Totally unaware of what the curfews were for Deus (or even if there was one!) Abbi decided a late night snack would be best. It had been an exceedingly long day, and while she was dreadfully weary both in body and mind, there was also a small gnawing growing in her stomach. After the nausea had passed the hunger had set in, and thank god it had because Abbi had not brought any medicine with her and wasn't even sure where the infirmary was or if they had the good stuff because look so far this place was really weird. Thankfully, that worry had ceased with the other symptoms as the girl had gone on a tour and gotten her weapon and made a new friend. All that was left to do was have a meal and then her first day would be totally complete!
Only... The cafeteria looked..... Really dark? That was strange... It didn't look like anyone was in there but Abbi still pushed on the door and peered in.

"Heellllloooooooooo? Anyone heeereeeee?" She waited a pause. "I'm new and I don't know how late the cafeteria is open but I'm really, really, reaaalllyyyy hungry and just want a snaaaack?"
Drawing out all the syllables of her words only made her appear cuter, right?

Finn couldn't sleep. For whatever reason something kept nagging at him, something to do with the holes in his memories, with just how they were placed, in a way which made him believe that he had maybe forgotten something important. He'd like think that he wouldn't have given up anything meaningful to himself, but no matter what it still itched away at him, keeping him awake and silently staring at the ceiling, his mind racing a mile a minute in contemplation.

Often, when this happened, he would heave himself out of bed and wander around, or go for a jog along the beach, working himself into an exhaustion that even his nonstop flow of thoughts could ignore. Tonight was to be no exception as he finally propped himself up in his bed with a sigh, then sluggishly rolled out of it to throw on some clothes, for some reason feeling a need to slip into a certain favoured t-shirt, and spur of the moment, pulled on a white hat, leaving some hair that was, regrettably, not blonde but a light brown visibly fringed and sideswept above his eyes.

He also put on pants because that was important before going out, as well as a plain old pair of white sneakers.

Tonight he didn't feel too much like jogging, and so instead stuck to wandering what parts of the facility he thought he could get away with without catching any flack if he got caught. Finding himself heading towards the cafeteria, though, he heard a woman's voice calling.....asking for food?

Peeking around a corner he saw her, a girl who looked like she was probably in her teenage years (maybe older, he was a terrible judge of these things), standing in front of the cafeteria, door open, calling to the darkness inside.

Well okay then.

Debating whether to just turn around and leave before he could be spotted, Finn instead reached up to rub at his weary eyes, then called out. "Hey darling, I don't think the snacks are going to come running out to meet you. If they do, we might have a bit of a situation going on, and in that case I wouldn't suggest eating it. Maybe stabbing it. Definitely not eating it."

His opening lines sucked when he was tired, ok?

For a good long while there was no response and while the cafeteria looked like it had places to sit inside it, Abbi was not really willing to just wander off into the dark. Bad things happened when she did that, even if she'd come to this place to help stop those bad things. That still hadn't made her any less fearful of the dark. So for another good long while she stood there, finally switching from just standing to shifting her weight from foot to foot. Maybe the lights would turn on?
Unfortunately they did not, but a voice called out to her from behind and with a slap of her hands to her mouth, the girl managed to keep herself from screaming as loudly as possible.

With a whirl around she turned wide eyes to the origin of the voice only to have her fears turn into awe. Oh my glob. That guy was all Adventure Time'd out. For a good, mildly short, while Abbi just stared at him.

User Image

When she finally regained her senses enough to stop gawking at his shirt and wondering where she could get a hat like that she took a few hesitant steps forward.
Oh! He had called her darling and mentioned something about stabbing food! OK uh clever retort, clever retort!
"If your food is talking to you it means you didn't cook it enough."
..........................................................

"Uh I'm new here and I just uh wanted something to eat and the lights were off and I wasn't sure if it was past curfew or something but I guess you're here so it means its not can you help me find something to snack on please?" She let it all out in one rush of words, flushing and giving her widest, cutest face to the guy.

Okay so maybe he shouldn't have just shouted out at her like that, considering who they were and what they did and how most of them had fears of some kind...ya, it probably hadn't been his smartest plan ever, but he was tired damnit, and being sleep deprived was a fine excuse for poor judgement and decision making. So of course, she whirled on him, and he was sort of prepared for the usual woman style berating, which was second only to woman style nagging in Annoyance to Finn Tolerance levels.

But then instead she just sort of...stared at him? So of course he stared back, but with a lifted eyebrow and a 'well okay then' sort of expression on his face, though the staring contest was fairly short lived as her expression broke and she took some steps towards him. making Finn drop his own gaze slightly and shift on his feet awkwardly when she spoke, her opening line somehow being worse then his wow.

