Denebola had a hard time remembering what it felt like the last time she had ventured into space, what it felt like the last time she had landed on the planet that circled her sun. They landed on a raised stone platform, which had cracks running through it with vegetation seeping up through the cracks and onto the stone. Her eyes fluttered open and once she was sure of where they were she let go of Remarque's hand.

She blinked slowly, gaze sweeping across the ruined stone before looking up at her companion. This is where she had materialized the last time as well and she wondered if it was a subconscious thing. This had been the star's port, where it had welcome it's visitors.

She offered him a tentative smile before turning away. The planet had always been lush and despite the obvious devastation, fragments of broken buildings and fallen trees littered the area, it was still green. In some parts. The trees hadn't recovered and there were patches of land completely barren. Denebola had survived better than some, but nature was always quick to come back.

That was where it had been fortunate, but outside of the vegetation there was nothing. Nothing that needed more than light to live.

"Welcome to Denebola," she told him, trying not to frown.

Remarque had no idea what the planet used to look like, or what it was supposed to look like. But he knew he was in space.

The lighting was different—the air was different. He sucked in a breath and then released it slowly, savoring the cleansing sensation it brought with him.

He wasn't sure if Denebola was wholly what he was looking for; Lenka's planet had been filled with such dense foliage that he hadn't been able to see the stars like he'd wanted to. He didn't have a good view of the sky, or the great, vast universe surrounding them.

The vision of the sky was one of the few good things the Surrounding had brought—along with meeting Ares and accessing this power. As if afraid to be disappointed, he refrained from looking up. Instead, his eyes skimmed the area around them. The plants looked different from those he was used to—either here or what he recognized on Lenka. Not that he had actually had a lot of time to examine things on Lenka; he'd been a little too preoccupied with finding out if they were going to make it off the planet.

"Does it feel like coming home?" he asked, prying his eyes away from the environment so he could turn to face her.

If Remarque looked up, he would be pleasantly surprised to find the sky open above him. The platform had once been the landing port of Denebola and as such, the had kept the area clear of trees as to not impede travel. The brightness of her star did however, prevent him from seeing too many stars. It was about midday and the sun would never quite set, only dim.

The senshi of dragonflies watched him quietly, curiously. She envied his enthusiasm because she lacked it. She should have been overjoyed to be able to return to the planet she originally hailed from but it made her heart ache. Her world was but a mere shadow of what it used to be. She doubted it would ever truly recover and she feared for the day when Earth suffered a similar fate.

She did not voice this, because she pushed the thought away to the recesses of her mind. She would not be pessimistic.

She sucked in a breath, trying to calm her rapid heart beat as she turned away from him. "In some ways yes," she answered carefully. "It mostly makes my heart hurt," she admitted. She hadn't be able to keep the doubts from being voice while around Remarque. She was too comfortable. She stepped away, towards the stone's edge. "To know this used to be filled with people and now nothing but plants remain," she sighed.

Suddenly she froze and half-turned towards Remarque. "Do you hear that?" She asked tilting her head, expression puzzled. A loud hum roared in her ears. A haze overcame her and she found herself in a flashback.

The rustle of leaves had her turning her ear toward them. It happened in a matter of seconds, the slight hum followed by a crash through the trees and suddenly the girl was throwing herself at the blond full force. For a brief moment, as they collided with the stone platform, they were a tangle of limbs and any words she might have said were lost to a roaring sound and an overly loud hum of wings. .

Her mind cleared and she found that while in a daze she had tackled Remarque to the ground. Just like her vision, they were a tangle of limbs before she threw herself back, embarrassment bubbling up inside her. "I-I'm sorry. I. I don't." She stopped, staring at him intently. Her eyes closed and she focused on the memory. On the person in the memory.

Mismatched eyes opened and she gasped, skittering back. She quickly clamped her hands over her mouth and stared openly at him. Unashamed.

It was him.

The brightness of her star did however, prevent him from seeing too many stars. It was about midday and the sun would never quite set, only dim.

Remarque's eyes continued to dart around for a while, taking in the sights as he could. He certainly did not view Denebola as a once vivid planet; he had no idea what it might have been—or what it might be today if not for whatever had happened in the universe all those centuries ago. He understood it only as he saw it, and for that, he was happy with it.

Sad, a bit, that he couldn’t see the sky as much as he wanted, but happy because it was a different sky then the one he usually stared up at. He might have continued to enjoy the newness of it all had she not spoken.

Or tackled him to the ground.

His first instinct was to attack the girl—throw her off…but she had apologized before he had gotten the chance to retaliate. Which left him confused and uncertain.

…And then she was looking at him like he'd grown a second head.

