Ariane and Eva would, post them submitting their request for a full Hunter promotion receive a text of the following nature:11 what? 11 weapons? 11 Hunters? 11 hoops to jump through? 11 dead bodies?Text from Caelius am, in which you will meet me in this office in which I reside, for there are many dark things of which I must discuss with you of the greatest matter, but you are not worth- This still did not clarify anything at all.Text from Caelius Just come to Caelius's office at 11am. We're doing your promo. And now he was addressing himself in third person and plural. Clerise might have lost their head, but there was only one person who seemed to have lost their mind.

She had signed up for promotion knowing full well that there was a high possibility of Caelius overseeing the task. As much as she would have liked to avoid the Death division head, it seemed like a shame to skip out on a potential promotion just because she didn't want to see him. She knew better than to act out too--shortly after she had told Otto that she had (finally) handed in her request, the blond had firmly sat her down to fuss over her and give her some much-needed advice.
Don't sass him. Don't speak back--no, better yet, don't speak at all unless addressed. Probably shouldn't even look at him either, lest you stare at him funny, and--
She would have been lying if she said she wasn't the least bit alarmed when she received the text from Caelius, but upon opening it, she found her apprehension replaced by confusion. Wow, had he accidentally hit the send button before he finished the text?
Maybe Caelius was human after all.
Or not. By the second text, she was beginning to doubt that the person sending her these messages was really her stick in the mud superior. The final text sealed the deal, because unless he had somehow found a way to multiply (god forbid) or decided to pick up using the royal "we", then it was obvious that she was dealing with someone else.
Which was, of course, fine with her. Throwing on her coat, she made sure to prep herself as best as she could before heading down at the appointed time.

Ariane didn't expect to receive a message - or rather, several messages - regarding her promotion so soon, especially given the island's current state of affairs. There must be 101 other things for the superiors to attend to, so it was surprising to see that the message was from Caelius himself.
The first message confused her, and she was starting to wonder if deciphering a text message before a promotion mission was a thing when she received another message. And then another. The subsequent messages were just really amusing, and unless he had developed a split personality while she wasn't looking, those texts were probably not from Caelius.
They were just sent from his phone.
At the stipulated time, she arrived at his office, spotting a familiar face there with her... Could Eva be here for the same reason? Ariane wanted to ask, but she's probably going to find out soon enough... Well, as soon as they figure out who not-Caelius is.

"Give me that.-"
- The half open door to the Death lead's office revealed two people fighting over a cell phone in an office that had honestly seen better days, now covered in literally columns, long stacks of files, papers, wires, and randomly strewn half-operating Runic devices, weapons, and artifacts. Well, technically the two were not so much fighting as more in a short black-haired woman beating the Death assistant to a pulp as she took the cell phone far, far away from Mark's grasp. "'There are many dark things?' He wouldn't say something like that, are you kidding me."
Mark crossed his arms and sulked in his chair, defeated. "For the record, I am like, an experienced roleplayer in my forum, people pay to like, read my stuff okay. I'm a GM and stuff. You just don't appreciate quality writing, you have to set the mood and like, the tone, and then establish the character-"
- "... and ignoring you for the next five minutes." The shorter Death Hunter, Sam, began to slowly and very carefully correct as many texts as she could, eyebrows furrowed in intense concentration. Any mistake, and it could be their-
- "Huh." She looked up, finally noticing Ariane and Eva. She frowned. "Can I help you?"

Eva's face lit up with a smile. "Oh, Ariane! And--"
--And, er...voices. Casting the other girl a curious look, Eva tentatively pushed the half-open door with her foot and let it swing open, her expression growing stunned as the mess of the office was revealed to them. Geez, was this really Caelius'? Because wow, either he had really let himself go...
Or maybe it wasn't his doing. Whatever the case, nitpicking wasn't why she was here. She stood by patiently as the two hunters bickered, perking up only when the shorter of the pair finally acknowledged their presence. Lips quirking upwards into a smile, Eva held up her cellphone and lifted her brows.
"Well, uh...you called? About the promo, I mean."Zoobey /whisper would you prefer us to quote you after we tag

