They had landed safely on the west side of Serenia. Kayden had refused to venture to the capital with her, leaving Charlotte grumbling as she walked amongst the trees. Still, she'd known she couldn't go forth to visit the Orderite's leader with anyone else. So, despite her grumbling, Char felt excited. Her parents had told her that when she was old enough, she could make the trip to choose her most important weapon. And that's just what she was headed out to do! At least... it would be if she could just get there. But hell if Charlotte knew where she was going! Her excitement was only a bit dampened nonetheless. She'd just have to find someone to ask directions from... Though... She hadn't seen anyone, yet...
Charlotte's eyes brightened as she spotted a little cabin on the edge of the trees. Half tucked away, where a less watchful soul wouldn't find it. She could ask whoever lived there! Pleasantly surprised, Char skipped up to the door and knocked loudly.

It had been a few days since Maeron had obtained a shining blue Drakein egg. Everywhere he went, the little egg came with him; to school, to the market, he wouldn't even leave his own bedroom unless the egg came with him. Currently, he sat in the living room, holding the heavy egg in his lap and reading from a thick book.
He nearly fell from his perch when a knock sounded on the door. He stared at it for a while, curious, but also suspicious. He ended up being more curious than anything else. Mae hoped up, taking the egg with him as he answered the door. Needless to say, he was surprised to see a little blond girl there. She didn't look familiar... Not in any of his classes. But she had to have been almost the same age. "Can I help you?" He asked as politely as he could in his bewilderment.

Charlotte blinked at the purple-headed... girl. She was expecting some lonely old man, not a kid! Oh well. Beggars couldn't be choosers... "Um, I was looking for the capital. So, if you could just point me..." She trailed off as her gaze found the glistening blue orb the other Orderite was holding. Generally speaking, Char was able to contain herself until she had time to think if she really wanted the object enough to take it. She didn't have to think this time. Her gaze snapped back up. "I'm Charlotte." She said pleasantly, extending a friendly hand to shake.

Mae's expression instantly brightened at the offered limb, and he took her hand without a second thought. "I'm Mae." He replied, grinning. He'd never seen Charlotte before, so she probably didn't live around here... Not that he knew everyone that lived near the capital. That was just absurd! Still, he kinda felt like he would have noticed her strange attire and very magenta eyes... "Uh, come in! I'll hunt down a map for ya!" It probably would've been easier to just put her on the road and send her off, but Maeron was a little to excited to have someone his age so close to his house to get rid of her just yet...

It wasn't difficult to see how excited the little green boy was. Charlotte smugly allowed herself to be invited in; invited closer to the little blue orb the boy was carrying around. She could hardly help herself. As he stepped to the side to allow her in, Char stuck close to him. Of course, she couldn't seem too interested in it. A healthily mild curiosity was probably enough. "Um, what is that thing?" She ask softly, pointing out the orb in his arms. She found herself completely uninterested in finding her way into the city without the little treasure. She vaguely wondered how upset Mae would be. Already, he seemed like the emotional sort to her, the way his strangely colored eyes lit up. What a strange boy...

Maeron happily led Char into his little cottage. The front door opened right into a spacious and rather darkly lit living room. The sun shining through the window was the best source of light, falling gracefully onto a dark, cream-colored sofa laden with the books and papers Mae enjoyed studying. A colored oval rug lay on the wooden floor, also with books strewn about it. It wasn't the cleanest of abodes (not just due to the stuff lying across every surface, but there was also a solid layer of dust on any surface that went regularly untouched), but Mae was more than satisfied with his comfortable little home.
He blinked as the other Orderite pointed out the egg in his arms. "This thing?" He asked, voice just a touch suspicious. Of course she was curious, though... It was a Drakein egg, after all! And Mae desperately didn't want her to leave... "It's an egg..." He said slowly. "That my mom sent me." He looked down at the shining blue thing and swallowed. "Do you... want to hold it?" He asked softly. The idea of handing it over deeply upset him. But stronger was the feeling to keep this friendly, bright-eyed girl around. Besides, he wouldn't be able to dig through papers for a map with an egg on his hip...

