How long had it been since he had seen the sun proper? He couldn't recall in his time on the island, the Insanity Fog that was lingering overhead had long blotted out the sun and had made the island a dark dark place till the recent events with the tare and loss of Excalibur and Merlin.

More importantly shields where down, power was gone, projects where put on hold and portals where entirely shut down. Back up generators where being put in place but Runic energy only had so much power compared to the islands original sources.

Tucking his phone away he moved to grab another part, hauling the pieces of a solar generator together. Or well, what he hoped would be one. The island had a distinct lack of solar panels due to the foggy nature but he was sure they could find something to rig up to make it better. Hopefully Stormy would be along to help.

Considering the amount of work to do on the Island now that most of their privileges were either wrenched from them or a hazard to do, Stormy didn't take long to get there. Frankly, while on the outside she looked as dreamy as ever, on the inside she was a little afraid. This was the most vulnerable she had ever seen Deus at, and the deaths of two hunters (one at Caelius's hand, the gossip said) rattled her and reminded her of their mortality--talking weapons or not.

Wiping at her brow, she waved to Roland as she approached; thank God she chose to cut her hair this short, or else the heat would be killing her like poor Nevada. "Heya~ Working hard or hardly working?" she greeted him, glancing at the solar generator panels.

Oh boy.

Roland had done good to avoid most of the talk of the two dead hunters. Word had gotten out on twitter and he had for the most part, decided to avoid it best he could. He didn't know them personally, he knew one was a division assistant and word was dating the other.

Caelius was rumored to be behind the later hunters passing. This however didn' shock him too much considering the number of warning to avoid the Death Lead had been given to him.

Hauling out another long thick cord, something looking more like a pipe then a cable he started dragging it to the bulk of a generator looking up to Stormy. His own hair was pulled back in a simple pony tail while he worked.

"Always working. More so now then ever. Do me a favor find the other end this thing plugs into will you?"

"Yessir~" With two fingers to her temple in a salute, Stormy skittered around him and investigated. After a moment she gestured Roland to come over and try a particular port.

"You look like you're holding up well," she observed with no attempt to hide her relief. "Been okay since the Tear thing and the . . . latest incident?" It was hard to be delicate when it was still fresh in her mind. "Makes me glad Caelius isn't our leader."

Roland hefted the cord dragging it along towards the side she had indicated. Once there he looked at the port and the plug twisting it about a bit before jamming it in. Grabbing a wrench he started to tighten a few bolts to clamp the plug in place proper.

Once done he started going over a series of papers trying to find instruction on what to do next. "I uh... well I didn't have to deal too much with the Tear." He rubbed the back of his neck, how to say he wasn't there, that he was trapped in the ever shifting reality of their world and its own chaos?

"The other thing though." He frowned, "I've only read about it on twitter, I haven't spoken to anyone about it nor did I exactly know the people involved..." He looked at Stormy nodding though, "Yeah. Aria is." He paused, "A lot more forgiving I guess."

Feeling a little silly just standing idly by, Stormy sidled up to the side of Roland to try and read some of the instructions herself. "In a way you were pretty lucky," she said with a look of concentration, studying the diagram. "Lot of stuff went down and messed a few of us up . . ."

Nevada being one of them. She was hesitating on whether to let Roland know, and if so how.

"Miss Aria watches over us like a hawk," Stormy stated with a smile and a bob of her head, stepping back to try and locate one of the colored wires from the manual to plug in. "She stood up for me at our promo--Nevada and me, I mean. But um, about the Tear stuff . . ."

More hesitating. She fished what she hoped was the correct wire and got on her knees to look for the plug. "Have you guys talked since we got back? Er, Nevada again, sorry, that's who I mean."

Roland was polite with his notes offering a few sheets to the side to make it easier for Stormy to read. His own finger tracing a few lines before looking at her again. "I dun know, not helping seems a bit of a crime in its own right you know."

Roland could only frown at his fellow mist, she seemed worried about something.

"Like a hawk indeed. You know Candace once was helping me with some issues, I had smashed a desk in half and Aria made me repair the whole thing." He chuckled, "I finished my promo so quickly she thought I cheated and tampered with my time device. It was to steal an Ikea desk she had left the money for." Checking the wire he gave her a thumbs up before moving to check a few meters to see if they where ready to test the generator on its own.

"You mean Nevada?" He shrugged a bit, "We umm spoke after she woke up, but not since I don't. I don't know where we stand. It's like everythings backwards now. She was so worried about being second place and now I'm the one who feels tossed out."

Wire in place and double checked by Roland, she moved to the next plug. "IKEA? Man, that sounded like an easy promo!" Stormy noted with a small laugh. "I got almost killed in mine. Again. And I still don't know what we got for Mark." Although by the time they had finished, she didn't really care because intermediates.

Nodding at Roland's answer, she chewed the inside of her lip and sifted through the mass of cords until she found the correct one. "At least you guys talked . . . But, um." Stormy turned to look at him, brows knitted. "Something happened when we were leaving the Tear. I think that's why some people are acting so strangely--some of us lost a few memories," she explained as gently as possible to help ease into the lead in. "And, ah, apparently you could forget whole people to . . . That's what happened to Nevada."

For the most part the wires where in-place everything was locked in, it was just a matter of getting a power source for the generator. For now gas and oil was all they had and even that was limited, and runes only put out so much. The solar powered panels where something they would need to find or get sent to the island some how. "The first promotion is all kinds of hit or miss, from here out the missions all seem a lot more serious."

