(( This is pre-meta ))

There was no escape.

Hel knew where her dorm room was, what her critter account was, which classes she was in, and her usual hiding spots. It became impossible for her to avoid the Reaper, despite her best efforts. She managed so far to avoid any extended periods of time with the Valkyrie, not particularly wanting to get into the whole relationship kerfuffle with her, but today was the day she met her match.

Hel told her she didn't have ghoul friends, and had never had a sleep over because of it.

How much of it was true and how much was a lie was beyond her, but the words were cutting enough; how could she continue to avoid Hel now, knowing that she didn't have ghoul friends? The guilt trip worked, and Amrita agreed to host a sleepover in her room that very weekend.

When the day came, Amrita didn't know what to think, but steeled herself for the worst. When the knock came at the door, she felt her undead little heart jump in panic...well, this was it. No more avoiding it. Time to man up...

"Hey, Hel. Come in~" She offered the ghoul a smile, opening the door wide for her.

Well…it was partly a lie, but also partly a truth.

Hel did have sleep overs before, but only with a few ghouls…and that was Belladonna and Riyo (and Riyo she only had a sleep over with once). Hel’s friendships with other ghouls were strained at best, and nearly non-existent at worse. Hel realized that she got along much better with boils than she ever did with ghouls, meaning, she didn’t have a lot of good friends who were ghouls.

Thus meaning, not a lot of sleep overs.

So, partly a lie, partly a truth, but a guilt trip none the less that Hel knew would work on Amrita. All for the sake of getting the undead to spend more time with her, because she did enjoy her company, even if Amrita didn’t particulary enjoy hers as much…and she knew why. That was her next big reason for instigating a sleep over.

Hel tried to smooth out her wickedly scheming smirk as she stood outside Amrita’s door after she knocked. Luckily, Hel did get it under control, and she was grinning as Amrita opened the door. “Hey!” She greeted, and moved into Amrita’s room with prompted, nice enough to take off her boots by the door. Hel was already prepared for sleeping, though that wouldn’t be happening anytime soon, but also for the chill that made up Amrita’s room. She was wearing brown cableknit turtle neck sweater that she borrowed took with permission asked for borrowed without the intention of returning stole. She stole it. She stole the boxers she was wearing as bottoms too.

She turned and faced the ghoul. “I should strip down naked right now.” She announced with a cheeky grin. “That way I can say I infiltrated your room naked, unlike last time!” She…teased…?

Amrita's smile instantly dropped into a disapproving frown.

"If you even try, I'm leaving." She gave the door a very obvious look, as if she were quite serious about it. It wasn't nudity she had a problem with - it was that they were trying to forcefully invade her space. That had been her issue, and continued to be her issue, with the whole thing.

Hel snickered at that, and really, she didn’t expect any less. “Amrita…do you know what the term ‘wet blanket’ means?” Because really, that summed her up right now.

"Yes."

Amrita let that answer hang in the air for a moment or two, and then heaved a sigh. "So what did you want to do? I don't have much here for entertainment..." The Undead had no TV, no gaming systems, no board games, no cards...nothing. She had books, and homework, and minipets...but that was it. It was something she never really reflected on, but now that the sleepover was in her room, she suddenly felt very self-conscious about it.

Maybe she should dip in to her savings and get a TV or something...to at least have one, just in case.

But then she'd be set back in her quest to help pool funds for Christof's freedom.

Augh, double-edged sword.

“Ah, okay, good.” Hel let that hang in the air for a moment. “So stop it.” She replied cheekily. “Loosen up, live a little…” Then, realizing she was saying that to an undead, Hel thought about it, and giggled. “….Mmm yeah, I mean it still, live a little!” As Amrita said she didn’t have much in the way of entertainment, well, Hel just snorted again, amused. “What are you? A hostess?” More teasing. “Uh, no. If I wanted someone to entertain me, I would go to an amusement park.” Hel threw the pillows she brought unceremoniously onto the floor, along with a few of her favorite quilts.

Hel then flopped on her make shift nest, resting on her stomach. She propped her chin in her hands, and stared up at Amrita. “We can do other things, anyways! Like play cards—“ Because Hel always had a deck on hand “And talk.”

Oh yes, talking.

"I forgot how." It was an honest answer, even if it was a little sarcastic in tone. She was fully aware that Hel realized the irony of her comment, and while it was amusing she couldn't help but poke fun at it, at least a little bit. In the end she just didn't know how to be alive...she had an idea of what made her feel that way, but it always ended up with her getting seriously hurt.

"Sorry, It's just...I don't often have people in my room..." Her mood slipped from annoyed to sheepish, coupled even with the fidgeting of her hands together. "I don't know any card games..." She admitted, continuing to be sheepish, but this time rolling her eyes to look up at the ceiling. When she finally looked down it was to see Hel making a nest on the cold concrete, the very spot she usually slept.

"You can take the bed, you know. I don't use it." She sat on the ground, staying away from Hel's comfort pile in case she decided to move. "...What should we talk about?"

