There was a lot of confusion going on in Zippy's world, lately. Things about corrupt senshi and regular senshi and youma and old junior high friends becoming youma and the like.

He wasn't quite sure how to process the onslaught of unwanted information, so he mostly skulked around with his face forced into an uninteresting and uninterested expression, his mouth forming a straight and unhappy line.

Even the civilian laying in a slump at his feet brought no change to this boring captain.

He'd gone hunting but he was never good at confronting prey and getting out cleanly. This was a lesson that was never really covered, but since most of his mentoring came from Painite back in the day it was also understandable this was his weakest area.

In an attempt to stealthily drain the passerby he had managed to get as far as the approaching unseen part, but he botched the energy drain and ended up stopping his target with a hard smack to the head with the weighted end of his staff.

The man was still shallowly breathing, but with blood gushing from the head wound he probably wouldn't be for long.

Zippeite reached down and took his starseed, pondering on how messy patrols were.

Or was that just him?

He had been watching from the sidelines for a few minutes now observing. He had been intrigued by the whole thing, having experienced a similar situation only a few days prior. It had been a mess really, completely different than the standards he usual held himself to. Still, he had been drawn to the mirroring situation like a vulture to a carcass.

"It's always worse when they resist, don't you think?" He clucked, stepping out from his hiding spot and strolling towards the boy. His hands were folded behind his head and the hood he normally wore, pulled down around his neck. The pink in his hair stood out in contrast to the black.

"Energy draining gone wrong?" He asked, amber eyes cast down towards the body. The blood was still pooling beneath his head, but his body grew cold. He had a flash back to his own botched attempt. There had been more blood. Much more. "Blood's a messy thing, dontcha think?" He clucked his tongue. "Especially when shed unnecessarily," he sighed.

"I know we're not supposed to butcher the cattle," Zippeite said, almost defensively. Starseeds were valuable, yes, but it has also been imparted on him very specifically that a dead civilian produced more energy, and you couldn't go back for more if you outright killed them.

"But some of them are just friggin impossible."

With actually knowledgeable ease in how to move it, he flipped his weighted staff around and holstered it in it's place at his back. "I'm not really a fan of blood," He admitted. Not that he had a problem with causing deaths, but blood was gross and messy and full of biological hazards.

"My weapon is blunt and heavy, thank god, so it's usually just internal breakage as long as the meat sack doesn't break, I can't imagine dealing with something that cuts."

Oh god, that would be so gross.

"They they didn't put up a fuss, they'd live longer," he replied, agreeing. While they could claim self defense, both captain's knew they always had the upper hand on those silly civilians. They were stronger, faster and had more wit about them, depending on the target and situation. He had only encountered one civilian with the capability of holding their own, Don Diablos and at the time he had the magical properties of a rainbow crystal on his side.

"Blood paints a story," he countered, shrugging. "Sends a message, if you want." He had shed blood plenty of times, the perks of having and unusual bladed weapon. "Blades aren't as bad as you may think," he continued, choosing then to summon his pink handled scythe. "It can be fun watching them react when you slice them open." A bit morbid, but Labyrinthite had long come to accept that death and murder no longer phased him.

He brought the blade towards his face and touched it gingerly with his other hand. The curved blade gleamed in the lamplight.

"Plus, if they get away, you've left a mark." He was no longer talking about civilians but the plague they continued to battle.

Zippeite watched the unusual weapon move with endless curiosity. He enjoyed weapons with flair, or at least strange designs to mundane things instead of the same old spear over and over again. He thought the flamingo scythe even upped his glowstick staff. And he loved his glowstick.

"Blood might have a striking visual effect," He admitted, but kept the 'but it's so gross and full of disease and pathogens' to himself. No one needed to know he was that neurotic. Death was fine, he just didn't want to catch anything you might be carrying, thank you very much.

He had to laugh a little at leaving marks. "There's more than one way to leave a mark."

He pulled his staff back up from his back with easy movement. A childhood of unwanted, generic 'karate' classes left him with at least an ingrained technique for his weapon type. He let the more weighted end drop on the pavement with a heavy thud. "This leaves marks. They might not show up immediately, or seem insignificant at first, but that's fine. I guess my style really isn't meant for coming out of the shadows too often to put on a show anyway."

And it was true. His weapon was slow and cumbersome and using it at all took so flair. If it hit, it could do some serious damage, but that was a big if given it's weight and size. Zippeite himself was more suited to intelligence gathering than brawling.

A little frown managed across his face. "They get away more often than I'd like, though." The fact the likes of Irene and Nickeline were still probably out walking around caused more anger than was probably healthy for him.