"Good to see you again," She returned the greeting with a nod of her head before narrowing her eyes at the door; there were voices coming from behind it, but she doubted that Caelius was arguing with himself. When Eva pushed the half-open door open, Ariane stared. And stared.
Not-Caelius was apparently two people.
"What she said," Ariane answered once their presence was acknowledged. Briefly, she turned her head in Eva's direction, raising an eyebrow at her in a what did we just walk into manner; whatever happened to Caelius' office? Holding up her phone, she held it up, displaying the latest message on it, "Someone sent a text regarding talking to us about many dark things of the greatest matter, and there's also something about our promo?"Zoobey /whispers because we are doing that now

"Those things of darkest matter-" Mark sat up a little straighter, looking proud of himself, "Well, young padawans, I, Mark the-"
-"Oh please, it's just a promotion mission." Sam looked up from the weapons tablet she was examining in one hand, waggling it as she talked. "I didn't even know we could do promotion missions when Deus is under emergency lockdown, but apparently you can and apparently number two, emergency lockdown is a lot more boring than the words suggest. So yes, the big boss is not here, we are bored out of our skulls, and this office is a walking disaster. You really are here for our entertainment." She gave a smug smile, and the dropped the weapons tablet into a pile with the rest, coming up with a clipboard. "On this clipboard is a list of tasks, each one should be completed, ticked off, and oh, you have until the end of the day. Let's say, hmm... six pm?"
"You included polishing my action figures on the list right?" Chimed in Mark. "And like, finding Hulk Junior?"
"Oh yes," Sam replied sarcastically while handing Ariane and Eva clipboards, "Those are definitely on the list because that is what Death Hunters do, polish action figures that you have probably contaminated-"
"-Hey!"
The two started squabbling again, but thankfully the clipboards were handed over with relative ease. It was indeed, a list of chores."OOC: Ariane and Eva's list of chores With Deus down, it seems there's no end of things that need to be accomplished, so while a dangerous and risque promotion mission may have been great for them, maybe it was better to just get things done. Ariane and Eva (either together or separately each doing some of them) must go and accomplish these tasks. Some require not much work - check the OOC on how to do it - and some require a little bit more effort. When done, come post back in this thread. 1) Check the Deus perimeter for any remaining weapons tablets. (This requires a solo or PRP around the beach area just to check. Roll 1d10 3 times in this solo/ PRP. If you roll a 8 or higher you have found a tablet. Once done, check it off your list) - only one of you has to do it you can decide whom 2) Check the Jungle portal. (This requires a solo or PRP in the jungle portal area. The portal itself is down, but there's a lot of creepy crawlies that remain. Roll 2d10 3 times in this solo/ PRP. This is the amount of damage you take from nasties while surveying. - only one of you has to do it you can decide whom 3) Check ground zero for any remaining clues. Ask people where they were during the entire Excalibur and Merlin meltdown situation. (This requires a solo or PRP in the HQ area. You will need to find 3 Hunters to investigate each, ask them this question and write a response. Also gauge how suspicious they are, since this is the way of doing it ) - both need to complete this!

Ariane left with the clipboard the moment it was handed over, grabbing Eva's arm as she made for the door; being live entertainment was better than what she had to do for her first promotion mission, which involved smelling like reindeer s**t for a week. Once they were outside, and away from the weird duo, she looked at the checklist.
"Do you have a preference as to which task you want to do?" She asked, propping one hand on her waist, "If not, I'll do task one, you can do task two, and we can meet up at the cafeteria to do the last task together... To make sure we don't end up investigating the same three hunters. Does that sound good to you?"

Blinking as Ariane took her arm, Eva lifted a hand and offered the pair a smile as she docilely allowed herself to get dragged out. No use in lingering around longer than was necessary, that much was obvious.
She stopped walking only when the other girl did, offering her a wide grin as she leaned over to scan the tasks that had been laid out on the clipboard. Hmm...certainly some interesting tasks to be sure. At the very least, they sounded more reasonable than her first promotion mission had been (...which had involved nearly being buried alive in sand, but Caelius had been in charge of that mission so...)
"Sounds cool with me! I'll start task two right now then, and see you in...say an hour or two?"
With their tasks divided and planned out, she set off to check out the Jungle portal.
