Blossoms on the trees, blossoms on the bushes, blossoms everywhere. The entire path around him was pink and white. Will searched for his bag in the wrecked tent. He pulled out his SNAG and started the video recording.

Will started panning the camera across the path and talking into the recording. “Yesterday, before I slept, all of this was not here. I don’t know what’s going on, but now I’ve found all the materials you needed. Still no sign of Pokémon that just appear out of nowhere.” Will stopped the recording and grabbed a few of the blossoms. The final container was now filled.

Will packed up his tent and headed back on the path. He needed to stay one more night to see if he could find any sign of materializing Pokémon, but he figured he’d try to be closer to the exit portal.

Will had been walking circles without realizing it. The pathway from the entrance had merged into a path that went in a complete circle. The exit path was nearly impossible to see going the direction he was going the day before. He had already made it back to the main area with the twisted black and white tree before lunch.

Will sent out his Pokémon and had a meal with them. Scrambled hotel muffins with a side of muffins. He started feeling sick after eating so many, but it was all he had, with plenty to spare. He didn’t remember taking so many muffins, but he wouldn’t be surprised if he did without realizing it. After eating, Will recalled his Zorua and Natu.

He constantly scanned the area for any signs of a Pokémon. It felt like hours he had been doing this, but it had only been about 15 minutes. He needed something to do than just stand around. He didn’t want to go back into the forest. While scanning the area, Will laid eyes on the bridges. It was time to investigate.

There was something there on the bridges he didn’t notice before. There was a near invisible … force field? Will didn’t know. It intrigued him, though. He walked toward the bridges, onto the stone bricks. Will walked until he was almost face to face with the force field. He pressed his hand onto the surface. It felt like he could push through it.

Will had to really push to start going through the force field. It didn’t hurt, it was kind of tingly. As his arms went through, his shirt started to turn into a white tuxedo. Will freaked out and pulled his arms back through. They changed back on re-entering.

Will tried once more. He pushed his whole body through. He looked down at himself. He was wearing a white tuxedo with a blue undershirt. His pants were also white, to match the shirt. That’s the only color he could see, however. Everything else looked monochrome in color. Like an old black and white movie. Will pulled out his SNAG to record everything he saw.

“This is probably the weirdest thing that’s happened. I’ve walked through this force field which changed my clothes. And also everything around is completely black and white.” Will stopped talking after he realized that everything in the video looked normal in color. He pointed the camera at his arm and it was his own clothing, not the new one provided by the force field.

“I swear what I say is true. It doesn’t look like it on the camera, but it’s happening.” Will ended the video recording right there. He was tempted to just delete the message so he wouldn’t look like a loon in front of his commanders. But maybe they’d believe him in the end. He couldn’t know for sure.

Suddenly, something caught his eye. It looked like a young kid wearing a bright orange shirt and hat. And he was coming that way. Why could he see the kid’s colors and not anything else? The kid walked across the bridge, waving to Will. Will waved back. A weak wave, but still a wave.

“Hey, Willard!” yelled the kid. How did he know Will’s name?

Will ran toward the kid until he was in the kid’s face. “Who are you and how do you know my name?!” Will was shaking the kid by the shoulders.

“No need to be so surprised. It’s me, Kerry!” Will slowly started to let go of the kid. Could it be true? Maybe the force field changed more than just Will’s clothing, did it change him into a whole other person?

“Kerry? What’s going on?” asked Will.

“I don’t know the specifics, kid, but I love every second of it.” Will was a little taken back by a child calling him that, even if it is Kerry in another body.

“So, what do you know about this?” Will was started to get agitated by not having answers.

“All I know is that when we leave the Entralink this way, we’re given an entirely different body.”

“What are you doing off the Entralink, then?”

“What can I say, I like being young again every once in a while. I just warp in and walk to town.”

“If what you’re saying is true, how did you know this was me?”

“I didn’t. I just ASSUMED it was you. Not many people really know anything about this place, they just know there’s a strange middle part of the region that’s uninhabited.”

“Well, let’s go back inside the Entralink. It’s a little strange talking to you while you look like … that.” Will started walking toward the force field to change back into his old body.

Kerry ran up to Will and grabbed him. “We can’t talk in there.”

“Well, why not?”

“No one can be in the same Entralink.”

Will looked confused by learning this information. “The same Entralink?”

“Every person has their own Entralink. Like a multiple universe kind of thing.” Kerry had walked through the force field and disappeared, then walked back out again. “See?”

This was getting weirder to Will by the minute. “Why are you telling me all this?” asked Will.

Kerry shrugged. “You were looking for it, I’m telling you what I know.”

Will was perplexed. He was happy that he had someone giving him all this information. But he just couldn’t figure any of it out. He figured since Kerry was splurging so much information, he’d ask him a question about the materializing Pokémon.