Laby shrugged, moving the blade from his face. He twirled it in a slow circle, hand sliding down to the base of the shaft. He let the head of the flamingo clack against the ground while he dangled it from the gold chain. He wished it were longer, so he rest his weight against it but this would do, for now. "Bruises fade," he remarked, the words coming out in a sigh. While the staff was good for breaking bones and leaving bruises Labyrinthite would always prefer the blade of his scythe. "But scars are much more permanent." His gaze flickered down, to his covered ankle.

He never forgave Iris for the mark she left on him when he was ordinary.

Just like Nysa wouldn't be quick for forgive him for the mark he left.

"Don't you hate it when the escape?" He clucked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. He had a few slip through his fingers; Denebola, Vulcan, and Iris. Particularly Iris. She would continue to escape as long as the power difference remained between them, or he figured out some other trick to use. He would get her. One day. "Or they survive, that's more annoying." He wrinkled his nose. He never expected Iris to make it out of that fight alive. He should have finished the job.

"Don't start what you can't finish," he warned. He would finish it, one way or another. "Though those pests always seem to have another one nearby to sweep in and rescue them." His expression twisted in disgust.

"To each his own. I guess I've always just been fascinated by the mechanics of internal hemorrhage," Zippeite said honestly with a bit of a shrug. And then added with a light chuckle, "I'm also a bit of a clean freak. I admit it."

Blood borne pathogens no thank you.

And then his little frown came back. "Or they're on your own side. The handlers seem to be slacking with the silver haired one." He didn't have much experience with corrupted senshi, but he wasn't was fan of the little he did have.

"But I guess at least those have handlers. The rest might as well be a pack of feral dogs," He kicked a small pebble to avoid the conversation from going into any admissions he hadn't had too many successful fights with the White Moon. At least not any that ended in death, which was unfortunate and the only thing that really counted as a 'win' for him.

"Fair enough," he replied with a curt nod. He really should have cared a little bit about what diseases those people might carry and spread, but sometimes he was far too fascinated with the bloodshed to care, and by sometimes he meant most of the time. "It is hell to clean off." Blood was sticky and liked to cake and cling to places it had no business being.

"I don't think I know of that one," he said, face contorting in thought. He never saw Nickeline. "I've had my share of corrupts," he mentioned, shrugging. Alkaid, Eos, Typhon and Ate. "Though I was only the handler of one." He apparently liked to collect them. "Things would be better if they just got off our planet."

He never hid his disdain for the White Moon. He could care less for the Dark Mirror Court, especially given their origins. As far as he was concerned, senshi were only good if they were in the negaverse and even then...he could do with or without. "It's worse when they do have a pack." He meant team. "Especially if they're actually coordinated." He shook his head in disgust.

"I can hold my own in a fight, but even the most talented fighters fare poorly when outnumbered," he sighed. Things would be better once he could establish some sort of team.

"To be honest," Zippeite's expression shifted a little. "I go out of my way to avoid them. I've only met two, that one and Acanthite." He shook his head a little. "Acanthite was was... I don't know. Well behaved? I just never really knew how to reconcile them with everything I was brought on with. My corrupting general said it was our mission to wipe them out, and then it's never that simple, is it?"

There were always too many politics.

"Wipe them out. But not these, they're ours. And then this court is our ally. But now they're not. And who the ******** knows anymore."

Well, he did, but he didn't go around bragging he kicked Virtus in the face, and then several more places, while they were still supposedly allied with the Dark Mirror Court.

"...Do you know the names?" Outnumbered sucked, but that was why Zippy was a creeper before he ran in with the attacking. He liked to know what was up to specifically avoid being cornered, because he still wasn't too much of a physical powerhouse and was only effective in very specific circumstances, which was why he also ended up fleeing more often than he liked.

But intel could be interesting, if he found out more about this specific pack.

"They're a nice psychological trick to use against White Moon senshi," he remarked with a shrug. He had seen how corrupt senshi unnerved the white moon. "War isn't just physical but psychological too." He had seen the toll that war took upon the participants, himself included but he continued to push forward. It was easier to block out the bad when you distracted yourself and he did just that. With fighting and hunting.

"I prefer to destroy them than turn them but," he paused trying to remember the information he had gathered more recently. "I think, that by bringing them to our side we eliminate the possibility of them being reborn." He was still a bit hazy about the whole thing but he had heard inklings of the idea of multiple lives when starseeds were recycled into the cauldron. "I think." He wasn't entirely sure.

"The Dark Mirror Court should have never been an ally," he stated harshly. He had no love for the mirror-walkers. They were led by a princess who stemmed from a team hell-bent on destroying the negaverse. He had not forgotten how multiple soldiers were kidnapped and tortured for days. Many had not recovered properly and as such, he would never forgive the Blood Moon Court or the Dark Mirror Court. "They were a liability from the start," he hissed, gaze darkening. "It's a miracle they hadn't turned on us earlier, the wraith issue was perhaps a blessing in disguise to rid us of any "loyalty" we were expected to have towards them."

