Ian had been well meaning, but he actually didn't help Ripley out. It had been some miracle for them to come across the dorms that day, and since then Ripley's internal map was nothing short of screwed. Once he had managed to find the training grounds and was rewarded with a little chat from Otto, which he still wasn't sure was a good thing or not...but since then? Nothing. He wandered anyway, not one to let a bad tour guide get him down, and so far it was paying off. The layout of the place was opening up to him, and where his memory failed the little piece of paper he kept in one of his pockets certainly helped.
It was a map he had made for himself, but it didn't look like one; it was just a series of lines that either intersected or plain ol' ended, and here and there would be a little circle with a number in a tiny script. His hand written map that sometimes helped him and sometimes didn't, and this time...it certainly didn't.
Mostly because he was looking for a place he had yet to actually come across.
"Er...excuse me? Could I get some help?" He called out to the person closest to him, who happened to be quite a ways down the hall still.

Al was equally new but a bit more experienced at least. When he suddenly heard a voice call out for assistance however... he almost shirked from responsibility entirely. He started to turn as if he hadn't heard them when.. 'EY! What the Jack y'think y'doin?! Help them ya daftie! Al winced at the scolding voice of his weapon and immediately gave in to following his suggestion.
"Er... um... hi," Al approached the strange hunter.

Years of experience with flagging down clergy and cemetery staff had him already moving down the hallway, walking with a brisk long stride towards the stranger. By the time the other acknowledged him, he was close enough to extend his right hand.
"Hi. I'm Ripley Crowell, I'm a new Trainee and...I'm a little lost." His hand written map had been tucked into his pockets again, not wanting to let anyone know he even had it. "I'm looking for the Library...do you happen to know where that is?"

Al most definitely knew where the library was. "Oh. I'm Al," and that's all you're getting for now newbie. He extended his hand in return and shook the other trainees hand as roughly as he could physically muster. Mustn't look weak.
"So, you said library? I know where that is. Are you good at following?"

Ripley's own grip had been firm, and he certainly didn't miss the way Al had put his all into it. "That's...quite the grip." He flinched, and as the grip pulled away he wasn't too subtle about shaking his hand to try and get the feeling back; or, in this case, probably put his bones back into place.
"Library, yes." He repeated, rubbing the feeling back into the palm of his hand with a thumb. The latter comment made him give a rather unimpressed stare over his glasses. "I'm as good at following as you are at leading."

Al grinned to himself as the other tried to shake the feeling back into their hand. He had succeeded. Yes.
Al snorted though and saw to calling their bluff, "Fine. Right this way new guy." He moved to start leading, he was still a bit foggy himself on the way however.

It was gonna be like that, eh? Well, okay. The Trainee made a mental note to tread a little more carefully around this one, and certainly no more hand shakes. He followed wordlessly at first, certainly proving his so-called bluff.
"So." Ripley started, finally breaking the silence between them. "How long have you been here?"Saliru Ahhhh sorry for the short tag!

"Several months," Al answered honestly. It wasn't even a full year yet - but still. Pretty damn better than this guy.
Okay, the library had to be this way, somewhere. He tried not to look lost but the creeping sensation that he might just...
"So! Ripley? What do you do for fun?"
Enoh Love I'm even worse, don't worry

"I see." Several months. So he should probably know where things were, right? He hoped so, anyway. Yet with the way the other Trainee was acting...well, Ripley suspected he could also be full of it. Maybe partially full of it, at the most. Still he followed dutifully, more than able to prove that he could follow with the right leader.
"Oh, you know, things." He drawled in an attempt to be difficult, looking elsewhere as he spoke. "On my own I read, with friends I drink, but I used to play competitive paintball and go rock climbing, which is pretty fun. That counts, I think." Come to think of it, he hadn't played paintball in a year or so before his enrolment here. Too bad, really. The rock climbing was more of a constant thing, at least once a week to relieve stress.
"And yourself?"
