He had to get faster, stronger, more accurate, better.
Al swung Nuru hard against a dummy with a soft pfft sound. He swung him again and again. Ever since Jordan enlightened him on where exactly he was... well. He was painfully behind and he knew it. Painfully.

"Your technique is awful." Candace called out helpfully as she approached the boy going apeshit on a dummy. She had decided to take some time to train with Atropos since she had nothing else to do except patrol, bug Mists, and clean up where there were messes.
She dropped her bag on the ground and stretched her arms over her head, dropping them down and staying out of hitting distance just in case. "Angry?"

Al nearly leapt out of his skin at the sudden intrusion and spun around to see who it was. "That's why I'm-" He stopped to stare. He blinked a few times. He furrowed his brow and immediately turned his back and resumed practice.

Well that was weird. Candace frowned and finally stepped up to stand by the boy, reaching a hand out to catch the staff if it came too close to hitting her. "I can help, if you want. It's kind of my job." For Mists, but she could help other divisions. "I know how to swing a scythe, I can probably swing a staff."

Al wasn't looking so did not realize when Candace came into range and - he tugged feebly at Nuru to try and free him. He glanced over his shoulder at her irritably, "Don't touch my weapon." His eyes wandered a bit downward before abruptly looking away again and attempting to tug some more.

She let go when he told her to, raising a brow when she caught the way his eyes wandered. "I was just stopping it from hitting me. I don't usually touching weapons. Bad history."
Why had he..looked away like that? Candace moved to his other side where she wouldn't be hit accidentally. "I can help, you know."

Nope Candace, he didn't hear you. Al resumed smacking the dummy around like a pinata.

Whack. Whack. Whack. Candace flinched every time he just smacked it. He wasn't doing that correctly at all, he was going to pull something, or lose his grip on the weapon and send it flying.
"In a battle this wouldn't be very efficient, you know," Candace said loud enough to be heard over the whacking. "Is there a reason you're being rude?"

"You know the rules," Al said distantly as he continued just beating the crap out of the dummy and poor Nuru at the same time. His annoyance with this situation was starting to show in his swings.

...The rules? Candace raised a brow. "Refresh my memory. What are 'the rules'?"

"I'm no allowed to talk to you," Okay that was the last time Al mentally swore as he cracked the dummy in the head with Nuru's face. Hey, watch et.

What the hell? Who said he wasn't--
..Oh.
Confusion became a smug little smile that was almost feline. This was Al. Precious. Candace gave a low chuckle as she moved to stand behind Al. "And why is that, Al? I know it's because Rep told you but I've always wondered why. Did I do something wrong?" She put her hands on his shoulders and leaned in close. "You're going to damage your weapon if you keep doing that. Relax, Al."

Al was doing a good job ignoring her until she touched him and he spun very quickly to try and get away with just a sound of flustered annoyance. He went right back to whacking at the dummy as if she hadn;t just done that.

Heh.
Candace watched as he fled from her, smirking lazily and following Al with slow steps. This was fun. "Try putting your whole body into the swing, don't just whack at it like a pinata at a child's birthday party."

Nope. Not listening. Al kept whacking at it exactly the same as before.
