It was a quiet night, almost peaceful... the normal sounds of the city floated on the breeze. But, under it all... there was a thread of something rank, something dark and twisted...

Ida knew that thread, maybe not as well as some, but she sought it out and fought it every chance she could. It wasn't all bad, though... sometimes instead she found a thread of hope, of brightness and good. Those times reminded her why she was a senshi as she helped someone go on to fight the taint of corruption. It was hard though, to find the later more than the former. Senshi senses only reached so far and could tell you so much... finding new senshi and knights was hard work made harder by the sheer size of the city and number of signatures already there. It made her wish she could isolate the ones she wanted.

Tonight, at least, she had made some progress. A knight had been fighting an officer and slowly, but surely, losing. Ida had been just in time to make a difference and she had been glad to exchange information with the newbie, both on ways to contact her and ways to stay out of trouble. Hopefully what she was doing was making a difference... though her body felt sore in every joint as she made her way towards her own neighborhood, looking for a good place to power down before she made the rest of the trek on foot to disguise her civilian home.

The street was quiet and dark, children long since gone inside for dinner and homework before bed. She had it to herself, but she kept her senses stretched wide to feel for any signatures that got too close.

Perhaps the guardian cat didn't have a real power signature at the moment, since her feline form suppressed all the energy she could leak. However, her presence was rarely something that she could hide.

A rather cheerful jingling sound could be heard trotting down the street. However, it stopped only once something was up close and personal with the Super Senshi.

"Ah, Sailor Ida, just the senshi I was looking for!" was the cheerful greeting called out.

Being called was enough to stop the senshi in her tracks and she glanced down for the voice she had heard. A smile stretched across her face, because she knew this voice.

"*********!" Ida said as she crouched down to stroke the guardian's head, giving her ears a gentle scratch. "You were looking for me? What brings you out so late?"

It wasn't every night that she got a visit from the little manx guardian, and they always seemed to be special when she did. Would tonight follow that pattern?

"I was just on my way home. Would you like something to eat or drink? My house is just over a couple of blocks."

In true feline fashion, she leaned into the offered scratches, subtle purring rumbling from her chest.

"Ida, you silly girl... cats are nocturnal by nature... so this is probably the best time for me to be out and about!"

When asked about the chance of going to the girl's home and getting something to eat and drink, the round animal easily replied "Yes, I would love to visit for a bit!"

Should she have accepted the offer? Probably not, since it would probably be better to just drop things off and resume a patrol.

However, what was done was done. There was just something about food that was delicious.

"Would you mind if I hitched a ride? Might make the walk a bit faster!"

A smile spread across Ida's face as her offer was accepted and she happily bent to slide her hands under the soft cat belly and lift the guardian from behind her forelegs. One hand immediately went to support her backside, of course, so she wouldn't feel like she was falling. She most likely had claws, like any cat, and the teen really didn't care to feel them, accidental or otherwise.

"Sure, I can carry you. I don't mind!" She chuckled as she set off for home, the guardian cradled comfortably in her arms. It really didn't matter that it wasn't -her- guardian... they all seemed generally sweet and friendly, and there to support the senshi who fought against chaos. Horatio was a good deal different than *********, but they had that in common at least. It was a shame that the other cat claimed to have a senshi she was searching for... Ida would have loved to have her around more.

It really didn't take long to make it to her house, though she did as she had planned and powered down a block or two away. It was unlikely that anyone was following her, but it was better to be safe.

The building she eventually turned in to, pulling out a key to open the back door, was a flower shop, all the lights off save for the ones on the second floor. The room they entered seemed to be a storeage room slash loading dock, and the smell of flowers was strong here, as well as other green things.

"We live upstairs. My dad and I run the shop down here." She said as she headed for the stairs. At the top, she set the manx down and placed a finger to her lips.

"I'll go make sure my dad isn't looking, if you want to sneak into my bedroom while I go get something for you to eat. Its the first one down the hall, on the right. The door should be open because Lulu's bed is in there. Don't worry... she's used to seeing strange cats, since Horatio visits us once in a while." She said softly, keeping her voice low.

For a brief while, ********* as an airborne kitty, flying in the sky with the assistance of a senshi companion. However, soon enough the tailless animal was nestled in the arms of the Super senshi.

It only seemed fitting that a senshi of orchids would live in a place that smelled so lovely. She could have asked a dozen questions about the flower shop, but now was not the time for conversation. Orah made that perfectly clear.

The corners of her mouth did twitch a bit at the request for the cat to sneak. It was practically impossible for the cat to do such a thing considering what she wore upon her neck. However, rather than make a fuss, the feline very, very slowly began to make her way down the hall. There was a good chance she wouldn't even make it to the designated room before Orah returned.

