Ithi hadn't been at school long, but she'd made at least one friend she thought. Still, as exciting as it was to be around so many different types of people she felt strangely alone. She hadn't seen many other dragons around, and most were with people and she felt a little too shy yet to say hello. Open sky was a bit dizzying to her, she'd spent most of her life in the caves with very brief trips outside. Still, she couldn't stay cooped up in her dorm room forever pretending she wasn't homesick. Tonight she wandered the school grounds trying to learn where things were and what would be the best way to get to classes. They'd given her a map but she couldn't really make heads or tails of it any better now than when she arrived. As she wandered she caught a flash of blue and white heading in what seemed to be the opposite direction of the school. She stared after it for a moment, debating her options. The last time she followed something new away from the school she was fighting some giant creature at Prom. It was late and she was alone, was this really a good idea? As is often the case, curiosity is seldom hindered by reason so off she went as quiet as she could manage, to follow the strange person.

That flash of blue and white seemed very determined to get to his destination without any distraction. However, he also wasn't fond of being stalked, especially since the only person who he assumed would even bother stalking him was Sibyl. This was just another game to her, and therefore, it turned into a game for him. So he walked. And someone stalked. But eventually, Gabby found a corner of the building he'd meant to enter, and he slid around it, disappearing out of view. He crouched, trying to stay in the shadows, and waited. When she passed, he was ready to pounce. Just a little more... "GOTCHA!" Gabby flung himself at the body that came around the corner, tackling her to the ground and - and - And that wasn't Sibyl in his arms.

She had kind of enjoyed sneaking after the boy, it made her feel like some sort of daredevil or something. That is until he turned the tables on her. There was a loud choked squeak, the wild thrashing of her tail and an attempt to beat her wings to escape but all she managed was to kick up some dirt around them. "I'M SORRY! PLEASE DON'T EAT ME!" She scrunched her eyes closed as tight as she could and her cheeks were flushed bright red. Curiosity was supposed to kill a cat not a dragon!

The wings stunned him for a moment, because Gabby was always interested in another dragon, but when she started screaming, and his apathy got the best of him. "Ugh, please." He let her go, rolling to lay on his back. "You don't need to yell like that. I wasn't planning on eating dragon tonight. Besides, weren't you the one following me? How come suddenly I'm the predator?" He lifted his hands up, checking his finely manicured nails. Shiny, sharp and deadly. He was rather proud of being very predatorial. But now he was all dirty. "Honestly.." He grumbled to himself, moving to sit up and brush the dirt out of his hair with careful finger running through it.

She sat up carefully, dusting herself off and fiddling with her hair as she ran the usual horn, wings, tail checks to make sure she was alright. "I'm sorry, it's just that everything here seems to want to eat me or kill me in some manner so far...and I just..." She looked him over for the first time, actually getting a good look at him. He certainly wasn't a bronze, but he acted a fair bit like one. Snippy and aloof. The shades of blue and white were stange to her, she'd never seen a dragon quite like that before and she was probably staring at this point. She took a deep breath. "I'm Ithi."

Comfortable with his level of grooming, he stood up, just in time to realize that the ghoul was staring at him. He rose a brow and stared back, as if daring her to look way. "And I'm Gabriel. Sorry for attacking you. I thought you were a friend of mine. She liked to play tricks. But you are - " He got a good look at her. " - Not her. Dragon, though." He hummed the word, clearly interested. "What kind?" While she answered, he went about batting the dirt off of his clothes. Cleanliness was clearly important to him; or, maybe not.. since he was flattening the wrinkles out of the clothes as well.

She sat stunned for a minute as they locked eyes. He's really pretty, she thought. I think he's prettier than I am... He'd said something. Asked a question? She blinked a few times before looking away. "I'm a bronze!" She grinned with pride as she stood up, dusting her own clothes off though not as well as he had tended to his. "And it's alright, I really shouldn't be sneaking after people like that, not in a place like this anyway. I'm probably lucky you didn't actually want to hurt me."

Gabby knew that look. He continued to stare her down, but only because it was fun to know that sometimes, he had that effect on people. After all, he was very pretty. He tried not to smile; that would only make things worse. Instead, he pursed his lips, nodding sagely at the color of her flight. "I've never met a bronze, but I've heard about them. Pretty decent. Not white, but at least you're not a red." His face crunched up in disgust. He tugged the ends of his jacket, and felt that he'd managed to readjust everything to perfection. "That's an odd thing to say." He mumbled. "It isn't like everyone's going to be out to hurt you. You're probably safer here than you are out there." He gestured roughly towards the main gates. "Especially if you're alone." It was around this point that Gabby realized he'd said more words to this ghoul than he usually said in a day to anyone but Efflo, which meant he was talking too much. He took a step back, definitely about ready to abandon the ghoul. "Sooo.. yeah. Sorry again." Where was that smooth exit he was looking for?

