It was interesting how playing a part - even if it was a small part - in preserving the state of the world made her feel a little bit better about herself. There was still that sense of 'I'm not good enough' lurking inside of her, but Lizzy hadn't felt this good about herself in a while. Not since...
She patted herself gently on her cheeks, reminding herself to stay away from the negative thoughts. She had visited Jericho, and knowing that he didn't forget everything again was fantastic. Maybe she should drop by Junko's place now? Or maybe... She paused at the stairs, pausing and giggling as she was suddenly reminded of one of the alternative universes that she had encountered during one of the tasks.
Specifically, the high school swimming universe. There were familiar faces there, and... Ah! Amphi! Amphi's in this dorm too! She hadn't seen the mermaid in a while, so maybe this might be a good time for her to visit, and see if she was doing well.
Making a U-turn, she approached the closest cleaning gnome, and although he had a couple of lewd remarks regarding Amphi's assets, he was helpful and sent Lizzy on her way. Upon reaching her place, she knocked on the door, and waited, hoping that she's in.

Amphi had been feeding all her minipets when she the light rap on her door perked her ear fins. At first she was going to ignore it, because minipets but...since most of them had been fed and what was left was little, she dropped the food and sighed at them as they attacked.
Making her way to the door, she swung it open with a expasreted expression, especially with her comet Levathia forgoing food to make sure she was okay with door.
"Lizzy!" The mermaid's face changed instantly, reaching out for the spider demoness and pulling her into a crushing hug to her bosom. "Hi Lizzy."
Hnnnnnnnngh her friend.

Lizzy had forgotten how much she enjoyed hanging out with Amphi, and seeing her after so long made her realize just how much she missed the company of her friend. It really was no good trying to hide from the world. Not when she could be getting more bosom hugs like this one.
"Amphi~ Amphi~" She returned the greeting and the hug, holding the mermaid tightly as she gently swayed her from left to right with the silliest grin on her face, "It's been forever."

"Lizzy!" The mermaid started to sway with Lizzy before pulling back, looking over the spider demoness with a very intense stare, looking her over.
"Are you okay? Were you in the tear?" She also may have ran her hands down Lizzy's arm. "I'm so glad you're okay..."

Lizzy was starting to feel a little self-conscious from all the Amphi staring, so she returned the favor by looking the mermaid over with equal intensity; she was glad to find her in one piece, which delighted her as much as finding out that Amphi did not forget her.
"I was... I'm assuming from your question that you were there too?" She asked, smiling at the touch before grabbing her hands, holding them firmly yet gently between them, "I'm glad you're safe too... And that we managed to stop the world from being destroyed."

"I was." She breathed out, looking around. "I didn't want to leave there without everything. I noticed a lot of other students though didn't feel the same. It's....disheartening."
She blinked and a smile returned, pulling Lizzy into the room and nodding. "Yes! The world has been saved. I just wonder what the consequences afterwards mean. Um, Sorry, I don't want you to just stand out there forever!" She shut the door behind her before looking around. "Do you want some spookies? And I still have some of Xiu's booberry lemon tea?"

"Maybe they had things that they really, really wanted to forget?" Lizzy smiled sadly; she could see where Amphi was coming from, since she made the decision to hold onto her memories - good and bad - when she left the tear, but... To say that she didn't harbor the thought of letting go of a few things would be a lie. It really was tempting, even if she would be living in a false reality since what had happened, happened.
She wouldn't really be free,.
"Yeah, but I guess there's no use worrying about the future," She nodded, following Amphi into the room, "Oh, spookies sound good!"

Amphi thought of Danny, and how the demonness would want to forget the boilfriend she had for two years and loved more than anything.
A sense of disappointment and sadness filled her.
"There is always bad memories, and sometimes they are more than the good." Amphi clutched at her chest. "When they offered to forget everything. I wanted to do it. I wanted to forget about being taken by the hunters, about losing to the horseman, about being friends with everyone." Amphi shook her head and looked at Lizzy. "But if I forget the bad, I forget to treasure the good so...I guess I am more disappointed. But it is their choice." Amphi sighed, "I wish we were never given the option."
For a moment she disappeared into another room, before returning with a tray of the snacks and tea. A habit she was pleased to say she mastered since Xiu was her friend.
"Speaking of futures." Amphi settled down, "I think I've settled on what I want to do. Do you know the boogeymen Lizzy?"

"Aw... Amphi..." Lizzy reached out for her friend, and pulled her close in another hug. Gently patting her hair, she closed her eyes, "It's true. There will always be... Memories that hurt, and memories that sadden. And I'm glad that you chose not to forget, not only because it would make me sad for our years of friendship to be forgotten with a decision made within minutes, but because... By choosing not to forget, you are choosing to face your fears and your disappointment and your hurt. If similar things are to happen in the future, you'll be strong enough to face them again, and again, and again."
She inhaled deeply, and let her friend go, looking into her eyes, "Thank you. For reminding me why I made the decision not to forget." Everything that she said just now... Maybe it was for her own benefit, more than for Amphi's. She had never seen her in such a different light before; a brave, resilient Amphi. Maybe there's more to learn from the mermaid than just how to swim.
"I do. What about them?" Lizzy replied, her curiosity perked as she took one of the offered spookies with a soft 'thank you'.