The bell ********* wore had been forgotten in the need to hide her from Orah's father and the girl realized as soon as she moved that it wasn't going to work. Lulu had a bell, of course, but they really didn't need to draw attention... her family all enjoyed lavishing attention on the little calico, so Orah didn't want to chance one of them coming out to find the source of the bell for cuddling and play time.

Bouncing over to the living room in stocking feet, her shoes kicked off at the door, she peered around the corner to confirm her father sitting in his favorite chair, watching TV. Her brother was no where to be seen, but that wasn't unusual. He usually hid in his room when he was home. That place was practically a bat cave the way he had painted the walls dark and covered them with movie posters. The teen didn't dare set foot inside the male sanctum even to clean, for fear of some sort of gypsy curse with the way her brother reacted to her presence.

"Hey Daddy, I'm home! Sorry I'm late, some friends held me up. I'm going to get some food and go do some homework, ok?" She called, offering a smile and a wave that he returned. There was a good-natured response to her announcement, but it was more or less missed as she spun to trot back and scoop ********* up. One slender hand stilled the bell as she scooted down the hall, shielding the guardian with her own body till they were out of sight.

"I'm sorry!" She gasped as she pushed the door closed with a foot, gently settling the cat down on her bed spread. "I forgot that you have a bell on. I should have known better... Here, you stay here and I'll be right back." Orah seemed to have become a little whirlwind as she swept about straightening a few things in the already neat bedroom before sweeping out to the kitchen.

A general shuffling was heard from that direction before she was back again, arms loading with maybe an over-enthusiastic amount of food... far more than a small cat could probably ever hope to eat, even with help from a human friend. Hard boiled eggs, ham sandwich, ceasar salad, strawberries, blue berries, grapes, slices of cheese, little-debbie-like snack cakes and potato chips... There was a good deal of non-meat to the selection, and after that realization, a sheepish look from the young girl.

"Oh, sorry... I guess I didn't know what you liked to eat. I'm sort of vegetarian, but my family does eat some meat. I didn't think you'd like just... kitty food, like Lulu eats." She said, breathless from her rushing about.

The manx didn't get very far before she was airlifted out of her current situation and into one of the rooms. Only once the door was shut and the cat had a moment or two to take a look about did she dare to let out a little giggle.

"...that's okay!" she chirped before Orah abandoned her again. It gave the cat a brief amount of time to look over the current surroundings. The girl kept it quite organized, which was more than she could say for some other girls she knew.

When the girl returned, the cat turned towards the opening door and was quite pleased with what she saw.

Food, glorious food seemed to ring throughout all her thoughts.

Before Orah even had a chance to put it all down, the round animal was already trying to weave herself around her ankles in an appreciative gesture.

"...No, no, you did good! I'm actually not very picky when it comes to food, so if you only offered me cat food, that would have been fine too!" She knew that many other Mauvians were a bit above eating what Earth cats usually did, but to the manx, it didn't matter. Food was food.

"...so where should be set up? Floor? Bed? Desk? Some other option I am not thinking of?" With as wide as the cat's eyes had grown, it was obvious she was excited to get started with the chow-down.

The small body that seemed to be wrapped around her ankles made it hard to go very far without tripping over or kicking that small body, but the teen managed to avoid both while shoving the door shut behind her. They really didn't need one of the men in the house peeking in where they weren't welcome... This was girls-only business!

"I think the floor is fine, if its fine with you. Lots of space!" Orah said as she shifted to a spot clear of cats and sank down on her knees, her armful deposited onto the colorful rag rug in the center of the bedroom. Brown hands made quick work of distributing the food and opening containers before the young girl settled back with a pleased look.

"Help yourself! Even if you would have eaten kitty food, that just felt like... I dunno. You're not a normal cat, you know? Plus, you're a guest and that means you should be treated to the best." She laughed as she sat back and crossed her legs under her, snagging a strawberry to nibble on.

Once the food was spread out, ********* had her pick of anything she wanted. As an appetizer, she trotted over to the potato chips, tugging a single crisp out before nibbling on the edge delicately. "I suppose I am not a regular cat... since I don't believe normal cats would be willing to eat everything you laid out."

With a giggle, she continued to nibble on the crisp until it vanished in approximately 1 minute and 23 seconds.

The next target was the place where the blueberries were spread out. They were small enough for her to gobble up a couple in less than a minute, though it left a small blue-ring around her maw.

The third target was the spot where the hard boiled eggs were spread out, but as she trotted to it, she had to mention her reason of business.

"I appreciate the hospitality! I really wasn't expecting such a welcome, Orah! I honestly thought I'd just be returning that item I borrowed a while ago and then be out and about again."

She stopped once she was next to the eggs, and with a paw, she batted at the pile until one of them rolled off the plate and onto the floor for her to attack. With a small pounce, she began to stuff her face again.

"...I........ don't mind......... this...... option....... Mmmmmm......" she managed to get out between bites.