He followed the alliance because he had to, because it had been the will of Metallia and he had seen how those who opposed had suffered. He was no fool.

"I haven't seen too many in action as a pack, with the exception of the full blown wars but the Zodiacs." He remembered the surrounding. He had worked so hard to unearth the Great Youma from the depths of the Rift. "And Eternal Sailor Iris. I swear, she is everywhere or has allies everywhere." Damn that Chibi who saved her.

"They can be reborn?!" Zippeite's voice audibly cracked as he sputtered that out. Oh god that was gross and weird. And the thought of some dead senshi coming back for revenge, maybe with their skull caved in, made his stomach do a backflip.

"What?! How? Do they regenerate like aliens or--" Well that silly, considering the senshi were ******** alien invaders.

"Oh god," His expression was twisted with disgust as his mind raced ahead of an explanation with all sorts of horrible assumptions. Ew, ew, ew, ew.

It was enough of a distraction to keep him from agreeing in a circle with the other captain's sentiments on the dark mirror court. Zippeite had been around for the effects of Operation Rota and as a result had followed the alliance with dragging feet. He only followed in the sense he didn't actively resist, unless one of them was unfortunate enough to be made his punching bag like poor Virtus.

"I haven't honestly seen any in a pack either. I was part of a summer camp operation and they seemed more scattered and disorganized even when a bunch of them were in the same physical proximity. Pretty sad." He rolled his shoulders at the unfamiliar names. They meant nothing to him for now, but he filed them away for later. "Most seem more interested in talking, and trying to play convincing voices of reason. Though I guess that's the psychological aspect mentioned earlier in it's own way." Man, he did not like talky talky politics.

Laby nodded, face grim. "Unfortunately. The only way to prevent that is to sever their bonds," he paused because his thoughts drifted to the blonde with dreads (who he hated thinking about, but corrupted senshi always made him think of her) and he had to shake himself out of it. "Is to bring them to our side." His memory flashed him an image of the girl's pale skin, cracked and the orange seeping from the breaks. He inhaled sharply, focusing his attention back on the other captain. "But it is easier to slaughter them," he chuckled darkly. "More fun too."

He contemplated the question briefly, then shrugged. "Can't say, haven't witnessed it personally but I think it has to do with that translucent Moon Queen that keeps showing up at the most inconvenient times." Stupid Moon Queen, thwarting their plans just as victory was within reach.

"That's because they have no structure," he stated, agreeing. "None of them know how to work together or take orders," he shook his head in disgust. "All of them want the spotlight but their sheer numbers keeps them all from being obliterated." The numbers are what kept them in the bloody stalemate.

"Pacifists have no place in a war," he snarled at the idea of idly chitchat with the enemy. "If you aren't prepared to shed blood then what is the point?"

"Their bonds to... whatever's out there? Powering them in space?" Zippeite mused, in vague awe of the more experienced captain's knowledge of the subject. He had never really thought about what powered the magical abilities of the senshi or hell, even his own. And if he did, he would probably attribute it to something similar to Metallia and Chaos. Some otherworldly thing like the sort which helped them fight it off.

His body language conveyed that he clearly agreed with Laby's observations, but he couldn't help but sigh at the overwhelming state of affairs. "It's not a land war to them. It's just another place to overrun."

Even if they had been born here like so many of them claimed, it didn't change the fact that they had space. Places out in the vast reaches where humans didn't tread. This was new territory for them that was necessary to their survival, but it wasn't as important as the people who belonged here. This was their home, and they had no where else to go, and Zippeite wasn't about to give it up because they had already wasted their own resources.

"It's just exhausting, I guess," He said, his shoulders slumping a bit. "I.. think I'm done for the night. I'll see you around," He said, lifting his hand as he turned to go.

"Yeah, I'm still working on gather more intel on that," he replied, shrugging. While he was part of spec-ops, Labyrinthite was smart enough to know that you needed to do recon before embarking on any sort of mission. Having more information on the target meant a higher success rate and he aimed to succeed. "Trick is finding someone who will talk." He wasn't too keen on torturing for information so he hoped to find someone with knowledge that he could scare it out of.

Harder said than done.

"Exactly," he agreed. To senshi, the Earth was nothing but another place to conquer and ruin while they attempted, poorly, to rebuild their own homes with Earth's resources. They would not succeed. He would not let them.

The Negaverse would not allow it, they were Earth's protectors.

"War does take a turmoil on it's participants," he commented thoughtfully, stepping back as Zippeite stated his desire to retire for the night. "Of course," he mumbled turning to walk towards the nearest building and climb it. He paused, hesitating and looked back. "If you ever need me, do not hesitate to call."

With that he had sprung up into the air and returned to his rooftops, quickly disappearing from sight.