Hugs will always be the best, and when Lizzy took her in one, her arms wrapped around the spider demoness and sighed with her. "You're so wise Lizzy, I always hoped to be like you one day too." Amphi admitted, "Smart and Pretty and kind but Strong." She shook her head, "I'm really glad I am friends with you. That I didn't forget. I wouldn't want to make anyone said like that."
"Me? I didn't do anything." She smiled at Lizzy now, shaking her head. "We both just remembered why choices and actions are important."
She paused again, reaching for a spooky. her head ducked a little, shyly looking up at Lizzy now before answering with..."I think I want to be one. To help out Halloween." She clasped her hands together, "I've been so worried about Humans and Horseman that I haven't even looked at what I want to do with myself." Amphi also paused. "Roch broke up with me, but some of the things he told me. They stuck."

"R-really?" Lizzy was both flattered and flustered that Amphi would think so highly of her, and while she didn't see herself that way, it was important to accept compliments... Especially since it seemed to be helping her rebuild her self-confidence, little by little. Blushing, she smiled, feeling shy all of a sudden, "Thank you. That's really nice of you to say..."
She nodded in agreement; their choices not only affected themselves, but it affected others too... If she had chosen to forget, she would no doubt hurt the people who cared about her.
"I'll support you as long as you think that it's something you really want to do. I think... Your heart is in the right place," She beamed at the mermaid, only for her expression to fall a second later; she never really liked Roch, because of his terrible lack of tact, but Junko never liked Mac either, and she still loved him... And as long as Amphi liked him, she wouldn't judge. She knew how painful it could be to go through a break up though. She's been there. Twice.
"Mac breaking up with me gave me a lot of things to reflect about too," She said quietly, and then patted Amphi on the back of her hand, "I'm sorry to hear that... But I'm glad to see that you are working things out."

"Yes really!" The mermaid exclaimed looking at Lizzy, "I don't say things I don't mean. But I am glad it makes you happy." If Lizzy was suddenly being shy, Amphi reacted in the same way, her face blushing, her gaze drawn downwards as she busied herself with looking at her feet.
Almost like the two gave each other a love confession or something.
"I just feel like I make a lot of mistakes, I don't want this to be one too." Amphi shook her head, "I'm so scared of the future for myself. I don't want to be an adult yet, I'm not ready for that world..." And then she looked back to Lizzy, "But then I'm scared I'll be stuck here forever."
"The break up I think got harder for me cause Roch was so angry. I wanted to be friends afterwards but he hates me. he hates me so much." She sighed. "But that's all in the past, I just have to learn from it instead."

"I have similar... Fears, I guess I would call it," Lizzy muttered, fiddling with the hem of her skirt for a bit as she sighed; how ironic for a creature made of Fear to have such strong feelings towards something like growing up, "I don't feel like an adult. I don't feel ready enough to go out there to work, but... When I told an old family friend, he said that we'll never truly feel ready for adulthood. It's not something that can be prepared for. It's just one of those things that... You just have to do it, and slowly, you'll get over whatever uncertainties you have."
She sighed again; those were wise words, but a little tough for her to accept... If she chooses to delay the inevitable, she'll never be ready? The only way to be ready is to put yourself out there? Is that really... What leaving school is?
"Oh no..." She frowned, reaching out for Amphi's hands so she could hold them; it was a very real fear she had, that Mac would... Hate her or refuse to see her. That fear had kept her from trying to reach out to him after the break up. She didn't want to feel... That much dejection again, "If you don't mind me asking... Why was he angry? Why would he hate you?"
It didn't make sense to her. Even if she disapproved of Roch, she never thought that he could be so cruel.

"I guess its natural to fear growing up then." Amphi whispered, "I am really glad it's not just me." She blinked, taking the advice in. Much like Lizzy, it was easier said than done. Easy to hear but not quite so much to accept.
At the question of Roch and her break up, Amphi looked a bit confused herself.
"Well Its a long complicated start. Um, We well...We've been a rocky start ever since we started dating. I was taken by the hunters and they put something in me...a Tracker. I didn't talk for months after, which was hard on Roch because we had just started dating. Then he would leave for family things, and sometimes I would go. There was just so much going on. We got in a lot of arguements, and one day I watched a hunter die and I couldn't stand to see it happen. We argued about that. We had one fight where we just decided not to talk to each other for awhile. When we got back together, it lasted a couple of weeks...." She took a steadying breath...
"My sister got really sick, and I had to leave. I didn't know how long I'd be gone, so I wrote a letter and returned Roch's ring to him and left for the sea again. She died within a week, and I stayed with my clan for another month before coming back. I didn't seek Roch out at first but when I did finally meet him.....He had ghouls all over him." She bit her lip, "I didn't understand, and it hurt to see that I was so easily replaced. But I guess he was angry, because he would've waited for me. I just didn't want him too."

"I think a lot of us have similar feelings," Lizzy replied with a sheepish smile before going quiet, listening to Amphi talk about Roch. She would nod once in a while to show that she was still listening, but she wanted to know everything before making any assumptions... Especially with her being biased against Roch.
Shuffling closer to Amphi, she placed her arms around her, and starting to gently stroke her hair. Even after the mermaid was done with her tale, Lizzy remained silent for a while; so many things had happened, and... She felt so guilty for not being there to support her. To hold her, and give her some sort of reassurance, even if she knew that it was normal for her to need to grief.
"I'm sorry to hear about your sister," She continued to pet her hair, "And I'm sorry that it had to end like that with Roch, but..." She bit down on her lower lip, looking hesitant before sighing deeply, "But it sounded to me like maybe the two of you just weren't compatible."
A pause.
"But the thing I'm most sorry about... Is not being around when you probably needed a friend," Her expression fell, and she held the ghoul closer, "We could have gone for eye scream together. Maybe go swimming." They could have done something, and she could have held Amphi's hand through all those nasty experiences.