“Do you know anything about Pokémon that just … appear?” asked Will.

“I’ve heard of it, but I’ve never had the experience myself.” Will interrupted him before he could finish.

“Who told you?”

“A friend I made. Who also uses the Entralink.” Kerry said this quicker than other time he’d talked, like he wanted to avoid it. “Anyway, he told me that had captured a Pokémon that was there after a night of camping. We both believed that it had just appeared, there’s no way that a Numel could live naturally in the Entralink. Especially since there are no wild Pokémon there.”

Will thought back on the Teddiursa he had found in his tent. No, Pokémon born from dreams do not exist. They couldn’t. It defied all logic. He needed visual proof of it.

“Thank you for the information,” said Will. He started walking back through the force field.

“Good luc-“ Kerry got cut off as Will’s head entered the force field.

Will checked his clothing. Back to his old self. He set up camp a small ways into the forest, he wasn’t sure if they appeared in the plains. A few hours passed and it was finally night time. Will was tired, but he had to prepare some things before he went to sleep.

Will propped the SNAG up on a bush. The branches were strong enough to hold it in place without breaking. Will pressed the record button on the SNAG and laid down. He seemed to get to sleep quickly. Will slept with an empty pokéball in his hand. If this really was a special Pokémon, he had to catch it and take it back to the base.

His dreaming began. The same island house. Will walked over the rainbow bridge again. He ended up in a haunted mansion this time. Will befriended a Spinarak that was living in the mansion. They played all sorts of games. There was one where they had to blow out candles, and one where they bounced on a Wailord’s water spouts. Will needed to wake up, and once again the Pokémon looked super excited. Will had to get ready for what was going to happen.

Will woke up in his small camp. He jolted up with the pokéball in his hand. He saw nothing in his makeshift bed this time. Something slowly came into view from the top of his vision. The Spinarak was hanging from a tree branch above him.

Will freaked out and threw his pokéball at it in a split second reaction. The Spinarak gave an excited cry as it entered the pokéball. Will was gasping for air after that shock. The pokéball shook. One time … two times … three times … then a final click. He had captured it.

Will needed to view his recording to see if it was true or not. Did the Spinarak just appear, or did it live naturally in the forest? Will snatched up his SNAG from the bush and stopped the recording. Then he pressed the rewind button on the video playback. He saw the Spinarak scurrying around in reverse. Then the unthinkable happened. The Spinarak had slowly been sucked up through a small pink cloud. Afterwards, the cloud dissipated. All the blossoms everywhere slowly disappeared.

Will played the video forwards. The blossoms slowly appeared on every tree and bush around, it seemed to use Will as a center point. The cloud pulled itself together, and the Spinarak slowly fell from it.

Will grabbed the pokéball containing the Spinarak and shoved it in his bag with the rest of the supplies. He wanted to keep it, but if the commanders needed it for researching then he would give it up to them.

Will hurriedly packed his stuff into his bag and bolted for the portal. As he touched the portal, that same sensation from before started. He started feeling tingly and dizzy, then felt like he was rising through the air. But he had passed out again.

Will woke up in the hotel. Had Kerry put him in the room? Will looked for his bag and found it next to the bed. He didn’t even check the Paras clock, Will needed to present his findings right away. As he was running through the hall, he was Kerry at the front desk. Will never had properly thanked him. Will slowed down and approached the front desk.

“Hey,” Will started. “thanks for everything.”

Kerry smiled, “Don’t mention it.”

“So, how much do I owe you for the room?”

“Don’t worry about it. I assume you’re done here anyway.” Kerry kept shooing Will with a smile. He probably heard Will running down the hall and knew he was in a hurry.

Will ran out of the hotel, on his way to get a plane ticket back to Johto.

Notes:

I feel like I rushed this one out. I got too excited, revised over it like, once ... I should have spent more time on it, and I hope I remember that by writing this note.

There were things I left out of the story that I originally wanted to be in. Will was supposed to stay in the forest another night and figure out about the dream Pokémon on his own. I wanted Will to explore the city while in his new body. I decided to leave these things out mostly because it seemed more like filler than something that should be in the actual mission for the first time around.

I've left some things open to be done at a later date. I'll be doing this mission again eventually, which will go more into detail about Kerry's friend. It will also answer who's watching over the hotel while Kerry is away, and other things I don't want to mention yet.

There's something I kind of regret doing, and that's implying a lot of Munna or Musharna is involved (the pink cloud). It seemed like a good idea at the time, but then I thought I should have left it more open. Not to explain it in a sequel mission or anything, the characters shouldn't have an idea of what's going on in the Entralink because it's just too mysterious.
