Dekana was pleased with himself. He was finally getting somewhere with his swimming club! All he needed was to organize the date and time of the Beach Party he'd decided to throw in celebration of its official founding.
Thus, he was sitting on the pebbled beach of the lake the club would meet at, clad only in swimming trunks with his tail wrapped around himself as he thought. The student that had requested a lesson hadn't shown up at all and that was depressing but maybe they'd gotten lost. Either way, it couldn't detract from his prideful high.
Picking up a pebble, he turned it over in his hand and then threw it expertly to skip several times across the water's placid surface.

 The pebble managed to skid a few times over the water before a large, reptilian head broke the surface and closed his jaws over it. He turned to look towards the beach, grinned (as much as a large, sea serpent could) and then smashed rock within his teeth with the force of his bite. Granted, the show would have probably looked all the better had Gabrian not accidentally inhaled some of the pebble crumbs, forcing him into a coughing fit before he spit out the remains of the unfortunate rock.
"That played out differently in my mind," he mumbled before he swam towards the shore, still keeping his body within the waters, but his long neck arched to look at Dekana, "Soooo..." he drawled out lightly, "What bring you here?" his head cocked to one side as he spoke, making the serpent lose any sense of threat he might've had about him, as he looked genuinely curious.

Dekana sat up as something caught his rock, ears flicking forward to full alertness as his tail flicked. A serpent? The boy grinned upon seeing the other was a fellow student and waved, "The lake brings me here. I'm supposed to meet someone for swimming lessons for the club... but I don't think they're coming." He grumbled a bit, ear twitching irately. "Who're you? I haven't seen you here before." It wasn't often people got the drop on him in any form and it piqued his curiosity.

If large, aquatic serpents could grin, this one sure did, "Good answer," he told the other boil as he drew nearer, the long body reaching the shore within moments, and once on the sandy back, he chuckled, "Someone stood you up on swimming lessons? Well... all the worse for them. Their loss," a flash of light engulfed the reptile, and when it dissipated, in it's steed remain a tall, green haired demon, dressed only in swimming trunks, "What was their name, by the way? Wouldn't happen to be a tan colored, freckled gryphon that's deathly afraid of water, would it?" a pause, and then the demon drew closer still to Dekana, "Also, did I hear right? Swim club?"
Once entirely out of the water, standing on the beach beside the other boil, Gabrian raised a hand, and magic glowed before all the water that clung to his form floated away from his skin and formed into a glob he held in mid air. He flicked his wrist, and the glob of water was sent back into the lake with a tiny splash, "My name 's Gabrian," he told the other, "Year two. I've been gone for a while on a sort of business trip," he let out a sigh and turned his gaze on the other boil, as if to say 'Family, couldn't really say no', "Got here the other day, settled back into my old dorm room, which was still unoccupied... and I'm still trying to figure out what's going on before signing myself back up onto classes. Things have changed around here a bit," a pause followed, "Now... about that swimming club. How'd one go up signing for it, by the way?"

"You'd think they would want the key to swimming with the fishes rather then sleeping with them." Dekana mourned briefly, opening his arms in a gesture of 'somebody else understands!' "Their name? Elsidore, I think. And unless said freckled gryphon was a dark clad, stringy wraith of a ghoul I don't think so." He grinned. "Dekana, year one but I've been here long enough see others in my year graduate...." The monster shrugged a bit, "Been a lot going on. As for the swimming club... you'd have to speak to the President of the club. It's called Deepfall Aquatics and I happen to be quite familiar with the club president. I can put in a good word for you - if you do more then float all pretty like." He gestured back at the water, in the direction of the pier. "Do that and you're good enough to teach the aquatically challenged, I understand."

"People," he grinned at the other boy, "They have no idea what they want, honestly, but then again, if you were to ask me if I wanted the secret to flying, I'd probably say I didn't. I'm much more fond of water than I am of the sky up above," he shuddered slightly, "Flying sounds unappealing to me; can you imagine falling from such altitudes? So I don't know, maybe it's something like that with your drop out too, only... much more related to water than the sky, obviously."
A chuckle followed Dekana's admission, "Nope, I'm afraid the gryphon's all male. Or so I've been told, I wouldn't exactly know, and something tells me asking his ghoulfriend might earn me either a slap or a curious look, I'm not dead sure which," he turned to glance at the water's surface briefly, before shaking his head slightly, "I don't know what it is with winged peeps and water that makes them so incompatible," his gaze turned back to Dekana as he spoke, and Gabrian smiled softly in understanding, "Yes, well... I've been gone for two years, so I guess we're probably mostly even there. Most my friends are about ready to graduate from the school, and here I am, floundering around like a Snot, wondering what the Jack's been going on while I've been gone. Nothing seems to be the same - maybe you could fill me in, some time, if you've been around so long, because I've seriously no idea what's going on lately."
A brow arched as the other boil pointed at the water, "You're asking me, a Nix, what I can do in the water?" an almost sardonic look washed over his features, "Mate, are you actually serious?" he paused a beat, and then smirked, "Apparently you are serious..." he rubbed his hands together, then held them up in a decisively innocent gesture, "I won't even shift forms. I'll stay in this form for the demonstration; what, exactly, do you want me to?" he'd neglected to mention that he could breathe under water just as well as he could breathe outside of it, but he figured the other boil would catch on soon enough.

He simply chuckled and nodded as Gabrian spoke, the words flowing swift as a river. It was amusing - and refreshing - to find someone to speak with like this. "I don't know either. Plenty of winged folk who call water home too... the reptiles mostly. And I could, I suppose. I'm not much help though, just heard rumours and the like, not too much personally." Dekana laughed at the incredulity of the Nix as he nodded, "Well, since I know you're the sort to swim well, beat me in a race? I'm Mishibizhiw, among the families that rule between water and shadow. It'd be a click total, to the dock and back. If you win, I'll let you in." The monster waded into the water, scales flashing like a fish's in the light, "If I win, you owe me a favour. Deal?" Dark Fire Angel Figured we could roll 1d20 to see the results since it doesn't matter too much either way - highest roll wins? You roll first~