“Ya, I see that.” Hel replied, and grabbed her bag and rifled through it. She finally produced a pack of playing cards, and grinned. “Ya, ya, it is fine, truly. Like I said, I do not need to be entertained by things…” Hel was entertained by creeple, and she was sitting across from one. All was good. “Well, alright then if you have not played cards, then we shall do that first! We are going to play Snaps!” As the ghoul launched into an explanation, she pushed one of her quilts out more, and made a rather demanding gesture at it for Amrita to sit on it and closer to her. Once she was done explaining, she shuffled the cards and dealt them out.

“Got it?” She asked, still dealing cards regardless. “Also…” She sported a wide grin. “The loser has to tell an embarrassing truth~” Hel cackled. There was part of the talking thing.

Amrita tried really hard to not peek over Hel's shoulder to see what she was up to. Part of her didn't even want to know, but she knew she'd find out soon anyway, so she decided to spend her last few seconds alone with her own precious, private thoughts before Hel became as intrusive as ever.

"Snaps?" She parroted, sounding at least a little curious. It was Hel so she had to be on her guard, but the ghoul did have a certain weakness for learning new things; and Snaps, as far as she was concerned, was a new thing indeed. Her grey eye seemed to widen with focus and curiousity as the game was explained and she soaked up as much of the information as she possibly could. "Ooh, okay, that sounds easy enough."

"Yes, got it! But er--" She trailed off as Hel continued, and seemed to choke a little bit on air alone at the stakes. "B-but! Hel! I've never played before! I'll be at a disadvantage and that's not fair!" It really wasn't, and the panic in her voice was very real; she didn't want to tell embarrassing truths, she had so many of them! Hel was setting her up to fail, and that wasn't very nice! "Can't we play a few rounds, stake-free, first? And then we...we can negotiate the terms after?" She really, really didn't want to tell an embarrassing truth.

Really.

Hel couldn't say she was surprised that Amrita was already trying to weasel out of the stakes. She just held onto her cards and snickered. "No." She replied with finality. "I am throwing you into the deep end and you are going to either sink or swim, ghoulie." She then grinned. "This is not up for negotiation. We are going to start, and who ever loses has to tell one embarrassing truth..." She paused and trailed off for a moment.

"Unless...you are doing all this begging because you are...scared...and...chicken...and if you are well...that is rather disappointing, and I am having regrets about electing you as the vice-president of my Student Council..." Hel frowned then, and looked over her cards.

Goading at its best.

Sink or Swim she said, as if it were the first time that had ever happened to her. Amrita didn't even bother to hide the glare she gave the Reaper. A deck of cards might not kill her, but putting embarrassing truths into Hel's hands just might.

"Fine." She uttered in a near growl, folding her arms across her chest. Amrita really resented being called scared, or a chicken, or being thought of as a disappointment. It hit so many sore spots on her that her once brimming distress and annoyance had shifted into a rather simmering dislike. "That was too low, by the way. Please don't do it again."

"So are you going to deal the jackin' cards or what?"

Hel just smirked as she was glared out, and she couldn’t help but laugh as Amrita got snippy with her. “I will stop being low when you stop being a baby.” She replied good naturedly, and then finally started to deal the cards. “After all, you are not the only one at risk of spilling embarrassing truths so…ya.”

The reaper dealt the cards, and then started to organize them before laying some down.

Well…she wouldn’t lie…she was really hoping to hear little Amrita spill some stuff.

"At least I don't try to degrade you to get my way." Amrita was very sore, and it was a very painful spot. The ghoul rubbed her upper arms to try and relax as the cards were dealt. Her mind went back to the rules of the game as a distraction, and it worked.

And, in the first round, Amrita practically wiped the floor with her.

Instead of goading, the Patchwork opted for silence. It was clear she had won, and all she really had to do was stare expectantly at the other ghoul.

“Well you were not going to play if I had tried it honestly.” Hel replied cheerfully…though that cheeriness soon went away once Amrita wiped the floor with her on the first round. Though it was just a game to get Amrita to spill some embarrassing stuff…Hel was still pretty competitive….and now this meant she had to tell something embarrassing.

The reaper was frowning as she stared at the win and then at the ghoul, and she too was silent for a moment before she finally uttered.

“I have a huge stash of wedding magazines under my mattress.”

She then scowled softly and looked over her cards.

"If you had approached it differently, I would have." It was all about tact, and that was something Hel clearly did not possess. Amrita tried very hard to not look smug at her first win, and soon it became a test to try and not look entirely surprised at the embarrassing truth. Hel, with a stack of wedding magazines tucked away? That didn't sound right.

"Interesting." Was all she said, if only to try to set an example for when her inevitable lose came. Which happened sooner than she expected, really. She stared at the cards as she searched for something embarrassing - which was hard to do, considering how on the spot it was.

"I was scared of Mr. Blobby for the longest time."
