In theory, the library was supposed to provide a silent place for Emery to do some work that wasn’t in her bedroom, where, let’s face it, more horsing around was being done than actual schoolwork. The events of the odd adventure she’d had aside, school seemed to be ticking on ever faster. For a particular paper she had, the textbook wasn’t suffice. And the library would be quiet. She’d get the book she needed, hunker down, do some school work…

In theory.

In actuality, after quickly checking out the book (and getting lost a bit in the tall stacks of history books), Emery had gone out to the grassy area between the library and the dorms. Much, much better. Sure, it wasn’t quiet, but the musty smell of very old books and even older librarians had assaulted her senses so badly… Grass was much preferable.

She wandered for a bit, and then without much thought to who might stumble over her, Emery quite literally sat down on a grassy hill near the path, and spread out all of her books and whatnot. “Okay.” She muttered to herself, brow furrowing. “… Okay.”

She’d just have to start it. Right.

“… I wonder if anyone wants to play casketball.” Wah.

It was a really beautiful day. The wind blew and he left his hood down. Usually, that's how you're find him. His reached up and itched his ears, letting out a small sigh of relaxation. The last time someone had done that was when Deshi and him were kids and his step-mom would play with his ears to get him to fall asleep. His mom did it at one point, and it took him some time to get back to where he could allow someone to do that. He blinked.

Somehow, he ended up outside the library and the dorms, and he spotted a young werewolf. She seemed to be busying herself in school work, so he decided to ignore her and walk on past. He didn't want to be considered rude, but he didn't want to stop anyone from doing any studying, until he heard the small mumble of "casketball."

Well maybe he could give her a small bit of time to talk, but he really thought she should focus on her studies.

By the point that a young demon was crossing her path, Emery had closed the library book and leaned back with a huff, squinting up at the sky. She looked down, muttering under her breath about homework being the bane of all suffering, and spotted him.

The pup lit up, tail wagging as she sat upright. "Hey!" She greeted, waving an arm. A distraction! Good timing. She didn't get up yet, in case the boil was running off to class. While pushing off homework was pretty much a gaurentee in Em's book, ditching class wasn't. She grinned warmly at the boil, though.

"What's your name?"

Why not have a little conversation? Boils talked back. Books didn't. (And if they did, they belonged in the library with the old musty librarians.)

Ari smiled, and walked his way down to the young ghoul. "Hey! The name's Ari, how about yourself?" He asked her, giving her a quick toothy grin. Obviously she wasn't going to be studying, so as he walked reached the spot she sat at, Ari took a seat next to her. He usually wasn't this friendly, but today was a nice day, so he decided he might as well!

"It looks like you're trying to do some homework." He pointed out. He probably should start on some himself, but hadn't bothered. He had plenty of time to do it, so he figured he could procrastinate a little while longer.

"Emery." She grinned in kind, watching him cross the grass and plop down next to her. Her ears perked up towards him, though one swivelled sharply at a yell across the quad. She looked, squinted, then returned her attention to Ari at the homework comment, scoffing a bit.

"Actually, I'm experimenting. My hypothesis is that if I sit out here long enough with the books and notebook, the homework'll do itself." She grinned wide. "Saving hours of aching paws writing essays." She beamed at him, shrugging. Procrastination was far too simple an answer, really. Chatting was a much better way to pass the time before she went down to the AV room. "Are you new here, or...?" It was hard to tell veterans from newbies, since she was still a newbie herself.

He smiled. "A pleasure to meet you, Emery." As she started the "experiment," he let out a howl of laughter. He'd never heard anyone say anything like that before. "Oh, are you now? Well, how's that working out?" He inquired, giving her another toothy grin. His ears twitched as he looked at the books. He didn't understand the books, but it wasn't his classes, so he figured it didn't matter.

"No, no, I'm a complete and total new kid. My sister and I just got her the other day, and I haven't completely finished unpacking. And I only really have summer work that needs to be done still.." He said, leaving out the fact that he actually had the work for summer work for over two months or so. He just couldn't stop procrastination.

"You, too." Em said by way of kindness, grinning a little as his inquiry. She picked up a pencil and used it to poke at the book. "Well it's not moving yet, so... Have to say it's a bit slow going." She laughed, pushing the pencil through the ring of her notebook and kicking back comfortably, holding herself up with her arms behind her.

"Oh yeah?" Emery lit up, straightening up again quickly. "Me too! Well, sorta. I've been here longer than a couple days, at any rate, but I'm a newbie too." She grinned wide. "How're you settling, then? Aside from the summer work." Which sounded awful, she was glad she hadn't gotten any. Her arrangement at Amityville had been pretty short notice, of course, so she was lucky to be there at all. "And your sister, too. At least you're not here alone; it's a bit terrifying, then."

Of course, after meeting fellow radio heads, Emery was quickly falling into her old habits. It was nice!

He shrugged his shoulders. How was he settling in? He really hadn't taken a minute to think about how he had been adjusting to the school. "Well, I'd say.. I'm doing okay, considering I've had my sister with me and I've just barely gotten away from her. Do you have any family here at the school?" He asked her, curious to find more about her. Finally, a friend he could talk to. "I mean, if you're here alone, that's great too. But it has to get lonely, wouldn't you think?"

He thought more about how he was settling. It was a completely different environment and he was a little uncomfortable with it. But it was probably just his nerves. He was nervous to meet more people, and to start his schooling. But at the same time, he was excited.

It was a little hot and he felt a bit of ink coming down out of his hair. He took out a handkerchief and blotted his head, just so it would get everywhere. He wasn't sweating too much though, so it was very little.

"It's good, though, that you got someone to fall back on." She said, smiling a bit and shaking her head at his inquiry. "Nah, all mine're grown up. I'm the youngest in the litter." She scratched her chin, grinning a bit. "But they all went here, 'cept one or two, so they kinda know what it's like."

Of course, it was lonely. She hadn't wanted to come at all, really. But you worked with the cards you were dealt. And it wasn't all bad. Em leaned back, blinking and sniffing curiously at the handkerchief when he blotted out the black ooziness off his head. "Issat blood?" She blurted out, furrowing her brow. It didn't smell like blood, she was all to familiar with that, but she wasn't sure what it smelled like.

How odd.

He laughed. It was the first time someone had noticed his ink. "No, it's not blood, I promise." He told her, grinning a bit more. "I'm an Inugami, but my blood, sweat, and.. well, for lack of a better term, slobber, is ink. I guess you could say I'm an 'inkugami.'" He joked.

So she didn't have any family here.. that wasn't too bad. It did have to get lonely though. "So you had family that went here but you're alone.. Well that means you got a pretty good idea of what it's like to be going here, right?"

"Oh!" She snickered a little at the joke, nodding now that the panic of OMGBLOOD had passed. "That's cool, though." She said, nose twitching a little. Emery perked a little at his inquiry, nodding. "Kinda? I mean, Dad's been pretty thorough on where I'm not supposed to go." She grunted. Mind, she had been to most of those places already and figured out whether he was just being overdramatic or not. "And my sister, the oldest? She said she loved it here, it was a nice break from the pack. Me... I kinda miss the chaos." She grinned crookedly, shrugging. "When there are ten or more people in the house at any given time..."

Silence was nonexistant. And now that Em was alone, it seemed to surround her.