"Well I haven't really met a lot of people yet...and I went to the Prom thing, but there was a big monster there too." She took a step closer as he tried to step away. "I've not managed to find my way to any classes yet...or even anywhere to get food, but I packed plenty from home, thankfully. Bronze don't tend to leave the caves but...well they thought I could do with some 'external life experiences'." Her tail fell to drag on the ground and she tucked her wings in close to her. "I'm not very good at my job back home..."

That.. wasn't.. a goodbye. He looked like he was trying to figure out a very difficult problem, when in all honesty he was simply trying to figure out a way to get away without hurting her feelings. He considered telling her that he'd just gotten his period. Then he tried very hard not to laugh. "You get food at the cafeteria. It's two buildings down on your left." Look, that was helpful, okay? Maybe she'd suddenly get hungry.. and walk away. But, something struck him, and he hated to admit it, but it itched him with curiosity. "So you've got, uhm, family, out there?" He hated to admit it, but his skin crawled with jealousy. "Other bronze I mean. They sent you out here, huh?" She looked absolutely crestfallen talking about it, though. She didn't realize how lucky she was to have a family to call home, at all. "What kind of job was it?" He regretted asking the moment the words left his lips - why was he starting more conversation?!

"Yeah, we're pretty close knit most of the time but..." She sighed, rubbing her arms. "As a bronze we watch over time, we aren't supposed to do] anything to change history, but...I was told I get too 'emotional', and I become 'unhealthily attached' to the subjects I'm supposed to watch. The council told my parents to send me off in hopes I'll learn to be better but..." She sighed again, staring at her feet and counting off the familiar scuff marks to keep from crying. "They sent me out and didn't even pretend I had a say in the matter. We're told all the time the world is dangerous and not to leave the caves but...here I am." She offered a lopsided wry smile. "At least I made it here in one piece!"

Gabby snorted with laughter before he could stop himself. "So they sent you to school. To become. Less attached?" He couldn't help himself. It was funny. "Your uh, council, doesn't really get school, does it?" And then he started walking away. The only difference was, this time, he wasn't trying to get away. In fact, he was still talking. "I just came here because I wanted to get stronger. But so far, all I end up doing while I'm here is making attachments. It's disgusting." He snickered quietly to himself. "But it makes sense. We grow up together. We spend all of our time together now. And we fight together. Of course we're going to end up making bonds that require things like friendship and hanging out and - " He gave her a mournful look. "Well. Basically everything your council just said they don't want you to do. So I've got bad news for you, miss. You're going to end up being one hell of a disappointing bronze." Despite the severity of the sentence he'd just given her, he couldn't help it. One side of his face twisted up in a smile.

His laugh was interesting, she got the feeling he didn't do it nearly often enough. She followed behind him as he walked off, only stumbling a few times before catching up; she still wasn't used to her form yet. "They thought that if I came and spent time here I could see 'how bad' these things were and maybe 'get it out of my system'. I'm not sure the Council has ever seen the outside of the caves....ever." She laughed, then, covering her mouth with her hand as she tried to stifle it. "They just sit around all day making rules that don't make sense. The problem isn't having the emotions at all, it's more that I have trouble not acting on them. Empathy is a problem when it interferes with your work."

"Well, maybe you could learn that here. Maybe." He held up a finger as he stressed it. "I mean, sometimes you learn something important, but, most of the time, it's all bullshit. I guess you could learn to control your reactions here, if you find the right class, or whatever." He didn't know. He hadn't learned much yet. "But for the record, if your job has you messing with time? You probably do want to learn how to control your reactions. I mean, bad things happen. That's just how things are. If you try to change that, try to stop the bad things from happening.. you'll probably cause way more trouble than it's worth." He thought about it for a second, nodding as he realized something. "I'd make a damn fine bronze dragon." He wouldn't care enough to change a thing.

"You probably would, you sound a lot like them." She peers at him, standing on her tip-toes to try and get a better look. "Emotions are dangerous, empathy could change history, blah blah blah don't fly in the cave blah." She rocked back on her heels, looking far younger than she was for a moment. "Do you think....could you teach me....to be more like you?"