Wow.

"Right. Ah ha....ya." He frowned at her, about ready to just walk past her and down a different hallway to leave her to her thing when she just kept going.

"Curfew? No theres no curfew that I know of." Unless that was a thing now with the power off, but if it was, he hadn't gotten the memo. "You're fine just..." Woah what was she doing with her face? Was she....ya she was giving him the cute face. Finn felt his lips twitch up in a smile, which as always didn't warm his eyes up in the slightest. An almost predatory look, really, though he'd never heard any ladies complain about it before.

Besides it was probably really hard to pull off predatory in an adventure time outfit, anyways.

"Of course, darling. Not that there's much to choose from, but I'm sure I can get you all fixed up. Can't have any pretty little ladies going hungry, after all." He said, his voice going smooth as he decided to turn on the charm. And why not? She seemed like a worthy enough subject.

He strode forward and pushed open the door for her, gesturing to the darkness inside. "Ladies first. Your table awaits."

A small stream of consciousness that's sole topic centered around how bad it was for a young lady to go sneaking around late at night with boys filtered through Abbi's head, but tonight it went a little differently. For each terrible thought of what could happen, a second voice much different from her own chimed in with how wonderful that terrible thing was. The voice was so far fetched and silly that the teen would never have been creative enough to think of it on her own, given how analytically she tended to think. But the voice was also rather convincing and Abbi felt a nearly never before experience streak of wrongness at letting this man with his suave smile help her find something to eat.
A small laugh, an attempt at something flirty, left the girl and a hand instinctually found the bottom of one pigtail to twirl around.
"So the dorms are co-ed AND they let us wander around without a curfew? Woooooow!"

{ Ach, lassie. You sound like a scareling. }

Before she could even stop it, because she had yet to quite figure out all the way that one could just think to communicate, a chirpy "What's a scareling?" popped out of the girl's mouth.
A blush spread over her face as she looked up at him, afraid he would judge her for saying something totally stupid. Why had she talked to Viveca like that!? Why hadn't just shut her big, fat, stupid--

Oh he called her darling...
Another giggle left her and the girl tried to knock her knees together in a manner that looked cute, not really sure whether she looked cute or not.
"Its so dark in there, is there a light or something?" She asked, taking a few tottering steps past the door only to turn around and look at the man. His predatory look was completely missed, for she had yet to learn the difference between a gentleman and a very patient wolf.

Finn continued to hold the door open, frowning slightly, just the barest hint of tightness around his eyes and furrowing of the brow, when she spoke. She seemed completely enthralled with the idea of the rooming area being co-ed, and the fact that there wasn't a curfew. How old was she? He'd assumed that she might be in her teens, but at least an adult. She spoke like she was still in highschool, however, and that took him aback a bit.

"Scareling?" He echoed, but already Trynt was letting out a raspy chuckle in his mind.

< What you human's would call children. Scarelings are young. Nearly babies. >

"Uhhhhh, Trynt says it's like a baby....." He actually wasn't even sure she was asking him, honestly, but as she had said it out loud he could only assume, right?

Anyways that was besides the point. She was giggling again and trying to act cute, possibly even flirtatious from what he could tell. He still wasn't comfortable with the thought that she might be younger then his first impression had given him hope for, but he could work out her age in due course.

"Well no, the power is out." He thought that much had been, you know, obvious, but he let out a chuckle rather than let any annoyance show through. "But this might do."

He then summoned his lance to hand, with all of it's glowing rune glory, it's light enough to emit a soft pink glow on table tops and chairs. "How's that, darling?"

Since the door had been opened for her, Abbi quickly ducked under his arm, a quick smile tossed over her shoulder up to her new friend before she moved more fully into the darkened room.
{ Scarelings are wee little bab-- }
"Ooooohhh! Babies! But... But monster babies?" Not cute.
A dull hum of words from Viveca filtered through Abbi's mind, but as she was very carefully doing her best to learn, they were easier to filter out when one concentrated appropriately. Thankfully, the man hadn't thought her too crazy for just blurting out words, but as the girl was quickly catching on, most everybody had a voice in their head around here. That was a thought she tucked away for consideration at a later time, perhaps after she was fed and safely in her new bed.

