So she had a lock. Okay then. At least it was fashionable and looked super cute if she discounted the fact that she couldn't take it off her neck. At least it had turned into an overnight fad for most of the school, so Piper wasn't particularly self-conscious about her surprise accessory. As long as the smoke didn't, like, blind her or something . . .
Nope, that weird memories thing was fun and all, but she had to get back to her regular life! Her regular, super boring life. Sigh. So much for heroism.
For the moment the mage preoccupied herself with walking her two minipets Hati and Riya as they had been cooped up for a while and had been growing restless (read: her room had been a little mess when she came to). Ignoring the cold press of the chains around her neck, Piper began to sing to herself as she often did, for a soon-to-be-star must always find times to practice!
"'Cause you're hot then you're cold You're yes then you're no You're in then you're out You're up then you're down~"

Well, this place sucked.
Unfortunately, Lutz didn't have much of a say in this matter. It wasn't like he wanted to be a student in this shoddy school, but it wasn't as if he had much of a choice either. He had woken up in this "Halloween" with no memory of anything but his name, age (though he questioned its accuracy) and...and that was pretty much it, actually. His burning curiosity to figure out what happened to him and his desperation to find somewhere to live had eventually driven the boil to (begrudgingly) enroll in Amityville.
...It had been easier than he had thought, actually. He had expected they would ask for a number of things--guardians' signatures, address of his current place of residence (he wondered if they would have accepted "the streets", but he never got the chance to find out) and so on--but he found that minimal amounts of information was all that he needed to enroll.
And so here he was, moving in with pretty much nothing but the clothes on his back and a sour expression on his face. Arms crossed over his chest, he followed the path, lazily taking in the scenery around him. Okay, first thing's first. The lady said that I'm assigned to the Undead dorms, and that its this way-- Cutting himself off, he came to a sudden halt, his expression momentarily blank before it shifted into a scowl. ...wow, wonderful. You know, it's not really helpful to say "that way" and give a vague wave of your hand when the path branches into a ton of smaller ones along the way.
Scowl deepening, his glass eyes flickered from one branching path to the other, as if searching for some miniscule difference that would tell him which direction he was supposed to take. Fortunately for him, it sounded like someone was traveling down from one of the paths--if he was very, very quiet, then he could just make out the sound of someone singing...
"Excuse me," But he was lost, and didn't care so much about keeping quiet when he needed help, "Do you know where the undead dorms are?"xOl-j-man HELLO ILU and am very slow

"You're wrong when it's right--"
But then a not so musical voice clashed against hers, and awwww she had just about to get into a groooooove. Still, Piper was in a somewhat good mood, and she did like helping...(it got you connections after all!)
"What up, newbie?" she chirped, turning to the boil--well hello there, handsome. Piper smiled brightly and stopped on the path, keeping the grumpkings on a tight leash--Hati was already making faces at the stranger, and Riya was making small chirps like a belated alarm going off: Hey, hey, you got a person here, lookie!
"Undead dorms? Yeah, I got you~ It's not far from here, I can walk you over." She didn't particularly wait for him to say yes or no to it, gesturing for him to come on over. "Moving day, huh?"

He resisted the urge to make a face at being called a newbie, because in all fairness, it was true. His gaze briefly flickered to the two minis that were accompanying the ghoul--cute, he grudgingly admitted, albeit too tiny for his tastes--before he turned his attention back to Piper. It seemed like she knew which way he was supposed to head, and well, so long as she was offering to show him the way...
Sighing, he removed his cap, lifting a hand to run his fingers through his mussed hair. "Much obliged," He supposed, though he wouldn't have even been in this mess had they given him proper directions in the first place, "And yeah, first day here. Not that I have a ton of things to move in with, but..." He trailed off with a shrug, replacing the hat on his head before stuffing his hands in his pockets.
"Lead the way, miss." Though truthfully, he wasn't really looking forward to what the undead dorms looked like. It was too late to back out now, though--he had signed up three years of his life to this place, and he couldn't back out now.
...Sigh.

And polite! "Piper Blacke, future singer and songwriter," she said by way of introduction, grinning away. "But you can keep doing the Miss part until then~" With a small yank of the leashes (and muted whines from both grumpkings), Piper led him along at a casual pace.
"Yeah, my move in day didn't include a lot've stuff either. Better that way, I think! Leaves you more room to cram the stuff you get while you're here," she said. "My cousin Kettil, he's been here forever and he's got a looooot of stuff from past events. Of course, he also has the seeds so..." Grumble grumble.
The undead dorms were dead ahead pun intended not long into their walk. "It's kind of cold in there? Something about keeping the rot down," Piper explained, hiding her own personal squick about the notion. "You don't look like a corpse, though, I wouldn't have guessed!"
All undead were supposed to look like zombies, right...?