Orah looked sheepish when she was reminded that cats don't normally eat any kind of vegetation. Reaching up, she ran her fingers through her hair and giggled softly.

"I'm sorry. I kinda forgot, you know? I don't see you guardians as cats, I guess, you're just like little people, so I grabbed what I like and some of the things my family likes and just thought maybe you'd like it too. At least, you seem to like it, which is good." She laughed as she shrugged loosely.

Mention of the item she'd found on Ida made the teen perk up and she leaned forward to put her elbows on her knees.

"Did you have fun with it, *********? I thought it was really fascinating, that's why I brought it back with me. I like to sit and day dream about what sort of stuff it used to do and who might have used it. All the stuff on Ida is really different from the stuff we have here on Earth." She said.

The egg was giving her a bit of difficulty, but mostly due to the object's shape. She managed to get a few bites in before it slipped away and attempted to roll off. However, with a bit of squirming and another pounce, the Mauvian was able to tame the egg for a bit.

"I generally like food... so you wouldn't ever have problems finding me something to eat. Some of the others have been known to... well... have a cat's appetite. Finicky and the such!"

With that she stuffed her face with another large bite of hard boiled egg. A couple flecks of yellow dusted her mouth, but it would get cleaned up eventually.

"Well....." she swallowed a bite and licked at her maw a bit to gather the remaining bits of flavor hiding there. "It was interesting trying to repair it... since it uses plants for parts of the technology. However... all it needed were a couple substitutes, a seed here, a vine there... and voila, good as new!"

She took another bite, eyes rolling up to the ceiling in thought as she proceeded to make quick work of the mouthful. "...You might not have to daydream about it anymore... I got to play around with it, and it does some fun stuff!"

It came as a surprise when the guardian said she had not just tinkered with the device, but fixed it.

"What? You did?!" The teen gasped as she leaned forward onto her hands, her brown eyes wide. "How... but that technology is so different! Mauvians really are advanced, if you managed to find a way to make it work."

Excitement glittered in Orah's eyes as she shifted her hands into her lap, unable to hide her wide smile.

"Can you show me what it does, *********?" The teen said as she squirmed excitedly, hardly able to believe she might actually get to see a piece of Ida technology brought back to life...

The barrenness of her supposed home planet had always bothered Orah. So many questions surrounded the what and why and how of those dead, empty tree homes. Sure, some plant life had started to come back after who knows how long, but this... this felt like, just maybe, Ida really was waking up again and coming back to life. Maybe not the same as before, but it was a start, it was something.

((so many typos to fix xD; ))

After getting through a certain amount of the egg, it was much more cooperative, staying in place like a good little delectable treat! Now that it wasn't fleeing from her mouth, it was going down the hatch rather easily. She would have trotted over to the cheese to snag a slice, but Orah's excitement easily derailed that train of thought.

"Truth be told... it took me a while to figure out. I am certain other Mauvians could have figured it out quicker, but that's okay. It works now, that is the important thing!"

With a hop, she managed to get up onto the bed.

"I also gave it a good buffing, so it's all shiny looking now... so don't get distracted by your reflection!"

With a wink, she jumped up and did a simple back flip onto the soft bed. Beneath her an object seemed to appear, landing upon the soft cushioned space with a subtle twinkle.

"There you go!" she said with a small giggle before quickly hopping off the bed and scampering to the cheese she desired.

Watching ********* jump up onto the bed was sort of a curious thing. It made her wonder, fleetingly, where the guardians kept things, since the cats obviously didn't have pockets... Last time, she had hidden the trinket under her human-form's hat, and the time Orah had gotten her henshin pen, Poseidon had seemed to pull it out of nothingness... exactly how ********* did it now.

Was a back flip part of the summoning process? How much could the guardians squirrel away in that sort of dimensional pocket? Where they all connected, meaning any guardian could access the same stuff at any time? The questions flew about like fluttering moths until a soft plop on the bed and ********* moving to get back off the bed and back to her food drew the teen out of them. At that point, she only had focus for the innocent looking compact that sat on her blanket.

Reaching for it, the teen gently picked up the shiny purple item and turned it about, wondering at the orchid worked in gold on the top. It felt right there, whether or not it had been only ********* idea to put the symbol on the face and not the intention of the original maker... it just fit. It felt both oddly heavy and strangely light in her hand, like there was more inside of it that you'd expect.

The button at the bottom was the obvious mechanism to open the device and when she pressed it with her thumb, the top popped open with a soft sound. What she found inside was a surprise and Orah gently tilted the compact as the studied what looked like a radar screen on the top half, and control buttons on the bottom.

"It looks like... I dunno. Like those things submarines have, the kind with the line that goes around and around, pinging off other subs or boats and things nearby." Her brow furrowed as she pushed the buttons, but the screen remained stubbornly blank. "Did you figure out what it does?"