While briefly stunned, it did not stop him from pulling himself up and brushing himself off. "Relax," he instructed in an uncertain tone. "…I'm not going to bite or something, you don't have to freak out. Is your head all right? Did you hit it or something?"

Which might explain her hearing things, right?

…As long as they made it back to earth all right, he wasn't going to throw a fit over the whole thing—even if it was odd.

White Moon Senshi were so weird.

"Remarque," his name came out as little more than a whisper from her lips. She swallowed dryly, closing her mouth and struggling to collect her thoughts. She blinked rapidly at him, pulling her legs in and resting her elbows on her knees. "Remarque," she tried again, this time his name coming out much clearer. No longer hazy she found the words she needed to say. "You were here."

She let it sink in, picking herself up off the ground. She took a moment to dust off her skirt. Her gaze was kept low, intently focused on being busy. Slowly, her eyes lifted and she looked at him.

She cleared her throat, biting down on her lip as she tried to decide how best to explain her actions. She sighed, pushed her bangs up so her palm rested against her tiara. "Remarque," she tried again, his name coming out slow and she sounded breathless. "I...I tackled you because I had a vision. Of the past. Of me." A pregnant pause while she sucked in a breath to steady herself. "And you."

She had done the exact same thing to him back when Denebola had been thriving.

Remarque stiffened at her words and stared at Denebola for a long moment, as if by looking at her he'd be able to decipher exactly what she was talking about. After too long he replied with an uncertain, "Oh?"

He remembered nothing, but this didn't come as any surprise to him. It was not the first time someone had made reference to a him that he didn't know. He was only getting more curious. Too many questions plucked up in his head and he had to struggle to think of a logical response.

"I don't have any recollection of it," he informed her, though his eyes were locked with hers, like he was searching them for answers. "What happened, what else was there?"

He tried to sound calm, but there was a sort of urgency in his voice that even he couldn't hide.

Remarque—the other Remarque—was a great mystery to him. He was connected to him, and yet totally distant. There was a sort of morbid fascination for who he 'used' to be—who he could have been.

He just wanted to know.

Her head was spinning and she was certain, despite the idea that the planet was always spinning, that the ground was spinning beneath her. So much so that she collapsed, her knees colliding with the hard stone and her hands splaying out before her as she tried to catch herself. The sudden feeling of breathlessness it her hard and she had to force herself to focus on her breathing.

And for a moment, Denebola wondered if another memory of another life would overtake her.

She swallowed, tongue feeling thick in her mouth as she forced herself to look up at her companion. How pathetic she must look to him, barely holding herself together while she tried to decipher the sickness that overcame her. While she tried to make sense of a glance at a past she did not recall. "You...you looked different," she managed, curling her fingers into her palms. She made no attempt to stand, worried she would only fall to the ground once more.

"But it was you, well who you used to be," she paused, sucking in a shaky breath, "with me, but not me. A different me, same soul. Different face." It was like her life had become a TV show, had she been a Timelord her whole life and not known it? "Despite the differences in your...fuku I know it was you because she knew it was you." She stopped because the whole thing sounded ridiculous, but she knew it was right. True. "We were, the old us...the us before Destiny City, being attacked but some beast with wings. She--I, tackled you to save you. I don't know why you were here or anything really but," she shook her head.

She sounded crazy, she was crazy.

God, she probably sounded like a loon. Was she losing sense of reality?

"Ugh, I'm sorry. I don't make any sense, but this has never happened."

Remarque squinted at the senshi, as if trying to decide if she had hit her head a bit too hard on something between Destiny City and here. Him but not him, her but not her, this had never happened…

Well, okay, it was at least something to work with.

"No," Remarque reassured, and though he sounded as though he were sympathetic he was still very much at odds with what he should be taking out of this conversation. This was an exciting trip to a homeworld, but certainly was unlike any he'd ever experienced before, and it was still a bit of a struggle to wrap his mind around. "Don't apologize, you haven't done anything wrong. I mean, yes, it doesn't make much sense, but I'm not going to judge you or anything. Just take a breath, calm down, let it sink in…"

Maybe give her a few seconds to choose a few more words to better explain the situation, because right now Remarque had a strange picture painted in his head and he couldn't make heads or tails of it.

But he wanted to.

There was a hell of a lot he realized he didn't know about being a senshi, despite his experience, despite his power, despite everything.

In an effort to make sense of things, he spoke again, "You said…you saw something?"

Us, before Destiny City? There was never another Remarque before Destiny City. Or, at least, there shouldn't have been. Not in the way that he understood things.

"How is that…possible?"