She certainly was...chatty. Very chatty. At the very least, Lutz took solace in the fact that this meant he probably didn't have to do much talking. He lifted a brow at her introduction--future singer and songwriter, huh...?--but made no comment about it, simply gesturing to himself with a casual shrug. "Elias Leverenz," He offered briefly, before his lips pulled into a faint frown, "Though I'd prefer to go by Lutz, if you please."
And then he was content to fall silent and look as if he were listening as the ghoul went on to talk about moving in and her cousin and...something or the other, because by that point, he had already zoned out. No one said that the boil was a good listener, though sometimes people assumed so based off of his seemingly polite demeanor.
...Which couldn't be farther from the truth.
He made a face at the mention of rot--wow, this was not at all a promising sign of what his dorm mates were going to be like--but he let out a short laugh at her comment. Lifting a pale hand, he turned it over, flexing his fingers. "Yeah, well. I can't believe I'm a corpse either." He didn't smell or rot (not that he could tell, anyways) at all either. Something must have been done to him, but hell if he could recall what that something was.
"I'm just glad I don't stink," He grumbled, none too quietly.

"Lutz." It was a funny sort of name, but unique. "I like it~ Well, I'm glad you don't stink either, pretty boil," Piper said with a grin. "Because as your first friend, I'd tell you to get some deodorant or something." Whatever the undead used to mask that dang stench.
But hey friends, right?
Once at the door, she hopped forward (forcing the minipets on their strained leashes to hop with her) and pulled the door open for him. "Oh, uh, do you need help moving in by the way?" she asked. "I got lots of time~ The campus is kinda big too, so of course you'll need a tour guide, which I'm happy to provide!" Without asking even! How generous and benevolent she was!

Pretty boil? After a brief moment of surprise, a small smirk curled on the boil's lips. He supposed that he should take that as a compliment. He hadn't really paid much mind to his personal appearance upon arriving in Halloween, but he guessed (haughtily hoped) that it wasn't terrible if this ghoul he had just met was calling him a pretty boil--
--Friend?
Now that caught his attention. He turned to look at her, squinting. "We've known each other for all of five minutes, miss. Isn't it a little...quick to be calling one another friends already?" And by quick he meant way too fast. He didn't even know anything about this ghoul beyond her name.
...Though of course, he probably would have known more about her had he actually been listening to her chattering a few minutes ago, but eh. What can you do.
He murmured a polite thank you when she held the door open for him, taking a step in before turning around and lifting his brows at her. "Well uh, I don't really need too much help moving in, since..." He held his arms out, indicating that he had nothing to unpack. At the offer of a tour, however, he hesitated. He didn't want to have to spend time with anyone longer than necessary, but he was new, and it was probably better to find his bearings now than get lost and embarrass himself (again) later.
..."I suppose a tour would be nice." He admitted, though he was unable to hiding the faintly grudging tone in his voice.

Oh . . . too fast? Don't look so eager now, Piper, you'll be driving people away before you can form actual bonds!
"Oh, sorry," she replied, trying to laugh it off as she pushed her hair back. "I still have some newbie jitters myself, hah . . . Jumping the gun to make friends and all." Oh Jack please don't think I'm a loser please please.
"Let's see, um . . . Well we should probably find you your room first, right? There's also a kitchen area and a common room in each dorm if you want to find those. I haven't actually really been to the undead dorms myself . . ."
. . . Wait, was it a good idea to reveal how technically new she was too? Damn it, Piper, head in the game.

"Newbie, huh?" He lifted his brows at her, but said nothing else. Well, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing to chat with those who were in the same--or similar--boat as he was, he supposed. While he wasn't all that social, he kind of needed all the help that he could get to settle into this...place. This world.
And what a weird world it was, granted that he couldn't recall anything about his life previous to this, so...
Whatever the case, since she seemed eager to help anyways, Lutz figured that he might as well take her up on that offer. "Er, yeah. If you don't mind exploring with me, then I guess the company would be nice." Better to get lost with someone else than the get lost alone (better for his ego, that is).