"Yeah! The two girls that helped me out of my crazy chill chamber told me about that, but I figured the cafeteria was kind of important so maybe it would be lit up?" Obviously she had figured wrong, but that hadn't stopped her from asking stupid questions about it anyways.
At least it wasn't hard to mess up being awed by the neat weapon!
A most appreciative "ooooooohhhhh" followed nearly immediately after the man had summoned his weapon, Abbi going so far as to clap her hands together under her chin. Wow! It was so pretty and purple and she loved purple but it looked kind of sharp too and it glowedddd!
"That'll do."

Since the glow was nice, but not enough to light the whole area, Abbi felt it appropriate to tip toe a little closer. Another smile was given up to this kind gentleman, something edging a bit more toward admiration.
"I like your hat. And your shirt. I'm Abbi, by the way..." Don't mind her, she was just going to sparkle at him for a little bit first.

< No, not cute at all. Ferocious. Yes. I was likely the most frightening and ferocious of all scarelings.....>

It was clear that Trynt was going to go on a tangent about a past that he couldn't even remember and could only make up, his growling rasp cutting through Finn's head and making the moon hunter let out a loud, exasperated sigh, one that was most definitely not intended for his current company but might be taken that way.

Trynt. TRYNT. Shut up for the love of......

< Fine, fine.> The wyvern grumbled at him unhappily, though the sudden and strong feeling of discontent that followed was enough to make Finn grit his teeth for just a moment.

And then his attention was abruptly pulled back to the girl when he noticed that she hadn't actually taken any steps further into the cafeteria and he was still just standing there propping the door open while she stood just inside and beamed at him, her small story about her awakening lost in a sea of Trynt's snarls.

Smiling back down at her in much the same way as before, he took a step away from the door and let it swing closed, leaving them both in further darkness but awash in a light, pink glow from the lance held in his hand.

"I'm glad you approve." He replied, before casting a sharp thought to Trynt. What do you know, you can be useful for something. A flashlight. Got any fancy Halloween names for that? Scarelight maybe?

He was pretty sure whatever Trynt answered with was not in any language he'd ever heard before, and that it was not at all kind, either. Whatever.

The girl was getting a little closer to him now in that warm, possibly romantic light, and he shifted his stance slightly, mentally assessing the situation. It seemed all fairly harmless for now, however, and he could certainly keep it that way until further notice. He wasn't here to strip anyone of their innocence, after all.

His smile was a flash of teeth in that dimly lit room. "Do you indeed? I'm rather partial to them myself. I'm Finn, the human. It's a pleasure to meet you Abbi."

Might as well play it up a bit.

A high, somewhat nervous laugh filtered out from Abbi as she stood there in the dim glow of the man's weapon, not sure whether to step away from his wolf's smile into the darkness or risk the danger of staying close by him. Never before had such a cool guy openly flirted with her, and even if this guy was just being really nice, just the idea that he was being nice to her at all was making the teen all sorts of flustered. At any moment she was going to say something irreversibly stupid and forever be damned to a life of loserdom. But if she just giggled, that would keep her from saying something dumb! That was totally a fool proof plan!
{ Oh ya. All the boils love 'em a ghoul who just giggles like an idiot. }
Abbi stopped giggling.

Instead she gave the man one last little smile before she took a chance by walking into the darkness. It wasn't that bad, not really... And his weapon was all a glow so that was at least somewhat helpful!
Another laugh did escape when he called himself Finn the Human and Abbi whirled back around to wag a finger at him.
"Alright 'Finn the Human'. I'm guessing your weapon is 'Jake the Were-dog' too?" This made her laugh too because obviously it was hilarious simply because that weapon had not been any sort of canine in its past incarnation. Viveca had been somewhat vague on her own origins, but had at least informed the teen enough in the regard that she had been a ghost of sorts and that all the weapons were once scary monster type creatures.
"If we're going with Adventure Time nicknames I guess you could call me Flame Princess." At this she pulled both pigtails up above her head to wiggle them around in the best imitation of fire that she could.

{ Everlovin' Jack and Sally. You are diggin' yer own grave. }
Once again, Abbi quickly stopped her silly antics.

He was okay with her just giggling at him in response. It was the type of response he preferred, most of the time. It was a sound that he associated with easy prey, often with women who were too vapid to bring much to the table themselves. It wasn't always the case, and there were some who were actually quite intellectual, quite exciting, but they all still had one thing in common.

They wanted somebody who could control them, somebody to manipulate them. They might have denied it, but it was what they needed, why they kept going back to the same type of men over and over. For some it made them feel safe, to be under that rigid control. For others, it was just that they were so eager to please. At least, that was his experience in the matter. All it really boiled down to was that giggling was okay, because giggling he could work with. He was tired of all of these miss independent I-am-woman-hear-me-roar types. For just a moment, it was great to feel like he was the one running the show again, without any opposition to that fact.