She stared up at him, silent, as he attempted to calm and comfort her. He wasn't judging her and claimed he didn't find her crazy, that was a good sign--though she'd been doubting herself ever since she agreed to take him to space and since she'd gotten in a car with a negaverse captain--and she could feel herself calming, slowly. "It's just--" she stopped, sighing. She didn't know how to explain it to him because it had never happened before, not like this. She had been to Denebola before but had only been overcome with a sense of familiarity, not a vision of a past she did not remember. "I don't think I know how to explain it, this hasn't happened before," she admitted, placing her palm against her forehead and lacing her fingers in her bangs.

She cleared her throat, mismatched eyes focusing on the blond. "This planet, attached to my star...it's devoid of life. Except the plants." Nature could survive most natural disasters, apparently even cosmic ones. "It wasn't always like that." Obviously. Still, stating the obvious helped focus her thoughts. "Once, millenniums ago, I think," she paused, had dropping from her face. She picked at the hem of her skirt, nervous habits to focus her mind. "I lived another life." She did not quite know how she knew that, but she was certain that the ginger in her vision was her. Had been her. It was a certainty she could not shake. "Were you there for the battle at the surrounding?" She asked before realizing he may not know what that was.

She needed to quit making assumptions.

"The space battle, when all those civilians went missing," she clarified, just in case. She left out the part where she hadn't participated in the battle, but she'd been around long enough to know where to get information from. "A bunch of them died, but then they came back. It's the same concept, in theory," she continued aware that she might be rambling. "We are reincarnated souls, our starseeds get sacrificed to the cauldron and then we return as the fates would have us." She recalled her time in Elysion, Chibiusa, Helios and the supposed Earth prince. Rumors that the Zodiacs had died and been reborn during the cover-up organ trafficking. "We die and are reborn." That sorta made sense, more-so than before.

"What I saw was from the perspective of myself, who I was back then. I think you had just arrived and I was supposed to be your guide, but there was a loud hum and something attacked us. So I tackled you to save you," she gestured between them, cheeks slightly red, "like I did here, but y'know without the thing attacking us." She looked down, picking at her nails.

"I knew it was you, whomever you used to be then because she knew. She was waiting for you Remarque. I was waiting for you," she emphasized. "You look kinda the same, but different."

Remarque took Denebola's words to heart; she had no reason to lie, and considering how she was acting, he wasn't even sure if she was in a state to make up something do descriptive. He knew shreds of information, and all she did was reinforce and expand on what he thought he already knew. He had scraps of information—bits and pieces that didn't always make sense, but piece by piece, things were slowly tying together, making more sense.

Denebola's words were like dropping several pieces of the puzzle into his lap and showing him exactly where they needed to go.

Some pieces were still missing—but it didn't matter, because even if he had more questions, he knew more now than he had this morning, and any step forward was a step in the right direction.

He could trust her. Or, at least, he wanted to. She spoke of the Surrounding—something he was quite personally familiar with, not just because he had been a civilian and experienced it all first hand, but because he knew about the civilians who died and shouldn't have returned. Raven had been one of them—an anomaly he was grateful for, but one he did not entirely understand.

She had died then, but was not reborn. She had just returned, as she was. That, he hadn't understood, but then, he wondered if anyone did.

"I was there, at the Surrounding," he replied, memories flashing briefly. He strained to remember something more—to remember the 'him but not him' that she spoke of, but there was nothing there for him to remember. "I remember that clearly. Though, nothing before then, sorry."

His time as a senshi had started then, but he could not retrieve any senshi memories beyond those that he had made in this lifetime. "Though, perhaps it is because we are not on my homeworld?" he offered.

…And yet, he didn't have the faintest idea on how to get to his homeworld. He didn't have a senshi cell phone to get him to his destination, nor did he have any idea how to get one. Or if that would even work.

"Was I as handsome as I am now as I was back then?" he asked, cracking a quick smile. It was as much as he could do to lighten the mood a bit, and if Denebola was relaxed, maybe there was more she could remember—more she could tell him.

"I don't think you're supposed to remember anything," she whispered, rocking back onto her heels. She was antsy and it showed, in the way she rubbed her palms on her skirt and the way her hands trembled slightly. She cleared her throat and nodded at his question. "I think so. I mean, I can only make educated guesses at this point but I think, that because this isn't your homeworld and you are not connected to the hum of the star--or planet, your power comes from," she paused chewing on the inside of her cheek.

It was harder for her to make these conclusions because she had no proof, no real evidence to back her theories and while she was smart, Denebola was more book smart than anything else.

She sighed, resting her knees back on the stone. "When I want to come here, I have to tune into the melody it plays for me," she explained. "It takes a lot of concentration and the use of my senshi phone." She pulled the phone from beneath her skirt to show him. "I don't know how to get here otherwise," she paused again, running her fingers across one of the cracks in the platform. "I've been to space before I came here," she stated.