Charlotte couldn't say she was impressed with the contents of the room. Of course, she was used to a bit of mess, living around dirty, smelly seafolk, and all. But she'd always thought landlubbers were a bit tidier... Oh, well! She wasn't planning to be here long, anyway! Especially since the boy had just offered to let her hold the little treasure. The blond girl's eyes brightened instantly. "Sure!" She beamed, instantly reaching out to take the object in question from him. It was a bit heavier than she thought it would be, but it was smooth as glass and sparkling even in this dim light. She looked up at Maeron's suspicious expression. Maybe she shouldn't take it to have. It did seem like it could get rather lonely out here. Still, getting a closer look in the sunshine could be nice! "I'll be careful." Char promised, hoping it would be enough to get him to go ahead and grab the map.

Mae nearly snapped at the girl as she reached to pull the egg from him. Then he remembered that would probably come off as rude and not win him any favors. Still, he wasn't a big proponent of having things ripped from his hands. The Orderite fidgeted uncomfortably as he watched Char admire his treasure. Her reassurances of care meant next to nothing to him, especially after the way she'd pulled it from him... Manners must not mean much to the girl... "Okay..." Mae grumbled, slowly taking a step back. Hopefully she wouldn't leave without the map anyway. Mae had no doubt he could take on a silly blond girl! So, he walked purposefully slowly to the back room - so as not to seem rushed - and instantly started trashing the place in search of a useful map. He thought he'd be okay leaving his little egg out there with her, but as it turns out... Not so much. He didn't want to seem weird in front of her, though! the whole situation was hopeless! Mae found himself shuffling through the papers with all deliberate speed.

Char could not have been more pleased when the boy finally scurried off to retrieve her map. It didn't seem like too bad a guy, just... he didn't trust her. And, despite her earlier intentions, Charlotte didn't appreciate that. She'd just have to show him what a good little girl she was! She giggled softly as she Wrapped her arms fully around the egg. Without another thought, she turned back toward the door and headed out without bothering to say anything. She had half a mind to be a bit sneakier, but decided against it. Poor guy would probably have a heart attack if she scampered off too far. So, she just plopped down on his porch, holding the blue egg in her lap and tracing the faint gray swirls. It was pretty... Char didn't care much for Dragons, but Drakein weren't quite as bad, were they? Especially if they came from eggs... Maybe she would hunt for one on her adventures. She held the thing up to the light, watching it sparkle and glisten and shine at her. She couldn't help but smile.

Mae was starting to get frustrated with his papers. Grah! They really did need a better organizational system! He perked up a bit as he recognized the familiar latitude and longitude lines, tucked between two heavy stacks. He carefully tried to slide it free... Until he heard the sound of his door opening. Instantly, he perked up, straining to hear sounds coming from inside his cottage, but there were none. He carelessly dragged the paper with him, oblivious to the sounds of ripping and the mass of parchment tumbling around him as he bolted to the door. She's left! She really had! Growling angrily, Mae flung the door open and shouted, "Hey!" as he blasted through it, ready to travel any amount of distance to catch up with this stranger. In his rush, he hardly noticed Char's perch on the porch, and as he dove forward, he instantly fell atop her, sending both of them to the ground.

Charlotte squealed in alarm as she was attacked, clutching the egg close to her body. Unfortunately, as Maeron landed on her, it popped from her grasp, rolling across the little wooden porch and away from her. She turned confused violet orbs to stare at the boy, only to find his face mere inches away from hers. Blushing, she squeezed out from under him. "no need to be so rough!" She squeaked in surprise, voice a bit higher than usual. The guy had... really weird eyes. She glanced down uncertainly, then spotted the torn paper in his hand. "Is that for me?" She asked hurriedly, reaching to take the paper before he could dent it. She wasn't sure if she was embarrassed, confused, miffed, or... what. But she had to get out of there before things got awkward! Though, she wasn't entirely sure who it'd be awkward for. "I-I'd better be off! This is all I need, right? I-I'll just bring it back on my way out of the city! But, um, thank you!" With that, Char hurried away quickly, tilting her head so her hair hid her from view as she scurried away from the boy.

Needless to say, Maeron wasn't expecting to see the girl sitting out on his porch, just admiring his egg. And he wasn't expecting to land on top of her, either. His look could only be described as dumbfounded as she blushed, took his map and bustled away. The frenzy left the Orderite boy a bit confused. But in the bustle, he did notice one thing... That she was definitely lying about bringing the map back. With a huff, Maeron went to collect his egg that Char had so carelessly dropped. He polished it a bit and shook his head.