He began to follow her into that dimly lit room, only to halt when she turned on him, holding up a hand and letting out a light laugh of his own. "As much as I wish that was true, I don't think Trynt appreciates being called a dog." And indeed, the wyvern was letting out a low snarl through his head even as he said it.

< A dog? A dog?? She dares to call me nothing more then a mutt? I will destroy her! Attack! >

Trynt it was just meant as a joke. Relax.

"He actually is...or at least, was? A wyvern. A fact that he likes to make abundantly clear as often as possible." He reached up to tap a finger against the side of his hatted head, and smiled some more. "Flame Princess, hey? So misunderstood. Not evil, just passionate."

When she actually tried to mimic fire with her hair though, his smile slipped away. There was no way this girl was over 18. No way in hell.

Coughing into his hand, he began to move further into the room. "All right, lets get you something to eat there darling."

"Oh! I didn't mean to insult him... I was just making a joke like... Obviously your name isn't Finn, but I thought that was the joke so I made another... Really bad one apparently um..."
{ Shuddup shuddup shuddup }
This was going really, really, reeaaaaalllllyyyyy badly. Like some blubbering idiot she was ruining all chances of normal interaction with less than normal people. This wasn't supposed to be a competition of who was weirder, the openly cosplaying adult male or the stupid little girl with pretend flame hair. If it was at all socially possible for Abbi to lay down on the floor and just nope out of her life, she probably would have.
Instead she tried to look cute again, flashing her eyes up at the man and remembering belatedly that whoops she had taken out her contacts so her mysterious eyes were just a dull blue. Maybe they were actually still purpley from the glow of his weapon! There was hope for that, at least.

"A wyvern? Like uh... One of those dragon-y things?" Maybe that wasn't it at all. Maybe Abbi really was just digging her own little grave deeper and deeper into being a social outcast. Did they let cats on the island? Maybe she could be one of those crazy cat girls who dressed cute but were just a little too weird. Like Zooey Deschanel gone too quirky...
"Definitely not evil. I mean,--" Her own nervous laugh interrupts her words. "--Why would I be here if I was evil?"

And just like that, the wall is up. Its more felt than honestly seen, but this wall invokes a different reaction than the one the girl encountered earlier. Instead of indignation when the other man had caught onto her age, now she sighs and accepts her fate. She is too young for this place. She is silly and stupid and cool guys like "Finn" don't want anything to do with that.
"Yeah I'm... Really hungry. Long day."

Finn barked out a laugh. "Not my real name? What makes you so sure of that? Do I look like I would fit another name better?" He was mostly teasing her, but his voice had taken on a rougher edge as he moved closer to where the food could be acquired. There was nobody their to hand it out, but he was sure he could just slip into the kitchen and grab something out of the fridge, providing it wasn't locked up for the night.

Suddenly Trynt's outraged snarls filled his head and he had to actually stop walking just to try and concentrate on soothing his weapon. She didn't call you a dragon, she said dragon-y. Dude, you are dragon-y don't even give me that. Stop getting your tail all in a knot over it.

"Dragon is actually worse then dog." He said to her. "But don't worry about it. He gets riled up about just about anything." and as for the evil comment...

"Exactly. But the flame princess was fairly misunderstood was she not?" He turned back towards her, the glowing runes of his weapon sweeping around with him and illuminating different parts of the room as he did so.

And then he realized she seemed...different. Already he had managed to extinguish the joyful, girlish light she had started out with when first meeting him. He didnt' feel badly about it. In fact, he didn't really feel much of anything except that he needed to be cautious.

"So, you said you were new. Did you just wake up recently? It can be pretty disorienting, from what I remember."

There, he was making light conversation. He wasn't even trying to be insulting for a change.

Uuuuhhhhhhh his name really was Finn? Or was she just totally, wholly missing the joke?
Not sure either way the teen tottered after him, shuffling a little since she was still trying to think at the same time.
"Is your name really Finn? Cause I mean, like... I can't take you seriously with that hat on." Not at all realizing that could have been taken as an insult when she obviously meant it as constructive criticism, Abbi stopped when he did and looked up at him.
A squeak escaped her and she jumped up on her tip toes.
"I insulted him even more?!" Both hands grabbed the ends of her pigtails and pulled down, an obvious display of despair. Insulting Trynt further was the last thing she had wanted, especially given how she didn't know what he was saying about her and couldn't possibly know how to get on his good side.
{ Why's it matter? He ain't gonna be your new friend. }
The girl huffed and looked down at her feet, letting her pigtails go.
"Will you tell him I'm sorry? I don't really... Know what wyverns are... And I'm sorry I didn't think your name was Finn!"