Nodding at the cord she selected he gave her a thumbs up to finish plugging it in. All temporary fixes for a much bigger problem. "Yeah. That last talk was mostly my bad I think. She was trying to be nice, to forget, but I was hurting over it. She left for a day vacation without me afterwards." He started to clean up the manuals and spare parts putting them away before looking up as Stormy continued to explain what was probably causing her to be so hesitant.

"So... I'm guessing she forgot me which is why you're telling me this." A hand moved to run through his hair tugging the few strands hanging in his face away as he looked up at the clouds.

"I guess I should be upset, or shocked. I don't know what I should feel about that... what it says about her or me for that matter."

A lot more serious, huh? She hoped she would be ready then . . . especially considering how dire their situation was already.

Stormy said nothing about the aftermath of that last talk, as she felt it wasn't her place to. Not when there was a more pressing matter. "Mmm," she affirmed with a grim look, watching Roland look to the skies for answers. "I don't know what to tell you either. Excalibur asked us to give up our memories to save the world, but . . . This feels different. I don't think she did it on purpose, though."

At least, she believed so.

"I wanted to let you know before you and she crossed paths," Stormy went on to say gently, "to try and lessen the eventual awkwardness. I let her know she forgot you in turn, so . . . I guess you could think of this as being a way to make a new start?"

Roland continued watching the blue sky, it was a nice shade of blue, one he hadn't seen in far too long thanks to all the fog. One that was perverted and twisted by the Tear when it had invaded. Now it was normal, almost nice, minus the power, and all the chaos.

"I wasn't there, I didn't see, or I saw thing, but not the same things. I can't describe it." He shrugged at the last part unsure of what to say, the idea of Nevada giving it all up.

He wouldn't blame her if she did.

"A new start? For her, not me, I still remember, and you do too, so does Tuck, everyone. I don't know what it will mean." He looked down from the sky to Stormy again worried looks crossing his face, "I don't know what any of it will turn out like and that's..." he only shrugged.

Stormy didn't know what to say for a moment. It was an awkward situation, because Nevada forgetting didn't mean it never happened. She still remembered how many tears her bestie had shed and how often they had talked about it, even in passing . . . That wasn't something she could simply tuck away.

But perhaps they all would have to regardless.

"Scary," she finished for him, returning his concerned look. "Yeah, I know . . ." Hesitating, she reached out to touch Roland's shoulder. "Maybe it's not a new start for us, but it's a chance to let go all the same. I'm not saying you have to forgive her--I can't make you do anything you don't want to--but if there's a time to move on, I'd say now is a good one."

Her hand slid off. "She's . . . happier now, Roland. She doesn't remember, so she's not weighed down by guilt; I'm not going to take that away from her, even if how it happened is sketchy," Stormy said simply. "And maybe that's wrong too, I don't know. But I'm her best friend, and that's what best friends do: they support their besties. I, uh . . . I know we're not super close or anything, but I hope you know I'll support you too," she added with a weak smile. "Whatever happens. Nevada forgot, but that means you get a fresh start too. Maybe a happier one."

Slowly Roland went about cleaning up, there was little more he could do right now till he got his hands on a pannel. Odds are he wasn't about to find one here on the island any time soon.

"Yeah. Scary." Her choice of words was quiet accurate in this case, he stopped in the middle of his cleaning looking towards Stormy for a moment. "That's fine, I guess, it solves some problems but it leads to a few new ones. We can't be sure what else she might not recall, and what if she does suddenly remember?" He stood up a bit straighter again rubbing the back of his neck, "I wanted to forgive her, I thought I did, and then she just... went off again. Away. And now she doesn't remember so what's there to forgive if she doesn't remember the problem to start?"

Roland stood by listening as she explained about her happiness, that things where better for Nevada this way and how things had ended previously, well it was a change of pace she needed. Though a bit of guilt lingered, she remembered Tuck, but not him? It was very, selective, and it made the echos of being abandoned come back just as bad.

"I wouldn't us happier to describe this right now really. No, but it is a new start."

As much as she defended Nevada, Stormy did feel awful for him. Her expression twisted into a sympathetic grimace. "I'm sorry," she said softly, belatedly feeling weird just standing there and watching him work. She started to pick up a few pieces of scrap off the ground to clear Roland's space. "I guess it's one of those 'when life gives you lemons' situations . . ." It wasn't comforting, but it was what it was.

"If she remembers, then she remembers and we deal with it then," she said simply. "But I'm not gonna worry about what ifs right now. Makes you overthink too much, which clinically makes you more prone to depression!" Resolute, she set the spare parts to the side and endeavored to clear the floor. "My advice is to focus on what we do have, a little at a time. Like this solar panel stuff! After this, I dunno about you, but I'm gonna work some more on the Mist training Ms. C left behind."

"I would prefer life did give me lemons. Lemonade would be nice right now..." The joke was quiet and a bit out of place from him, he was trying not to feel so miserable, to look the part of some rejected pet moping about the island.

"Yeah then." He finished the cleaning, most of it done when Stormy jumped in. He didn't stop her or complain he just finished putting tools and guides away looking at the generator for a moment before back to Stormy. "Sometimes I think this job is all about trying to make us depressed. I dun know. Not exactly the happiest job in the world."

Patting the last of the generator he looked at Stormy raising an eyebrow, "Candace? What did she leave us?"