She didn't know why she was telling him all of this, but it just kept pouring from her lips. "A bunch of us went to space, senshi that is. About two and a half years ago. A being called...Kurma took us there and then Chibimoon took us...elsewhere." She didn't want to talk about Elysion. "Then most of us, the ones around at the time, were taught how to tune into our homeworld and come back. I guess...I guess I could ask if something like this happened to one of the other senshi I know."

One thought kept echoing in her mind. Chaos isn't meant to go back. Could she voice it? Remarque was so excited to go to space, was she willing to say what was on her mind if it meant disappointing him?

She laughed, surprised by his question. "I think so, quite handsome really though I think I intimidated you."

Remarque certainly felt connected enough to his planet, but Denebola had a point in that there was a difference between the relationship between a White Moon Senshi and their homeworld and a Dark Mirror Senshi and their homeworld. Mostly because the White Moon Senshi could visit their homeworld, and the Dark Mirror Senshi were stuck on stupid Earth.

The more Denebola talked, the more entranced Remarque was—and he wondered, only briefly, why Leto and Requiem would have joined the Dark Mirror Senshi if it meant giving up access to the universe.

Or, at least, why they hadn't figured out how to get that access back. He wanted to see what his homeworld was like—wanted to know who he was. 'Handsome' was reassuring enough, though he scoffed. "Intimidated me? Not likely," he insisted, though perhaps only because he had to save face. Or, at least, save face for the past him that wasn't…him

He could feel a headache coming on, so instead he just massaged his temple and shook his head. "Handsome is good, though. Maybe that means more people will remember me. Him," he corrected quickly. "Because I guess that's the only way I'm going to find out anything." He shrugged. "You should come here more often, see if you remember anything else. I mean. If you'd like."

He tried not to sound too pushy, though his enthusiasm was difficult to suppress. He didn't have a Kurma or a Chibimoon to talk to or ask questions. "I'd like to bother you for information in the future. You're quite pleasant company. Minus the whole, you know, tackling bit. But that's forgivable."

Her smile widened as he dismissed her words. "Ah, but it was another life, another time Remarque," she teased, rocking back onto her heels and picking herself up off the stone. Her legs shook slightly, but she remained standing and the wooziness that filled her passed quickly. She brushed off her skirt and folded her arms across her chest. "You are not the man you were then."

The words had left her mouth before she thought twice about it and almost immediately afterwards, she wished she'd said something a bit more clever and less cliched. "I don't think I was a very warm person in that life," she shook her head, trying to keep the amusement from her face. "You might be surprised at who might remember you. Or I guess, the other you," she shrugged extending her hand out to him.

"I might," she admitted, looking up and around the area. She hadn't ventured far from the platform in any of her visits. She'd been too scared, worried about what she might find. She wasn't sure how skeletons or empty villages might effect her.

She feared her reaction would be poor.

"Of course," she agreed immediately. There was something deceptively comforting about Remarque, as far as chaos went. "I'll try not to tackle you next time, but I can't promise anything." She winked at him. "Let me take you back," she frowned slightly. "It's not exact inhabitable here." And she figured he had someone he'd like to get back to.

Remarque's eyes narrowed, not in hostility but curiosity. He didn't want to pry into the topic further, but he had questions far beyond what he suspected could be answered today. "Back sounds good," he said after a second. "Not that this place isn't interesting, of course. I suppose it's not exactly surprising if I say I've never seen anything like it."

He took one last glance around before he nodded again. "You'll have to tell me if you find out more about this place. Or, you know. The other me."

Though he wasn't particularly delighted to have such a slew of unanswered questions, he smiled. "I hope you find what you're looking for out here. I'm very interested in all of this," he confessed, though hardly seemed ashamed of such.

And how could he not be?

Worlds, off of Earth? People who existed, so long before now? Them—him?

And he didn't have a damn idea how to get more information. He absolutely despised relying on others, but this wasn't something he could just summon answers for, or even research without going to others.

No, he needed Denebola, and the others like her.

At least she was a likable senshi; he hoped he'd have the opportunity to see more of her in the future.

And find out more about what she knew—in this life and the last.

"I'm sure you've got people waiting for you," Denebola replied absentmindedly, reaching for the dark mirror's arm while she fished out her senshi phone. "If I see anything else of you, I'll let you know." Though she didn't know when she would return, the whole memory thing was a lot to handle.

Her fingers wrapped around is forearm, hand shaking slightly as she inhaled and exhaled. She needed to be calm and concentrate to get them back to Earth.

Her eyes closed and she focused, listening to the music calling them back and hit the button.

In the blink of an eye, they were done and Denebola was once again, a deserted planet without a living creature.