Deciding it was best to stay quiet, she nodded softly when he questioned after the fire princess. Feeling terribly misunderstood, Abbi only pushed back some hair off her shoulder and peeked up to see if she could spy into the fridge. If the lights were off in here, would the appliances like fridges and freezers be off too? What would she eat then? Why hadn't she thought this out better?!
{ Awwww, cheer up wee one. We canna all get it right on our first day. }
That was not really making her feel any better...

"Oh! Ah! Yeah, its uh... Its my first day... I um... I got Viveca and then went to my room and took a nap. I just want a snack before I go back to sleep... I feel really... Confused." Maybe telling a total stranger that wasn't the best of ideas, but Abbi didn't really have any other options at the moment.
Since Finn had been a little nice after being so cold a second ago, the girl unwilted a little.
"What about you? You don't look as new as me..."

Oh no she did not just dis the hat. Actually she really hadn't dissed it, but Finn still leveled a stare at her nevertheless. "I really like this hat. I really like Adventure Time. And yes, my name really is Finn." With a sigh, he reached up to pull his hat off of his had, revealing in it's wake long and glorious blonde hair, very disheveled, multi tonal brown hair that some how looked stylish even though he'd probably cringe if he looked in the mirror.

"Finn Connor." He said, pressing his lips together now, and fighting the temptation to pull the hat back over his head by instead tucking as much of it as he could into a back pocket of his jeans. As for apologies to his weapon went... "I can, but I shouldn't bother. He'll just get offended again over something else you do. Don't worry though, he does it to everyone."

God she had that cute and innocent act down so hard it actually made Finn soften a bit in response. "Okay actually it's fine, he says mistakes happen. Weird, he actually seems to be okay now. He must like you." There, surely that would get her to stop looking so distressed.

< Lies! Lies! How dare you! I do not like her, or you, or anybody. >

Ya well, too bad you won't get a chance to tell her that yourself now, isn't it? He actually smirked as he thought the words, which might have looked a bit strange to Abbi if she was paying attention to his face all that closely.

Going behind the counters to open up doors and rummage around, it occurred to Finn that the MRE's weren't likely to need to be stored in the fridge, and instead just started opening cupboards until he found them.

"Nope, not new. I'm still a trainee, but been here just about two months now I guess." Aha! There they were. Disgusting...but he was a little hungry. Smoking could only take the edge off of needing to eat for so long.

"Well, I can't say that you came at a great time." He pulled two of the packages out, and then turned back towards her, tossing one in her general direction.

"Enjoy."

Mild disdain at herself for messing up a so far-so good social interaction turned to mild surprise when the hat was pulled off, but settled into contentment. His hair was so cute! But in the cute boy way, not the awww how adorable way. Though, it was kind of adorable to see it so scattered and messed up, somehow charming in its disarray.
"Oh! I'm really sorry then Finn Connor!" Abbi stifled a laugh at herself and the fact that his last name was Connor. So Terminator.
To find out that Trynt was not the type to like many people made the girl wilt a little, but not much. It wasn't the first time someone had proclaimed to dislike her, but at least Finn had softened the blow of his weapon's dismissal by adding that it was a common occurrence. The ghost in Abbi's head was happy to remind her that Finn's weapon was once a nasty beastie, but that didn't really help the whole not being liked thing.
Yet a moment later the words were being recanted and with growing excitement, Abbi lifted her head to show Finn the slow bloom of her smile.
"Really? Aw, that's fantastic!" Both her hands clasped under her chin and she let out a little giggle. Maybe coming to Deus wasn't such a bad idea after all!

Unaware of the odd smirk from the man, or totally ignoring it because he just looked like the kind of guy who would go around smirking about things, Abbi stayed relatively still as he wandered around looking for food. Being a young girl was some left over energy from her nap she shifted from foot to foot, her hands worrying the edge of her skirt as she watched him.
"Two months, wooooow. That's really cool though! Do things get easier?" That was an honest question, one backed up with a curious look. "What all places are there to see around here? What can I do tomorrow? What should I do? Is there like... A handbook or something?"

So caught up in her questions, she was momentarily caught off guard by his reply. What was more startling was to be the recipient of a package being thrown, the thing hardly caught. Abbi lunged for the square package only to miss and flail another hand under its potential trajectory. She overshot it and flipped the package mid air, fumbled with it and finally ended up partially squatting, the MRE pressed against her stomach.
"What... What is this?" Did food always come in such weird little things like plastic around here? How weird?
